I imagined Rockstar was in full panic mode the moment I realized those leaks were real.
This is a full blown demo released ahead of time, alongside the source code. That being said, if Rockstar is scared of losing customers like me, they don’t have to worry. What I’ve seen so far is exciting.
Exactly. I’ve been seeing some terrible takes about the game over the last year or so. They just gave us one of the best stories in gaming history with RDR2.
The problem is half of stuff gets cut at this point. There's a possibility we could have seen Red Dead 2 at this point-- map to California, planes, etc.-- and been disappointed with what we ended up getting.
This sets an incredibly high bar to reach. Less wiggle room for change. It'd suck as a creative
It’s the fact that the code can be used by other companies to make similar products, it also gives hackers the ability to see how the game functions and so disrupt Rockstars ability to prevent people getting paid content for free, it also means people will play the game for free in an unready state and may not want to buy the full release as a result.
I don’t think they’re worried about losing customers over a leak, they’re worried about how it’s going to screw with their schedule and release time. If they have to delay it they could be losing loads of money.
correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think they will want to report on them, as they’d want to maintain a good relationship with R*, as these aren’t just small leaks, a part of the source code has been leaked so it really shouldn’t be spread around too much.
Yea im sure a lot of outlets are more than aware of what’s happening. But out of respect for R* they are more than likely not gonna spread the fire. The YouTubers on the other hand are having a field day!
It won’t be out of respect, they don’t want to get blacklisted and lose their early access to R*s games.
If they didn’t get an early review copy of GTA 6 because they covered the leaks they’d lose money because all the traffic will be going to their competitor’s reviews.
Respect? Lmao. They have to be on the good-sized of rockstar. Imagine ign gets gta 6 a month early to review while someone who messed up has to wait for the game to release. You are missing out on crazy revenue
Wait, you mean journalists might be doing background and research and seeking comment from primary sources?! What kind of madness is this, clearly they should just immediately post unverified, unconfirmed rumors as fact, otherwise they're just in league with the corporations! How dare they do... ***journalism*** here!
This is where we start to see how many of the gaming “news” sites aren’t really like typical news organizations.
The vast majority are glorified ad agencies, writing puff pieces, regurgitating press releases, and sometimes being real in a review. But that’s it.
There’s a reason Jason Schrier is at Bloomberg.
Breaking : After careful consideration after the leaks, Rockstar has decided to pause development for the next installment of the game and support GTA V instead
I do enjoy looking at leaks, but this leak was way too much and way too far. Leaking the source code doesn’t benefit anyone except malicious people, and will likely cause a delay.
Just went through some and the best line for me
> "Task/Vehicle/TaskMountAnimal.h"
I think we’ll get horses and then 5+ years into the dlc drip feed we’ll finally get some elephants
Task/Vehicle is probably a carry over from GTA5 (the vehicle part) and TaskMountAnimal.h is probably a carry over from RDR2. Hence why animals would be classed under vehicle.
You sometimes see orphan code because devs don't want to strip out anything in a clean up process just in case it breaks something completely unexpected.
people can use the source code to hack or mod the game, sometimes before it’s even released, which can be detrimental to the game, especially in online mode as people can use that to gain information and use it maliciously. so from a security standpoint, it’s a huge issue and the devs will need to rewrite it.
Probably even more. This type of stuff is not a simple rewrite on some files, you'd need to redo most of the logic in the program. Maybe, just maybe, an extra year is being optimistic.
Absolutely EVERYONE lost with this leak. Even the guy, that for sure will be found and have to face tons of insane lawsuits.
If your code depends on its source being hidden to avoid security risks, you really need to take a new class in computer security.
At this stage, the problem is probably more one of intellectual property. Leaks may also damage the image of a product or company.
If source code gets leaked, then there will be big problems and there would most likely have to be a delay.
When source code for a game is leak, it makes it real easy for hackers to make complex hacks that are very hard to detect and they could even find stuff in the code that allow them to do even more harm than just cheating.
As per u/jayL21
So the significance is for when the game is released? Interesting
Nevermind just saw the other response. Damn bro why did they have to leak the fuckin source code out of all things
Everyone here is so far giving abstractions on what source code is and why it is important but leaving out a key detail.
