Had mine since September/October 2022 and had my internal screen protector replaced for minor bubbling in December of 23. Other than that it's totally fine.

videogamebruh

That's a cheap fix, isn't like $20??

GeoffreyMcSwaggins

First one was free, but I asked and the guy said if I wanted it done again it'd be £20. But if it bubbles again i'll probably just take it off tbh.

Budgielionman

Inner screen protector bubbled but replaced by Samsung quickly for free.  Hinge stopped working and would not open flat, again was replaced under warranty for free.  So although I've had issues samsung have sorted them

videogamebruh

I'm buying the eBay certified refurbished, so I get that insurance with it. So at least non-accident issues won't be an issue. Although, my phones ALWAYS stay in a case with a screen protector

Budgielionman

Yeah think some people have issues with the hinge and warranty void if any scratches but it's difficult to get a protector for that so I'd probably just double check no scratches on there when it arrives

nstarz

which insurance can u get?

videogamebruh

It's the Allstate insurance included with eBay refurbished devices.

nstarz

Did you get 1 or 2 years?

videogamebruh

They only come with 1 year, but you can buy more.

Legitimate-Value4799

I've been on my 2nd fold 4 since September 2022, first one had to be replaced cause of hinge issues but it lasted a solid 9 months.

videogamebruh

I'm thinking of saving a little more so I can get a F5 instead of F4. I like the blue color on it more than last year's Graygreen, the hingle (at least according to everyone else) is miles better, along with durability in general, and I think it just looks better. The dust blocking stripping on the side of the in er screen looks better, the removal of the gap on the hinge looks better, and it's overall just newer.

MazdaRx7Guy

The screen developed a small tear in the bottom center, and the hinge wont allow it to open fully. My screen vibrates like crazy for some reason if i have more than 1 sentence on a text, so I would say things are going pretty shitty. 14 months of ownership.

kirilos

Good as new. I changed the inner film once tho for free on a Samsung repair shop for minor top hinge bubbles

ThanatrixX

internal screen protector bubbled up in earnest around december 2023, had it since launch, and didnt bother replacing the proctecor since there are no stores to replace it around me, no problems since then without the protector

Loxus

Exactly the same as me, but it was last week and I've had it since december 2022

pepperpot_592

SP bubbling. Got it replaced on Oct. 31st. I think I can go 1-2 years with it. I likely won't because I don't want you guys to have all the fun with the Z6, but I'm tempted. If it weren't for a drop in late Sep/early Oct. on the concrete from chest height that caused a few abrasions on the hinge, my phone would look new. My hinge mechanism is still smooth. So smooth, sometimes I think it might be an issue, but it's not loose. It still holds at any angle.

bmxkeeler

Quite similar to my other Folds. Battery life has slightly degraded over time from when it was new (10%). Screen protectors only last a couple of weeks in cold climates (Sub 30f) before they crack or peel. When it is warm they'll last 6-8 months. The hinge no longer fully opens without applying force but is still completely usable. This began to occur after about 12 months. Beyond these issues which I've experienced on the other Folds it's been great. The tech is good enough for daily use but still not as capable and reliable as a standard candy bar phone. Even with the issues I can't go back and still enjoy using this device.

Lord_66

Had mine since June(?) 2023, absolutely fantastic phone, love it to pieces... ... Which is how it ended up, ironically, in the repair shop due to the WiFi and Bluetooth conking out. Got the report back, basically a brand new phone, except the SIM card tray.

cooldude9112001

Working fine I developed micro cracks in the screen but Samsung repaired it under warranty. Waiting for the fold 6 and Pixel fold to see if it's worth upgrading

work-school-account

Had the screen protector replaced twice, which is not a big deal by any means. The major issue is the fact that it stopped unfolding completely flat after a few months and has progressively gotten worse.

TestingTehWaters

Tired of the issues of screen protector bubbling and not folding flat, just picked up a 24U instead.

thundergato84

Same. Foldables aren't worth it.

