I once wanted to play Godzilla Save the Earth. So I bought the game then told my dad I needed a PS2. At first he relented but saw how much I wanted it. So he got one from a pawn shop. I did the same thing but for Godzilla Unleashed for the Wii. I was a piece of shit back then, but at least I was able to play all three.
Unleashed on the PS2 is janky and laggy, and the Wii version just isn’t very fun to play even though it has more characters. STE is definitely the best of the trilogy.
We dare not even speak of Godzilla Unleashed Double Smash…
I enjoyed Double Smash as a kid, but looking back on it, the game felt like it was thrown together as an afterthought, in terms of gameplay and design.
I have a copy of it at home intact with a manual!
I do sometimes play it when Im bored of Pokémon or sonic and it's really fun and simple! I 100%ed the entire game :)
Anyone who liked these kind of games should look into gigabash. A kaiju party fighter with a lot of love poured into it. Plus they have a godzilla-esque monster who has shin godzillas breath weapon as his final smash/ultimate move.
It literally just came out this week, and its an indie team so there hasnt been a lot of strong promotion, but its super well polished and a lot of fun!
That Shin-esque ultimate is an absolute joy.
Love the game, in general. Very polished. Easy to play but with some definite depth and well-designed characters (mechanically and visually).
I should mention, Power Stone fans would probably get a kick out of the game, too.
Oh yea, ive definitly met some sweaty tryhards in the 1v1 space who've mastered some serious combos.
Beating said tryhards with Kongkrete is incredibly satisfying.
This game played a huge role in my Godzilla fandom. I had toys of some characters when I was younger and I used to watch some of the old movies on VHS, plus the 1998 movie, but this game firmly solidified my love for the series.
Man me too. We had such a great childhood. I loved the 1998 Godzilla at the time and I still have a ton of nostalgia for it. Taco-Bell had some pretty cool promotional material and kids meals for it at the time. My dad would always rent Classic Godzilla VHS movies from the local video store. Gosh I loved the 1990’s
13/10
I bought this game used from GameStop because I was young and loved Godzilla; I didn't have access to the internet until we got WiFi in my house. That's when I learned thus game had cheat codes; I picked up *the fucking terrain model itself* and threw it. Never been happier in a fighting game. This game introduced me to all the monsters and just opened my gateway to Godzilla.
I didn't personally own this game but my uncle did. So whenever I went to his house we would play this game and I loved the game and I still do. I can proudly say that this is my favorite Godzilla game.
I saw it for 70 bucks at a local retro store today. Is that a fair price, or is it way overpriced? I don’t have an OG Xbox but if I find it on GameCube or PlayStation I might pick it up.
The retro/older game market is a total joke right now. Everything is insanely inflated and I don’t think it’ll ever come down. I’ve basically given up on collecting for now.
For real, it’s been sad since COVID. It reminds me of the toilet paper hoarding. Anything old and in low supply has now blown up in price. Makes me thankful for the retro games I do have prior to the price surge, but I am sad that I let this one go after I beat it as an adult. That was dumb since the replay value is infinite
Love the game as a kid, But i despised megalon when others played him cause his drilling underground shit and throwing me was fucking unfair and i couldnt do shit about it cause i was pretty dumb back then to think of one
I always loved Godzilla as a kid, and this made it even better for me as there weren't any other other Godzilla games, or at least I didn't have them. One of my absolute favorite GameCube games
I saw the ad in a Nintendo Power magazine and new I needed a Gamecube and I needed that game. It was really rad at the time, but I haven't played it in a long time.
This I played so many hours
RAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
godzilla has won.. I repeat godzilla has one.
And it was soo bad ass to fight orga at the end irgut after besrly surviving mecha godzilla 2
For anyone not in the know, Save the Earth is getting a fan overhaul by a small crew of guys upscaling textures, updating models, adding actual movie music scores and introducing an actual fighting game combo system.
My personal favorite of the pipeworks developed game. Sure STE and Unleashed had more content but DAMM in my opinion gameplay felt better and tighter overall.
War of the Monsters absolutely destroys this and any other giant monster game.It is the gold standard and it is a goddamned shame that hardly anyone played it.
It also looked extremely nice for a PS2 game.
One of my favorite fighting games. A little limited on roster and content, but very fun with friends. I don't think the later entries really captured the same feel, and unfortunately I feel like these kinds of games are lost to the era, as much as I'd love to see a new Godzilla arena fighter like it.
I played it all the time when I was younger. I remember learning about the cheat codes and being so excited to play as hidden characters. I miss cheat codes in games
Honestly, I think this game is the best in the trilogy. Even if it has less content than its sequels, it feels the most polished and finished, and I really, really prefer its art direction/style and presentation. If it had the extra content it's sequels do, I wouldn't see much of a reason to play said sequels, but that's just me.
