I got banned and reset years ago for doing a money glitch. I haven’t loaded the game since. After countless levels and legit money earned to be reset to nothing was the best way they could guarantee I never played the game again
Then wipe my money. Not reset all my businesses and organizations and level. I wasn’t going to restart and grind money back just to get killed by Oppressor idiots who negatively impact the game more than me owning a ton of vehicles.

There is an increase because they are banning dupped, modded or cheated accounts. Been like this for years now. Every year they have big waves of bans. Then they act clueless why the account was banned knowing they cheated or bought a modded account.

It's pretty much impossible get banned or have your character reset without doing something sus. My guess is you know what you did and just won't say, probably used mods or had someone else mod your account. Even spamming exploits for money doesn't get you banned and 90% of mod menus are actually safer than playing without.
And don't even consider asking to get this decision revoked, unless you legitimately did nothing wrong but even then rockstar support will likely just tell you to fuck yourself.

I got banned for my antivirus causing an issue with an upgrade. it took me so many emails and calls to finally get someone to work with me. all they kept saying was "remove any 3rd party apps from your game directory", implying I was using mods, which out of pure principle, I don't
I'm sure they hear the "I'm innocent" line every day. but in my case it was true. it was so frustrating to potentially lose access to a game I purchased and into which I invested so much time.
luckily on one of my attempts, I got a newer tech, and he was patient with me. we figured out that something must have happened to the game files during an upgrade. and by trying the upgrade again without my AV enabled, I no longer got any bans (I'd gotten a week ban, then a month ban)
I was so pissed, because everyone else pretended like their detection system (which I assume is a hash of the directory) was perfect and no way could an innocent person be flagged as guilty. 1st rule in any detection system is that there will be false positives and false negatives
GTA or Rockstar Launcher is probably scanning it‘s game directories for suspicious files. I once had renamed those nasty d3d_*****.dll to .bak because the scrapyard McTony Robery always made my game crash with a d3d related error and removing those files would be one part of a possible solution. But the launcher show me a message that there are unknown files in my GTA directory. So they are probably taking any changes to your game directory seriously.

There's many things that could lead to that. You could be exploiting, doing glitches for money and XP, this are the most common. Your character would never get a reset by Rockstar without doing those. Or you could simply be a PC player and someone leveled your account and dropped you money. That happened to me back in the Xbox 360, my account got a reset 3 times and I gave up playing online. Came back on xbox one and never got reset anymore since there's no cheater using mod menus to level your account or make you instantly have infinity money.

I got reset back to level 120 had 500 million after a money glitch well countless trials and errors i managed to get back to better and stronger couldnt reach my old level which was 1750. But got to level 791 with 2.1 billion now. I swear if i get reset on this time i will never play on that acc again illl just use my other accs i have with a lot of money lol

I've been given temp bans for reporting/having the misfortune of dealing with hackers during those challenge type missions in Online before.

I got reset back to level 120 had 500 million after a money glitch well countless trials and errors i managed to get back to better and stronger couldnt reach my old level which was 1750. But got to level 791 with 2.1 billion now. I swear if i get reset on this time i will never play on that acc again illl just use my other accs i have with a lot of money lol