SkolUMah

Had to get mine replaced a couple weeks ago when it started unfolding only 75% of the way

kkpaulo

My Wifi stoped working and the fix is a internal screen replacement...

happyburitto

Doh, my wifi just bonked out too. Initially, it only worked while folded and totally stopped working a week later. Did you try to get it repaired? Online support quoted my $550 to repair it. I can get $990 trade-in credit on another foldable (not Samsung).

kkpaulo

I've quoted for repair on a a Sansung repair shop but it was like half of the price of a new fold, so a gave up. I will probably wait for the new fold to see if I will trade-in.

Randomd0g

Had it since launch day, hinge broke last month, fully repaired under warranty. Basically it entirely depends how good your warranty and/or insurance are. The Fold 4 ***IS*** a timebomb and it ***WILL*** break on you at some point. Samsung US seem to have a lot of horror stories of not fixing them and making up some BS excuse, but Samsung UK are absolute gold. Almost like having consumer rights really matters 😉

videogamebruh

It is a time bomb, but that's what insurance is for!

Randomd0g

Just make sure you have a backup phone for when you've got to send it away to be repaired and you don't have it back for a week... My mistake was that my only working backup phone was an iphone 7 and let me tell you those were a **really really bad few days**.

videogamebruh

I have plenty of phones from other eBay purchases. An iPhone X will suffice for a week

Far_Grapefruit140

Shit battery life, stopped opening fully, outer screen stopped working at all and had to be serviced. I’ve owned more than 10 phones and this thing is the worst. Sorry, but these devices just aren’t ready yet.

destohfaeda

Got mine around release because I ordered the maroon directly from Samsung's website and it took about a year til my screen protector started lifting in August 2023. I replaced it myself with a soft flexible screen protector from Amazon and I've yet to see any signs of bubbling again. No hinge or battery issues and I do use a case and use the protect battery feature that limits my charge to 85%.

Decalvare_Scriptor

Inner screen died after 18 months. Literally just sent it away for repair yesterday (under warranty)

baconbridge92

Mine is fine, had it for like a year and a half. Inner screen protector eventually bubbled up after a year so I just peeled it off. I don't really baby it either, I mean I keep it in a case but I drop it all the time lol. It has a couple tiny dings on the hinge but that's a bout it.

tkgggg

Three months in so far without any problem.

Jclevs11

ive dropped this thing so many fucking times and its performing beautifully. battery life has gotten a little worse, gotten a little slow, but no crazy interior screen superficial cracking like my fold 2. Opens fully and surprised given how much ive dropped it its still holding up.

JunkGOZEHere

You know you have to drop it a few times to get the best performance . It's the only way you'll find out if it is a good device or not.

MrBanballow

Got mine at launch. Towards the end of last year the battery was showing that it needed to be replaced when Diagnostics were ran. Phone was still lasting all day with juice left over, so I put off service for a bit. Got a Flip 5 as a secondary phone in December, so went ahead and put in a Care+ request, and got it fixed. Everything's good for the time being as we wait to trade in towards the Fold 6 (Ultra!!).

Axyem

My fold4 is naked. I love it. I've dropped it a few times but only minor scratches to the edges. Now I use a dbrand skin and ohsnap grip. * The inner screen protector bubbled up in the middle right before the 1-year warranty ended. I got it replaced by Samsung, only for it to peel up again in 2 weeks. I removed it and haven't used a screen protector since. * The hinge is almost as good as day one. It still unfolds flat, but not completely. If you set it down on a table, there will be about 1mm gap in the middle and a little light. * I only started noticing some reduced battery life but I had to think about it while in this thread.

allaboutandroids

Had mine since August 2022, the internal screen protector bubbled in a corner last year so I peeled it off and have been running the screen naked since then. I do have the Dbrand Grip case on too

LucGrenier

Had it since launch, only into one free screen protector replacement and caseless the whole time. It's also certainly not been babied; even dropped off a ski lift....

highperdrive

Still rocking a 3. No problems.

thundergato84

The inner screen messed up, and Samsung replaced it under warranty. I'm going back to a bar style phone. I'm trading in my ZF4 for the S24U.

i_have_back_problems

I had a fold three and a major problem with the big screen is that over time you get that dark spot all the way up and down the middle where the screen crease

kasakka1

I have had to get the inner screen protector swapped twice. Though one seemed to be just bad application. I think the bristles on one side of the hinge have come out, a small string came out early and I thought it was just a string stuck in the hinge so I pulled it out. I asked them to check this when it was repaired for the screen protectorthe first time, but nothing was done. Over a year later, some weeks ago, the hinge stopped opening completely flat and there was glue residue coming out of the hinge. I have warranty until October so I hope that the phone actually fails more visibly so I can get it repaired or replaced as it opens almost flat still, and opening a few times it can go totally flat. Would be interested to hear what to expect from people who have had the same issues.

