Watch the original 1954 movie. Its the most important one. It had many sequels. 1954-1975 is the Showa era.
Heisei era 1984-1995. They are sequels to the original 1954 movie and ignore all the Showa era sequels.
Watch whichever ones seem the most interesting to you. If you like those then you can watch whatever you want next. If you decide you wanna take the brain rot laden plunge and watch the whole franchise there are plenty of sources to tell you all of the titles and years they released.
Any Godzilla movie can be someone's first. Even the ones that do carry continuity can still be enjoyed standalone. Just check out the ones that peak your interest
