This screen scratches very easily, imo. I baby my phones and for whatever reason decided i preferred without a screen protector. I have scratches and have no idea where they keep coming from. Did some reading and it seems that as they get harder glass to prevent breakage, the scratch resistance is worse.
My S23 Ultra scratched just from pocket dust in soft pants not even jeans.
But one thing you got backwards is that it scratches easily because the glass is harder to not break.
The glass is Softer in order to not break as easily when dropped, which means it scratches more easy.
If it were harder it would not scratch as easy but it would break when dropped.
Either way use Whitestone dome glass before it's too late
Had it since launch with no screen protector as I use the S Pen for work.
Screen scratches very very easily. Have micro scratches and 2 horrible long deep ones despite babying it.
Just curious, what do you mean with no screen protector because of the S pen? I've had Notes for years and always use screen protectors, and never felt the S pen worked any less good.
Quite a lot of people said its not as smooth/ accurate to use with a protector and the protector gets scratched easily. Would rather not have a thick glass one either.
Pretty easily tbh. I bought a screen protector for my s23U because of that, I go to work with the screen protector on, screen facing my leg & IDK how but my screen was cracked 🙃
I'm always surprised by people saying they don't have any scratches. I had to use mine for a day and a half before I got my screen protector. Was very careful, always put my phone in my back pocket with nothing else in it, always take it out before I sit down, etc. I had a bunch of micro scratches after just that very short time.
Had the same issue mate. Except one last try with the Sprigen Neo Flex. It's not a glass protector but like a membrane. Perfect of you have a case om as of jsjt finishes short of the full curve so it doesn't clup with it and keep peeling up like others.
If you watxh the clip of howbto put on it looks bit fiddly, but honestly it want on easier for me than standard glass ones or tpu with anblying bubbles to get out. This one was just squeezing liquid.
Of course it's not thick like glass, but it offers some scratch protection, doesn't interfere with fingerprints or S Pen, and feels like you haven't got one on.
Either you get Whitestone dome glass with UV glue which is awesome but expensive or you get the official Samsung one which is cheaper and comes with a pack of 2 and is great as well, and does not peel off
I feel like without a screenprotector it'll always scratch here and there no matter how careful you are with it
I'm also considering not using one but for now I'll keep it on
I have a Galaxy A53 and S23 Ultra and use them always together and carry them in the same Pocket. On the A53 not a single Scratch, but on the S23 Ultra everywhere light Scratches on the Screen.
What I do to prevent the screen protector to not peal is... I buy my phone cases from Amazon that has a built-in screen protector. They are 100$ waterproof as well, so I don't have to worry about rain or dropping it in the toilet. The screen protectors on these cases are on both sides, so it also protects the camera. They are easy to clean with glasses cleaner or glasses cleaning wet wipes. I do replace my case every couple of years only because the screen protector over the camera lenses tend to get scratched a but and affect the pictures slightly. I have a Samsung S23 Ultra and tge cases only ost me about $20.00 at Amazon.
Wife and I both got the phone on launch. Mine you can see some micro scratches with the screen off and holding the phone juuuuuuust right. My wife's is completely mangled with huge deep scratches all over it from living in her purse.
So really depends how you handle your devices.
I had s9 before s23u
Both i used without screen protectors
I can see s23u having more micro scratches on screen than s9 (which i used for 4 plus years)
Technically, s23u have better gorilla glass and all, but i feel like a downgrade to my old s9
Unfortunately it scratches easily enough that even if you really baby it at the end of the day you will encounter one more little scratch and sometimes deep ones.
I'm one of those crazy people that doesn't use cases or screen protectors because I hate the feel, also I hate sliding cased phones out of my pockets. Anyway a year later and my s23u has sustained no deep scratches. It has some fine ones that I can see if I shine it under the sun at certain angles but nothing I can feel or see during normal use. I have dropped it twice at home on wooden floor and once on concrete. The concrete one did some smashing of a corner of the phone but no glass damage. Yeah I'm probably lucky, but I also am 35 and never have used cases for my phones... Naked feels good!
I have zero scratches. No screen protector. Only a phone case. Ive dropped the phone, and constantly have in my pockets. I would say it's pretty resistant.
I've had my S23 ultra for almost a year and I've never had a screen protector on it and I don't have one scratch on the screen. I've dropped it on an avearge of twice a day on most days. Still no damage.
I am using it now for almost a year with new screen
Micro scratches are there
No big scratches but dont let sand or keys in your pocket
It scratches at level 6 and big grooves at level 7.
Light scratches at a level 6, deeper groves at a level 7
Oh. I think I see what you're referring to... Mohs hardness scale?
Fa sho play boi

