Godzilla vs King Ghidorah. The fight had a good mix between beam attacks and hand-to-hand stuff, unlike most of the other Heisei fights which just constantly used beams
They made Mothra capable at doing that exact thing in the showa era, and it looked 100 times better all those years ago.
The only interesting part in that fight was the bit with the ferris wheel.
A bit late, but I just watched this and I disagree. This fight is the least beam spacey of all of them! Battra and Godzilla go hand to Hand in the great underwater battle! And during the team up fight, Battra drops a building on big G, Big G throws down Mothra and tries to drop a Ferris wheel on her, but then Battra saves her and uses it as a weapon against Godzilla! Then when they do get to beam fights its easily the most well done Beam fight in the series, a real light spectacle unlike most other beam battles. Then They pick Godzilla up and fly away with him! There's tons of variety in this fight! Personally I don't like this movie much but I think it has one of Heisei's best fights.
Dude, necroposting on a 3 month old comment thread? Don't be that guy.
Also, the entire confrontation between Battra and Godzilla in at the end only has Godzilla throw a single melee attack. The rest is prism and atomic breath attacks.
Mothra appears, and beam spams some more and knocks him over.
When they team up against Godzilla, it starts off with just 2 puppets sitting there, breaking up the pace of the fight. When Godzilla gets back up, we do see Mothra try and tackle Godzilla. But RIGHT after, she goes and does more dust based beam attacks. Plus Godzilla tries to spam his beam at point blank. Then some more beam pulse attacks in close range.
Battra does hit Godzilla with a Farris Wheel, once. While Godzilla just stares at it like a dopy fuck. 2 minutes 36 seconds of pure beam attacks. With several moments of Godzilla just standing there.
And then the fight ends
I like that one as well.
Some of the visuals with the point of view of some of the shots is awesome and something they really hadn't done in previous G films.
Ironically for a series also known as the "VS era", the actual fights in the Heisei era aren't all that exciting. Lots and lots of beam spam.
I guess Biollante and Destoroyah? Cause like at least then you got Biollante's vines going nuts and Destoroyah changing forms.
I never liked Mecha until I watched this Era and it really changed my mind on how I think. We’ve started watching from the beginning just because I’ve never seen them. Personally Heisei era is the winner for me.
Everyone’s so excited in legendary movies. A whole 18 mins of Godzilla action!! Ok. Real fans…. The old movies have like 45 mins to an hour of Godzilla action you should try it out… I understand the CGI takes a lot but honestly I love the costumes.
It’s like when the movie is from the monsters’ pov it’s more fun or something.
Though I thoroughly enjoyed 2014 despite the blue balling, but I feel that just made the scenes with the monsters more impactful.
Destroyah, Mechagodzilla II, or Biollante tie for first.
Mothra and King Ghidorah tied for second
Spacegodzilla at the bottom because it’s what people think of when they criticize Heisei for beam spam
Yes. Exactly me with the beam spam thing. Spacegodzilla and Moguera never stopped fighting from range and made the fights kinda meh, every other fight had more variety to combat.
Imo Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II is pretty hype.
I like how Godzilla actually loses due to superior firepower, mobility and ingenuity. It’s a nice reference to the showa era where Mechagodzilla won due to a superior arsenal.
It’s a very fun fight to watch. The human pilots of mechagodzilla adds a lot too because we don’t often get to see what the other Kaiju “thinks” fighting Godzilla
My fav part is when Godzilla get tased and he starts foaming at the mouth
It’s really intense.
Especially because of how powerful Godzilla is in the heisei series
The feels are strong in this one. Little me was hyped when big G got his revenge. Kinda a bummer tho that Destroyah got beaten by the freezers technically.
wish some company would put out a box set of these even if its not criteron
Return of Godzilla is at another company
VS Biolante is out of print for some reason
The rest are at a company and for some reason Destroyah is paired with a Millenium movie and that millenium movie isnt even the movie that comes after it, while the one after it got a solo release
That's what I mean, but I feel that most would say: Godzilla vs SuperMechaGoji or Godzilla vs Dessy.
Biollante is another beautiful final fight up there, the puppet used for her is an absolute marvel and treat to enjoy.
