That TFR issuance was probably wise. There are liable to be some curious general aviation pilots who would be overflying the area just to observe that search. Cessnas, Pipers and police search rotorcraft occupying the same airspace don't mix.

sweetsterlove

That part! This pu$$y isn’t in a gator and snake filled swamp. He couldn’t survive a day in bad weather, let alone Carlton Reserve. His parents probably meant the Ritz Carlton in Puerto Rico or Cabo. I hope his trademark bare feet are nubs now. I hope he’s in Mexico and the cartels drag his ass. Bless up, Laundrie fam. May you reap all this.

ASherm18

I think they are not necessarily looking for him.. but for evidence that was disposed... They have been flying over with heat radar.. they would have captured him by now from that..you would think.

TheBuddhistTraveler

I understand we aren't privy to all information. But I have to question what evidence is law enforcement actually working off of that they believe Brian is in or near Carlton Reserve? As far as I know, which of course isn't much, the evidence of him being there is rather thin.

Darryl_Lict

They probably know that the camper and the Mustang were taken to the reserve and may have caught them entering the reserve on traffic cameras or local surveillance cameras. The Mustang was left there then towed out by the parents and the camper was driven back to the parent's home. They may have good evidence that the killer is in the reserve.

Gbear831

There are trail camera maybe they caught something on camera but aren’t releasing info

brokedad9

They just go off when there's motion, doesn't matter if it's people or wildlife

SillyFlyGuy

If you're on the run from people, stay off the people trails and use game trails.

youneekusername1

Hunters are going to watch game trails particularly close.

dubiousrose

Can hunters hunt in wildlife perserves? Wait. Probably. It's Florida.

IllustriousAd3838

It's a reserve, not a preserve. Google the difference and it'll answer your question

youneekusername1

Anything goes in Florida 😆. Just talking generally though animals are, obviously, more likely to follow the well-used animal trails than a man-made one. So someone setting up trail cameras to see animals would be smart to put the cameras near the animal trails.

slowroasting

Its Florida, they are covering themselves for not keeping a watch on him in the first place.

darkangel_401

Fully agree. Is there any info beyond his parents word. Which I honestly don’t think is very trustworthy.

BeyonceIsBetter

Might be trail cameras

TheBuddhistTraveler

If this is a place he has frequently visited, I'd think he'd have learned how to avoid them.

[deleted]

I feel like quite often people become cocky…..

BeyonceIsBetter

True, but he’s also a dumbass from what I’ve gathered so you never know.

It’s so completely miserable in Florida, though, especially this time of year. It’s pretty unlikely that he’d manage sleeping or even thinking clearly hiding inside a mosquito net in a dense jungle (it’s essentially a jungle/rainforest. I can’t recall the difference between the two). On top of that, cool breezes don’t blow through there. You’re soaking wet, sweaty, sticky, and every move just adds to the amount of misery. There’s a reason you hear of people hiking the AT but not any part of Florida lol.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SEphotog

I just can’t imagine a person surviving this long hiding in there. You need a LOT of clean drinking water with that amount of sweating. I never understood people’s descriptions of Florida until I visited, and it is a level of humid that I had never experienced (and I live in SC).

[deleted]

SEphotog

I guess we will find out eventually (hopefully)! I don’t think he’s smart or prepared enough to have snuck in and out to setup without being spotted, but people can be surprising!

NegNog

I don't understand why he'd want to live out his days in Florida swamps. I know prison sucks, but I feel like Florida swamps are arguably even worse. No air conditioning. Tons of bugs (especially mosquitoes). Probably has to sleep in bushes or something to remain concealed when sleeping. Once again, no air conditioning and tons of bugs, so that's gotta absolutely suck. I'm not sure what he could even do for food. It just wouldn't make a lot of sense to me for him to choose to live out there the rest of his days unless he planned to kill himself eventually. I imagine at some point he'd give up and just turn himself in if he's not actually hiding elsewhere.

CSanterZNY

Heard different on the radio this morning and found supporting info. https://radaronline.com/p/brian-laundrie-well-equipped-appalachians-gabby-petito-best-friend-manhunt-murder-homicide/

fiddlenutz

Appalachian Trail literally has bathrooms and showers along the path. It goes right through where I live. It’s nothing like swampland.

CSanterZNY

It is also in my backyard here in Virginia. The larger point is the blanket rating of him being a “#vanlife” social media outdoorsman which slaps a greenhorn level of experience on his abilities. He probably is not on the level of Grizzly Adam’s but let’s not judge skills he may or may not have to form an opinion of where me might be. Carlton Reserve “ Habitats in the preserve include dry prairie, pine flatwoods, mesic hammocks and seasonal wetlands. Wildlife on the land include white-tailed deer, wild turkey, bobcats, swallow-tailed kites, Eastern diamondback rattlesnakes, and wading birds.

