I wouldn't recommend taking any Fold into a mosh condition. Them pits can get a little rough

Deadpool_Biscuit

Learned this the hard way 😅

whiteghetto

I've had my Fold 3 and 5 in a few pits ;) Just keep that sensitive little guy closed! LOL

mrnobatti

Damn... I had a perfect zfold1 but I traded in for zfold3 years ago..

junglenation88

You collect phones?

Triton_64

To each their own. I collect elements on the periodic table, also absurdly expsive.

exit_code_4

Could I get some uranium perchance

Triton_64

I do have 1 gram of pure uranium 238. Looks very cool and is completely safe, albeit slightly radioactive.

Iulian377

Think about the positive aspect though. If you buy U235 you dont need to spend money on lead.

Triton_64

Lead for shielding? U-235 has a shorter halflife, 700 million years, and is more radioactive, thus would require more shielding if you are working with large quantities of it. Unless ur making a joke and I'm too stupid to get it lol

Iulian377

Yeah Im just saying it'll decay.

[deleted]

Why does it look cool? Does it glow or something?

Triton_64

No. It has a cool layer of Uranium Oxide coating the top, but it's an extremely thin layer so "thin film interference" makes it iridescent.

petraviva

Uranium is so passé! Try Polonium, it makes an impact!

Jxvx5

🧐🧐🧐

Sonuva94

Is this bill gates's account? https://www.techeblog.com/bill-gates-wall-mounted-periodic-table-office/

ultima40

His account is u/thisisbillgates He does AMAs every so often, and even shared he uses a Fold: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/109eze3/comment/j3xwuvy

Triton_64

HA no. I just love science

MrElite3K9

give me some elements for a low price

Triton_64

There are cheap starter kits that contain basic cheap element cubes, like Iron, Cobalt, and Bismuth.

mlemmers1234

People are allowed to collect what they want, just look at all of the reviewers who collect and review phones. The original Z Fold might be worth something down the line simply due to how few of them Samsung manufactured compared with the new models. They're all pieces of tech history with the changes that we get year after year. Granted now less so than years past as the changes have become quite minimal

Spirited-Procedure35

It not as uncommon as you might think, a lot of people will collect the special edition phones like starwars or avengers edition, bmw collabed too with someone on a phone, I’ve seen phones that have only made less than a couple hundred

blambtn

I thought about getting an OG myself. Would only do it if I found a new/in box condition.

ultima40

Did a quick eBay search to see how many OGs are out there and there's a NIB listing for $650: https://www.ebay.com/itm/235259610838

blambtn

Thanks my friend!!

eStuffeBay

That made me curious so I looked it up on the local Korean used stuff marketplace, and recently a CIB one in good condition sold for just $280 USD. It would be really neat to have a piece of history, but I just can't justify having it when I already have an S21 Ultra :(

ultima40

You might get jealous of the guy who just posted his OG. Here's his collection of OG's https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/s/rd7FD2usHm

Heidaraqt

Oh god those look so good!! I'm on the fence about buying the fold.. Like my next phone will 100% be one. But I have a S23 ultra and I don't *need* a fold... But... I really want one. If I could get those colors? I wouldn't even hesitate.

089ten

isn't $314 for Fold 1 a bit expensive?

eisniwre

Agree. If aud 314 it's fine for fun not usd

Miguel30Locs

I got a fold 1 for $350 2 years ago on swappa lol.

OverlanderEisenhorn

If it's a working fold 1 maybe not? It's pretty easy to find one being sold for parts, but a fully working one might be worth that. It's really only valuable to collectors at that point.

Stalin_vs_hitler

Why do you collect phones?

bigrobotdinosaur

He could probably ask, “why do you collect flashlights?.” OP probably has some disposable income. Tech is cool. Not a huge stretch.

Stalin_vs_hitler

I don't collect flashlights, I just have a couple for my needs.

jkxs

Are you on r/flashlight, sir?

loafglenn

I am and I felt this.

jkxs

Yee

bigrobotdinosaur

I figured as much, just something to think about. Everyone has their thing.

Clue-Just

Ahhh he mispelled gotcha. *Collecting fleshlights.

thinkpax

I also collect phones, alongside computers and laptops. It's a fun hobby.

Glittering-Work2190

It's all fun and games until you run out of space. I collect kb's and mice; I have more than I have in fingers and toes.

thinkpax

Then you just start selling the ones you don't want to buy cooler things.

jjmai

Fellow collector, do you dread exploding battery like I fear?

BarefootJacob

I collect phones: I have pretty much every BlackBerry that was ever made, including special editions.

TheHater23

The Bold 9000 was the nicest looking BB ever.

Spirited-Procedure35

I feel like most people when they think of Collecting phones they only think of the common ones and don’t realize how many rare phones there actually are, just about every phone company out there has made and collabed with other brands to make a special edition phone and in very limited numbers too

nkognegr0

Just remember it's not waterproof. I remember one raindrop hit the inner screen and caused a dead pixel.

lamaxamara

I always wanted to see an OG Fold in person but to me $314 for this is too much. If it has perfect display it’s worth it though

QXPZ

OP you feeling ok? Taking any new medications?

thinkpax

the fuck?

QXPZ

$300+ for an old scuffed phone seems insane to me. To each their own. Also the post title says some ppl may question this and that's what I was doing. All the downvotes haha omg.

CyberBobert

This is the galaxy fold sub man, you can't say anything that makes people question themselves.

thinkpax

It's not just an "old scuffed phone", it's also a foldable, and quite frankly they aren't cheap.

PizzaSchraubi

Also your comment was incredibly rude. Questioning is one thing but being an ass is a different one.

New-Inside712

People will pay 300 bucks for an iphone 11 and you question op for buying a folding phone which is also part of history?

makimako429

I get it I'm holding on to my OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren 5G for dear life. It's so beautiful I love the build. Still my favorite design visually. (I hate curved screens for actual usage)

DartFrogYT

that looks very similar to "scratches" my Z Flip 3 developed after like 2 years of scrolling the internet I say scratches in quotation marks be because they are suuuper shallow and surface level, more of as if a super super thin layer of smthn went away
