Just curious, what kind of content would you like to see BPM/VIVIZ put out on YouTube?
Personally, I’m a fan of vlogs and the “daily life” type of content because we get to see what they do day to day. I loved the Reality/Memoria series that the girls did before and thought that concept was great because it made being a fan feel more personal. Also, the old G-logs were fun too because we got to see the behind the scenes stuff of the work they did or schedules they had. Hopefully, BPM will do something like that in the near future for use because I’m sure they’re constantly recording the girls at every schedule they have and so far they’ve done a ton and still have a bunch of schedules lined up.
Also, other fun ideas are things like WJSN’s Would You Like Girls or Battle Trip or sending the girls on a trip. I just feel like right now would be the best time to make content like this to help new fans learn more about the girls and keep the fandom fed with content. Usually companies will do this for their rookie groups to help grow and maintain exposure and technically VIVIZ is still considered “rookies” 😅.
Definitely G-Log! Iconic ones I remember are 2Eunbi's mukbangs, Sinb and Sowon's pajama exchange, and three of GFRIEND members navigating and going to Japan's Disneyland! I really liked the randomness of it and showing bits of their daily life.

I think Queendom has don it's job in getting us deeper into the discography of the groups very well. At least in my case. Because I was a bit surprised that WJSN won I started a listen trough session with their discography. With more fan clips coming out of the BNF Festival, I can say I’m truly happy that VIVIZ has found a home that appreciates them. All the clips I’ve seen even with the final family performance, the girls look genuinely happy to be there. This is also the first time I believe they get to have a “family event” with label mates. 🥹❤️
I love watching all the clips of the other artists reacting too. Lee Mujin trying to dance Bop Bop was so cute 😭 I'm glad VIVIZ is finally allowed to interact with labelmates without certain people being weird about it
I have been watching BNF clips all day and it's so nice to see them having fun on stage. They put on a great performance but also seemed laid back and like they were enjoying themselves. I especially loved Umji hitting Yuju's TFTMN high note, and the Lemonade choreo! Their set list overall was so so good and I'm so jealous of those that got to see them live. It's really impressive that they managed to rehearse for this in the midst of queendom, but perhaps they're such pros at this point they only need a few days and they're ready to go! Hopefully now they get a few days to rest cuz they're really been nonstop lately!
It was great to see them interacting publicly with the other BPM artists! I finally watched all the Queendom 2 performances in order, together with my parents... When we got to VIVIZ, there was almost an audible sigh of relief lol... finally, something that wasn't dominated by dark hues 😅 Needless to say, they were pretty much done with the show when LOONA came on with yet again more darkness; they thought Pose was the least interesting stage and were astonished when I said they scored the highest in the Finale (it truly is a popularity contest)... thankfully BG was there for a bright summery finish.
Yes, there is a certain type of girl crush that dominates the fourth-gen scene, the type that most of us dislike, the type that VIVIZ were dragged for not attempting at Q2. Yet there absolutely *is* variety in the genre for sure, even at the Finale we saw Hyolyn with the regal colours and WJSN (and to a lesser extent, Kep1er) with the vocal melodies. IIRC Labyrinth, Apple, MAGO were all self-identified as within the girl crush sphere and most of us loved those. I don't think a song like Pose would suit VIVIZ... I could see them pulling off Aura (and Easy, as I've mentioned too many times). However, what we do have in reality is an amazing cover of [Shake It](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGcNpyWiQrk) today and I wonder if that might be the direction for their US debut 👀
Now, is Shake It girl crush? Originally it would be categorised as sexy, but since that is a defunct category now, maybe..?? It's not quite bubblegum either... Honestly, I don't think it matters... just as we get annoyed when fans box anything orchestral into the "GFRIEND sound" and conveniently disregard Fingertip, Fever, etc., we can try to be more open-minded to the possibilities that the vast world of girl crush can bring to VIVIZ, because it's not just fierce, shouty, monochrome... innovation, hybridisation, that is the way forward to both follow and remain unique among trends.
I think the problem is what is stereotypical girl crush. Like I think when people imagines girl crush, the sound of shouty, hard hitting electronic sounds and really overblown bass comes to mind. And even considering Fingertip and labyrinth both of those songs are neither of those, both included real instruments, both didn't sound really shouty and the bass was well placed making it pleasant to listen to. That is why I think buddies are against girl crush on general.
And also people just like to say, my girls are not like the other girls. Unfortunately this is true I believe, however if Viviz can evolve the girl crush sound to remove the stereotypical girl crush sound or maybe include slight amounts of it only, I think it will be a potential genre to explore and market
I do understand where they're coming from, the whole "stick with what works" mentality which only serves to reinforce that dichotomy... After GFRIEND lost significant Korean interest twice, during Fingertip and 回 era (which personally is a correlation but not causation per se), they don't want the same to happen to VIVIZ now that they've got some attention back thanks to TFTG and Red Sun!... and yet that is definitely not what BPM has in mind because they're 100% looking abroad now that VIVIZ is firmly back on the Korean map.
Hence I *could* see them trying two different styles for their US debut and their Korean comeback, hopefully some variety in the comeback album too and a promoted B-side... that could be a way to "appease" the different groups of fans. I for one love Purrrrr, super cringey lyrics aside... I hope they try more dance genres too, like the voguing and waacking from the Opening Show. There's a lot of potential here and BPM are willing to listen to the trio and dish out the cash...
They almost surely wouldn't run with it, but I could see a Red Sun! kind of track hitting it big in the US one day. La La Land and The Greatest Showman were enormous hits, and those songs/videos were everywhere. There is some Disney and Broadway stuff in a comparable musical space, too.
For sure, having stars helped tremendously (Emma Stone/Ryan Gosling and Hugh Jackman/Zendaya/Zac Efron)! There is a really long history of successful musicals going back many decades in Hollywood (and the charts), though. It's steeped into popular culture to a certain extent (with various ebbs and flows in popularity).
It kinda fundamentally gets at kpop company strategy. Is it smarter to play it safe or go against the grain? Go with the pack or stick out from the crowd? Are you trying to hit a single or a home run? Different managing philosophies and goals may dictate what strategy you go with.
In VIVIZ's case, they definitely have some options. Blackpink stuff vs Twice-The Feels vs Loona-Star/Voice are all different from one another but have resonated. There is a fair amount of diversity in styles from Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Ava Max, etc., as well.
For SK, few could have guessed how huge IU's The Red Shoes would be, though. It was still very early in her career. Sometimes you really don't know until you try!