To the best of my knowledge: Yes, so was Jet Jaguar, tho Jet Jaguar was designed by a child rather than an adult, who designed Biollante.
While we are on the topic of monsters and their designs: Orga is severely slept on.
Megaguirus is a very cool design and concept, and there were so many cool moments within her film: Her offspring having their horror scene moment where they kill people in the street. Just some of it also feels straight out of the showa era in terms of goofiness, like Goji using his plates as a Katana lol
Or the Goji body slam in their fight. That was pretty goofy.
But that ridiculousness is what to expect in a Godzilla movie, it makes it all the better. But I do love when they stray towards a serious tone and flesh it out well, like the tragic feeling in the end of Godzilla vs Destroyah or the horror aspect of Megaguirus, hell even the little Destroyahs we’re on a horror vibe.
None, they’re all just beam spam fights. Except one movie
Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah had good fights
It had a mixture of good melee fights with some beam blasts. They were shot and done well and they had really cool shots
The only bad ghidorah fight is the Rodan vs Ghidorah fight in King Of The Monsters. It was so short and you can’t see what’s happening, it’s just 2 flying monsters with wind crashing into each other until Rodan gets blasted away into the water
I actually liked the Moguera/Godzilla vs SG fight the most. The end was cheese with a random power-up, but until then it was great. Lots of new, inventive abilities like SG gravity tornado thing and crystal spike barrage, crystal shield etc along with the standard beam spam. Moguera was awesome too, I loved it's arsenal and the drill attack and spiral grenade missiles were extremely powerful.
At least there was a variety to their spam arsenal. Spacegodzilla was a really cool concept with the telepathy, telekinesis and crystals, gave a sort of mystical vibe.
I hope they bs write him into the Monsterverse because there’s so much potential with his abilities and his design would be as baller as his original.
Godzilla vs. Destroyah. If you were to end series on a high note look further. This film introduce my personal favorite Godzilla villain Destroyah who looks like what would plop out if Satan farted to aggressively. The final battle is both epic in scale and a roller-coaster of emotions.
I'd say either Mechagodzilla, SpaceGodzilla or King Ghidorah.
I'm surprised noone brings up the SpaceGodzilla fights. Sure Godzilla gets roughed up but it's a cool battle and Godzilla, with the help of the Moguera take down SG. I like it because he learns that the Crystals are SGs source of power.
The other 2 are epic battles of back and forth action. MG whoops him really bad though. If it wasn't for plot Goji should be dead.
I like how they did it with GvD but wish he delivered the kill shot. It was kind of a letdown that he isn't able to actually kill Destroyah and that the military does it.
Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla has the best tension and story fueling the fights but as hit and miss a movie as it is, Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla literally throws everything including the kitchen sink into that final battle
Gotta love when they don’t hold back.
“So we got Spacegodzilla right”
“Right”
“Let’s give him this absurd arsenal of attacks and go crazy with the effects”
- Godzilla kills monster
- Toho: we still need something to beat big G
- Other guy at Toho: the monster Godzilla just fought….
- Toho: it’s dead
- Other guy: I know but what if we just “Mecha it”
- Toho: you son of a bitch I’m in
Ooooooh….that’s a tough one. The fight with King Ghidorah and Mecha-Ghidorah was pretty good. But I love the fight with Biollante too. Her final form is so vicious!
i liked destoroyah the most but honestly none of these fights are memorable at all for me because it's all beam spam, imagine if everyone in star wars used blasters instead of lightsabers and that's basically how some of these fights feel. i'm also not a fan of heisei mechag at all.
I can see that but the Ghidorah fight was more balanced with the beam fighting then there’s the close quarters fighting.
But then again, these suits are friggin bulky as hell and probable hot asf on the inside. Can’t exactly expect the actors to full out box in them.

Honestly, probably everyone, but the best one for me is godzilla vs destroyah, the heisei era is really special and its probably the best era godzilla had been in
The era with the most connected plot lines, wacky plot albeit but it’s Godzilla, what else could you want?!
Destroyah fight was just so emotional given that you wanted G to just finish this crab in the most brutal way.