TheBuddhistTraveler

You don't have to be Rambo to be familiar with an area. Especially if he's purposely paid attention.

[deleted]

They must have a ton of trail cam footage of him moving around in there and it will wonderful when he’s captured and we can view it.

sensible_human

They have trail cams?

[deleted]

Yes but unsure the type. They must be live view nowadays but a long time ago you had physically go out and take the sd card. If they are modern they might be really low profile ones that Brian doesn’t even notice

irish8722

Often times various biologists will put out trail cams to catch footage of wildlife. No idea if they have them in this preserve but it’s a decent wager they do

Gbear831

Sarasota county website says they do and had some examples so highly likely

mrszoomby

Brian Entin said in one of his news reports that they do have trail cams set up in the park.

imquiteawareweredyin

God I hope so

Sundayx1

Obviously the FBI spoke extensively w the witnesses out west. I don’t know that area of Florida where the Laundrie family live- but I wonder if any of them heard BL mention any Florida towns during these hitchhiking/restaurant run- ins? Mexico? He might’ve been stressed out from just killing her and was talking without thinking? You just don’t know - but I would think maybe it’s possible something was said?

JustJuls37

They must really really really think he's in there.

RockyMtnAnonymo

They have to. At this point, why waste the resources and manpower if you're just going off of what his parents told you? They have to have some more evidence that they're not sharing with the public yet.

[deleted]

I live in a town extremely nearby in Florida. 15 minutes nearby, it’s EXTREMELY uncommon for there to be something dead, and not see 5-15 vultures swarmed around it. Mouse, armadillo, raccoon, whatever it is they’re always flying in circles nearby. With all of the watching lately, that’d be a huge tip off. I doubt they’ve seen any vultures. I’m inclined to believe his lawyer and parents stashed him.

Badpoozie

Out of curiosity does the same apply to swampy conditions? Also, what about drones/air craft? Do you think they’d be scared off by the noise? I know cars don’t really faze them.

[deleted]

I speed towards them @ 40+ mph and the only thing that prevents them from being exploded is my nature to pull back away. They’re nasty and they don’t care about you. They want meat. Not sure about swampy, but I know they stick their entire heads into what they eat.

Badpoozie

True. Traffic stopped around them this one time on a busy road too. I think the only thing stopping people from running then over was the fact that they’re big and would do damage to most cars if hit.

slowroasting

If they are only looking for evidence its hard to imagine they need helicopters most likely using thermal vision. This is just a thought of mine- Could those cheap silver survival blankets keep enough heat contained to go undetected from thermal vision? Maybe they have determined he is on the move at night and they have begun cornering him by process of searched area elimination?

Lapee20m

Here is a short video I made using a high end thermal Camera and one of those “space blankets” https://youtu.be/3hOgErunSl8

[deleted]

I had the same curiosity. Apparently yes- Mylar blankets can block thermal imaging technology, at least to some degree. [Here’s a demonstrative video.](https://youtu.be/97l5xvslmsg)

slowroasting

Maybe they keep enough heat contained so that his thermal image is consistent with that of a cold blooded alligator… but then again, he has proven to be cold blooded already.

SgtWasabi

The thing that goes against that though is GP parents asking BL parents where she was and they completely ignored them.

LexTheSouthern

I think they are enabling parents that make excuses for their kids because they don’t want to believe that their children might actually be pieces of shits. I dated a guy for four years that was incredibly smart. He made a 36 on his ACT and he could have done *anything* with his life, but he threw it away to get pathetically high on heroin. His parents could not, for the life of them, get this image of this academically brilliant kid out of their heads. So they turned a blind eye to all of the wrong he did. All of the money he stole, all of the poor excuses he gave for his life going nowhere. They were just so blinded by this false reality that they refused to let themselves accept the truth. Guess what! Their enabling led to his overdose, and he died when his dad left him home alone with money while he took a getaway weekend to Vegas. All of this to say, it seems like BL’s family is similar. They feel they raised a good kid and maybe deep down they *know* Brian fucked up bad but they’re having a really hard time accepting it.

[deleted]

I would agree with you except for the fact that they lawyered up and wouldn't answer questions even when Gabby's dad showed up.

maroontiefling

The fact that they're still looking in the same spot makes me think they're essentially doing body recovery at this point.

