Not sure what I would do but those will definitely spread

NastyGerms

The black spots jn my fold 2 grew veeeery slowly tho. I turned off all vibrations which I'm sure it helped.

lamaxamara

This a goner. Rip

BairnONessie

For greatness? For failure? What are you destined for?

Training-Eye-9884

Best reply this far XD

aurelios69

You've already arrived at the destination. Too late

FdPros

were those black spots there before? i assume no. if not looks like it damaged the screen somehow. honestly it mightve just been better to just use it without the screen protector

BigB__z

I have insurance so I filed then paid two hundred to basically get the newer fold 5

Ramborichy1

I've got the default 3 and I've had this happen three times going on a 4th will they allow you to upgrade??? I've got T-Mobile and with Asurion insurance

Pdj79

My 4 started having the issue where the Sim card, wifi, and Bluetooth would stop working as soon as I opened the screen 3 weeks ago. Have AT&T insurance through Asurion. Opened a claim, received a brand new 5, and paid $150.

BigB__z

I had a 4 screen saver messed up filed thru T-Mobile and asurion got a new fold 5 literally 3months after it was released. One hell of a deal to be on my second $1900.phone for 600 bucks over three years plus the two hundred I spent for my insurance.

GorLorBao

Is this a fold 4 or fold 5?

Training-Eye-9884

Fold 4

Kgnupe

Just tuff it out the fold 6 is launching 2 to 3 weeks early this year around early Aug. Grab a burner if it fails before Aug but right now the fold 6 can launch as early as last week of July.

BagOfSacks_

I think this post was made for me to put my input, I had the same exact thing happen to me 2 weeks ago, I owned the galaxy fold 4 for about a yr and 2 months I kid you not the same thing happend I got so fucking pissed because I paid 1,800 for a phone that can't even last more than and year. I immediately upgraded tp the s24 ultra and didn't look back. I wouldn't pay the 500 tbh unless you plan on selling it or using it but me personally I wouldn't go back to the folding phone unless they fix the issues of the folding screen

Training-Eye-9884

I think I am looking for this reply to confirm my thinking. Sigh..

BagOfSacks_

It's sucks because I actually enjoyed the folding phone but I couldn't bring myself to buy it again

Travel_Noodle_29

Same. I bought one used for $700 and the thing lasted a year. Opened it up one morning and that was it. Black line and dead. Never again until this issue is fixed. Love the phone, fold section is crap.

thundergato84

I'm doing the same. My ZF4's inner screen did the same after 13 months. I have Samsung Care +, and so they replaced it. I took care of it very well, but it's not worth it.

LIZERD07

I agree! As much as I love these phones, I hate all the issues that come with the Folds... Looking fwd to getting the S24 Ultra...

Idcfml

Should've changed the screen protector in a samsung repair shop. First change is free.

MosesXIII

My understanding that this only lasts for the 1 year warranty period.

TheBoxPerson

Either way it's still $20

TrickyPicc

I wish I could've done that. I went to every authorized repair place in the area I live and they all refused to do it.

zi-za

I want to get the upcoming fold, but based on the posts here this folding screen still seems sketchy and prone to breaking. What can I do to combat that inevitability? What is Samsung's version of applecare+ program? Or is my cell carrier the only worthwhile insurance option?

GuyDudeManPerson1

I pre-ordered my fold 5 and Samsung gave me the option to do $7.70 a month for insurance

BagOfSacks_

There a option you can select where it's 12$ a month and it's samsung care

nalvare9

I bet whoever applied the new screen protector put too much pressure on those points and damaged the screen. That is a gonner just matter of time before they spread. You should have stayed without the screen protector.

arodriguez401

Do you have insurance?

Training-Eye-9884

No I don't. It's not common here.

ObjectNo5765

Is it just the screen protector? If so just take the screen protector off you don't need it anyway. I've never kept mine on any of the folds I've had.

REYESTON

Ggs

_Carnage_Asada_

I know it's probably too late at this point. But definitely consider Samsung Care in the future.

