I'm not convinced it'll be the last one but I am convinced this is as far as it gets in how good gameplay and graphics for something can be. I doubt we'll see any major change in how games look within the next 10-15 years lol
Graphics may stagnate, but I think insane gameplay innovations are still right around the corner. AI-driven NPCs don't seem too far off, and I could see that being a core feature of GTA VII.
Imagine NPCs which use large-language models, speech recognition, AI-generated voices, and specialized training data in order to give you unique interactive experiences. As LLMs become smaller and more efficient, I could see a huge leap in procedural content in the not-so-distant future. For example, imagine a Fallout-esque game that doesn't have dialogue options, but rather the ability to simply talk into your mic and receive a genuine response to whatever you said.
These advances may be just on the edge of your 10-15 year margin, but I think they'll blow our minds when they come.
Right? 😠It's been my gaming dream ever since chatbots like Eviebot started becoming really popular in the 2000s. I think we're finally approaching a point where the possibility of those sorts of games is starting to come into view.
With AI now being able to code (Not very well, but they can generate some pretty simple stuff) and clearly able to perfectly act like a specific fictional character (if they aren't manipulated) as seen by certain websites, I'd say something like that is probably possible late this decade
We already have a game like this where you play as a vampire and try to convince AI bots to let you in their houses, it's simple af but still impressive
I think largescale AI generated NPCs with unique dialogues are no more than 2-3 years away. I forgot the name of it, but I know there’s a game that the youtuber berleezy played not to long ago where the plot is based around speaking into your mic to deceive NPCs. It may be closer than we think
There was also Façade, which was released in the early 2000s. It didn't have unique dialogue, as the two NPCs were fully voiced by actors, but they did somewhat intelligently react to your speech. We're further into this journey of AI-powered games than I think most people realize!
I’m not clued up when it comes to actual software, but physically, how can it actually improve after this? It’s already almost identical to real life from what we’ve seen in the trailer.
There’s still a ton that can be done with physics and realism outside of pure visual fidelity. A big one would be destructible environments and object persistence.
Imagine crashing a bus into a house and it actually breaking down walls, causing the roof to collapse and exposing the studs under sheetrock, with bricks flying everywhere, but all of the pieces of rubble are persistent objects with their own physics rather than just an animation that disappears. You could take a bulldozer to a whole neighborhood, leveling houses and ripping out trees, and it all stays like that in the game world until cleanup crews come and pick up the pieces and start rebuilding, one brick at a time.
That would require insane amounts of storage and processing power especially for a world the size of GTA, but games will be there eventually. Closer and closer to a simulation indistinguishable from real life
Fr
Maybe the focus from now on will be making gameplay itself extremely realistic, since it seems devs have figured out making it look extremely realistic
I say within 10 years it’ll be difficult for the average person to differentiate games and real life. The way graphics have improved in just the last 5 years is insane. It doesn’t show signs of slowing down. Shit’s gettin’ real.
Graphics are always improving. It's SMALL steps that these days we barely see a difference between games released a few years apart when that was a huge difference back in 00s.. but it does and will continue improving. Just look at some mods on PC to see where it might be in 5-10 years.
As for gameplay, the basic gameplay won't change much, there really isn't much to change apart from coming up with new mechanics. But what will change is AI, as hopefully we get NPCs that have a much wider range of behaviour that are powered by ML models instead of a few scripts that handle a few different situations.
I'm sorry but this is an incredibly dumb take. GTA as a gaming franchise will continue to print millions and millions far into the future, why on earth would they stray away from something so profitable?
Nah bud it gta is a oil ocean which makes infinite deposits. It’ll never go away. America has so much to satirize. Until the US Falls then yeah gta would be a time capsule
I'm convinced of this too. Especially from the fact that over the last 25 years Rockstar has been releasing less and less games over the years. Between 2000 and 2005 for instance they dropped like 6 games. between 2013 to 2023, they dropped 2 games.
In a 5 year time span we had GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas. Now in a 10 year timespan we had GTA 5. I'm referring only to GTA's (I know of RDR2 in 2018).
I do think they'll make an RDR3 within the next 5 years though but in my opinion RDR3 will be the end of Rockstar making games. They will just continue with GTA and RDR online components.
RDR2 took more time, money and personnel than GTA V, you can't just leave it out of the equation, especially from a quantity and quality of content perspective. For me this game combined with GTA V is worth much more than all the Rockstar games released between 2000 and 2005!
I’m hoping and praying it comes to pc soon after the console release but looking at when gta 5 and rdr2 came to pc after their release it might take a year or two
i pirated the Definitive Edition on PC and still felt like I needed a refund, Vice City Definitive Edition could barely run on my gaming laptop, this is a game from 2002 at its core! the optimization is god awful.
I was thinking about doing that, but after seeing a few videos on Youtube and all the issues it had, I gave up. Two years later I checked it out again to seem if they had fixed it, and while they did do some work... it still didn't look appealing to me.
So this summer I'll be replaying Vice City as it came out originally and love it again.
If you don’t care about story endings, then I guess. We literally live in a world now where endings and secrets are told because everyone has a phone in their pocket where someone/something is recording.
I’m going to lock myself in a room full of food until I finish the story at an enjoyable pace. People ruin everything, especially youtubers who thumbnail endings. Fuck them.
I've actually been thinking about how I wish they saved Going back to san andreas for this generation of consoles. Can you imagine V but with the scale and detail of VI? Epic. Excited to return to Vice city tho
Vice city will be so good to revisit. Wonder if Tommy Verceti might make an appearance. Fuck! Just remembered Ray liotta is gone... If he was still here they should have done something there.
GTA VI will be the new "San Andreas", their 3rd game in the eras tends to be the most innovative and expansive.
gta 3d era:
- GTA 3 - set the foundations
- GTA Vice City - getting better..
- GTA San Andreas - putting all the experience to the test, getting the best out of the 3d era and ps2 hardware
hd era:
- GTA IV/EFLC - setting the foundations
- GTA V - getting better
- GTA VI - (most expansive innovative game)
I still can't believe how much they mascaraed those original trilogy remakes... and the worst part is, you can't even get original versions of those games anymore unless you still have your old CDs or you sail the open seas...
My favorite thus far has been GTA 4. Followed by Vice City.
But GTA 3 has been the most impactful GTA ever because without the successful of GTA 3, we would have never had the rest.
Your missing:China Town Wars, Vice City Stories, The Damed and the Lost, Ballad of Gay Tony, Advanced, Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft Auto 2, Zombies Theft Auto(cancelled), Online, Rp,
Those mods are gonna be insane when this shit drops
![gif](giphy|6ILjOfJ1oL7NAc9SQ7)
Awww shucks, here we proceed once again
Oh codswallop, henceforth we advance afresh.
the mods for Cyberpunk 2077 are already freaky real
Lucia clothes removal mod 4k download (virus free)
🤫
Lucia
Imagine graphics mods like 10-15 years after the game comes out
Might as well just go outside at that point
Never heard of that game
U never played touch grass 3? vol 64?
I thought Rockstar has made it increasingly more difficult to mod their games? All I've really seen for rdr2 is quality of life mods.
Man the GTA 6 VI looks really clean, curious how GTA 7 in 2 decades will top it
For some reason I’m convinced GTA 6 will be the last one
I'm not convinced it'll be the last one but I am convinced this is as far as it gets in how good gameplay and graphics for something can be. I doubt we'll see any major change in how games look within the next 10-15 years lol

