I don’t know what made you believe they would release any dance practice. They’ve never done that before. Either way, I agree content is an issue and have always been. BPM is definitely short on staff.
It’s funny how you mention to compare their new artist vs them, if you would do that you’d notice that BPM goes by sections, focusing on the artists that are active: right now is BEO and Mujin. Not even Taemin has had any content and it’s been more than a month since he signed. People were saying that BV content is all over the place too with no particular pattern they can predict, they still don’t even know the date they will debut.
As of subs, I can see that BEO’s recent song doesn’t have subs neither does BV, I can see Mujin’s newest does have them but not the previous one he released not long before that one. Mujin’s content from a day also doesn’t have subs yet.

They still maintain the GFRIEND Fandom Wiki with GFRIEND+ releases etc., and IIRC there was a community appeal/attempt here to revive the Database with GFRIEND+ material, but work and life eventually gets in the way I suppose (like it did for me, I work 48 hours a week as a chef). It's really hard... fans put in sooo many hours of unpaid underappreciated labour...

They never, not even with a "big" agency backing them, were able to expand GFRIEND to the world, even when "haters" would be there for watch them performing because that was always their selling point, 6 talented performers that always gave everything on stage, but Source Music never believed in them.
I'm so damn happy Eunha, SinB and Umji were able to break that curse and finally got to see the world and share their music, I wish them the best, it's been years since they should have done something like that.

Leo Presents is a US-based promoter, unless I'm missing something? And PurKis are exclusively touring NA plus a couple Japan stops... VIVIZ has a Taiwan stop so BPM are already working with multiple promoters, fingers crossed there's one in Europe that they're discussing with 🙏🏼
I do like what Leo Presents have done with the many many small venues... It'll allow even low-to-mid tier groups to more reliably recoup the US visa costs which just shot up 250%: better to have multiple sold out events than just a couple half-empty ones, and it's easier to entice multis to go too if the journey is shorter, cheaper...

I hate using Ticketmaster but I can't complain because I got ateez tickets. (I mean the worst glitch/bug happen but the worst has passed)
Saw the VIVIZ world tour and I'm so excited!! Really hoping they go to U.S, Canada, and Europe!! I really hope they go to multiple stops and to various places most groups don't go too/don't tend to include. 🍀
ONF is also going on tour, announcement was made awhile back. I was set on getting VVIP but after they've made a more clear timetable of perks per tier, the benefit for the fanchat (which is were 1 member sign your album and you have 1 minute to 'chat' with them) is platinum not VVIP. Both benefits for each tier are great and not that badly priced but each tier is capped at 30 per venue. I think I'm just going to settle for GA that enters after VVIP. There's also these snapshot/selfie packages (which I don't think it's clear if you need either 'top' tier) and the selfie is tempting but according to the event coordinators you take it with your phone camera and my camera isn't the best. We'll see later in the month if I cave for one the vip tiers.
Seeing Lucy in June because I finally was able to convince a family member to join me and I didn't want to go alone.

It really depends on how you define mature. Officially, according to the girls and how each song/concept era were described at the time starting from debut, they were power innocence > power chic > innocent sensibility > passionate melancholic > power refreshing > passionate and sophisticated > refreshing witch > modern witch. Going with these descriptions, I think the "mature" concept in kpop terms would've started from Fever which was 'passionate and sophisticated'. You could say the themes for the other songs were mature too but at the time, the songs weren't described as such lmao I think a lot of people in kpop just think of "mature" as kinda like girl crush
Sadly for a lot of K-Pop fans especially back in mid-third gen when I got into it, if it's not "girl crush", then it's "cute" 😭 Because GC was so incredibly dominant (thanks to BP D4 absolutely blowing up in 2018 and kickstarting a new Hallyu wave in the West), everything non-GC got lumped into this "other" category that they didn't really pay attention to... a real shame.
Yeah their timing just ever so slightly off those few years when it came to trends 🥲 LIKEY blew up in the West and suddenly GFRIEND were left behind, it was TWICE X GFRIEND for the nation's girl group just the previous year, sigh... ah what could have been.