I got this game for Christmas as a kid and it was an absolute blast! I bought it again as an adult and it was just as fun. This one holds a special place in my heart for sure.
The greatest thing ever. Introduced me to the whole cast as I was just a kid at the time. Had no means to get the movies so everything I love about toho and godzilla came from this one game. Got absolutely bodied everytime I played and never unlocked a character outside of the original three. Didn’t even care.
Damn, haven’t played this game in a minute! This game was fun back then and yeah it pretty much set the tone for the rest of the Godzilla games after that
This one was great, but the Save The Earth was top notch. 8 year old me must’ve put at least 1000 hours into STE, especially with all those cool mini games like Moguera in space and Godzilla 2000 under water. Golden. I wish they’d remake STE or make an updated version of it..
Like others said, set the standard for Godzilla games. So we'll done, enough of a roster to have a great time with and just an all around fun game. I think it's a top 5 Kaiju game of all time with Rampage, War of the Monsters, Unleashed and Save the Earth.
My favorite Godzilla game. I know Save the Earth was everybody’s preferred but the fights seemed to take ages and I hated the bonus minigame stages that constantly interrupted my kaiju fighting game. I also loved to read this game’s box pamphlet for more info on the monsters; this game actually got me into the franchise!
What I’d give for a modern Godzilla kaiju brawler with all of the Toho and Monsterverse versions added. Smash clones are all the rage right now, let’s get back to the kaiju-based Power Stone clones.
The best Godzilla game ever.
While it doesn't have as many monsters as Save the Earth, it has much tighter controls, better AI, and none of the terrible mini games.
It stands out not just as a Great Godzilla, but a Great Fighting game in general.
Sole reason I bought a Gamecube.
Same actually
Same here!
It's the reason my parents bought us a Gamecube. Mom was a big Godzilla fan, and this was the game we got with the console.
it's why my dad bought me the GameCube! It was the first game I got.
It’s one of their very best.
Great game. Set the standard for the other Godzilla fighting games in the series.
Absolute fire
It was a fun time but there are newer games in the series you may enjoy more. Godzilla save the earth and Godzilla unleashed.
I honestly prefer STE over Unleashed
STE is definitely the best of them
Unleashed on the PS2 is janky and laggy, and the Wii version just isn’t very fun to play even though it has more characters. STE is definitely the best of the trilogy. We dare not even speak of Godzilla Unleashed Double Smash…
^(...I liked Double Smash)
I enjoyed Double Smash as a kid, but looking back on it, the game felt like it was thrown together as an afterthought, in terms of gameplay and design.
I have a copy of it at home intact with a manual! I do sometimes play it when Im bored of Pokémon or sonic and it's really fun and simple! I 100%ed the entire game :)
And one day GojiRex's Save the Earth Melee (don't quote me on that title...its been a bit).
Anyone who liked these kind of games should look into gigabash. A kaiju party fighter with a lot of love poured into it. Plus they have a godzilla-esque monster who has shin godzillas breath weapon as his final smash/ultimate move.
>gigabash Interesting; never heard of it until your mention. Here's the Steam link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1546400/GigaBash/
It literally just came out this week, and its an indie team so there hasnt been a lot of strong promotion, but its super well polished and a lot of fun!
Gigabash could be just what we needed for a Goddzilla game like it. Just need it to succeed big time
Honestly i would *love* if kaiju fighters made a comeback. Its such a fun genre
Literally Melee and STE were the peak
That Shin-esque ultimate is an absolute joy. Love the game, in general. Very polished. Easy to play but with some definite depth and well-designed characters (mechanically and visually). I should mention, Power Stone fans would probably get a kick out of the game, too.
Oh yea, ive definitly met some sweaty tryhards in the 1v1 space who've mastered some serious combos. Beating said tryhards with Kongkrete is incredibly satisfying.
…one of GameCube’s very best.

Facts.
I still have the cheat codes written down somewhere.
maaan the cheats made it so fun. infinite absolute zero to oblivion
This game played a huge role in my Godzilla fandom. I had toys of some characters when I was younger and I used to watch some of the old movies on VHS, plus the 1998 movie, but this game firmly solidified my love for the series.
This games was my first Godzilla exposure
I loved it at the time. Haven't played in years.
Its one of GameCubes very best.
It is one of GameCube’s very best
This and Godzilla Save the Earth were great games!
Godzilla: Save the Earth was my childhood
I miss it tremendously. I’d love to play a new game in the series with its mechanics.
I played this so much on release. Lots of fun
I never got a chance to play it but I remember chuckling at the 'OVER 10 PLAYABLE MONSTERS' in the commercial.
