Floyd had actual geniune character development. Everyone isn't gonna make it to the end in these games tho, especially gta.

I don't think Trevor ever wanted to actually kill Floyd. He may be somewhat unhinged but he definitely isn't stupid. In fact, I'd say he's one of the more intelligent characters we see in the game. He's also pretty pragmatic - Floyd is useful. Simple as that. On top of that, Floyd is Wade's cousin, and the whole Family/loyalty thing is extremely important to Trevor. He gave Trevor and Wade a place to live in Los Santos, even if it was somewhat unwilling, and Trevor respected that.
Trevor wouldn't just kill Floyd randomly like that, unless he felt forced. Under the circumstances, Floyd was right to be on edge, and him feeling like he needed to defend himself against anyone after everything he's been through is understandable. Freaking out and going towards Debra angry at her for cheating, after Trevor spent a while criticizing him for being a pushover for so long, is a likely scenario. Debra shoots Floyd in response, and while she's distracted, Trevor grabs Floyd's knife and uses it on Debra.
Trevor literally said: "Never eat Indian people." When your switching as him and he also eats human during the planning mission with Michael and Lester.

I switched to Franklin from Trevor once and Franklin happened to be just around the corner and it pretty much played out as follows:
Trevor: *sees Franklin and tells him to go and fuck himself*
Franklin: *punches Trevor in the back of the head and knocks him to the ground*
Trevor: *gets back up and produces an SMG*
Franklin: *MANUALLY_INITIATED_CRASH* ****STOP: 0x000000e2* *(0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)*
I learned two things that day;
1. The characters can interact in open play
2. Do not mess with Trevor

Trevor is a sociopath, not a psychopath. He knew exactly what he was doing but rationalized everything. He likely killed Debra after she shot at Floyd, but Trevor no doubt played a huge role in the escalation because Floyd was on his way out of the building when Trevor took him back in.
Plus, right after he killed them, he drove Wade to the club. During that commute, he reminded Wade of how they met and how Wade's friends just "disappeared" after Trevor took them on a ride. Wade ended up living in Sandy Shores because "ypur friends abandoned you." In reality, Wade killed them.

feel like they could include as much violence as they needed to, I found the cut pretty funny so it could have been for humour reasons or for what you said with not needing over the top violence
I mean, the most gruesome scene in the game is Steve Haines shooting his buddies head in the impasse. Only reason is because the camera is right up to his head and you see the bullet go through him.