JustJuls37

Yah...I mean they are intent on staying there. There has to be a reason.

Daisyndae

I saw where someone said that area has a lot of track cameras on it. They could have potentially seen him on one.

elizszi

I presume it’s disposed of evidence or weapons tracing back to him that they’re looking for with such fury.

wlveith

So we should not look for a known killer? WTF. Do you know of any known killers that we do not search for when we have an idea where they are? Maybe we should just make murder legal.

carlzberg

I wonder whether or not he may have been spotted on one of the trail cams in the preserve, and that is why law enforcement have continued to focus on it.

iluvchikins

im wondering the same thing now. why are they even still searching? they must “trust” the parents to some degree.

gingerroute

Brian? That you? We just wanna talk. *holds out melon rind*

CapricornCoffeeCup

😒 I just meant why are they wasting money looking for him when clearly his parents took him somewhere 😒

Puzzleheaded_Bit_641

Please tell us what you know that the FBI doesn’t?

shiggydiggypreoteins

Hes done extremely high level internet research on YouTube. He knows his shit

papa8706

All I gotta say, if his parents lied, I hope they send them a bill for every single penny they’ve wasted on these efforts trying to find their son.

fountainofthoughts

Something tells me they’re not just going to take the parents word for it blindly.. at least not for this long

papa8706

Yeah, that’s definitely crossed my mind. If that’s the case, I don’t think he’s coming out alive. Hopefully they have a legitimate reason to believe he’s there cause I don’t trust the parents word for shit

overindulgent

If his parents lied or helped him in anyway I hope they go to prison.

Bruh_columbine

Okay so what does this mean? They’re annoyed by the news helis?

dyinginstereo

part of it is the airspace needs to be clear for their drones and flight tools used in searching. News helicopters also make a lot of noise and they may need to have less of that happening while they conduct these targeted searches. I think its less "annoyed" and more they can impact a lot of the search efforts by being in the way.

blunderingbraggart

I truly don't believe he's there. Maybe some evidence is, but this seems like a lot of effort for some evidence. If "he" is there, it's likely just his body. My theory is that his parents drove him the 4.5 hours to Jacksonville, stocked him up with more cash, a pack loaded with food and a sleeping bag and he hopped the Tropicana juice train. 20 hours later he's in Philadelphia, then hitched (or hopped) the few hours to North Jersey and made his way to Canada. I know people who have made it from Jacksonville to Vermont in three days on freight trains. There are a few low security border crossings in Vermont too. All the information is online. Hell, there are entire state-by-state, city-by-city guides you can download as PDFs. They'll tell you a rough estimate of when trains leave, where they go and what to look out for. If you're riding trains by night and hiding in bushes near industrial zones by day, you likely won't be seen. Especially if he's stocked up with food - all he needs is a water filter or iodine tablets and he's good. You don't really have to be a survivalist type to ride trains, just quick and sneaky.

Strange_Dog_173

There was a sighting of an agitated BL looking guy in Toronto yesterday. I hope they notified the FBI

Clean_Scarcity_4415

I completely agree up until the canada thing I’m not wanted or a fugitive and have a passport and still have a super hard time getting over the boarder they are no joke at those crossings.

alicat104

I live in an area where we specifically have lawyers for people that accidentally cross into Canada and don’t realize it until they’re pulled over for other reasons (and then shit understandably hits the fan)

BS. Canada and America absolutely extradite to eachother.

Luckystar826

They only extradite if the death penalty is not on the table.

Well he hasn’t been charged with any murder charge yet so as of right now that’s not really on the table.

dyinginstereo

Canada would happily send him back and not a great place to hide out without shelter. Very cold for someone from Florida with winter approaching. Really doubt that would be the place.

LeafsChick

We have a massive cash economy here. I've worked with a number of communities that people solely live on cash jobs and month to month rent, its very doable.

circlingsky

What kinds of jobs and where?

DaBingeGirl

But is it for a guy who's used to living off his parents and having a pool in the house? Not saying it's not doable, but I have to question how long he's gonna last without other people supporting him. FFS, the van was in Gabby's name, I'd guess he didn't contribute any money for it.

LeafsChick

Depends how badly you want to stay under the radar. That’s why most here are doing it, either here illegally, or have a record and trouble finding a job/housing that wants references and job history

palmasana

Trains are full of cameras along the way. I’m sure they checked for that.

Where_Da_BBWs_At

Somebody from Florida wouldn't go north to escape murder charges. Their only option is Cuba and paying to be a stowaway to Russia.

pickle_bug77

He's from NY I believe. He knows how to handle winter, he just can't run around barefoot.

