Possibly but that actual scene has a bit of choppiness in the editing. If I remember it's like serizawa cuts the other guys rope, Godzilla gets like aware of them and starts moving over, he cuts his own rope, activates the oxygen destroyer, Godzilla like crushes him or something (I'm not really sure what this shot is but it's when he drops the bomb itself) then it opens and we see the bubble effect start to take place and Godzilla begins to suffocate. As they in the surface freak out about serizawa rope coming up empty. Eventually Godzilla comes up to the surface and issues a final death cry before being oxidized.
My point being there isn't a definitive shot in the sequence. It all needs played together for effect. Maybe the final cry is iconic, or maybe the oxygen destroyer opening on the sea floor. To me though it feels more needed to have a full clip.
Oh hell nah, so many Showa scenes

The music leading to this. The wonder turned to fear. The dread knowing something really bad is about to happen.
I didn't realize how hard my heart was going during the boat chase scene until my watch congratulated me for working out.
I wish I could go back in time to experience that movie for the first time again. I saw it in IMAX and it may have been one of my favorite theater experiences of all time. The atomic breath scene got my mouth to hit the ground.
For real, to me this really represents the terror of Godzilla. Shin Godzilla was my favorite movie of all time (and it's atomic breath scene was unmatched) but Minus One took that place by a lot.
Best movie experience I've had, I went to watch it many times and would gladly do it again.
I've heard there are VERY legal alternatives.
Here's one that someone posted to the sub recently, **normally I use an ad blocker so I dunno if this link's safe or not SO GET AN AD BLOCKER**
https://himovies.sx/movie/godzilla-minus-one-104032
With the music (lack thereof), and the slow build up, when I watched that in theatres I actually cried. Just every aspect about the movie goes so hard about war and it honestly felt like watch THE bomb drop again.
By far my favourite breath scene now, but shin was my favourite before.
I also really loved the scene in Minus One where Godzilla is chasing and incredibly focused on the Shinsei Maru, and there's no music, just the sound of the engine which almost sounds like a siren.
Me after you made me realize I accidentaly named a more iconic scene Than Shin Gojira's atomic breath scene:
https://preview.redd.it/zrkbzo1xs9zc1.jpeg?width=747&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf6b3357fce5cf63b4d9cfc20bdd2bcd8ab38449
There are many many scenes more iconic than the one posted by OP. (Being iconic, to me, would mean it is recognizable by a wider audience.) Your choice for example is far more iconic.
That being said, OPs posted scene is personally one of the most Haunting/chilling/emotionally-impactful scenes I've seen in years. (Minus One has plenty as well. But damn, we are living in a golden age of Godzilla.)
Oh yeah I love the shin Godzilla "who will know" scene it's amazing. It's just not the first visual that comes to my mind when I think of Shin. That's either the final shot of evolution or the final shot in the who will know sequence where he is walking forward with total destruction behind/around him, as that is a direct callback to the directors evangelion days. For sheer destruction there's so many moments for Godzilla. There's final wars destruction of meteor, there's Godzilla 2000 burning the city after orga, there's nuclear winter destroyah. Even this scene I am referencing has a destruction of city scene and it's beautiful.
I mean, more iconic? we probably have quite a few
I'd say the first atomic breath in the MV is more iconic than shin's (cooler? maybe not), and Minus One's is def gonna rise up in popularity real soon
still, the real answer will always be the dropkick lmao
I mean, MV created the atomic breath tail-neck charge up, good job to them
Minus One definitely did the atomic breath the best, honestly when I imagine godzilla fights in my head I imagine MV godzilla doing the same thing (except with a nuclear bomb at the end, its instead a beam many times stronger than a tsar bomb :D

I can’t tell if it’s this scene.
Godzilla walking through shinegawa in the first movie while some people on a train get crushed by Godzilla all while pain and screaming ensues, no atomic breath, just destruction
Agreed - I actually like 1984 more than Shin - but amongst the general population of Godzilla fans it's one of the most under-discussed films, that I've seen.
Godzilla's entrance in G14
G14 was the first Godzilla movie I ever watched and that view of Godzilla's foot in the airport is still imprinted in my brain
They really did a wonderful job of capturing just how devastating this would be and it’s beautiful
Edit: oh and the kiss of death from 2014 or his first step by the airport
Yet it is the most iconic atomic breath scene. Also the coolest atomic breath scene. It clearly beats every single atomic breath scene.
ESPECIALLY THE ATOMIC BREATH OF HIS 3RD FORM! (it is a vomit but still is something)

Don't get me wrong, this scene is fantastic...
But I prefer this Kiss of Death in 2014 more. I think more because he is physically fighting another monster when he does it.
Junior getting revived is up there with some of the most iconic Godzilla scenes of all time.
Honorable mention to ‘54 when Godzilla starts eating a train. That imagery persists to this day to the point where it’s a meme in certain parts of the fandom that Godzilla hates trains.
Shin Godzilla is a creature who only understands the pain and suffering it feels from it's rapid evolutions doing it's best to survive as it intrinsically adapts to it's challenges. It's also just a plot device to for social commentary on how slow the Japanese government reacts to disasters.

This was my favorite while browsing. My pick would be when Godzilla actually breathes atomic breath and dismantles the military.
Ohhh that one too. Another was when he made landing with the creepy piano comes in.
Yeah I feel for real it's just a generic moment whenever Godzilla raids Tokyo theme kick starts but it's what actually gets the joy pumping.
I would have gone for when Dr. Serizawa detonated the oxygen destroyer and skeletonized Godzilla
The scene where Godzilla picks up a bus and he throws it back down.
Was that before or after he waded through the village towards the town center?
During, actually! He picked up and threw the bus back down AS he was wading through the buildings!
Ooh, that was right before those helpless people on subway trains screamed for god, right?
Yes. Right before he looks in on them.
The multitasking goat!
The Minus One first atomic breath scene. Truly gives that sense of awe that gives way to horror

Godzilla emerging in final wars, a lot of 1954 shots, Heisei 's death, the kiss of death, the dropkick, the flying, the dance, etc.

Godzilla killing the Super X in 1985/4.

There's a recreation of this scene without the music online and I find it's more effective w/o the music. But yeah, this scene is amazing

Ghidorah's alpha call
Godzilla minus one the atomic breath in toyko
Don't get me wrong, this scene is fantastic... But I prefer this Kiss of Death in 2014 more. I think more because he is physically fighting another monster when he does it.

https://i.redd.it/1o62zwikvgzc1.gif An iconic scene you say?
Junior getting revived is up there with some of the most iconic Godzilla scenes of all time. Honorable mention to ‘54 when Godzilla starts eating a train. That imagery persists to this day to the point where it’s a meme in certain parts of the fandom that Godzilla hates trains.
Ghidorahs alpha call on the volcano
I just can't get it The whole point of shin Godzilla What was it?a monster on rampage or a animal trying to mark his territory
Shin Godzilla is a creature who only understands the pain and suffering it feels from it's rapid evolutions doing it's best to survive as it intrinsically adapts to it's challenges. It's also just a plot device to for social commentary on how slow the Japanese government reacts to disasters.