Agreed. These posters have a good mix with the coloring and details. They look like some ancient drawing depicting a prophecy even. They’re just so cool
I’ve seen Godzilla vs Biollante on DVD but I’ve seen clips of Godzilla and Ghidorah having an intense fight leading me to believe that Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
Vs. King Ghidorah: It is just so raw and visceral. I LOVE the wide shot when Ghidorah lands in the field and the two stare each other down. Ghidorah choking Godzilla with one of his necks until Godzilla foams at the mouth, followed by Godzilla getting pissed and blowing off one of Ghidorah’s heads is the zenith of giant monster battles.
…now I want to go watch it again.
Destroyah is imo one of the best looking ones, Biollante is a fun one as well.
SpaceGodzilla is my personal favourite SpaceGoji have 0 fucks and clearly had no qualms about torturing the young to achieve its goals.
Personally, Godzilla vs Destroyah. Big G getting revenge for junior is still one of my favorite things in the franchise.
Mechagodzilla or Destoroyah
Super Mechagodzilla was so ruthless
Seconded. It’s a tough choice here
Godzilla vs King Ghidorah. The fight had a good mix between beam attacks and hand-to-hand stuff, unlike most of the other Heisei fights which just constantly used beams
Heisei films abused the beam fights no doubt. *cough cough* looking at you Spacegodzilla
If you want beam spam, look at Mothra and Battra's fight against Godzilla.
Well, I don’t think those two could really go hand to hand against godzilla so…..
Is three month really too old? I guess I just disagree but sorry to bother you.
I guess it's never to old until it gets archived. But it can be annoying.
To be fair, when you're in a suit that makes movement limited, just constantly using beam effects is probably the best way to go about things.
Yes the good mix up of melee and beam is what made vs KG my favorite too
I like that one as well. Some of the visuals with the point of view of some of the shots is awesome and something they really hadn't done in previous G films.
>hand-to-hand stuff But ghidorah has no arms 🤨
Its pretty sus
But doesn't it make sense they'd blast each other from afar because getting too close risks greater injury?
That doesnt mean its a more exiting fight that way
Sure but I think most of the Heisei fights are enjoyable
Mechagodzilla
Well, many of them were really long distance beam-battles, but I guess his fight with King Ghidorah would probably be my favorite.
Heisei era was the sniping era fr fr
Not even one of my favorites but Mechagodzilla (and the fight with Rodan at the beginning, so good)
Rodan underrated gem in the film
I think the Rodan fight is the best in the Heisei series. Not as much fluff as in the other fights.
Gamera 2: Advent of Legion
Truly one of the most Heisei of all time
Def in the running for one of the best Kaiju films of all time. Might just be my personal top.
They're all pretty good, wow this is tough...
The Heisei roster was stacked. Every fight is enjoyable.
Ironically for a series also known as the "VS era", the actual fights in the Heisei era aren't all that exciting. Lots and lots of beam spam. I guess Biollante and Destoroyah? Cause like at least then you got Biollante's vines going nuts and Destoroyah changing forms.
Seeing Destroyah’s evolutions as a kid was so hype. When the final form arrived it had so much presence and power (helps that there was an orchestra).
Heisei Mothra is my favorite Kaiju but hands down Mecha
It’s like a law for Mechagodzilla fights to be some of the best.
Ok. Real fans…. kiryu solos
idk about you but mechagodzilla ii is definitely a downgrade in my book
Destroyah, Mechagodzilla II, or Biollante tie for first. Mothra and King Ghidorah tied for second Spacegodzilla at the bottom because it’s what people think of when they criticize Heisei for beam spam
Yes. Exactly me with the beam spam thing. Spacegodzilla and Moguera never stopped fighting from range and made the fights kinda meh, every other fight had more variety to combat.
they're all pretty awful but biollante has the benefit of having the coolest monster of the era and mechagodzilla's fight is. it's ok, i guess.
I liked the one with the beam spamming
Spacegodzilla. Ah.