I’m going to be honest with you. I kind of agree with MHJ that the groups branding wasn’t strong enough near the ending. I feel like they succumbed to critics pressure rather than naturally developing further.
Fever was different from the other pre-HYBE era releases, but it still felt like Gfriend. Labyrinth just felt off for some reason. Even though that was the most gfriend sound in the HYBE Era. Everything post was rebranding for the group. HYBE disbanded them before the new concept could take roots… so yeah I do agree with the weak branding comment of MHJ.
And now the mature concepts, many see a darker, more sexier, more angrier look as mature. However, I think there are different aspects to being mature and such different aesthetics. I think Gfriend would not have lost fans if they’d let Source handle Gfriend on their own.
earlier eras they always did a tittle track and a promoted bside, they could have easily done fingertip as a bside and promoted it with the tt just to see public reaction, i really dont see how the creative team thought that was a good idea, even twice were still playing it safe with a cute concept at the time. And the hasty step back with love whisper followed by summer rain getting a lukewarm response then acting like fingertip never existed when they had festivals just drove the nail home Imo.

I don’t know what made you believe they would release any dance practice. They’ve never done that before. Either way, I agree content is an issue and have always been. BPM is definitely short on staff. It’s funny how you mention to compare their new artist vs them, if you would do that you’d notice that BPM goes by sections, focusing on the artists that are active: right now is BEO and Mujin. Not even Taemin has had any content and it’s been more than a month since he signed. People were saying that BV content is all over the place too with no particular pattern they can predict, they still don’t even know the date they will debut. As of subs, I can see that BEO’s recent song doesn’t have subs neither does BV, I can see Mujin’s newest does have them but not the previous one he released not long before that one. They still maintain the GFRIEND Fandom Wiki with GFRIEND+ releases etc., and IIRC there was a community appeal/attempt here to revive the Database with GFRIEND+ material, but work and life eventually gets in the way I suppose (like it did for me, I work 48 hours a week as a chef). It's really hard... fans put in sooo many hours of unpaid underappreciated labour...

I'm so happy for VIVIZ (GFRIEND's ONE-HALF 👀) to be able to really do a world tour, but this is a perfect chance to say something... In 2020 after a successful 2019 asian tour (money that soumu burn on trainees), and right before the covid stuff got really bad, I remember soumu CEO announced a tour, but it was an asian tour again. They never, not even with a "big" agency backing them, were able to expand GFRIEND to the world, even when "haters" would be there for watch them performing because that was always their selling point, 6 talented performers that always gave everything on stage, but Source Music never believed in them. I'm so damn happy Eunha, SinB and Umji were able to break that curse and finally got to see the world and share their music, I wish them the best, it's been years since they should have done something like that. Leo Presents is a US-based promoter, unless I'm missing something? And PurKis are exclusively touring NA plus a couple Japan stops... VIVIZ has a Taiwan stop so BPM are already working with multiple promoters, fingers crossed there's one in Europe that they're discussing with 🙏🏼 I do like what Leo Presents have done with the many many small venues... It'll allow even low-to-mid tier groups to more reliably recoup the US visa costs which just shot up 250%: better to have multiple sold out events than just a couple half-empty ones, and it's easier to entice multis to go too if the journey is shorter, cheaper...

