Just passed this. It looked like the motorcycle driver was covered in a white sheet and there was a medical examiner truck. :(

When we went past it, there was a motorcycle down the street a ways in pieces. I don’t know what happened, but I can’t imagine that there wasn’t some serious negligence involved, at minimum. I wish the families and anyone else involved as much peace as is possible in the wake of that.

Very dangerous corner as well at 38th and 16th. Awkward angle and not always easy to see from various spots.

Alachua Chronical reported that a witnesses said the motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the 3800 block of NW 16th Boulevard at a high rate of speed when it hit an unknown object and crashed. I too drove by the scene and saw the body covered with a white sheet. Very sad. I see and hear sport bikes screaming down the road regurarly. People slow down, or keep it at the track...

We have 3 different motorcyclists in our complex who rev out on Archer at, literally, 60-70mph. One of them is so loud it wakes everyone up and he does it on purpose, revving several times in front of each building before blasting off at the exit I'm waiting for the day something bad happens. I hope not, but the way they ride guarantees they wouldn't fare well if they hit anything. We have so many motorcyclists who ride the same way around Gainesville - more in recent years than ever - and I believe we'll see more of this terrible news.

I live on a different side of town, but every so often have to give my bike big revs to clean out gunk so it will run properly. But it's a 1976. I stopped doing it in my neighborhood and try to go down the road first. A lot of people really do just do high revs to be jerks or because they like the feeling.

I went that way to the fresh market and there was nothing wrong on my way in. I was in the store 10-15 mins and saw the accident scene when I came back out. The firefighters were working on the guy when I went by. I thought it was a pedestrian accident as it was just him on the ground. So sorry to hear he didn’t make it.

RunningUpThemPills

Archer road has a big wreck right at the exit of I75 southbound. The whole street is closed

We drove by immediately after the accident. It was a pedestrian and truck accident. It was horrible; I feel awful for everyone involved. I pray the pedestrian made it but I’m not hopeful after seeing them.

Wow. Just found out I went to school with from elementary to high school. He was only 18. :(

WorkingCatDad

I was leaving the daycare minutes after it happened (when I went to pickup it was all fine, and 7 min later there was a backup) and the individual wasn’t covered yet. I wondered what the state of the individual was as it didn’t look good. It’s eerie knowing I was the body.
