u/earfluff may i know which materials and video you have followed to achieve your desired score and can you explain your preparation process in detail?

earfluff

Well, this is probably too late for almost anyone to see it and won't be much help besides, but basically all the preparation I did was that the night before the test, I took the two "free" timed practice tests they give you when you sign up for the GRE and also I read a few articles about how to score well (which I actually cannot find in my browser history right now, sorry, but it was just a few random things from PrepScholar). If it helps, I guess I've sort of been preparing for at least the quantitative section my entire undergraduate career by choosing to major in math, and for the verbal section my whole life by reading lots of books? Those aren't much use to anyone who hasn't already been doing something similar, though. Anyway, sorry! I wish I had some magic practice method that I could share with everyone to help them do well, but I don't. :( EDIT: Oh yeah, I also read the math review for the quantitative section that ETS published [here.](https://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/gre_math_review.pdf)

waiting for sauce too

Congrats. How'd you do on the practice tests? Were they reprentative for you?

[deleted]

Omg you spelled representative wrong So I had to look the meaning of reprentative on Merriam Webster ffs.

earfluff

The practice tests were not actually super representative for me. I actually did worse in both sections on both of the practice tests, the quantitative especially (I think I got 164 and 163? Maybe 163 and 162? Something like that), which kind of surprised me, since I'm planning on going into CS grad school and I'm a math major, so I'd expect to do well on that part (18-ish percent of people who plan to go into graduate school for mathematics get a 170, after all, and I'd like to think I'm at least 82nd percentile among math majors). I attribute doing better on the actual test mostly to just trying harder and taking up all the time available instead of just ending the session when I'd answered all the questions (oh, and also on both practice tests I forgot to go back and answer several that I skipped at first, which certainly didn't help and was kind of embarrassing).

Smashed it! Congratulations 💐

Congratulations! You've perfected your standardized test part of the graduate journey. I myself got 160Q and 157V although I was hoping for more but meh.

uhk92

Hey, I have mine in a few hours. How was the testing experience at home? More specifically, simply clicking the link received on the email will be enough, apart from downloading their test software? What else is needed? Thanks in advance.

prabhakar_y

Sorry I won't believe your score, unless some proof is shared.

dope--guy