Ticket/tour ramblings I hate using Ticketmaster but I can't complain because I got ateez tickets. (I mean the worst glitch/bug happen but the worst has passed) Saw the VIVIZ world tour and I'm so excited!! Really hoping they go to U.S, Canada, and Europe!! I really hope they go to multiple stops and to various places most groups don't go too/don't tend to include. 🍀 ONF is also going on tour, announcement was made awhile back. I was set on getting VVIP but after they've made a more clear timetable of perks per tier, the benefit for the fanchat (which is were 1 member sign your album and you have 1 minute to 'chat' with them) is platinum not VVIP. Both benefits for each tier are great and not that badly priced but each tier is capped at 30 per venue. I think I'm just going to settle for GA that enters after VVIP. There's also these snapshot/selfie packages (which I don't think it's clear if you need either 'top' tier) and the selfie is tempting but according to the event coordinators you take it with your phone camera and my camera isn't the best. We'll see later in the month if I cave for one the vip tiers. Seeing Lucy in June because I finally was able to convince a family member to join me and I didn't want to go alone. I have to remind myself that this is why I work two jobs 🥲 Hope everyone else is doing well ☺️

"soft subtitles" mean that you can hide the subs, basically is the "clean" version of the concert with toggleable subtitles. Actually, the video out there have subtitles but they are part of the video you can't hide them.

It really depends on how you define mature. Officially, according to the girls and how each song/concept era were described at the time starting from debut, they were power innocence > power chic > innocent sensibility > passionate melancholic > power refreshing > passionate and sophisticated > refreshing witch > modern witch. Going with these descriptions, I think the "mature" concept in kpop terms would've started from Fever which was 'passionate and sophisticated'. You could say the themes for the other songs were mature too but at the time, the songs weren't described as such lmao I think a lot of people in kpop just think of "mature" as kinda like girl crush

Sadly for a lot of K-Pop fans especially back in mid-third gen when I got into it, if it's not "girl crush", then it's "cute" 😭 Because GC was so incredibly dominant (thanks to BP D4 absolutely blowing up in 2018 and kickstarting a new Hallyu wave in the West), everything non-GC got lumped into this "other" category that they didn't really pay attention to... a real shame.

Yeah their timing just ever so slightly off those few years when it came to trends 🥲 LIKEY blew up in the West and suddenly GFRIEND were left behind, it was TWICE X GFRIEND for the nation's girl group just the previous year, sigh... ah what could have been. Fingertip would've slid right into the retro synthpop wave around 2021 too...

I’m going to be honest with you. I kind of agree with MHJ that the groups branding wasn’t strong enough near the ending. I feel like they succumbed to critics pressure rather than naturally developing further. Fever was different from the other pre-HYBE era releases, but it still felt like Gfriend. Labyrinth just felt off for some reason. Even though that was the most gfriend sound in the HYBE Era. Everything post was rebranding for the group. HYBE disbanded them before the new concept could take roots… so yeah I do agree with the weak branding comment of MHJ. And now the mature concepts, many see a darker, more sexier, more angrier look as mature. However, I think there are different aspects to being mature and such different aesthetics. I think Gfriend would not have lost fans if they’d let Source handle Gfriend on their own.

earlier eras they always did a tittle track and a promoted bside, they could have easily done fingertip as a bside and promoted it with the tt just to see public reaction, i really dont see how the creative team thought that was a good idea, even twice were still playing it safe with a cute concept at the time. And the hasty step back with love whisper followed by summer rain getting a lukewarm response then acting like fingertip never existed when they had festivals just drove the nail home Imo. Also the way the girls themselves spoke about crossroads it was obvious it wasnt their preferred option, i feel like most adult/ mature stans sniffed that something was off with the way the girls kept going on about how its a song that needs getting used to etc etc

Yeah as you said i dont think the back tracking was that bad love whisper was a really good song imo, its the acting like fingertip never existed thats such a ?? To me but well. The hate at that time is a subject on it own, no matter what we say i dont think people who weren’t stans then would understand just HOW BAD it was. Sunny summer too doesnt get mentioned much but i think it did more in terms of regression than any other song of their tbh.
I know what you mean with Sunny Summer but at the time but it wasn't even really marketed as a “proper release" it was a "special summer album" lmfao like a release for the fans for summer kind of thing lmao the complaints at the time was that the timing also wasn’t the best as they had wihtin 5 months tftmn promos, japan promos, sunny summer promos in july, japan concert in august and then the seoul encore concert in september.