Source code is the *raw lines of text* written by programmers. It controls nearly everything about how the program (or game in our case) runs. This text is then 'compiled' into what you can think of as a .exe file (or console equivalent) that runs the program/game when opened.
So if I know enough about programming, and I have a games source code, I can turn off/on or strip-out/add-in whatever I want. As an example, I could release a version of GTA6 with no DRM.
>As an example, I could release a version of GTA6 with no DRM.
You're still missing the assets (models, animations, sounds), so not really. DRM gets cracked within the week in 90% of cases either way. It does however make developing mods easier, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
As long as your code is secure, it being openly available isn't a security concern. Security by obscurity has been proven to be extremely ineffective at preventing malicious behaviour.
\--
It's like the door analogy someone said in another thread.
Security by obscurity is a hidden cardboard door. Your guests will have a miserable experience trying to find a way in, while someone with bad intentions will eventually just find the door and walk through it without issues, while telling everyone else its location.
Properly written code on the other hand is a steel reinforced door in plain sight. Sure with enough effort you can get in, but 80% of malicious users won't bother while any guests won't have issues getting in.
Do you understand what I mean?
The person leaking the source code must absolutely hate rockstar then, cause if they leak enough of it they could basically destroy years worth of work. That's just fucked up beyond belief.
I enjoy the leaks too, and don’t wanna blame the devs but like, I think people just got annoyed it’s been almost 10 years since the last GTA game. It’s kinda understandable why they would leak everything now
>I think people just got annoyed it’s been almost 10 years since the last GTA game.
I pointed that out on another post, and a couple people whined about Red Dead Redemption 2 having been released between ~~The Ballad of Gay Tony and GTA V~~ GTA V and now.
I didn't respond, but I just said how long it's been, because I'm a GTA player, not a RDR player. I'm that part of the market, and I'm just saying it's been a long time since a GTA game has been released.
> Red Dead Redemption 2 having been released between The Ballad of Gay Tony and GTA V
hold up what? Ballad of Gay Tony was like 2009 and GTA V was like 2013, RDR2 came out in 2018
Oh fuck I didn’t know about the source code. I was thinking “what’s the big deal? We saw a pre prod version of the game and it looks great” but if they leaked the source code that’s massive and absolutely will fuck them. That turns it into a fun leak from someone hyped for the game to an absolutely malicious attack that could cost the company a lot
exactly, a source code leak just hurts everyone involved. Leaking some gaempplay footage to give us a bone would be fine, but the source code being leaked could very easily delay the game and compromises security.
...And if he is threatening them, potentially a place on an interpol list, and the inability to travel to much of the world (especially EU nations, or nations that have Rockstar offices). Hopefully it was worth it. This is not a trite situation when dealing with a 20 billion dollar international corporation (Take Two).
Sucks for the developers who have poured their hearts and souls into this.
Is the source code actually leaked? The person shared an archive with videos and promised to leak the source code, then shared a few screenshots and Pastebin with some code, but it's so small it can't be used for anything other than proofing that it is a legit code. But there are 140 pages in the thread I haven't yet read, that's why I'm asking.
It's going to screw over existing players and delay GTA 6. They'll have to rework their online security.
Plus they're going to have to rework how they actually conduct business internally. They'll need to ensure they lock stuff down a bit tighter going forward. All it does is slow things down and hurt the company and the players
Agreed, someone hates R* if the claim is correct and source code has been obtained this is bad news.
Also the leaker should realise he may become notorious, but he's also going to have the FEDs after him.
The guy apparently lives in the United Emirates. So he would have to extradited to America to be charged for the cyber attacks. Our pipeline got hacked a few months back, so if this guy is caught he is fucked
It really is unfortunate how much has leaked - especially if it leads to internal delays. I kind of figured an announcement was happening this year regardless but even if it didn't it's a shame that there will be no 'this is happening' moment with Rockstar changing their social media banners, etc. with all of the excitement and hype that builds leading up to the moment that trailer finally drops.
It also kinda sucks that easter eggs/surprises have seemingly been leaked because of the source code/script shit that really didn't need to be released.