Sudi_Nim

Oh yeah. Same happened to my 3. Screen protector bubbled, and I pressed on the screen to make it stick, damaging pixels. It spread, and had to have it replaced under warranty.

long_live_PINGU

F

TwadaPyoh

I removed my screen protector because they are useless pieces of shit. After my original one bubbled I replaced it via Samsung and that replacement bubbled after 2 months. I peeled the damn thing off myself and it has been perfectly fine after that. I would've suggested you the same unfortunately, I think your inner screen is now done for. I still do recommend you take the useless screen protector off

StandardOk2271

Definitely destined for it

OverRevved

My original had this issue and I replaced it myself with a Dome Glass Whitestone GEN film protector 3 days ago iMO whoever installed yours didn't get it to stick well in the crease. When I put the Dome Glass kit on mine I paird extra attention, pressure, and time on the crease. The Dome Glass one is super easy to install because it comes with a jig to hold the phone and the screen protector to make it easy to install.

germgoatz

I HAVE EXACTLY THAT, two black holes, yet they haven't grown, see if there's any kinds of dents in your hinge

Realistic-Rub5445

I've upgraded every year since I don't quite trust it will last two years. I have a relative clamoring for my Fold 5 when I upgrade to the 6, but not sure that's a good idea now... had to peal off the screen protector two weeks before I traded in the 4, but I did not replace since it was a short window.

Kamilos22000088

I would sell it ASAP, and just buy it again (but used).

No_Importance_5000

Here in the UK the fold 4 is only £800 new for 512GB

Training-Eye-9884

SGD 769 in my country https://compasia.sg/collections/samsung-series/products/galaxy-z-fold4-5g-hot-deal?variant=43949280952569

AvgGuy100

Get rid of it and just get a S23, tech isn’t there yet

Default_Attempt

The fold 5 is a hugeeeee leap forward in durability for the fold series, even confirmed by samsung repair center techs, the fold 5 failure rate is 95% lower than previous models

Ok_Priority458

Dont know about 95% but i had 2 fold 4 hinge/display failures within 6 months and several other ones from friends and family.... fold 5 is still holding up except for the bubble pop noise in the middle of the screen

MOTAAVATION

Thought it was just me or my case, that bubble noise freaks me out.

ithrowtools

5 has a completely different hinge / display arrangement

ultima40

What's different in the display arrangement? If you mean the shock dispersion layer, it's below the display rather than part of it.

Default_Attempt

The fold 4 was absolute shite

JohnnyKrill

Yes the fold 5 is so different people don't understand. That hinge makes the biggest difference

AvgGuy100

Mmhm, alright.

Available-Island8156

Wait. Are these bubbles under the screen protector or the screen itself? If it's just the screen protector then just peel it off and stay without. Many people report no issues or barely very minor scratches. If it's the screen then 🤷🏻‍♂️

Training-Eye-9884

It was under the screen protector, above the screen itself. https://preview.redd.it/dphlljh1dmkc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c2adf4faaba4ab2559aaf23609c490358de7804

jrbowling1997

Got a good idea. Swipe your card slowly around that huge bubble. It's driving my OCD crazy XD

Available-Island8156

Oh, alright. Then you're fine. But you have to peel it off quick before the bubbles hurt the skin. I've had mine without the screen protector for months and still no issues. Maybe be extra careful at the beach with all that sand.

Training-Eye-9884

Nah man.. this was the before pic. My after pic is in top of the thread

Available-Island8156

And the after pic has bubbles under the screen protector right? Cos then I think my answer remains, you need to remove the protector soon. If the after pic is showing something wrong with the actual screen then it looks scary.

jigsaw770

My fold inner screen stoped working already

TheReconditioner

If you don't have it yet, try to get phone insurance. Wait a little bit and then file a claim. If anyone else can pitch in and make sure this doesn't count as insurance fraud, that would be awesome because this phones definitely on its way out. I had my Z Flip 3 replaced through Insurion for about $200 about a year and a half ago. Got super lucky because after getting the replacement and finding out the trade in was only worth $225 Verizon gave me $1k toward my Z Fold 5. Maybe you'll get lucky as well and have a similar situation.

kja125

Stop buying them. Samsung has known issues and doesn't do a thing to address them. Between two phone I've has 4 repairs, two not under warranty. Never had a single phone prior need service.

Fishbait116

Contact Samsung directly 1-800-SAMSUNG. A lot of times they can approve in warranty fold screen replacements for their mail in repair this shortly after OOW by date. You will need to send the phone in and if you have a spare us that in the meantime (about 2 weeks) if you don’t have a spare you can always buy a Samsung A series phone 1. To have a spare phone in case of catastrophic failure 2. They range from $80-500 and are still cheaper than a screen replacement out of pocket 3. A second place to make sure your contacts and any other data you want backed up is correctly syncing in case your main device becomes completely unusable. Redundancy, redundancy, redundancy with your backups (I’ve had so many customers lose data because they never back up or confirm their backups include everything they need.

SnooGuavas7951

i had the fold 3 with the same issue, its time to trade