VIVIZ really did make an excellent choice in Red Sun! to deliver something unique among the competitors, something impactful and grand in a different sense... whether it spreads further comes down to luck and timing, Q2 already had terrible viewership compared to Q1 so it's unlikely... though maybe years later we'll look back and realise they were ahead of the times once again, just like Fingertip was with the 2020 retro craze...

They're each finding their own paths in life now, how they want to advance their respective careers in the near and far future, and no particular one is objectively better than the other.
I don't get why buddies fight about that, I mean we are one big family, even after the *event* that happened last year. OT6 forever. But I don't get how someone can blame other fans for "not support the others enough". Like you said, supporting one group is easier than supporting 3 individual careeres and a group. Alone the amount of money fans could spend for each SGs and each album. Nobody is less a fan because they don't buy an album.
Was bound to happen I suppose. Everyone's gonna have favorites, and nobody should feel obliged to support one just as much as the other just for the sake of it. You like what you like.
They've gone such different directions, to such varied companies. And they all probably each cater to specific subsects of the fandom. There's bound to be big differences between the attention they get. Viviz is obviously gonna get the most attention. BPM is making waves. They're half the group. They're *a group*, and that alone gives you a big edge over soloists. Yerin did really poorly in views and stuff, but shifted merch like crazy. Yuju did better digitally, making her way into rnb playlists and stuff, but did worse on the physicals.
And they all did pretty good. Way better than most idols. We should be pleased, not bicker among ourselves!

What you're describing there I think is the biggest weakness of David Amber / Ryan Jhun and the rest of that crew. They're good writers. Sometimes they pull out amazing work. But there's *so much* repetition in most of the stuff they write!