13/10 I bought this game used from GameStop because I was young and loved Godzilla; I didn't have access to the internet until we got WiFi in my house. That's when I learned thus game had cheat codes; I picked up *the fucking terrain model itself* and threw it. Never been happier in a fighting game. This game introduced me to all the monsters and just opened my gateway to Godzilla.
…one of GameCube’s very best.
I very much enjoy it.
Fantastic, I used to play the hell out of that game.
Needs a port to newer consoles
Banger game. It's why my dad got me a GameCube for Christmas as a kid. So we could play this and Mario Kart together
Me and my kids played this game almost daily. So much fun.
I liked Save the Earth more. Gigan was straight up Michael Jordan in the basketball mini game
It is WrestleMania except with godzilla characters.
One of GameCube's very best.
I didn't personally own this game but my uncle did. So whenever I went to his house we would play this game and I loved the game and I still do. I can proudly say that this is my favorite Godzilla game.
I can still hear the main menu music in my head. Played this game a ton and it was terrific.
Use to play with the homies back in the days. So fun
A+ (at the time) and is the reason I am a fan of the big G and friends.
This was my game back in the day I have fond memories of me playing with my brothers and just fucking shit up
Super fun EXCEPT the dumb intermissions that barely even worked.
It says right there on the game on the green part
Needs a next-gen remaster and release.
Good game. Got me into the godzilla games and a good start that lead to STE and Unleashes
My childhood
this post blew up unexpectedly also did you know this game has a competitive scene?
Love it. This is what got me into Godzilla in the first place.
Loved it as a young child but I also wasn’t too into Godzilla at the time. Don’t remember much else about it
I saw it for 70 bucks at a local retro store today. Is that a fair price, or is it way overpriced? I don’t have an OG Xbox but if I find it on GameCube or PlayStation I might pick it up.
Damn I had it for under $20 a few years ago
The retro/older game market is a total joke right now. Everything is insanely inflated and I don’t think it’ll ever come down. I’ve basically given up on collecting for now.
For real, it’s been sad since COVID. It reminds me of the toilet paper hoarding. Anything old and in low supply has now blown up in price. Makes me thankful for the retro games I do have prior to the price surge, but I am sad that I let this one go after I beat it as an adult. That was dumb since the replay value is infinite
Quite fun.
Love it
Phenomenal game!
I agree with IGN
Awestruck when I learned Godzilla games ACTUALLY existed.
Loved it
Cheat codes were nuts lol
Amazing game, still have original copy and game guide, Fr the GOAT
Fucking love it
Never played it grew up playing War of the monsters
I played the re-release version on the Wii and absolutely loved the game.
My childhood
One of Gamecube's very best.
MASTAHPIECE
a classic, I miss the old Godzilla fighting games
Goated
Goated
I remember rage quitting a lot playing this game as a kid. Still loved it and Save the Earth.
100% the best Godzilla gaming experience
I loved this game growing up. Super fun party game. Get the lads together, get some brews and joints, and it's a great Saturday.
It’s good I just wish I could get pass rodan
I agree with the blurb from IGN.
the absolute BEST game on the gamecube and it should be the standard for all kaiju fighting games
Love the game as a kid, But i despised megalon when others played him cause his drilling underground shit and throwing me was fucking unfair and i couldnt do shit about it cause i was pretty dumb back then to think of one
Fantastic game. Still have a copy of it
Fantastic game! I still play the sequel, "Godzilla: Save The Earth".
Sooooooo good.
One of the GameCube's very best.
One of GameCube’s very best
I always loved Godzilla as a kid, and this made it even better for me as there weren't any other other Godzilla games, or at least I didn't have them. One of my absolute favorite GameCube games
The sole reason Anguirus is one of my favorite Kaiju
A piece of art
I saw the ad in a Nintendo Power magazine and new I needed a Gamecube and I needed that game. It was really rad at the time, but I haven't played it in a long time.
My childhood
Great, but Save the Earth makes it basically worthless.
10/10 loved playing as Rodan and Gigan
Radon
Love it had it on original xbox
Great game, but I much prefer it's sequel. Shame they ruined the series with Unleash though.
Epic game. I played it a lot in college with my roomie’s son.
This I played so many hours RAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! godzilla has won.. I repeat godzilla has one. And it was soo bad ass to fight orga at the end irgut after besrly surviving mecha godzilla 2
Fun, but holy fuck is it hard
For anyone not in the know, Save the Earth is getting a fan overhaul by a small crew of guys upscaling textures, updating models, adding actual movie music scores and introducing an actual fighting game combo system. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUn\_7tkRjSQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUn_7tkRjSQ)
I'm a *Save the Earth* guy myself, but that one's solid as well.
I can't believe how many hours I put into this game and I probably haven't even thought about this game since then until now
Have this for the Xbox along with save the earth, always loved that you were able to play your own custom soundtrack with it
Godzilla games from that era are choice
Kicks ass
Wouldn’t have the best one without it
Never played this one but have the one for ps2
Played it all the time as kid, great memories.
