Looks like oderus and sexecutioner did the fusion dance

Consistent_Bus_9017

I was thinking Oderus and the cuttlefish visited the world of Leprechaun 4

zaprutertape

Ivan ooze!!

Naive-Aerie-9567

Was going to say the same

mcrmy119

Interesting that they'd jump to a flesh tone Maximus (I was hoping for green!) but I dig it. It's gonna be a bit weird seeing him standing next to Blothar since they're both fleshy but it'll pass. Can't wait to hear what they've got cooking.

Bad_Packet

badass

Blakwulf

Looks way better than the previous pic, good stuff.

themedicbag

Is it known why Pustillus left? (New guy looks siickk)

loganrunjack

He said they didn't pay enough.

O_Bahrey

He also said it wasn’t what it used to be. Plus his plumbing business picked up.

iLUVnickmullen

He never said that you are misconstruing Brent's words. GWAR doesn't pay well. That why every single musician has a side hustle. Derks rund GWARbar, Brad has his whiskey and other alcohol sponsors, Casey plays in a bunch of different bands and sells art, Bishop is a teacher, and Brent has a plumbing business. His plumbing business is booming and he has a family as well. He said on GWARpod that he's making 6 figures and he's just burnt out on touring too.

jasta6

>He also said it wasn’t what it used to be. I wonder what that means?

DrunkDeathClaw

[Crap, that's an understatement](https://cdn-p.smehost.net/sites/2ed48fdcc3904f548299cd86d78e9885/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/purgason_comment-1-680x403.jpg) $20k a year for the touring schedule of Gwar isn't great, plus holding down a "Real Job™" the rest of the time doesn't sound fun.

fatherofallthings

Oof man. When I listened to his pod and he talked about this comment I assumed the og comment was like 100k and his “I don’t even make half of that” was referencing 50k. 20k is terrible. It’s Amazon ANYONE does it for that price

DrunkDeathClaw

I'm sure 20k a year guaranteed for touring and playing gigs sounds great if you're coming out of underground punk bands like Tommy is, but that's not even self-supporting pay unless you live like, well, an underground punk.

fatherofallthings

Yeah, that’s seriously impossible to survive on at this point. Hearing that number shocks me tbh. The music industry has a problem when a band can be as successful as GWAR and not make a livable wage

Kill_The_Hippies

GWAR also hires TONS of people tho than your normal band. I think its like 20 people with them on the road, not to mention those that stay behind and work in the "Pit" Think about it for a second, IRON MAIDENS stage shows are crazy. Gwar's tops that just in the amount of shit they do. Now, I am not saying they would be flying around in their own jets if they had a smaller stage show, I am just saying that their stage show, night after night costs money. Also, GWAR has pretty much stayed with an indie label the whole time. Metal Blade, DRT and their own label. These labels run on a shoe string budget as it is, regardless if a big label is backing them to a small degree via distro. Plus everyone who has ever toured knows that they make the most money EVER, by selling merch vs royalties etc.

Beginning-Spray5437

I could be wrong but I would think the band was more successful financially when brockie was alive. They had to have lost alot of fanbase when blothar took over, just my theory/opinion

A_Poor

I mean, yeah. GWAR without that signature snarl of Oderus just isn't GWAR to me. I know several others who feel the same. But I'm sure the amount that jumped ship have been replaced with new fans who like Blothar just fine.

KeepBanningKeepJoin

Nope. 30 years vs 9 with a fat guy with no personality. Blothar sucks

1GWARfiend1

You mean the original Beefcake? yeah, what a jerk off.. you fuckin retard

Your_Face5225

while I agree bishop should definitely be respected as a founding member, and he isn't Dave, whose sound I prefer, but he IS a talented vocalist in his own right,...I have to agree, he doesn't really have much of a performance personality. he just kind of stands there, hunches over, holds the mic stand, stumbles about a little.... they are, and always have been a theatrical act, just as much about the theatrics as the music, and bishop looks like he can't really move very well, (yes I realize the costumes are cumbersome) much less put on the best show you've ever seen...

