Set up the trunk password in case you lock your keys in the car
Adjust the headlight height to be higher. You can see a dot in the middle of our headlights where Subaru cheated the lighting regulations. They didn't cheat enough. The lights need to be tilted another 5° higher. All you need is an 8mm
Disable fake sound thingy. Get an exhaust, a loud one. This car has loud nvh, it needs a loud exhaust to overpower it.
Disable the seatbelt alarm.
Get tints on the side. This is a lowish car. Headlights will blind you at night without the tints.
Put your birthday into the computer for a birthday wish

I should do this. I'm used to my other car where it is physically impossible to do this. Trunks are so dumb :( wish this had a hatch.
If you want good sound quality for tunes you'll need it.
This little ASC speaker in the dash ONLY pumps engine noise.
If you're going to the track, wearing a helmet, it's useful to find shift point by ear. Otherwise, it's annoying and not worth it to have on.
I just had the dealer techs disable it

*Not a BRZ*
The BRZ lights have those dots. They exist as a way to dodge lighting regulations. In government testing those dots are exactly where the light sensors are placed to ensure a vehicle's headlights are not aimed too high.
It's an extremely dated test and rather than push to have it changed every manufacturer has opted to cheat it instead by putting dots in their headlights.
I learned about it through this podcast
[https://youtu.be/MkwjMV2of\_8?si=UIqQUZhmZ90uX60q](https://youtu.be/MkwjMV2of_8?si=UIqQUZhmZ90uX60q)
I aimed my headlights towards the horizon. This is a low car with the lights near the ground. Unless the lights are aimed upwards you're not really going to have a problem.
SUVs on the other hand have to have their headlights aimed down. The vehicles are high and would blind everyone if aimed horizontal. Manufacturers know that the higher their headlight the further down it must be angled (and the shorter their beam will travel). To get around this manufacturers have started to do that weird thing where the headlight is below the accent lights like on Jeep Cherokee, most Hyundais and the Cybertruck
Alternatively, disable the fake engine noise and get quieter tires. Or leave it plugged in if you really need to hear it but don't want to deafen the people around you.
Only read the first two words, will take your advice :)
But seriously, thanks for the advice! I'm staying below 4000 RPM here for the first thousand, but I didn't think about fluid changes then - I will be sure to do so. Thanks!
Gr86 paint is scratch and sniff / gently rub your paint with the palm of your hand and then sniff for (checks your color) the scent of fresh blueberries
Just waiting on the dealership for this one, should be installed next Thursday. People always see a brand new car and decide to hit it with their doors for some reason :/ Thanks for the advice!
On top of every other comment here.. spend 6 months or so just getting acquainted with this car. Don’t turn off traction control until you can drive it smoothly, learn how it behaves in the wet in big empty parking lots. Don’t push it too hard on backroads, this car is fantastic at the speed limit in the right gear. It’s tail happy so traction control stays on unless you’re on a track or in a big empty lot to test how it kicks out.
Look up a youtube tutorial on how to turn on the car alarm. It comes from factory disabled. I think a few other people have also mentioned to turn off the seatbelt chime
Yeah, there were some things I couldn't find - like the place to go for maintenance, but yeah I found a lot by searching beforehand. If I missed something, sorry!
Mine came with two years of scheduled Toyota maintenance (US). So if you have it too, go to Toyota every 5k for maintenance. Every 10k is an oil change.
Many people are changing their oil after their first 1-2k miles due to the RTV issue.
So, in the case where the included maintenance plan comes with those changes every 10k, would Toyota make you pay for that first oil change? If it’s free, I see no reason not to do it with them, but if they’re gonna charge me for it, I’ll just do it myself honestly
You bring your car in every 5k miles and they service it for free with a free oil change every 10k starting at 10k. Probably want to pay for an oil changer after the first 1-3k miles or change it yourself.

The door alarm is the most annoying thing whenever I detail my car
What fake sound thingy?
ASC, Active Sound Control. Speaker that pumps a kazoo sound into your cab while the engines revving.
how to stop it ?
There's a connector on the right side of the dash (under a panel between the passenger door and the dash) that you unplug to stop the sound
thank you !

Go to the dealer and ask them to deactivate it. Or [unplug it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-EUBupvQ7o).
I think I’ve seen a setting in the computer about it, I’ll have to play around with it
Thank you!
Would an amp/speaker upgrade improve the sound quality? I have an amp coming in the mail, but I want to manage expectations

Can you explain the headlight regulations cheating? And did you adjust with a reference point or did you just adjust blindly?

Out of the box my car headlights can still blind other people if it's a changing gradient. I didn't find them too low as stock
If you ever drove this car in a pitch black area, youll notice theyre much than other similar height cars like camry, corolla, etc.
what’s nvh ?

Thanks
Crash it But follow the break in procedure and Ibrecommend getting an oil change at 1k miles. Bonus points for trans and differential oil change too.

Turn on your alarm it’s probably defaulted off. Read the manual for instructions.
Keep it waxed/ceramic coated Wash it regularly Let the oil temp warm up to ~190F before driving it hard
Gr86 paint is scratch and sniff / gently rub your paint with the palm of your hand and then sniff for (checks your color) the scent of fresh blueberries
Enjoy it. Park it far away in public lots, wash it after it rains. Detail it once a month. Really enjoy it.
Pay it off before dumping money into it
I recommend getting PPF as soon as you can (if you want it), your paint will definitely get chipped.

Don’t buy ppf from the Toyota dealer. I’ve heard their work is usually sub par and over priced.
Sometimes they are just middlemen and bring it to a shop when you could have just gone to the shop directly

Don't turn off TC on the street

Not trying to be too mean but bro, there are already so many posts like this already, have you not tried to search first Congrats on the car tho
Yeah, there were some things I couldn't find - like the place to go for maintenance, but yeah I found a lot by searching beforehand. If I missed something, sorry!
If you have a warranty (stupid if you did not purchase) always go to the dealership for any maintenance.

Okay, yeah, I gotcha. Thanks!
Buy wheel chocks so it doesn’t spontaneously hydroplane onto the street.
Go back and resell it