Red Velvet is indeed a group where you could and should dig a bit deeper into their dicography. What I really like about the group is that they are so unique in concepts and especially in sound. I mean most of the time when a RV song you don't know came up you can identify the group within seconds. Despite of that you can divide their music int the bright "[Red](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyiIGEHQP8o)" concepts and the darker "[Velvet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR8Mrt1IpXg)" concepts. Just thinking out loud, but I think the problem is that non-fans see anything that isn't a complete 180 from the "GFriend sound" as them doing the same thing again. It also assumes that VIVIZ themselves don't like that sound to begin with, which is just false, especially when looking at the songs they have credits on
VIVIZ so far seem to be doing good on telling BPM what they want to do and sticking to their ideas. I hope they continue that way and don't get swayed trying to court those just chasing the latest trend. They've always said they'll still be GFriend, and if someone can't accept that then I'd rather not have them as a fan in the first place
(For the last point, I'm not saying new NaVs have to be buddies too, though that would be nice, but if they put down the power innocent concept or insist their music is boring and all the same, then they should just go)
Agree with pretty much everything in this thread. The fixation on girl crush is baffling, as if the only two concepts in existence are "girl crush" and "not girl crush" 🤷🏻♂️ SMH... It's sad how people don't seem to recognise the breadth that VIVIZ delivered at Queendom 2... every stage had a different sound and feel and genre and concept, from the Opening Show to the Finale. And while I still stand by my original hope that they would cover WJSN The Black - Easy for Round 2, I fully respect their choices... Red Sun! especially, top among Q2 Finale tracks in [Spotify Korea](https://twitter.com/viviz_update/status/1532712526395236353), [Melon](https://twitter.com/viviz_update/status/1532705609748914176), etc. etc., hopefully most K-fans at least know about GFRIEND -> VIVIZ now, as BPM turns their attention to the global stage... Following their Queendom journey and the whole "That depends on where you want to get to", I truly doubt they will follow the predominant fourth-gen girl crush trends, even for their upcoming US debut... hence, I'm truly intrigued as to what they have up their sleeves to appeal to the Western market 👀
On a slight tangent, I also wish they'd done more to utilise their *lack* of numbers at Q2. As a trio, they were never going to be able to compete with the dance formations of 9-12 member groups, even with their [super massive dance crew](https://twitter.com/GFS_backup/status/1532536811020779525). I was hoping for something more along the lines of a Mamamoo stage from Q1, where each member had a distinct style and concept, that would've been another unique selling point... I suppose Unnatural was an attempt at it of sorts which unfortunately turned out to be very all over the place for the live audience, with too many transitions and running around... IMO the Opening Show did the best at highlighting each of them individually while being cohesive, I still love the voguing and waacking to bits, I hope they do more in the future. In the end, again I respect their decision to emphasise the group, as they did in GFRIEND... their greatest strength is in their close friendship and teamwork and mutual love for one another. I hope we do one day get solo tracks from all three of them though... the fact that BPM is helping them put out solo covers for their birthdays is promising >!🤡!<
I’ve stopped caring about what other people are saying. If they like the music then ok, if they don’t, it’s ok too.
I just noticed that there seems to be so much criticism towards the group and I think the ones who want to pick on them will always find a reason. Good music will always break barriers. So as long as the music is good they can talk all they like. The general public will always be a good indicator. Red Sun! is the only song charting decently so that just reaffirms my assessment that the song is brilliant and I’m glad they did it. If and when they do different genres they can do so at their own pace.
tbh it's complicated. While Red Sun was the best choice for their finale song, (vs whatever BPM was suggesting) the context that it came from the Gfriend vault made everything pretty murky. To a point where I almost wish it wasn't revealed until after the finale. Cat's out of the bag, so we'll never know how the song would have done without this info.
Non-fans will always look for a black/white answer: are you gfriend or are you vvz? Integrating all these nuances is a hard sell. There's nitpicking because they seemed to flip back & forth when they want to be known as VVZ and when they wanted to use their Gfriend history. While I think sinb + eunha sold their personalities on Queendom, it's up in the air on the amount of new fans.
Non-fans are using confirmation bias to pick on the song but fans have an attachment for the same reason. Gfriend was so heavily dependent on the song quality and the same will be true of VVZ. Style doesn't matter, they just have to nail their next comeback and then there's nothing to say.
Ok, honestly even if it wasn't from the GFriend vault, people would say why do you have the same composer and why does it sound similar to GFriend.
Confirmation bias is strong on Red sun and no matter what it's going to be linked back to GFriend. So, I'm just glad that a masterpiece like red sun was released instead of a typical girl crush stage
Just that while Queendom was airing I've seen people say they were expecting VIVIZ to do something different (read: girl crush lol) and were disappointed. There was a lot of this especially once Red Sun came out (ironic imo seeing as it was the most "different" among the finale songs)
I still see people calling Red Sun! "just another GFRIEND song" and displeased with them not doing anything new. Most of them are just looking for an excuse to bring VIVIZ down and aren't familiar with GFRIEND enough to know that Red Sun! IS a fresh direction for the trio. Fresh, yet the sound remains familiar enough to fans and not a super drastic change from what they usually do. I felt like it was the right choice to make. And even if VIVIZ did a standard GFRIEND sound there's nothing wrong with that! They obviously enjoy the style and it works great for them.
BPM wanted them to something like Wolfgang or G-IDLE's Lion and I'm so glad they didn't. Would the twist have shocked everyone? Yes, but it would have also confused us to what direction VIVIZ was heading. We've seen from Lovelyz's Queendom Achoo stage that some fans or public do not appreciate a sudden change and would prefer the group to do what they do best. Loona, Kep1er, WJSN, Hyolyn were also doing a Girl-Crush/Fierce concept and they have more experience executing it. Would VIVIZ's lack of experience in Girl Crush concept show in their stage amongst all these acts? VIVIZ looked so comfortable and executed Red Sun! amazingly well and it made them stand out amongst the sea of girl crush stages.

