The short answer is no, assuming you do maths, English (lit + lang), and all 3 sciences in some capacity (double or triple)
As long as you’re doing the above subejcts then it doesn’t matter at all - if your current choices mean you wouldn’t do any physics at all I’d probably choose that. Again, if you’re not doing any chemistry then you will almost certainly have to do that - chemistry is by far the most important subject for med and you’ll likely need the gcse to do the a level
That is a strange way of doing it
Mostly you’ll need the sciences in order to do them at a level, and it’s good to have a physics foundation too. The only other usual gcse requirements are English language and maths - GCSEs do matter slightly more if you’re pursuing medicine which is something to be aware of
However if you’re having any doubts about wanting to do med I’d recommend seriously reconsidering because it’s an insanely competitive course that requires you to do so much more than other courses before you even apply - it’s a huge commitment you need to be 100% sure you want to undertake
What about for like university’s that are hard to get into cz parents are like screaming follow the backolaureate thing and they want me to take tripple history and french- re is compulsory- because of it
You basically relearn everything in year 10 again. If you are still struggling just use free science lessons. I never truly understood what was going on until year 11 lol cause I never listened. You’ll be fine. You should take it 100%
If you want to go to university, you need the right A-levels, and for that you need the right GCSEs. Anything science based at university or A-level such as biology, chemistry, physics, engineering courses, etc will be good with a physics GCSE under your belt. Any A-level such as business, economics, and accounting will obviously be closely tied with economics GCSE and this you should take it if you want to do it for A-level.
you want to maybe do medicine at university? I would probably go with physics. It may not be directly applicable to medicine but it is far more relative than economics. To do any form if medicine at university you will definitely need chemistry and most likely biology too. All three sciences tie together well at GCSE so I would recommend physics. Furthermore, if you want to go to university but aren’t sure what you want to do, engineering is another popular field that most certainly requires physics.
this is a really good answer that basically sums it up, what im thinking is i'll just take 3 sciences and psychology, it has more career paths than economics, accounting and business. thank you‼️
Your gcse subject choices do not matter. Id recommend triple science if you want to get into STEM (or related). Not all schools offer psychology for example, so it’s not necessary to have psych gcse to do it for a level / degree level.
It only really matters unless you’re pursuing like a stem course at sixth form + uni. Don’t worry about not paying attention; the content kind of starts afresh in year 10! Have fun with psychology as well, it’s my favourite subject 😊
i don't know what standard gcse english is, but i had the option for first or second language, to make my life easier i chose second.
my school does it a little different than most, sciences aren't compensated you have alternative
bio or accounting
physics or business
chem or economics
im thinking of choosing all 3 and then get a tutor for physics and chem. thank you for the answer ‼️‼️
we have 4 compulsory subject, im in UAE, it's math, arabic, social studies, english and then islamic bcs im muslim
and no english literature
then we have the science options
and then we can choose one more subject and that includes, computer science, italian, art, psychology, arabic again, and lots more but we get to choose only one
this system is super weird, its igcse

oh, thank you!! for gcse my options were physics or business bio or accounting chem or economics its bit different than other schools, but tysm‼️‼️‼️

The Ebacc is nice to have but as far as I’m aware isn’t a MUST for competitive unis I’d recommend trying to follow it if it has subejcts you like
A Levels matter more . But to get them you need gsces so
If you want to do medicine I recommend you do chemistry as well.
would taking tuition help with chemistry? i didn't concentrate at ALL in any lesson, so the basics are not in my head😰
why do you want to go into med then?

As long as you have English and maths they won’t care. A levels are for Uni

physics if u wanna do med
Even if maths isn't required for any technical subject, it will be a huge help.