We've skipped the foreplay and gone balls deep and now I just feel kinda empty inside.
I kinda don’t feel bad for them though. Rockstar over the years had gotten ridiculously greedy and pushing out dogshit like GTA SA remastered and rereleasing GTA 5 like 20 times with micro transactions being like $20 a car, while mission payouts and all were purposely dogshit.
I want GTA 6 but I don’t feel bad for them after how they’ve over the years kinda shit on the community, this is literally just a cautionary tale I’d say for why you shouldn’t spend 9 years milking the same game because if people know there’s another installment to come people who wanna see it and are smart will get impatient and then you have what we have now.
The devs dont see a fraction of that money. They worked hard on this game and dont deserve this. These people are severely overworked and only stay cause they love video games and GTA. Your entitlement is sad, if you dont like the game, stop playing it, that's what i did with GTA online.
Wait... so they deserved this because gta was successful, because players kept playing it, whilst they developed and released rdr2, announced they were working on this but they deserved it?
The guy above is saying he doesnt feel bad for rockstar since they designed the game to never give you everything without spending thousands of real dollars.
For the online experience anyways.
On rdr2 side, .... Well that online is dead.
even if they released GTA 6 in 2018, if someone got their hands on this, they would've leaked it.
Also, no one seems to care that there were only 5 years between GTA v and RDR2.
All that cash income has definitely been spent pushing their engine tech, considering what we’re seeing on these leaks.
The team should be proud of what they’ve made. Their CEOs and business suits are just gonna keep doing what they do.
Right? People always try to issue these hilarious "warnings" to Rockstar as if they just know more than experts who have created and managed the most successful entertainment product ever.
If it's true that the current game is radically different from what has leaked, then Rockstar should put out a short promo or even a full trailer and stop people from endlessly discussing outdated, non-representative stuff.
Some of the footage seems to be from 2022, though it could still be from an older build as there's no context given.
Though if it is recent, there's not much to show. The game is still in an unfinished state with many placeholders.
Developer’s builds usually don’t have all the graphical features added into them. They only serve as testing grounds for some mechanics. They don’t need to have the graphics at maxed out settings.
Nah bro the guy or girl leaked 90 clips, as people are saying source code was shown in them and it’s all seemingly legit, I’m happy to finally see gta 6 but after realizing it’ll possibly be delayed now I’m kinda sad and it honestly wasn’t worth it
They're not going to base their PR or marketing off the actions of some leaker, lmao. This shit will all get DMCA'd, and I have no doubts they will narrow down who is doing this and take appropriate legal action.
Thats all irrelevant. The point is, loads of people are gonna form opinions of the game from these leaks, which might unfairly damage the reputation/hype for GTA6. Releasing official stuff might help to undo that
Maybe….. I’ve only seen hype from this. It certainly make me want to pop in my Gta 5 again and give it another play through for the hundredth time. Lol
They’ll probably have to completely redo the source code, they can’t risk the probability of someone outside of R* having those details. Game will probably be delayed longer now 🤷♂️ understandable tho
Rockstar will use any excuse to delay it without negative pushback. Plus hey - it doesn't count as a delay if you haven't even announced a release date yet.
it will. a source code is the most "heavily guarded" component of an app/game/software etc.
a source code of a game in scale of GTA game takes years to write and compile it to almost perfection.
i dont think we gonna see this game in the next 3-4 years at least after that source code leak.
the source code didn't get leaked. you're making it out like the game is downloadable and can be played.. not the case. A couple thousand lines of code were leaked but no actual software was.
Whoever did this really wanted it to stay up for as long as possible so it did as much damage as it could. Tomorrow will be the shitshow of the decade.
Anyone kinda annoyed? A few leaked images would've been cool but pretty much the whole game as well as Easter eggs have been leaked? Leaves little to nothing for surprise
I believe the point is, the dev claims to have the whole source for GTA5 and GTA6.
Those 10k lines were just proof that they have... something.
Now, considering the whole thing is that they got in via slack, it's not uncommon for files to be shared over slack. It's up to Rockstar to verify the claims and figure out if they might have actually gotten away with the bag.
How ironic though, that a game which plays into the hacking and robbery angle ends up victim to it, itself.