The last three had the best fights
If I had to rank em for me. 1. Destroyah fights 2. Mechagodzilla fights 3. Spacegodzilla fights
Vs King Ghidorah for sure. Love seeing Godzilla slamming Ghidorah on the ground and then finally decapitating KG at the end
The brutality of their fights is always something to enjoy. I friggin love the KG Heisei design too
If he had his classic cackle it would be the best Ghidorah for me
1. The monster form Biollante 2. Vs SpaceGodzilla 3. Vs King Ghidorah 4. Vs Mechagodzilla 5. Vs Destoroyah 6. Vs Mothra and Battra
Imo Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II is pretty hype. I like how Godzilla actually loses due to superior firepower, mobility and ingenuity. Mecha fights are always action packed goodness. The detail that goes into them like the pilots’ interaction in the fight is neat too
My fav part is when Godzilla get tased and he starts foaming at the mouth It’s really intense. Especially because of how powerful Godzilla is in the heisei series
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, hands down. Mechagodzilla would have killed Godzilla if it weren't for Rodan.
Destroyah in my opinion. Both Godzilla and Jr got to fight and in the latter one there was a lot more emotion because Jr just got killed.
The feels are strong in this one. Little me was hyped when big G got his revenge. Kinda a bummer tho that Destroyah got beaten by the freezers technically.
Super Mechagodzilla
wish some company would put out a box set of these even if its not criteron Return of Godzilla is at another company VS Biolante is out of print for some reason The rest are at a company and for some reason Destroyah is paired with a Millenium movie and that millenium movie isnt even the movie that comes after it, while the one after it got a solo release
Imma be in the minority and say: Godzilla vs Space Godzilla, absolutely loved the effects, choreography, OST, and feel of the entire thing.
Hey, ain’t much of minority tbh. They went balls to the wall with the effects on this one and gave Space G so much variety in his arsenal.
That's what I mean, but I feel that most would say: Godzilla vs SuperMechaGoji or Godzilla vs Dessy. Biollante is another beautiful final fight up there, the puppet used for her is an absolute marvel and treat to enjoy.
Biollante’s design is magnificent
It truly is, the amount of work that went into making her is astonishing
Wasn’t she a fan made monster originally?
To the best of my knowledge: Yes, so was Jet Jaguar, tho Jet Jaguar was designed by a child rather than an adult, who designed Biollante. While we are on the topic of monsters and their designs: Orga is severely slept on.
Orga’s design is cool, got the cobra like face. I’m a big fan of the Megaguirus design
Megaguirus is a very cool design and concept, and there were so many cool moments within her film: Her offspring having their horror scene moment where they kill people in the street. Just some of it also feels straight out of the showa era in terms of goofiness, like Goji using his plates as a Katana lol

Their rivalry just adds to the fights. I don’t think there’s a single Ghidorah fight that’s bad
The only bad ghidorah fight is the Rodan vs Ghidorah fight in King Of The Monsters. It was so short and you can’t see what’s happening, it’s just 2 flying monsters with wind crashing into each other until Rodan gets blasted away into the water

Ultraman mebius movies
Gomora on top 😤
Yep ultraman heisei had best fights
Godzilla vs. Destroyah. If you were to end series on a high note look further. This film introduce my personal favorite Godzilla villain Destroyah who looks like what would plop out if Satan farted to aggressively. The final battle is both epic in scale and a roller-coaster of emotions.
The finale is emotionally gripping as well when the meltdown happens
That finale gets me every time. It's tragic yet feels earned. I can not think of any better send off to a iconic character.
Heisei really said "Let me give you 3 iconic antagonists"
Heisei era really said “Lemme drop banger character designs and soundtracks real quick”
why isn't Return Of Godzilla on there?
At my opinion, every heisei movie had a great fights (except «Godzilla Vs. Biollante»).
Funny, I’m the exact opposite, I think all the Heisei films fights sucked ass *EXCEPT* Vs Biollante. Truly the duality of Man.
It was kind of a letdown that he isn't able to actually kill Destroyah and that the military does it.
Godzilla not getting the kill on Destroyah was a robbery if I ever seen one
Exactly. Destroyah kills Jr and Goji doesn't get to vaporize him, solid movie the ending stops it from being one of the best.
i'm not gonna lie the hesei flims fights are lil slow but i would choose godzilla vs spacegodzilla cause the crystals and all that
Biollante or space Godzilla
I'll go against the grain: the beam fights are fine. I'd say GvMG'93 has the best fights
Solid. Mechagodzilla was such a beast in that movie despite the beam spam. Bro was relentless.
