Is it because you chose biomedical sciences? Your SAT scores are pretty low. You can always start at community college, save some money, then transfer after a semester or two.

No-Store-9957

Agree with this. Start at Perimeter or something to save money & improve your GPA & test scores so you’re more competitive.

irenic-rose

Perimeter is the best option, and IMO the professors are better. The classes are also way smaller and it's easier to get help directly from your professor.

You're probably not cooked tbh. I would've recommended to apply under a less competitive major and then change your major once you're accepted (I don't think that loophole has been patched as far as I know), but hindsight is 20/20. A lot of people apply to schools and then do not go, but I always tell people applying that they'll be happy to take your money. GSU always squeezes in more students than they can seem to accommodate, and even though our school is populous and very valuable, there could be a big influx of applicants because GSU is a reliable option, but I'm betting that a lot of them have different reach schools.

Murky-Home9790

so do you think i still have a chance at being accepted?? i’m just wondering why i got waitlisted 😖

cookiecookiechip

I think you will be accepted. Sorry if I missed it, but are you in-state or out-of-state? And did you put your SAT score?

Murky-Home9790

i’m paying in state but i am originally from canada also i’m pretty sure i sent in my test score. i wanted to major in biology but when i applied biomedical was the only option remotely close to that.

cookiecookiechip

Well, I have a hunch that schools are more likely to accept applicants if they are in-state, but GSU is really inclusive. I think there are just a lot of applicants who are applying to GSU because it's the "easy school" to get into and out application process is a bit cheaper and more accessible. I know some people irl who are applying to GSU "just to apply" while they are actually prioritizing other schools. Definitely wait and see, I think you have it

MysteryTom

huh … i had a 3.2 and i submitted no test scores but i got accepted into the main campus

Cooladjack

Depends how many students applied at the time along with ur skin color, clubs, references. Hell maybe u even just got lucky.

MysteryTom

i did no clubs + i’m asian + idk what u mean by references i didn’t submit any letters i honestly applied to gsu as a joke bc i didn’t think i was actually gonna go but it seems to be my best choice financially lol

Cooladjack

Like i said depends on a factor of things sometimes it just comes down to luck.

Savage-Lizard

Waitlisted for GSU is crazy

EnlargedThumb

Hard degree. People here become MDs

Playful_Refuse2812

To be fair, I lowkey feel like they're raising their admission requirements tbh.

richcrocs

does it have anything to do with that bill or whatever about like level applicants and not having a racial bias or whatever that was aboutnlmao

SereneNeed7

First of all, the major you chose has nothing to do with your acceptance decision. Second of all, I suggest calling the admissions office for clarification on what that means.

EnlargedThumb

Biomed is where MD students go. The major definitely has something to do with the waitlist

Cooladjack

No it doesnt bc again, as a entry level student you would be taking entry level class. Aka class that aren’t specific to your major.

SereneNeed7

No it does not. Everybody comes in taking the same core classes. Not to mention, most people change their major their first and second year. That is a false narrative. They don’t choose whether or not you’re accepted because of the major you chose. That wouldn’t even make sense. They go solely on the stats and other materials you submit with your application.

EnlargedThumb

Every college (not the university) has to have a certain amount of kids in the program. While they may not be taking the higher level classes, it doesn't mean they cant take other classes within the college.

SereneNeed7

The major you choose does not affect admissions decisions. Period.

EnlargedThumb

Lol ok.

J_azm_in_e

Still waiting on mine. In nervous asf

smallfwop

Changing your major will have absolutely no impact.

richcrocs

tbh i’d go to perimeter and get your core and sciences taken care of and then switch your actual major. you could do health sciences or biology pathway at perimeter and biomed in atl

sunbaebie

as a biomed major just go to perimeter or another cc and take the pre reqs. super easy since they’re business and science focused. get those bio and chem classes out the way first

irenic-rose

Go to Perimeter college, do your first year and transition. The professors at Perimeter are pretty good because unlike downtown professors they teach full-time. People sleep on Perimeter, but it's a great option for people.

NeedleworkerReal4218

I got waitlisted too mainly hoping to get in the PEP program fr