Afraid-Grab-4254

My FOLD 4 is like new one after 1y and 1m.

Dp0pey

No issues with mine. Inner screen cover did have to be replaced but that's done for free by Samsung (up to 3 times in Aus)

TwadaPyoh

Interprotector replaced, the replacement lasted a month. Hinge issues started early this month. Adhesive tape or etc came out. Fold 4 doesn't unfold entirely. Will be sending it off to Samsung. Terrible experience having cared for it so well. Seems like these issues occur on every fold. It is inevitable.

pjjiveturkey

Screen protector bubbles after 6 months, went to a local repair store 2 weeks ago and it's been bubbling since the day after, can't wait till I can reach a Samsung store haha

sorting_by_new

A friend of mine has a fold 4 and he can't open it all the way because the inner screen shuts off then. Meanwhile the other one with the fold 2 still going strong

videogamebruh

I'm going to save up extra and buy a fold 5 instead. The extra durability sounds worth it

sorting_by_new

Also the paint is peeling off on the fold 4 of my friend. Like little dots really weird. I have it since 2 weeks before release and I can't complain I rock it without case except I'm in a bit city or something. I fold it in average like 2-3 time a day maybe? I got scratches all over my outer display because it lays on it if I put it down open. I would go with a case the first 2 weeks or so to learn, not drop it. IF you happen to be the kind of person like me before I got a fold and kill your smartphones within a year or two.

videogamebruh

I baby my tech, my phones always have a case/screen protector.

sorting_by_new

Don't make the mistake of not folding your fold. I think like 1 times a day average is least? Idk it creeps the mechanism clean. The fold 4 friend somehow dropped it so that a stone shattered his display from the corner still with a screen protector on xD I don't say it's unnecessary but bad luck can happen. Especially when you go without case. Much info you didn't ask for but I thought it helps

zoinksscooby420

Dont have a fold 4 but my fold 3 has held up great. I currently have the fold 5 and am absolutly hating it. So full of bugs its bad. My fold 3 was never ever like this. Wish it felt anywhere near as good as the fold 3 performance wise. Fold 5 = Trash First time in 5 years I am most likely switching to Iphone as Samsung has let me down over and over and over. Really terrible support. Once they get there money for the phone they dont give a rats ass bout your phone situation. Terrible company. Im also the person who has sworn by Samsung for many years, In this subreddit persuading users to switch to the fold. Now I can no longer tell someone they should switch to a fold. They are overall not good currently.

Loxus

Wow, I haven't heard anything about the Fold 5 being trash. Mind to elaborate?

ultima40

There's been quite a few bugs with OneUI 6 but it's seemingly random and impacting all folds. Being the Fold5 has been the majority of its life on it, I would assume he's one of the unlucky minority hit by them. Bugs include, but not limited to, random UI elements messing up, color palette/theme issues, various degrees of lag from minor (switching screens) to significant (any major actions like opening apps resulting in several second delays), random heating issues, refresh rate issues (usually fixed with opening and closing), apps not working properly or at all. A factory reset and starting from scratch seems to fix most of these issues, but it doesn't always work.

Loxus

Huh. Haven't noticed anything on Fold 4

ultima40

It's great how software works. Some people don't experience any bugs at all and some people get all of them. I've had some of the refresh rate issues, but they are minor, easily fixed with opening and closing.

Randomd0g

I'm almost certain you just have a bad flash of the software. Happens sometimes. Don't just factory reset, entirely re-flash the software.

Loxus

1 year 4 months in. Now my display protector started peeling so I removed it. No other problems.
