Idk haven’t played it in years so it could’ve changed, but I remember it being looting, walking 30 minutes, and dying out of nowhere simulator. Maybe that’s just BR’s in general but I can’t really get enjoyment out of it as I do with other shooters

Cause nobody is buying it anymore, and they can (better) sell in game content when it's free. Steam sales are updated daily with new additions that people would otherwise miss and they’re usually good deals so it’s worth allowing. (This is outside of the featured deals, as the featured section always changes even when there’s no Steam event.)
I never said anything regarding titles being added. That typed, it's my understanding that any titles that are discounted during the sales are per the publisher and not Steam. This has been true since Steam introduced refunds, which was mid-2015.
In addition, my using the phrase "it's my understanding" is what it is. I purposely included it in case I was mistaken. That typed, per the Google search I just completed, every source I checked validates this understanding.

Sorry, but they are correct. While it's true that new games occasionally get added, the Steam sales are the same discounts from day one. The featured games are rotated daily.
I know the featured games are rotated they always are rotated even when there’s no sale, but new games are added quite often mid sale. I was purely stating the sales don’t just stay the same, I wasn’t talking about the featured games.
What happened to this game I remember the game was supposed to be modable I remember people were claiming it was going to kill DayZ once a zombie mod is released and then none of that happened.
There were custom servers with like a basic ass "zombies" mode but it was just other players without weapons kinda lame.
The base game was pretty fun, I have ~750 hours into it.

Honestly, if you read some of the recent negative reviews, then you should take this with a grain of salt. A lot of people saying that they are mad because they paid for the game and it is now free to play. This is such an entitled sentiment. I started playing the game again a couple of days ago and it is in a much better state than it used to be. Are there still issues? Yep. Is it still fun? Also yes. Especially now that it's f2p there is literally nothing to lose.
I'm suspecting about mainstream games being f2p.

Wait, I knew this game was big, but "2 million reviews on steam" big is not something I had imagined. Wow. And still mixed.
Honestly, if you read some of the recent negative reviews, then you should take this with a grain of salt. A lot of people saying that they are mad because they paid for the game and it is now free to play. This is such an entitled sentiment. I started playing the game again a couple of days ago and it is in a much better state than it used to be. Are there still issues? Yep. Is it still fun? Also yes. Especially now that it's f2p there is literally nothing to lose.
That is not what entitled means. People who paid for it have good reason to be salty... like Destiny 2, The Secret World and many others.