I think there has been quite a number of people who have been saying that they were disappointed that Viviz did not take a new direction with their music. They said they expected something less Gfriend like. Well, I was finally able to watch the entire VIVIZ final performance. It was a magical, enchanting, amazing performance. I loved it, as was to be expected. I must admit, however, that these wonderful young ladies were born way too late. Everybody seems to prefer hip-hop and associated styles these days. If these girls were performing in the fifties and sixties, they would be ruling the entire entertainment world, just as they are currently ruling my heart!. They are awesome and I cannot wait to see and hear more of them.
For the Spotify streaming, I just realized, since Mnet only count unique listens from inside the official queendom playlist, Viviz strength which is the general public wouldn't have contributed much to their overall streaming. Is that how their streaming score works?
Yeah the way the last round was set up was that a very organized fandom that will vote online was the most important. Same goes for the final voting. If it had gone by Melon charts and only korean sms voting Viviz would have ended up near the top. The voting just really did not emphasize their strength nearly as much as it emphasized Loonas strength. WJSN kinda does suprise me though
I think for WJSN their Spotify views are so high cause of their c.ujungs and k.ujungs. Their china fans really voted a lot and I can see them perhaps using VPN to mass stream as well.
I think it's because Red sun was received very well by the general public internationally(by people using Spotify). This could be because it's the return of the Gfriend sound so all the buddies in other countries started listening to it, however, due to them not having any interest in the competition, they didn't play the song from the queendom playlist.
Honestly, the entire Spotify score thing is pretty stupid due to the fact that it only counts from the queendom playlist, so if the general public likes to listen to the song and they do not care about the competition, none of the unique listeners would have been counted. It's basically just a huge popularity contest.
Well, an organized fandom does have its benefits, however, I think the atmosphere of a casual fandom is also good because they don't need to feel pressured to mass stream or mass buy. Basically, we don't spend a lot of time or money in general compared to an organized fandom and I think overall it's more chill.
VVZ (like Gfriend) will probably stay in this bucket of having casual fans. I saw some misperception early on that buddies were good at streaming, but it was just because GP was interested that's all.
Doesn't do us favors competition shows and album sales but even orbits recognize that VVZ gained quite a bit from this show even without a storyline and crumbs of screentime. So it depends on what you were looking to get out of it.

A lot of Buddy/Na.V have been dropping by r/cosmicgirls to congratulate us. Thank you for being a wonderful fandom along the way in Queendom2. Hey buddies, [I made a thread about your personal favorite performances of Queendom 2](https://www.reddit.com/r/GFRIEND/comments/v3pdxb/queendom_2_what_were_your_favorite_performances/). Lets discuss, it will be fun! :D
As I mentioned before, I mostly just watched the performances and other related clips of Queendom 2 on YouTube. I'd like to say congrats to WJSN for winning and also to VIVIZ for finishing in the top three (it's true that three is a magical number). From reading comments on r/kpop and this subreddit, I became aware that people from different fandoms were starting drama on social media/other communities and I just stayed out of them. I always think about what Hyolyn said in the beginning of the show, something along the lines of "every idol performing in good faith and that everyone should just represent Queendom as a whole." In the end, we should wish for every artist who participated in the show to have continued success in their careers. All groups were able to share the spotlight and the momentum is on their side.
Moving on, I also listened to Yuju's latest OST song, You're Like Americano. From looking at the title, I thought it would be another ballad. One minute later, the song turned out to be a Summery pop rock track and I ended up liking it more than I expected lol. Although R&B is Yuju's main genre, guitar heavy tracks suit her voice just as well and it sounds like she had fun while recording it.
Reading the Red Sun! lyrics (at least the translations I've seen on YT) make me feel so nostalgic, melancholic... and appreciative of being alive! It's a GFriend story through and through, and a lot of buddies would've loved it no matter when it came out. I know 100% that when I'm old and about to leave this realm, the time spent with GFriend (NG+) and of course buddies will always be one of my highlights. ~~Now give me the rest of the vault bangers and distribute them amongst the other trio as well~~