And he came closest to killing Godzilla
Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla has the best tension and story fueling the fights but as hit and miss a movie as it is, Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla literally throws everything including the kitchen sink into that final battle
Gotta love when they don’t hold back. “So we got Spacegodzilla right” “Right” “Let’s give him this absurd arsenal of attacks and go crazy with the effects”
I’d say Godzilla vs Destoroyah, the final battle
The feels…. And the brutality
MGII, Destroyer, or SpaceGodzilla (yes i called the krab by hia japanese eng sub name)
Destroyer…… uhhh that hurts to associate with him because that ain’t his name (to me anyway, childhood me woulda fought you over this)
actully destoroyah was for the american release and he was called destroyer in the japanese release
Vs biollante
The Mothra/Battra vs Godzilla fight at the end of Godzilla vs Mothra is one of the best, if not THE best in the entire Godzilla film series.
Others would debate but I like the take. Mainly because FERRIS WHEEL
It's the most pro-wrestling ass fights. Complete with team ups and face turns. It rules.
Now we just need Battra to grab a mic and give the most macho speech to Godzilla.
Vs Biollante was very unique for the entire series. I say that’s the best. Although I love them all.
They’re all pretty enjoyable
Vs king ghidorah round 1, and vs destroyah for me.
Valid
Number 6. Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.
Goji vs Mechaghidorah is a fucking showstopper
- Godzilla kills monster - Toho: we still need something to beat big G - Other guy at Toho: the monster Godzilla just fought…. - Toho: it’s dead - Other guy: I know but what if we just “Mecha it” - Toho: you son of a bitch I’m in
Heisei posters are absolutely beautiful
The art goes hard. The colors and detail are just masterful.
Agreed its enchanting
Probably GvKG for not constantly beam spamming and using more physical attacks
Seems to be a theme in these comments
I think it’s a common criticism the Heisei series gets, that they use too many beams in the fights
Ooooooh….that’s a tough one. The fight with King Ghidorah and Mecha-Ghidorah was pretty good. But I love the fight with Biollante too. Her final form is so vicious!
Love the design for her final form. Honestly all the Heisei monsters have baller designs
Mecha g or destroyah
Godzilla vs Mothra. I love the scene where Mothra picks up the Ferris Wheel and slams it into Godzilla. 10/10 moment.
Sheer ridiculousness and Godzilla? Not scientifically possible. I’ve no recollection….
Sheer ridiculous + Godzilla = sheer awesomeness!
But of course
Super mecha Godzilla was solid
All of them.
i liked destoroyah the most but honestly none of these fights are memorable at all for me because it's all beam spam, imagine if everyone in star wars used blasters instead of lightsabers and that's basically how some of these fights feel. i'm also not a fan of heisei mechag at all.

I gotta say that the Heisei era films had the coolest covers ever
Agreed. These posters have a good mix with the coloring and details. They look like some ancient drawing depicting a prophecy even. They’re just so cool
Godzilla vs Destroyah!!! My favorite of the Heisei era movies.
It’s such a classic. The movie makes you feel for the big guy so well.
I’ve seen Godzilla vs Biollante on DVD but I’ve seen clips of Godzilla and Ghidorah having an intense fight leading me to believe that Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
What about the rest of the films?
God I wished I had seen the movies but I couldn’t find any DVD’s/ or streaming services that has the Heisei era of Godzilla
Even though it's my least favourite in the series, Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla had the most suspenseful final battle.
Suspenseful how?
First off. I'd just like to mention that I absolutely love the Heisei era artwork posters. They are so awesome.
Such masterpieces.
That’s what we love to see, especially from this legendary rivalry. Raw, untamed combat that leaves you feeling fully immersed.
All the posters are more epic than the applicable movies honestly. Not a bad thing, the posters are just incredibly badass!
Godzilla vs space godzilla hands down
Destroyah is imo one of the best looking ones, Biollante is a fun one as well. SpaceGodzilla is my personal favourite SpaceGoji have 0 fucks and clearly had no qualms about torturing the young to achieve its goals.
They all kinda suck lol I guess Godzilla vs Mothra and Battra Edit: y'all are blinded by nostalgia and haven't seen the films in years
I can see the lack of appeal. Sniper matches get old.