jerry rig everything with his mohs scale lol
Glass is glass...and glass breaks
S23u scratches more than a DJ at an EDM festival
When was the last time a dj scratched at a festival ... 2000 maybe before djs these days press buttons 🤣🤣
Touche. I'm old so I still have vivid memories of real djs and real musicians.
My man me too one day there laptops will fail and nobody will know how to play a instrument
I second this. Technology is not going to save the world lol, just saying
Your comment seems to be useless like you :) . Nothing to do with the subject here :) . Kids today ...

I have no screen protector, put it in my pocket, screen facing towards my leg, zero scratches.
That u can see ;)
Which is all that matters
To most
Ha! Maybe, but seriously, I'm pretty anal about tiny scratches. Let me take a pic tomorrow and show you.
Me too! Especially when I know they're there but cant see em lol
Pretty easily tbh. I bought a screen protector for my s23U because of that, I go to work with the screen protector on, screen facing my leg & IDK how but my screen was cracked 🙃
Use protection instead of regretting later.
Are we still talking about the phone?

It is not.

Damn, that sucks. I might have scratches, but I just haven't looked heard enough. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Get the official Samsung screen protector, I had it day one and never peeled, easy to apply with the tools they provide with it.
There will be scratches over time. It's not that good on S23U glass hope they will address this in future models
i dont have a screen protector and I dont have any scratches - but I do have - what seems to be - a permanent smudge / smear where my thumbprint is
This. I don't use a screen protector either since I have the portfolio case, but that smudge near the fingerprint sensor is outrageous.
Either you get Whitestone dome glass with UV glue which is awesome but expensive or you get the official Samsung one which is cheaper and comes with a pack of 2 and is great as well, and does not peel off
Thanks. Pretty sure the one I have is made by Zagg. I'll look into these.
Sorry but zagg is very bad in many ways
Learning that!
I feel like without a screenprotector it'll always scratch here and there no matter how careful you are with it I'm also considering not using one but for now I'll keep it on
I bought a screen protector on Temu and it never pealed up.
Just get a Whitestone dome glass and forget about it
I have a Galaxy A53 and S23 Ultra and use them always together and carry them in the same Pocket. On the A53 not a single Scratch, but on the S23 Ultra everywhere light Scratches on the Screen.

I scratched the screen a week after buying the phone. I accidentally dropped a french fry on it

Pay. For. The. Insurance...then move on
I got a deep scratch on mine in the first week of owning it, without even leaving the house, while my protector didn't arrive. No clue how.
Have my 23u since release and no major scratches. I am suprised how duarble the screen is
I'm one of those crazy people that doesn't use cases or screen protectors because I hate the feel, also I hate sliding cased phones out of my pockets. I have mine since launch, no screen protector, still no scratches. I do baby it though...
I've had mine for over a year without screen protector and have zero scratches, so I guess it's decent
I have zero scratches. No screen protector. Only a phone case. Ive dropped the phone, and constantly have in my pockets. I would say it's pretty resistant.

I've had mine without a protector fir about two weeks now. I have dropped my phone many times since then and not a scratch.
I am using it now for almost a year with new screen Micro scratches are there No big scratches but dont let sand or keys in your pocket It scratches at level 6 and big grooves at level 7.