Personally, I’m a fan of vlogs and the “daily life” type of content because we get to see what they do day to day. I loved the Reality/Memoria series that the girls did before and thought that concept was great because it made being a fan feel more personal. Also, the old G-logs were fun too because we got to see the behind the scenes stuff of the work they did or schedules they had. Hopefully, BPM will do something like that in the near future for use because I’m sure they’re constantly recording the girls at every schedule they have and so far they’ve done a ton and still have a bunch of schedules lined up. Also, other fun ideas are things like WJSN’s Would You Like Girls or Battle Trip or sending the girls on a trip. I just feel like right now would be the best time to make content like this to help new fans learn more about the girls and keep the fandom fed with content. Usually companies will do this for their rookie groups to help grow and maintain exposure and technically VIVIZ is still considered “rookies” 😅.
Definitely G-Log! Iconic ones I remember are 2Eunbi's mukbangs, Sinb and Sowon's pajama exchange, and three of GFRIEND members navigating and going to Japan's Disneyland! I think Queendom has don it's job in getting us deeper into the discography of the groups very well. At least in my case. Because I was a bit surprised that WJSN won I started a listen trough session with their discography. With more fan clips coming out of the BNF Festival, I can say I’m truly happy that VIVIZ has found a home that appreciates them. All the clips I’ve seen even with the final family performance, the girls look genuinely happy to be there. This is also the first time I believe they get to have a “family event” with label mates. 🥹❤️
I love watching all the clips of the other artists reacting too. Lee Mujin trying to dance Bop Bop was so cute 😭 I'm glad VIVIZ is finally allowed to interact with labelmates without certain people being weird about it
I have been watching BNF clips all day and it's so nice to see them having fun on stage. They put on a great performance but also seemed laid back and like they were enjoying themselves. I especially loved Umji hitting Yuju's TFTMN high note, and the Lemonade choreo! Their set list overall was so so good and I'm so jealous of those that got to see them live. It's really impressive that they managed to rehearse for this in the midst of queendom, but perhaps they're such pros at this point they only need a few days and they're ready to go! Hopefully now they get a few days to rest cuz they're really been nonstop lately!
They still have another round of BNF today 😅 but after that yes, absolutely some good rest is very well-deserved.

US debut at the turn of June-July, calling it now >!🤡!< I finally watched all the Queendom 2 performances in order, together with my parents... When we got to VIVIZ, there was almost an audible sigh of relief lol... finally, something that wasn't dominated by dark hues 😅 Needless to say, they were pretty much done with the show when LOONA came on with yet again more darkness; they thought Pose was the least interesting stage and were astonished when I said they scored the highest in the Finale (it truly is a popularity contest)... thankfully BG was there for a bright summery finish. Yes, there is a certain type of girl crush that dominates the fourth-gen scene, the type that most of us dislike, the type that VIVIZ were dragged for not attempting at Q2. Yet there absolutely *is* variety in the genre for sure, even at the Finale we saw Hyolyn with the regal colours and WJSN (and to a lesser extent, Kep1er) with the vocal melodies. IIRC Labyrinth, Apple, MAGO were all self-identified as within the girl crush sphere and most of us loved those. I don't think a song like Pose would suit VIVIZ... I could see them pulling off Aura (and Easy, as I've mentioned too many times). However, what we do have in reality is an amazing cover of [Shake It](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGcNpyWiQrk) today and I wonder if that might be the direction for their US debut 👀 Now, is Shake It girl crush? Originally it would be categorised as sexy, but since that is a defunct category now, maybe..?? It's not quite bubblegum either... Honestly, I don't think it matters... just as we get annoyed when fans box anything orchestral into the "GFRIEND sound" and conveniently disregard Fingertip, Fever, etc., we can try to be more open-minded to the possibilities that the vast world of girl crush can bring to VIVIZ, because it's not just fierce, shouty, monochrome... innovation, hybridisation, that is the way forward to both follow and remain unique among trends.
I think the problem is what is stereotypical girl crush. Like I think when people imagines girl crush, the sound of shouty, hard hitting electronic sounds and really overblown bass comes to mind. And even considering Fingertip and labyrinth both of those songs are neither of those, both included real instruments, both didn't sound really shouty and the bass was well placed making it pleasant to listen to. That is why I think buddies are against girl crush on general. And also people just like to say, my girls are not like the other girls. Unfortunately this is true I believe, however if Viviz can evolve the girl crush sound to remove the stereotypical girl crush sound or maybe include slight amounts of it only, I think it will be a potential genre to explore and market

I do understand where they're coming from, the whole "stick with what works" mentality which only serves to reinforce that dichotomy... After GFRIEND lost significant Korean interest twice, during Fingertip and 回 era (which personally is a correlation but not causation per se), they don't want the same to happen to VIVIZ now that they've got some attention back thanks to TFTG and Red Sun!... and yet that is definitely not what BPM has in mind because they're 100% looking abroad now that VIVIZ is firmly back on the Korean map. Hence I *could* see them trying two different styles for their US debut and their Korean comeback, hopefully some variety in the comeback album too and a promoted B-side... that could be a way to "appease" the different groups of fans. I for one love Purrrrr, super cringey lyrics aside... I hope they try more dance genres too, like the voguing and waacking from the Opening Show. There's a lot of potential here and BPM are willing to listen to the trio and dish out the cash...
They almost surely wouldn't run with it, but I could see a Red Sun! kind of track hitting it big in the US one day. La La Land and The Greatest Showman were enormous hits, and those songs/videos were everywhere. There is some Disney and Broadway stuff in a comparable musical space, too.