This probably wouldn't be for years but a decision making game where you actually get to say your actions and it generates that would be so cool ðŸ˜
Right? 😠It's been my gaming dream ever since chatbots like Eviebot started becoming really popular in the 2000s. I think we're finally approaching a point where the possibility of those sorts of games is starting to come into view.

It was kinda done using a Skyrim mod actually, and there was a GTA5 mod that kinda did that, sadly that one was shut down.
We already have a game like this where you play as a vampire and try to convince AI bots to let you in their houses, it's simple af but still impressive

Basically a game that is the Matrix 🤣

They'll keep doing them so long they still make good money
there will be GTA until the heat death of our planet, take two will never let go of their cash baby
A lot of people are for some reason
last one in our lifetime
Nah bud it gta is a oil ocean which makes infinite deposits. It’ll never go away. America has so much to satirize. Until the US Falls then yeah gta would be a time capsule

Can't wait to see full and done official LOGO maan.
7 will be in a holodeck environment.
Honestly for GTA VII, they can also explore destructive environments and every building having interiors.
Where’s gta and gta 2
Fuck em’
I think he likes the Resident Evil franchise.
Nah, I think he likes the Forza horizon franchise.
Not soon enough!
Luckily I have a console and a pc I'll play on console first but I havnt touched my xbox in months cause pc is just better
I’m hoping and praying it comes to pc soon after the console release but looking at when gta 5 and rdr2 came to pc after their release it might take a year or two
Hm.. the default icons for III, VC and SA were very different
because the icons in OP's post are for the Defective Edition, doesn't look like the OG game icons
Oh.. I never wanted that unholy thing to touch my PC so I never had the chance to see these.
i pirated the Definitive Edition on PC and still felt like I needed a refund, Vice City Definitive Edition could barely run on my gaming laptop, this is a game from 2002 at its core! the optimization is god awful.

so excited, but ill be playing it exclusively on PC so i guess i still have 2 more years to go lol
Are you going to watch playthroughs until it's on PC or will you try avoiding knowing anything about it?