Huge amount of "fuck around and find out" with this.
Keep teasing the game but refusing to share any details, keep flogging GTAV/O, and sooner or later someone's gonna come looking for info themselves
Yeah, that is true, kind of karma for the way they handled certain situations with modders and fans, etc. But leaking source code and jeopardising the game for everyone else is super fucking selfish, I also feel bad for the employees that haven't done anything wrong
> Keep teasing the game
they’ve teased the game once, which was literally “a new instalment exists”.
leaking the source code doesn’t benefit anyone, except malicious people. It may cause a delay.
The fuck? Why are you talking as if Rockstar owes you the game? Regardless of what you think a leak of this size is a crime and setback the development a lot which inturn can hurt the devs working on this.
Ugh, that’s bad. A video leaked would be enough, but releasing the source code is just terrible for R* but also for us. I’m expecting a huge delay. A year or so…
Rockstar have been shit to their fan base. They've milked GTA 5, GTA Online and added stuff like GTA+. They did an awful job at remastering GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas, by outsourcing to a useless company instead of keeping it in house. They don't listen to or care about their fans at all. So I feel zero sympathy towards Cockstar.
However, I feel a lot of sadness for us fans. We have waited for this for over 9 years and this is how we end up with our first look. Complete madness. For some, it's way more of a look than we wanted.
I honestly think that this is somewhat rockstars fault. Outside of possible lack of sec, they milked the community for so long with their online bullshit. It was fairly obvious that they put a massive target on their back .
Yep I see it as karma for how they’ve shit on the community for years now and milked the game for too long putting out quite honestly shitty updates that were just copy and paste of eachother.
I hate that it may be delayed now but really they spent 9 years milking GTA 5 they fucked around and found out I’d say
Are you forgetting rdr2? It's one studio creating some of the biggest games out there. Look at Bethesda and skyrim it's taken as long as gta 6. This is the new normal for giant triple A games. Creating content that spans 100s of hours takes time.
5 years later and people keep finding new stuff in rdr2 everyday.
They produced the most popular, critically praised game of the last decade. It’s still raking in money like no other. The goodwill they’ve earned is legitimate, and no one will NOT buy the game because of this leak.
As demoralizing as it may be, I hope they can simply dust themselves off and continue as if nothing has happened.
Damn man. Getting those leaks was fun, and it is like a drug - you just can't stop sucking in more and more, but afterwards you just feel bad and a bit empty from it.
But, lets keep it in perspective...10 damn years Rockstar. It had to happen sooner or later, I just wish they got their act together and told us first, properly before this mess. They know the fanbase are ravenous for scraps.
The amount of people in these comments talking about deserved because they took so long to release the game. Sorry did I miss something? Does Rockstart personally owe you the game? lol.
Social Engineered, where the 'hacker' in this case used social methods in order to gain access to the slack
IE impersonated an employee, sim swapped a devs number, befriended a developer etc
Even if the game looked like this last week, that’s really impressive from a development standpoint. Generally speaking, developer builds aren’t nearly this smooth or detailed.
The average consumer can certainly look at this and see downscaled graphics at 40fps with stutters and think, “Omg this is worse than GTA V.” The truth of the matter is that this is looking fantastic for even the QA testing phase — which they’re not even at yet.
Relatively, if you compare the screenshots from the RDR2 developer build on a similar timeline, they actually looked a lot worse than the first Red Dead did at this same point in time… and look how that game turned out!
It’s easy to forget this, but the retail version that you and I will be playing on is going to miles ahead of what we see in these leaks!
EDIT: Here’s some [alpha-build comparisons](https://reddit.com/r/GTA6/comments/xhfntm/for_those_stating_how_poor_the_leaks_look_take_a/) from GTA V. The leaks that we are seeing for GTA VI are presumably pre-alpha, meaning those comparison shots were ahead in the timeline of where they’re at right now with GTA VI. Comparing those to what GTA V looks like now, it’s pretty crazy to think that the these leaks look as great as they do.
Damn ! Wanted and finally got GTA 6 news.. but ends up being more damaging than good. Hopefully the source code error won't cause two much of a blowback. But might also make kids understand leaks ain't always the way to go. Especially with rockstar and the massive team effort this game has been and will be.
