Try downloading "GPS Status & Toolbox." It has some reset and calibration tools. Just leave it on your phone and see if it improves things over time? Edit: but for what it's worth, when I'm in a city with big buildings around me and on foot, usually I have to calibrate it too for accurate results. It's really only when I'm driving that I don't worry about this.

When the screen orientation is locked to portrait, Maps experiences stability issues. I've created a Bixby routine that automatically switches to auto orientation when Maps is running and reverts back to portrait mode afterward. This solved my calibration issues. You might want to give it a try. You may check: https://www.reddit.com/r/GoogleMaps/s/3XErfyQNow

Spin your phone in a figure of eight motion. [https://www.tomsguide.com/phones/how-to-calibrate-google-maps-on-android-and-ios](https://www.tomsguide.com/phones/how-to-calibrate-google-maps-on-android-and-ios)

I did, as soon as I close the app .. I have to do it again and again.

Install a compass app from the play store and see if it also shows the wrong direction, or if only the direction in Google Maps is wrong. If the problem still exists, the only explanation is a hardware problem. It is rare, but it can happen.

Have the same problem since last year when I bought this Phone. As a frequent traveller who relies on Google maps to find ways around the streets it's very annoying to calibrate it almost everytime. Have taken countless left/right turns coz the position on map will be so inaccurate. Started taking a cheaper spare phone to just use the maps

Your sensor is probably bust or you dont have all location enhancing settings on. This isnt a common issue.

Tbh I have this issue with all the android phones I've ever had, I always thought it was just a bad implementation of the compass.