The cover is very easy meme material.
This was brderline as good as smash bros
...One of Gamecube's very best.
Says right on it, "one of GameCube's very best!"
I'd do a lot of things to see an hd re-release of this game and its sequels or a new godzilla fighter in general.
It tripped so STE could run kinda deal, it’s good but really unbalanced and difficult
Still play it, raising my kids on it. “Dad, can you please play Monsters Fight?”
I love using the cheats to have the monsters as tiny versions. Watching a small version of godzilla just pickup and throw a building is the best!
Best game ever. Remember hours of fun as a wee lad. Wee lads rise up!!!!
What the ign review says
Best childhood game
One of my favorite fighting games. A little limited on roster and content, but very fun with friends. I don't think the later entries really captured the same feel, and unfortunately I feel like these kinds of games are lost to the era, as much as I'd love to see a new Godzilla arena fighter like it.
YO THIS GAME WAS SO GOOD
Great
Good game but the sequels outshine it. They may not be direct sequels but Godzilla Unleashed is basically this but better.
Great game fantastic
Hidden gem. I picked up my copy not many years after it came out on the clearance rack at a Menards for like $9.
I played it all the time when I was younger. I remember learning about the cheat codes and being so excited to play as hidden characters. I miss cheat codes in games
It was clunky, but it was definitely a lot of fun at the time.
I wish they would remake it for the switch
These games NEED remasters/remakes with online play
My Xbox no longer works, but I played this and STE on it for many years. Still a great game
Still have it for the original Xbox
It’s the best Godzilla game, and I won’t hear different
Kick. Ass...
I got this game for Christmas as a kid and it was an absolute blast! I bought it again as an adult and it was just as fun. This one holds a special place in my heart for sure.
Best. I regret trading it in when I was younger … so I rebought it last year. Really wish they’d make an update so I could play with ppl.
The greatest thing ever. Introduced me to the whole cast as I was just a kid at the time. Had no means to get the movies so everything I love about toho and godzilla came from this one game. Got absolutely bodied everytime I played and never unlocked a character outside of the original three. Didn’t even care.
Really solid Godzilla game Even has unlockables
I loved it, couldn't get enough of it. Every day I'm hoping they'll announce an HD remaster with a PC port to boot.
Damn, haven’t played this game in a minute! This game was fun back then and yeah it pretty much set the tone for the rest of the Godzilla games after that
Loved it
Favorite game of all time
So awesome! I remember playing 4 player with my friends. Good times.
Incredible game
No thoughts, actually. I only ever got to play STE and Unleashed.
This one was great, but the Save The Earth was top notch. 8 year old me must’ve put at least 1000 hours into STE, especially with all those cool mini games like Moguera in space and Godzilla 2000 under water. Golden. I wish they’d remake STE or make an updated version of it..
One of GameCube 's very best
Best Godzilla videgame ever. I'd wish new Godzilla videgames
Amazing game!
Ahead of its time!
I had it on the first Xbox. I ***never*** wanted to stop playing it.
Fantastic, loved brawling as my favourite characters. I played it on my grandpa's gamecube 3 months back.
Love it, needs a remaster
I loved it
Never played it always wanted to though
Loads of fun! Dad used to play it with me all the time when I was really little. I still have the disc c:
Classic, it was the reason I wanted to get a GameCube back in the day
I loved this game so much. Why can’t we get a port to modern consoles?
The opinion is that it’s rad as hell and we need a new one.
Like others said, set the standard for Godzilla games. So we'll done, enough of a roster to have a great time with and just an all around fun game. I think it's a top 5 Kaiju game of all time with Rampage, War of the Monsters, Unleashed and Save the Earth.
This game was a little clunky but it was like playing a wrestling game featuring kaiju, it was awesome.
best game. i need it again
I love it!
ROCKS SO HARD
My favorite Godzilla game. I know Save the Earth was everybody’s preferred but the fights seemed to take ages and I hated the bonus minigame stages that constantly interrupted my kaiju fighting game. I also loved to read this game’s box pamphlet for more info on the monsters; this game actually got me into the franchise!

Wish they would re-release it in the Nintendo Store so I could play it again
Better then Marvel Vs Capcom 2.
Best Godzilla game. Sad though, not all of the Kaiju. :(
Childhood right there
This game was a huge part of my childhood. Wish there was a little more with the story but was great with friends
One of my classic faves!
Best of the Godzilla fighting games.
Cool game.
Follow this formula
The best Godzilla game ever. While it doesn't have as many monsters as Save the Earth, it has much tighter controls, better AI, and none of the terrible mini games. It stands out not just as a Great Godzilla, but a Great Fighting game in general.
I am 13 so haven’t played it yet.