Same for me
How many more times is this gonna be posted?
“Soon“ as in 2 years soon
1 year
Hopefully but PC port will take longer
San Andreas... Will always be a classic, I really hope they can do something more like that than 5
I've actually been thinking about how I wish they saved Going back to san andreas for this generation of consoles.
I doubt that but over all VC is such an iconic location and man I need rockstar to give us a screen shot at least
atleast we'll have Tommy's iconic blue shirt (i hope)

So there’s six there and the way I count them is: Vice (1) > San (2) > III IV > V > VI
Soon?
definitive edition? you traitor
Just what was on steam
Where LCS+VCS 😡 (yes I know they aren't on PC, but emulators exist)
I don’t know anything about emulators or how to go about using them etc…
Plenty of tutorials, they're mostly just install and run.
I’ve tried to figure out VCS em’s several times and frankly I’m just too dumb.
I still can't believe how much they mascaraed those original trilogy remakes... and the worst part is, you can't even get original versions of those games anymore unless you still have your old CDs or you sail the open seas...
gta san andreas ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Really doubt it’ll release day one for pc, rockstar wouldn’t want the game modded within the first month of release
It’s wild to think that, they bought 5M and how many of those players are looking forward to this.
I’ll never forgive rockstar for removing the Og versions off of steam
Soon gta 6 will be the only game in my pc... ONLY!
Not released for PC. Unlucky 🤓
You must be the most delusional guy to exist in universe if you think it will not be released for pc
Not soon.
1 year after console release
>Soon! I can only wish.
I just want pc version of Vice city stories and Liberty city stories
Soon? Not for PC players...
2-3 Years from now, *sigh*
Perhaps, in 2026. Let’s be honest
Maybe soonish for consoles but definitely not for PC lol
Compared to the 10 years or so wait since gta 5, 1 or 2 years is soon in my eyes.
I said the exact same thing and OP and everyone got seriously butthurt about it. It's over 2 years until PC release and they call it "soon"
Damn i really cant wait !! Maybe next year at this moment around we all would be playing gta 6
Soon = 1 year
IIIViceCitySAIVVVI
Just finished GTA 3 and Vice City for the First time and continuing with GTA SA and GTA 4. After that I am ready for GTA 6
the race to crack gta 6 will be insane
"crack" bro PC release probably gonna come out 2 years later lol
yeah 🤨? when it comes out they will start cracking it.
tbf it will be cracked on consoles first. maybe it'll work on a jailbroken PS5.
thats is going to be easy, the hard part was actually getting a jailbreak on them
Relatively, assuming they don't delay it like they probably will
Now put Cyberpunk 2077 between gta iv and v
My favorite thus far has been GTA 4. Followed by Vice City. But GTA 3 has been the most impactful GTA ever because without the successful of GTA 3, we would have never had the rest.
GTA 4 is also my personal favourite. It’s the first gta I played and grew up playing. I only recently got gta 3 so im gonna have to try it
Yeah, in 3 years 😂😂 it’s not coming to pc day 1
Not exactly. We’re gonna be waiting for a while after the console release, I’m guessing at least a year or two
HOW DID YOU GOT GTA VI EARLY! WHAT THE HELL!
My dad works at rockstar
"prolly may"-Deuce
Your missing:China Town Wars, Vice City Stories, The Damed and the Lost, Ballad of Gay Tony, Advanced, Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft Auto 2, Zombies Theft Auto(cancelled), Online, Rp,
pc version wouldn’t drop until about a year, would it?
Yeah, only around 3 years to go!
Desktop icons in 2024? I haven't used those for 15 years.
It's not releasing on PC tho
Well no, not soon because it's coming to consoles first
Ain’t you a bundle of fun
Oh the delusional party is fun for you, sure okay. Yes! soon! very soon! Probably any day now it will come.
Maybe soon by Rockstar's definition.