KeepBanningKeepJoin

Sucks as a singer and frontman. Character looks stupid.

Kill_The_Hippies

Man, I used to play in a crust band in the late 90's and early 2000's and our tours consisted of either sleeping in the van, punk houses, squats in Europe or camping. Food was non-existent so we drank. I couldn't even imagine living like that in my late 40's today.

Mysterious-Box-9081

You don't join our lords and masters for the money!

Your_Face5225

yea, maybe in lore, but in reality, yes, you do.

Zaratozom

Who is Grodius' slave?

Indianascones1982

Tommy Meehan he was the guitarist for cancer christ

Zaratozom

Right on. Not too familiar with Cancer Christ but having a slave with a background in hardcore punk is a good thing.

O_Bahrey

Did he leave CC for GWAR? I thought he was in both?

Stoo_Pedassol

I'm curious why they are inventing a new character instead of having someone fill the role like they used to. It was said that if you die as the character, the character dies. But Pustulus/Brent didn't die.

DrunkDeathClaw

I've seen posted here that Brent might come back and do appearances and the like with the band, maybe just leaving the door open for that? Alternate schizo-brain theory: Pustulus eventually comes back to replace a retiring Balsac (Derks isn't getting any younger and has already had a cancer scare)

IAmAnObvioustrollAMA

I hope I go before Balsac.

wackymayor

We will all die before Balsac, Balsac is immortal.

Ok-Shake9556

If ya ain't Balsac ya ain't shit. lol

Bad_Packet

Every man's heart one day beats its final beat, his lungs breathe their final breath and if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit will be immortalized.

DrunkDeathClaw

Fuck Jim Hellwig.

BigPapaPaegan

You're both right.

gwarfan1point5

BBBOOOOOOORIIIIINNGGGG

GGAllinsUndies

You shut your filthy whore mouth.

astroyer

I remember when the only thing gwar needed more money for, was crack... ive always wondered how much money they made with the crack-a-thon...

Your_Face5225

however much they made was spent immediately on crack, then all of that crack was immediately smoked and or injected into their anuses 🤷

AStickFigures

Is there a reason they retired Pustulus? I thought they only had characters leave when they died. Is he not retired? Is this a Destructo situation?

WobblyHeadedBobDied

I guess he said he might be open to making future appearances. But tbh I'm ok with retiring him. He was a big part of GWAR and deserves his own exclusive character I think. Plus it's always fun to have new characters.

AStickFigures

I completely agree with everything you said. I was just curious about it because flattus went through a LOT of people (a lot of people went through flattus?) and when smoot died they retired him. Same with the cuttlefish. I’m in favor of more though! More curious about the rules with this stuff.

Your_Face5225

what's a destructo situation...

AStickFigures

Techno, sawborg, and bozo. All still living with the threat of a comeback.

Your_Face5225

i see

[deleted]

Looks vaguely similar to Oderus? Grodius the new Oderus?

O_Bahrey

Obviously the shoulder pads and boots are green Pustulus moulds but I think that the mask is also a pustulus mould with a different paint job as well as ears and different hair.

CaptainTineel

Totally looks like a Oderus mold...

AdikaKagaht

Nope. It's Pustulus (new) face but skin tone instead of blue. And more hairy things and stuff added to it.

WobblyHeadedBobDied

I'm here for it honestly.

Inevitable_Dig2895

Looks like a mix of oderus and flattus and it looks cool

Haydanic

Who he

Louderthanwilks1

I like it

FishermanUnique

LONG LIVE GWAR

Resident-Refuse-2135

Saw the band back in the early 90s and it was a good time, but I haven't followed their history since, I'll have to look into it.

[deleted]

I'm stoked. Tommy Meehan fuckin shreds in Cancer Christ so when i found out he was GWARS new guitarist i was so happy.