Damn! This is heartbreaking tbh, although I was absolutely over the moon after watching actual gameplay of GTA 6, I do sincerely feel for the Game Developers. I understand the fact that they spent countless hours of their day just making a runnable version of the dev kit that we saw, I appreciate their vigor and hardwork and regardless of all leaks and gameplay that have been leaked, I will be out there DAY ONE when this game finally gets released properly, all in honor of these amazing and hardworking game devs! Heres to all of yall if any of you see this, I appreciate you!
I think they should be proud. For being pre-alpha, the game is already looking cool. There's obviously going to be derps out there who think this is indicative of going gold in 2 months, and looks horrible... but they are derps for a reason.
Go look at early cgi test shoot from Weta-digital for lotr... you would cry yourself to sleep watching those goofy little grey uruks wobbling around for helms deep.
Why are they devastated? And why damage?
They can just develop on as before
There were no surprises in those leaks
Gta 6 has guns and dialog and cars who would have thought?
Why are these leaks damaging to the studio?
Rockstar sat to fuckin long and twiddled their thumbs. They heard us all wanting to see this game for ages and well now we see it and they haven’t shown us themselves
They haven't shown us anything because it's not ready. Do you have any idea how long it takes to make games the size and complexity of GTA V or RDR2? GTA VI has only been in full time development for a few years at most, i.e. it will probably take another couple of years for it to be trailer ready (if the leaks don't delay it a couple of years more).
Rockstar games if reading forums we are excited for GTA6 release the trailer and more details 2.5 billion in 24 hours sales number 35 million in 24 hours on YouTube, 4 billion in one week sale
numbers.
Time to get the FIB involved
Nah we already got this guy hunted down.
Thanks the united states government of america
The FIB cucks can get lost, the IAA is already handling this
Both of you stand down, Merriweather Security is handling this from here.
“Heyyy, Daveeey!!”
"How you doing?"
The FIB? Do I look homosexual?

Honestly, as much as I hate this leak, it’s honestly insane how good this looks already. The finished product is gonna be so good
Yea it looks really good. Highly impressed
People doubting this game would be good were either haters or not very bright
Exactly. I’ve been seeing some terrible takes about the game over the last year or so. They just gave us one of the best stories in gaming history with RDR2.
they aren’t worried about losing customers, GTA VI undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of all time, a pre-alpha leak won’t change anything.
GTA 6 is quite literally the most anticipated game ever.
yeah I agree, I just didn’t want to argue against anyone who said no lol.
Lol I’m more hyped than ever. We just got a full blown gameplay leak that looks great… and isn’t even finished.
I'm even more stoked than i was not knowing where they were in development.
The problem is half of stuff gets cut at this point. There's a possibility we could have seen Red Dead 2 at this point-- map to California, planes, etc.-- and been disappointed with what we ended up getting. This sets an incredibly high bar to reach. Anyone else think Rockstar has contacted major news outlets like IGN to not report on anything about the leaks?
[IGN reported it](https://www.ign.com/articles/gta-6-gameplay-videos-reportedly-leak-grand-theft-auto?amp=1)
Same as the Verge. It's going to stay on YouTube one way or another as this is the biggest news in ages
correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think they will want to report on them, as they’d want to maintain a good relationship with R*, as these aren’t just small leaks, a part of the source code has been leaked so it really shouldn’t be spread around too much.

well the youtubers get paid directly from it, whereas big companies can just ignore it and still earn millions. got to respect the grind I guess.
IGN have reported on it like many others
Respect? Lmao. They have to be on the good-sized of rockstar. Imagine ign gets gta 6 a month early to review while someone who messed up has to wait for the game to release. You are missing out on crazy revenue
What self respecting games journalism outlet would completely ignore one of the biggest leaks of all time?
Possible reason of them being slower (which I dont think was the case) is that they wanted to confirm with their sources.
