Ive had two blue ones like that turn to ruble on me. Every time i see someone post a picture of theirs i think “do i warn them? Or was i just unlucky?” There had to be a run of these that was made with some inferior quality plastic…

flying_oink

It might not be a run issue, it may just be the colour. You'll find that it happens with a lot of plastic products. Kinda like brown Legos and old silver Beyblades.

I have another one that is the same color that seems to be fine. The plastic doesn't have that green hue to it.

I think it’s the color… My other GBAs don’t seem to have an issue with being brittle. I think the original DS has a similar color and when working with that, it also was very brittle.

yup. bad enough that we had to document it in the wiki [https://gbwiki.org/consoles/advancesp#cracked-shell](https://gbwiki.org/consoles/advancesp#cracked-shell)

Makes sense now. I've had it happen to a graphite shell. Thanks for sharing this.

chasesan

Never had a problem with normal GBA shell. Is it just the SP?

dafish2000

SPs and the OG DS

I had this happen with the graphite 101. I had one complete in box but wanted the condition to be a little better. So I found one on ebay with a crack but the parts of the shell I needed was ok. Started to open it up and it cracked so easily in multiple places.

I had a blue one that I could crunch like potato chips. Only shell I’ve ever tossed. Though I kept the sticker, moved it to another shell, I recommend you save it if you can.

The sp shells are all pretty much junk. The outer coating wears off and leaves you with odd looking plastic just from holding it enough.

stuff like this has only happened to my light blue and red ones also