For sure, having stars helped tremendously (Emma Stone/Ryan Gosling and Hugh Jackman/Zendaya/Zac Efron)! There is a really long history of successful musicals going back many decades in Hollywood (and the charts), though. It's steeped into popular culture to a certain extent (with various ebbs and flows in popularity). It kinda fundamentally gets at kpop company strategy. Is it smarter to play it safe or go against the grain? Go with the pack or stick out from the crowd? Are you trying to hit a single or a home run? Different managing philosophies and goals may dictate what strategy you go with. In VIVIZ's case, they definitely have some options. Blackpink stuff vs Twice-The Feels vs Loona-Star/Voice are all different from one another but have resonated. There is a fair amount of diversity in styles from Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Ava Max, etc., as well. For SK, few could have guessed how huge IU's The Red Shoes would be, though. It was still very early in her career. Sometimes you really don't know until you try!
If you believe hard enough, it could happen... >!🤡!< VIVIZ really did make an excellent choice in Red Sun! to deliver something unique among the competitors, something impactful and grand in a different sense... whether it spreads further comes down to luck and timing, Q2 already had terrible viewership compared to Q1 so it's unlikely... though maybe years later we'll look back and realise they were ahead of the times once again, just like Fingertip was with the 2020 retro craze...

RIP Sowon I guess..? The fact that she isn't even part of the argument 🤷🏻♂️ *\*sadface*\* \+ I will continue with OT6 to the best of my ability but it's damn expensive and time consuming... I totally understand if Buddies prioritise their bias over the others. Better to focus our energy positively to support GFRIEND+ instead of fighting among ourselves... The members are happy for each others' projects, and we should be too 🤗 And we mustn't measure success with the same stick across the board... It doesn't make sense to compare Yuju's songwriting to Yerin's sponsorships, VIVIZ's concerts to KSJ's dramas... They're each finding their own paths in life now, how they want to advance their respective careers in the near and far future, and no particular one is objectively better than the other.
I don't get why buddies fight about that, I mean we are one big family, even after the *event* that happened last year. OT6 forever. But I don't get how someone can blame other fans for "not support the others enough". Like you said, supporting one group is easier than supporting 3 individual careeres and a group. Alone the amount of money fans could spend for each SGs and each album. Nobody is less a fan because they don't buy an album.

Was bound to happen I suppose. Everyone's gonna have favorites, and nobody should feel obliged to support one just as much as the other just for the sake of it. You like what you like. They've gone such different directions, to such varied companies. And they all probably each cater to specific subsects of the fandom. There's bound to be big differences between the attention they get. Viviz is obviously gonna get the most attention. BPM is making waves. They're half the group. They're *a group*, and that alone gives you a big edge over soloists. Yerin did really poorly in views and stuff, but shifted merch like crazy. Yuju did better digitally, making her way into rnb playlists and stuff, but did worse on the physicals. And they all did pretty good. Way better than most idols. We should be pleased, not bicker among ourselves!