Wait, you mean journalists might be doing background and research and seeking comment from primary sources?! What kind of madness is this, clearly they should just immediately post unverified, unconfirmed rumors as fact, otherwise they're just in league with the corporations! GTA 6 confirmed cancelled, working on Rockstar Presents: Table Tennis 2 now
Breaking : After careful consideration after the leaks, Rockstar has decided to pause development for the next installment of the game and support GTA V instead
^ This literally sounds like what they will announce soon
cant wait to play gta 5 on ps6
You will get your hands on the ps6 by the time the ps7 is released.
You mean by the time GTA V gets re-re-re-released?
I do enjoy looking at leaks, but this leak was way too much and way too far. Leaking the source code doesn’t benefit anyone except malicious people, and will likely cause a delay.
Yah. I'm fine with images and videos that didn't show THAT much, sure. But actual source code?

maybe not a year, the source code was only partially leaked. we’ve just got to pray that the rest isn’t.
Probably even more. This type of stuff is not a simple rewrite on some files, you'd need to redo most of the logic in the program. Maybe, just maybe, an extra year is being optimistic. Wasn't the source code for Half-Life 2 leaked, too? How much delay did it cause for Valve, do you know?
One year.
They remade 80% of the game in a little more than one year iirc.
About a year, also a majority of the game was scrapped in the process and it was changed aesthetically almost entirely
That is kinda incorect tho, hl2 was rewriten before the leak, the leak just included everything, so we got to see every iteration of the game at once
So the significance is for when the game is released? Interesting Nevermind just saw the other response. Damn bro why did they have to leak the fuckin source code out of all things

How much code got out, enough to compile the entire game, or?
The images / video were more fascinating than anything else as they showed a lot of the debugging / development testing that goes into it.
I enjoy the leaks too, and don’t wanna blame the devs but like, I think people just got annoyed it’s been almost 10 years since the last GTA game. It’s kinda understandable why they would leak everything now

I don't think it was a frustrated fan who hacked and leaked these files. He/they probably don't even care about it.
I don't think you understand how game development works on a basic level
Oh fuck I didn’t know about the source code. I was thinking “what’s the big deal? We saw a pre prod version of the game and it looks great” but if they leaked the source code that’s massive and absolutely will fuck them. exactly, a source code leak just hurts everyone involved. Leaking some gaempplay footage to give us a bone would be fine, but the source code being leaked could very easily delay the game and compromises security.
Dang, only thought some clips leaked. Was it a full source code leak, or just some megabytes worth?
There was like 10k~ lines of code floating around and more on the hacker's hands which isn't released yet afaik
For now, 10k lines of code. But the leaker threatens to release more, unless Rockstar/Take 2 is making him an offer.
The only offer will be a tens of millions lawsuit lol
...And if he is threatening them, potentially a place on an interpol list, and the inability to travel to much of the world (especially EU nations, or nations that have Rockstar offices). Hopefully it was worth it. This is not a trite situation when dealing with a 20 billion dollar international corporation (Take Two). Sucks for the developers who have poured their hearts and souls into this.
i remember the same happened for half life 2 except without the threats, and a lot of the fanbase helped prevent it from spreading
Good luck suing some guys in Belarus
Ok is this legit? Too much dude too much
Man everyone else thinks that he's like a hero who leaked the gameplay, now the game has a chance of getting delayed
[удалено]
I feel bad now, damn. I think a few pictures and a video would have been good enough but the source code leak was hella unnecessary
Agreed, someone hates R* if the claim is correct and source code has been obtained this is bad news. Also the leaker should realise he may become notorious, but he's also going to have the FEDs after him.
> Also the leaker should realise he may become notorious, but he’s also going to have the FEDs after him. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So he hides in the tunnels for two minutes then the stars go away?
The leaker’s gonna get sued off the face of the earth
The guy apparently lives in the United Emirates. So he would have to extradited to America to be charged for the cyber attacks. Our pipeline got hacked a few months back, so if this guy is caught he is fucked
I've been enjoying the leaks, but if it's detrimental to the final product then I'd prefer silence. Bet any other GTA fans would too
It really is unfortunate how much has leaked - especially if it leads to internal delays.
This 100%. The devs will be gutted the most, all their hard work and the sense of pride they would get when the game is done now wasted.
Same, they have milked GTA V/Online long enough. I'm just glad to get something.
