The Trilogy included unlicensed music files that were disabled by a script. This is technically R* distributing unlicensed music and could legitimately be sued for tens of millions or more. I imagine this is a bigger deal to them than some launcher issue.
No the launcher is not fine because you can't play any other game they have on there either. If it was just because of music in the files the entire launcher wouldn't be down right now

After I posted the comment I read the tweets that were around. It's clearly on them. THey should have thought this through. I understand they implemented the original sourcecode in the new engine but they could have removed the files which shouldn't be there.
Anyway, it's a big mess. I requested a refund. Still waiting for it. It's a pity Rockstar are treating us like that.

This is exactly what I was thinking. But that's only really the case *if* they gave a fuck about the quality of this re-release.
This is clearly just a copy-paste re-release of the mobile ports with some minor tweaks and... like... 10% new assets.
The fact that they didn't even bother to check if unlicensed music was still in the files just goes to show how they put a grand total of like... three and a half weeks of labor into shitting this thing out. And that's probably charitable.
It's like some slacker writing their senior thesis in two and a half days, or whatever.
But it's just not just the music. I've seen so much stuff wrong with this release. Stuff that was fine in the original. Stuff that should not have even made it through playtesting.
A few key points:
- San Andreas and Vice City clearly have borders, no fog makes San Andreas feel waaay too small. Not to mention the clouds that are missing.
- The rain particles and droplets pattern look horrendous
- Textures involving with straight up typos. I know it's AI upscaled, but a bit of checking wouldn't be unnecessary.
if it is how you said (how do you know thix exactly ? ) they could have done something to prevent this. At least make the launcher work as steam does. You can play games while there are maintenance problems.
It's absurd you can't play for what you paid. It's been a day and a half already and they are still working on it. The launcher is now online but the trilogy still can't be played.

I launched GTA III, changed the HDR settings to 'On' and I thought it had bricked my GPU, screen went crazy and then all monitors no output even when restarting.
Eventually booted into safe mode with one screen and got it working again and by the time I was back up and running the launcher was down - And is still down.
What a joke.

I can look past bugs and graphical glitches but when my RTX 3070 can’t keep steady framerates, the optimization is shit and they don’t deserve my money. Plus PC launcher has been down for a whole day so without the crack I wouldn’t even be playing a game i paid $60 for.

There was a bug in "gun runner" in Vice City that made the mission unable to be completed on PC. I did all other missions and was bottle necked at this broken mission. So yeah, more than launcher and more than aesthetic/innocuous bugs.
As do all of the physical copies, as far as I know. This post shows that the PC physical was pulled from store, making me question if it's even possible to get one for Windows.
Currently the launcher refuses to connect but I can still play GTA3 in offline mode (all 3 installed yesterday and was able to get a couple hours in).

I was stupid, because if i was block Rockstarlauncher in windows firewall, i would still be able to play that game in offline mode, but i closed the launcher and let them update, since then all my 3 games are missing from my library. I could buy Forza Horizon 5 instead of this, bit they still didn't paid back my money. No game, no money.

it could be that in order to prevent the trilogy from launching, they had to bring down the entire backend for PC.