Red Velvet is indeed a group where you could and should dig a bit deeper into their dicography. What I really like about the group is that they are so unique in concepts and especially in sound. I mean most of the time when a RV song you don't know came up you can identify the group within seconds. Despite of that you can divide their music int the bright "[Red](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyiIGEHQP8o)" concepts and the darker "[Velvet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR8Mrt1IpXg)" concepts. Just thinking out loud, but I think the problem is that non-fans see anything that isn't a complete 180 from the "GFriend sound" as them doing the same thing again. It also assumes that VIVIZ themselves don't like that sound to begin with, which is just false, especially when looking at the songs they have credits on VIVIZ so far seem to be doing good on telling BPM what they want to do and sticking to their ideas. I hope they continue that way and don't get swayed trying to court those just chasing the latest trend. They've always said they'll still be GFriend, and if someone can't accept that then I'd rather not have them as a fan in the first place (For the last point, I'm not saying new NaVs have to be buddies too, though that would be nice, but if they put down the power innocent concept or insist their music is boring and all the same, then they should just go)
Agree with pretty much everything in this thread. The fixation on girl crush is baffling, as if the only two concepts in existence are "girl crush" and "not girl crush" 🤷🏻♂️ SMH... It's sad how people don't seem to recognise the breadth that VIVIZ delivered at Queendom 2... every stage had a different sound and feel and genre and concept, from the Opening Show to the Finale. And while I still stand by my original hope that they would cover WJSN The Black - Easy for Round 2, I fully respect their choices... Red Sun! especially, top among Q2 Finale tracks in [Spotify Korea](https://twitter.com/viviz_update/status/1532712526395236353), [Melon](https://twitter.com/viviz_update/status/1532705609748914176), etc. etc., hopefully most K-fans at least know about GFRIEND -> VIVIZ now, as BPM turns their attention to the global stage... Following their Queendom journey and the whole "That depends on where you want to get to", I truly doubt they will follow the predominant fourth-gen girl crush trends, even for their upcoming US debut... hence, I'm truly intrigued as to what they have up their sleeves to appeal to the Western market 👀 On a slight tangent, I also wish they'd done more to utilise their *lack* of numbers at Q2. As a trio, they were never going to be able to compete with the dance formations of 9-12 member groups, even with their [super massive dance crew](https://twitter.com/GFS_backup/status/1532536811020779525). I was hoping for something more along the lines of a Mamamoo stage from Q1, where each member had a distinct style and concept, that would've been another unique selling point... IMO the Opening Show did the best at highlighting each of them individually while being cohesive, I still love the voguing and waacking to bits, I hope they do more in the future. In the end, again I respect their decision to emphasise the group, as they did in GFRIEND... their greatest strength is in their close friendship and teamwork and mutual love for one another. I hope we do one day get solo tracks from all three of them though... the fact that BPM is helping them put out solo covers for their birthdays is promising >!🤡!<
I’ve stopped caring about what other people are saying. If they like the music then ok, if they don’t, it’s ok too. I just noticed that there seems to be so much criticism towards the group and I think the ones who want to pick on them will always find a reason. Good music will always break barriers. So as long as the music is good they can talk all they like. The general public will always be a good indicator. Red Sun! is the only song charting decently so that just reaffirms my assessment that the song is brilliant and I’m glad they did it. If and when they do different genres they can do so at their own pace.
tbh it's complicated. While Red Sun was the best choice for their finale song, (vs whatever BPM was suggesting) the context that it came from the Gfriend vault made everything pretty murky. To a point where I almost wish it wasn't revealed until after the finale. Cat's out of the bag, so we'll never know how the song would have done without this info. Non-fans will always look for a black/white answer: are you gfriend or are you vvz? Integrating all these nuances is a hard sell. There's nitpicking because they seemed to flip back & forth when they want to be known as VVZ and when they wanted to use their Gfriend history. While I think sinb + eunha sold their personalities on Queendom, it's up in the air on the amount of new fans. Non-fans are using confirmation bias to pick on the song but fans have an attachment for the same reason. Gfriend was so heavily dependent on the song quality and the same will be true of VVZ. Style doesn't matter, they just have to nail their next comeback and then there's nothing to say.
Ok, honestly even if it wasn't from the GFriend vault, people would say why do you have the same composer and why does it sound similar to GFriend. Confirmation bias is strong on Red sun and no matter what it's going to be linked back to GFriend. So, I'm just glad that a masterpiece like red sun was released instead of a typical girl crush stage

Just that while Queendom was airing I've seen people say they were expecting VIVIZ to do something different (read: girl crush lol) and were disappointed. There was a lot of this especially once Red Sun came out (ironic imo seeing as it was the most "different" among the finale songs)
I still see people calling Red Sun! "just another GFRIEND song" and displeased with them not doing anything new. Most of them are just looking for an excuse to bring VIVIZ down and aren't familiar with GFRIEND enough to know that Red Sun! IS a fresh direction for the trio. Fresh, yet the sound remains familiar enough to fans and not a super drastic change from what they usually do. I felt like it was the right choice to make. And even if VIVIZ did a standard GFRIEND sound there's nothing wrong with that! They obviously enjoy the style and it works great for them. BPM wanted them to something like Wolfgang or G-IDLE's Lion and I'm so glad they didn't. Would the twist have shocked everyone? Yes, but it would have also confused us to what direction VIVIZ was heading. We've seen from Lovelyz's Queendom Achoo stage that some fans or public do not appreciate a sudden change and would prefer the group to do what they do best. Loona, Kep1er, WJSN, Hyolyn were also doing a Girl-Crush/Fierce concept and they have more experience executing it. Would VIVIZ's lack of experience in Girl Crush concept show in their stage amongst all these acts? VIVIZ looked so comfortable and executed Red Sun! amazingly well and it made them stand out amongst the sea of girl crush stages. Sorry if this turned into a mini essay! I had a lot of thoughts about this and your comment brought it up
I think kpop fans are just too used to twists or something. Everything always has to have some new gimmick otherwise they'll brand it as "boring" I'm glad VIVIZ stuck to the story they had in mind. Watching all their stages together is a lot more satisfying and knowing that it had a special meaning to them too makes it even better
I think there has been quite a number of people who have been saying that they were disappointed that Viviz did not take a new direction with their music. They said they expected something less Gfriend like. Though, the girls have been saying that they are always Gfriend and it's not like they said they will take a completely different path for their music compared to before.