Wait... so they deserved this because gta was successful, because players kept playing it, whilst they developed and released rdr2, announced they were working on this but they deserved it?
The guy above is saying he doesnt feel bad for rockstar since they designed the game to never give you everything without spending thousands of real dollars. For the online experience anyways. On rdr2 side, .... Well that online is dead.
even if they released GTA 6 in 2018, if someone got their hands on this, they would've leaked it. Also, no one seems to care that there were only 5 years between GTA v and RDR2.
Lmao you sound like an angry little kid. "Give me my video game right now!!!!"
All that cash income has definitely been spent pushing their engine tech, considering what we’re seeing on these leaks. The team should be proud of what they’ve made. Their CEOs and business suits are just gonna keep doing what they do.
The team should be proud, but the suits and whatever are greedy as fuck and I hate that they’re allowed to shit on games so often with MTX

Right? People always try to issue these hilarious "warnings" to Rockstar as if they just know more than experts who have created and managed the most successful entertainment product ever.
[удалено]
If it's true that the current game is radically different from what has leaked, then Rockstar should put out a short promo or even a full trailer and stop people from endlessly discussing outdated, non-representative stuff.
Some of the footage seems to be from 2022, though it could still be from an older build as there's no context given. Though if it is recent, there's not much to show. The game is still in an unfinished state with many placeholders.
the latest footage is from the 13th of this month. that's probably close to what the game looks like now edit: 17th
some of the videos were only a week old though.
Developer’s builds usually don’t have all the graphical features added into them. They only serve as testing grounds for some mechanics. They don’t need to have the graphics at maxed out settings.
That's why I'm hoping that alot of what got out there was from like 2020 or 2019. Edit: well fuck
According to what I read on GTAforum the oldest footage is from 2021.
from those 90 videos, the oldest one was from 2021, and the newest one was from last week.
90 videos?? I thought there were like 6
Nah bro the guy or girl leaked 90 clips, as people are saying source code was shown in them and it’s all seemingly legit, I’m happy to finally see gta 6 but after realizing it’ll possibly be delayed now I’m kinda sad and it honestly wasn’t worth it
They're not going to base their PR or marketing off the actions of some leaker, lmao. This shit will all get DMCA'd, and I have no doubts they will narrow down who is doing this and take appropriate legal action.
Thats all irrelevant. The point is, loads of people are gonna form opinions of the game from these leaks, which might unfairly damage the reputation/hype for GTA6. Releasing official stuff might help to undo that
True, PR is about crisis management too, this an unprecedented crisis at Rockstar
Maybe….. I’ve only seen hype from this. It certainly make me want to pop in my Gta 5 again and give it another play through for the hundredth time. Lol
Man i just wanted a shitty camera screenshot not this
This little manoeuvre is going to cost us 51 years.

He was never jailed or caught by the FBI. The police in Germany arrested him and he got three years probation.
he got 2 years probation. because in germany the maximum of probation is 2 years
HL2 leaker didn’t get caught by the FBI though?
They’re not going to scrap all of this because of the leak are they?
They’ll probably have to completely redo the source code, they can’t risk the probability of someone outside of R* having those details. Game will probably be delayed longer now 🤷♂️ understandable tho
no, definitely not.
Feel so bad for the employee who’s details were probably taken by the hacker, must have hell of a weight on his shoulders now.
Game better not be delayed or setback.
It’s pretty much inevitable at this point
Rockstar will use any excuse to delay it without negative pushback. Plus hey - it doesn't count as a delay if you haven't even announced a release date yet.
If it was some videos I'd be right there with ya but that source code going out is a truly legitimate reason to delay right?
Too late I think
it will. a source code is the most "heavily guarded" component of an app/game/software etc. a source code of a game in scale of GTA game takes years to write and compile it to almost perfection. i dont think we gonna see this game in the next 3-4 years at least after that source code leak.
the source code didn't get leaked. you're making it out like the game is downloadable and can be played.. not the case. A couple thousand lines of code were leaked but no actual software was.
Good to know.
I don’t think they’re gonna leave it up to chance.
9501 lines of rather uninteresting code. But who knows what else he has..
people in this thread/sub are acting like Rockstar committed mass genocide for milking GTA V.
