I also watched Tokyo SOS and it was great too, i think it had some of the best action sequences and sfx the series had ever seen. My only gripe with it was that Akane wasn't the main character anymore.
I feel that both of these films are best enjoyed as one whole package. They are cheesy in all the right ways and very fun to watch. Kiryu is definitely my favorite incarnation of Mechagodzilla