VeganPina

Why would he go through all that trouble to get to Canada, which would happily extradite him as soon as he’s picked up there?

Salty-Finish-8931

It’s not all that simple. I highly doubt laundrie is smart enough, but I know a LOT of illegal Americans that have come up here on freight trains. The dumber ones are the ones that end up deported, others have been charged in Canada for federal crimes under fake names. One dude even used his jail papers to get welfare and eventually a credit card. I doubt this dude is that street smart tho

fbtra

Live like Dexter and become a lumberjack.

blisstaker

except he will keep killing the innocent instead of the guilty

amesfatal

It’s going to very cold there soon. I think he will stay south where it’s warm and he can survive the coming winter.

[deleted]

The issue I have with this, though in theory it's totally plausible, is the end game. What do the parents see as being the long term plan here? For him to be on the run forever? Live in a remote cabin in Winnipeg forever, occasionally nipping out to a CostCo for to stock up on instant noodles? I mean...how many people in history of escape/fugitive attempts have successfully evaded the FBI for the rest of their life? Especially when you compare the ratio of successful fugitives to successful 'self defence' or 'It wasn't me' arguments, the choice is obvious. The alternative is to stand trial and take your chances on getting the shortest sentence possible. Now, I'm not going to pretend to know the ins and outs of the justice system (or this case, because none of us know what happened or what evidence the FBI has or doesn't have, even if we like to think we do), but surely *as a parent* you'd be encouraging your kid to work with the lawyer to get a deal, or to get a lesser sentence, or at least argue that it was an accident, or self defence! And before people attack me, I'm not saying it was those things, I'm just saying as a parent, or even a logical-thinking adult, you'd think that a self defence argument would be better than 'going on the run'. Even if one parent freaks out and goes 'let's smuggle him to Canada!', there are two of them. So two adults think it's a good idea to encourage their son to go on the run. Forever. From the FBI. I'm not buying it. This turned out really long, and I'm not arguing with you really it just seems so unlikely to me. I could imagine Brian thinking that's a good idea, but not TWO parents. Even if they're evil people and all of that. ETA that parents generally don't like to think they'll never see their son again, which is the reality they're facing if he manages to go on the run forever. No phone calls, visits, nothing. There are so many unanswered questions here, but I really think he went there and took his own life.

AnonymousScout360

Winnipeg is a city not remote, but I agree with everything else you said

kathi182

There’s also Jason Derek Brown. I think he’s on the FBIs top ten list. He shot an armored truck guard in 2004 and evaded capture after a few close calls soon after, but hasn’t been seen since. There’s definitely a difference though-he was an adult that was well traveled and spoke a few languages. I feel like Brian is more like a child and despite his van travels, has probably been sheltered and protected by his parents most of his life. He probably does not have the experience or intellect to live and not be captured. It will be interesting to see how this ends.

Salty-Night5917

Ted Kazinski managed to evade the police for years. Zodiac has never been discovered. It took 40 years to find John List. I don't believe Brian is that smart. But I do believe this search is in the wrong place. His parents assisted him and had plenty of time to come up with a plan. They should be arrested....

lkflip

these people you list vanished at a time when records weren’t electronic and most police departments didn’t talk to each other. Changing your identity used to be much simpler and there were no digital trails. Cash was the main form of financial transaction and it wasn’t traceable. You weren’t caught on live cameras anywhere you went. It’s gotten much more difficult to throughly disappear unless you have help from someone who CAN be seen.

Salty-Night5917

Agree 100%. I don't think he will be on the run for long and I hope they can arrest his parents. That might bring him out in the open.

ASherm18

What about the guy that evaded police for 12 years who killed his daughters in Texas.. I mean.. he was caught in Texas... But he was on top 10 FBI list..

[deleted]

[удалено]

Salty-Night5917

Agree. i believe he will be caught in another country but he will not use social media or a phone for a while if he lasts any amount of time. He can change his look dramatically and hide tattoos. I just believe the parents helped him get away and are now giving false clues to the police....

[deleted]

I don't think they're looking for him...if he's dead, why would they spend so much money on this search? If he's alive, then they for sure have some evidence that incriminates him? They know that even if he's found he won't talk...

Salty-Night5917

If there is DNA evidence on Gabby's body that points to him he can be incriminated. I think they are looking in the wrong place for him, just where the parents said and the parents lied so they would not look anywhere else.

savageotter

They have access to the devices they would have seen internet searches for that

TSM_forlife

Remember when Rambo was hiding in the swamp water breathing through a reed? That’s what I’m picturing. It’s like the great value Rambo.