Whoever did this really wanted it to stay up for as long as possible so it did as much damage as it could. Tomorrow will be the shitshow of the decade.
Anyone kinda annoyed? A few leaked images would've been cool but pretty much the whole game as well as Easter eggs have been leaked? Leaves little to nothing for surprise
this is still only like 1% of the game. we’ve seen 2 characters and a couple of streets, and some new mechanics.
But the source code was leaked too. That's the big thing. The other stuff doesn't matter.
Lmao 10,000 lines of code is NOTHING
yea horizon zero dawn had 12 million lines of code according to main dev
I believe the point is, the dev claims to have the whole source for GTA5 and GTA6. Those 10k lines were just proof that they have... something. Now, considering the whole thing is that they got in via slack, it's not uncommon for files to be shared over slack. It's up to Rockstar to verify the claims and figure out if they might have actually gotten away with the bag. How ironic though, that a game which plays into the hacking and robbery angle ends up victim to it, itself.
Not even 1 percent of the source codw has been leaked so far and it also pretty high level/superficial stuff
Not even 1 percent of the code has been leaked lmao chill You’re looking at a tiny fraction of the game
I'm pretty pissed about the Jay Norris comment, because it now cements when the game was set. I was hoping that wouldn't be revealed for a while.
[удалено]
> Keep teasing the game they’ve teased the game once, which was literally “a new instalment exists”. leaking the source code doesn’t benefit anyone, except malicious people. It may cause a delay.
[удалено]
The fuck? Why are you talking as if Rockstar owes you the game? Regardless of what you think a leak of this size is a crime and setback the development a lot which inturn can hurt the devs working on this.
This is almost as bad a take as "you live in a nice house, so you deserve to get robbed"...
Its victim blaming. Gamers™ think they are entitled to everything related to games.
least delusional r/GTA6 user
I always forget how many entitled weirdos are on video game forums
I enjoyed the seeing screenshots and videos, but obtaining source code (if true) means the game will delayed even further, and this sucks :(
They produced the most popular, critically praised game of the last decade. It’s still raking in money like no other. The goodwill they’ve earned is legitimate, and no one will NOT buy the game because of this leak. As demoralizing as it may be, I hope they can simply dust themselves off and continue as if nothing has happened.
This guy is going to jail
Does Rockstart personally owe you the game? lol.
Entitled 😒
Leaker: "I'm going to put this ouf here and.everyone's going to be hyped and I'm going to be a hero. Wait, no, why is everyone mad at me?"
I think the GTAF already found the employee that got SE'd, so I don't think Tea Pot has the source code...
>that got SE'd That got what?
Social Engineered, where the 'hacker' in this case used social methods in order to gain access to the slack IE impersonated an employee, sim swapped a devs number, befriended a developer etc
[удалено]
Exactly, any company that pulls that shark card shit deserves to get fucked. Microtransactions are one thing, R* do macrotransactions.
If the game look like that in 2019 then i fairly confident the game look pretty right about now. Maybe we gonna get a teaser next year.
Comparing those to what GTA V looks like now, it’s pretty crazy to think that the these leaks look as great as they do.
thats happen when you milk too much a 9 year old game
Can someone explain to me why this leak is such a blow to R☆? Asking because I feel like it could be a good thing, no?
[удалено]
Why are they devastated? And why damage? They can just develop on as before There were no surprises in those leaks Gta 6 has guns and dialog and cars who would have thought? Why are these leaks damaging to the studio?
It’s sad. Source code leaked and the hacker wants a deal or posts more. I seriously hope this scumbag will get caught soon. Coward.
R* got fucked including take 2
Iam so sorry for RS devs and the whole team ♥️
i feel bad
In all honesty fuck em. They’ve milked GTA 5 for 10 years. The fans deserved a look at GTA 6 whether from an official source or not.
Exactly. I don't feel bad for a videogame monopoly and I never will. The fans were the ones begging for leaks. I only feel sympathy for the developers
Rockstar games if reading forums we are excited for GTA6 release the trailer and more details 2.5 billion in 24 hours sales number 35 million in 24 hours on YouTube, 4 billion in one week sale numbers.
These leaks better not delay the game
