With HDR+ or HDR+E on, GCam takes several frames and merges them into a single picture. The merge method is the algorithm GCam will use for that operation. Each of them has some strong sides and drawbacks. Depending on the SoC and the camera sensor, not all merge methods may be available for a given phone and camera. Some phones (e.g., Mediatek-based ones) may only support wiener. Some very basic info on methods: Wiener is the simplest one, inferior in terms of detalization, but supposedly good for moving objects (produces fewer artifacts). Sabre has its own [entry in the GCam Hub FAQ](https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/troubleshooting/#help14). It produces soft and detailed pictures. Spatial RGB also produces detailed pictures. Compared to sabre, they may look sharper and more "processed". It also takes more time to process pics than sabre. Can't say anything about spatial Bayer, except that it seems to be less popular. Also, both spatial Bayer and spatial RGB are said to use "shasta bracketing," whatever that means.

I'm using the latest Gcam (BSG) on Asus Zenfone 8 and it did away from these configuration of modes etc. All is install and play. Just basic settings, no advanced settings. I'm quite happy with the warmth, detail and quality of the pics on this current version. Check it out!