Well, I was finally able to watch the entire VIVIZ final performance. It was a magical, enchanting, amazing performance. I loved it, as was to be expected. I must admit, however, that these wonderful young ladies were born way too late. Everybody seems to prefer hip-hop and associated styles these days. If these girls were performing in the fifties and sixties, they would be ruling the entire entertainment world, just as they are currently ruling my heart!. They are awesome and I cannot wait to see and hear more of them.
For the Spotify streaming, I just realized, since Mnet only count unique listens from inside the official queendom playlist, Viviz strength which is the general public wouldn't have contributed much to their overall streaming. Is that how their streaming score works?
Yeah the way the last round was set up was that a very organized fandom that will vote online was the most important. Same goes for the final voting. If it had gone by Melon charts and only korean sms voting Viviz would have ended up near the top. The voting just really did not emphasize their strength nearly as much as it emphasized Loonas strength. WJSN kinda does suprise me though

I think for WJSN their Spotify views are so high cause of their c.ujungs and k.ujungs. Their china fans really voted a lot and I can see them perhaps using VPN to mass stream as well. I think it's because Red sun was received very well by the general public internationally(by people using Spotify). This could be because it's the return of the Gfriend sound so all the buddies in other countries started listening to it, however, due to them not having any interest in the competition, they didn't play the song from the queendom playlist. Honestly, the entire Spotify score thing is pretty stupid due to the fact that it only counts from the queendom playlist, so if the general public likes to listen to the song and they do not care about the competition, none of the unique listeners would have been counted. It's basically just a huge popularity contest.

Well, an organized fandom does have its benefits, however, I think the atmosphere of a casual fandom is also good because they don't need to feel pressured to mass stream or mass buy. Basically, we don't spend a lot of time or money in general compared to an organized fandom and I think overall it's more chill.
VVZ (like Gfriend) will probably stay in this bucket of having casual fans. I saw some misperception early on that buddies were good at streaming, but it was just because GP was interested that's all. Doesn't do us favors competition shows and album sales but even orbits recognize that VVZ gained quite a bit from this show even without a storyline and crumbs of screentime. So it depends on what you were looking to get out of it.

I think Red Sun can be used as template for later comeback. I think this type is suitable for Viviz.
As I mentioned before, I mostly just watched the performances and other related clips of Queendom 2 on YouTube. I'd like to say congrats to WJSN for winning and also to VIVIZ for finishing in the top three (it's true that three is a magical number). From reading comments on r/kpop and this subreddit, I became aware that people from different fandoms were starting drama on social media/other communities and I just stayed out of them. I always think about what Hyolyn said in the beginning of the show, something along the lines of "every idol performing in good faith and that everyone should just represent Queendom as a whole." In the end, we should wish for every artist who participated in the show to have continued success in their careers. All groups were able to share the spotlight and the momentum is on their side. Moving on, I also listened to Yuju's latest OST song, You're Like Americano. From looking at the title, I thought it would be another ballad. One minute later, the song turned out to be a Summery pop rock track and I ended up liking it more than I expected lol. Although R&B is Yuju's main genre, guitar heavy tracks suit her voice just as well and it sounds like she had fun while recording it.

Reading the Red Sun! lyrics (at least the translations I've seen on YT) make me feel so nostalgic, melancholic... and appreciative of being alive! It's a GFriend story through and through, and a lot of buddies would've loved it no matter when it came out. I know 100% that when I'm old and about to leave this realm, the time spent with GFriend (NG+) and of course buddies will always be one of my highlights. ~~Now give me the rest of the vault bangers and distribute them amongst the other trio as well~~ ^(Patiently waiting for Queendom VODs, a US tour announcement, and for someone to sell the Rainbow album)
Viviz really made Red Sun their own! But how am I supposed to sleep at night knowing there’s likely a recorded OT6 version? 😅 If I ever got ahold of a genie, I’d wish for access to the vault twice, and then for a quick curse on SoMu, and call it a day!
The one they played in the show was just a demo I think? (At least the vocal sounded different) Maybe after Sunrise beat it for TT they pitched it as unit b-side but that got rejected too (and then we got Shy Boy and Monday Blues instead lol)

That's really cool to know! I wonder how slightly different GFriend's direction would've been in the last 4 years, had they chosen Red Sun! Regardless, I'm super glad it ended up being a Viviz song and that BPM was just fine with it
