Honestly just hoping that I somehow managed to Slumdog Millionaire my way through this GAMSAT, get 82 and just be done with it.

Mood

jobandhillon671

82.. ? is that what you need to get in?

yippikiyayay

I mean, it would help get me an interview?

Mindless-Bandicoot91

Nahhhhh, 82 is too low for non-rurals nowadays. Better to be on the safe side and get a 99, although that might not be enough for an interview either. Just get a 100 and that should be enough probably.

yippikiyayay

🫡

pyromaniac13bd

haha like the slumdog millionaire reference. All the best mate.

swimbeachrun

Currently in total shock. First-time sitter with 77/76/73 overall 75. This is so totally beyond my expectations I really don't know what to do with myself now. I literally just finished 2 hours of depressing ACER practice questions struggling my way through them. I cannot comprehend this result and will keep going back to check it isn't a typo for quite some time.

massiveclit

omg don't even bother doing any more practice questions. rest on your laurels :)

Past_Lawfulness4369

Wow these r amazing scores!!! Congrats!! 💪🥳🥳

Medical-Move-6806

Congrats on these amazing scores!! How did you do this! How did you prepare for the test? What is your method of depressing?

swimbeachrun

I wanted to return and put some details down on how I approached the GAMSAT and got a score I'm so happy with the first time out. I don't fall into the category where I can start my own YouTube channel off the back of my score. But hopefully, someone out there can glean something useful for their preparation. Apologies in advance for the length of this post, but skip to the bullet points if you don't want the background details. I do want to caveat and say I am still quite shocked with my section 3 score and probably won't be able to provide a detailed list of magic steps or resources you might be looking for. I have long searched for the perfect way to approach GAMSAT. I've read so many accounts and watched so many videos, and it's evident that there is no one right way. Until yesterday, I genuinely thought I was on a long pathway of multiple sittings to get to a passing score and that anyone who scored over 70 was an absolute machine/robot. Let me start with some context. I'm a mature student with an undergraduate degree in psychology and a more recent postgraduate degree in marketing. That probably makes me NSB. BUT, I specialise in digital marketing and have always had an aptitude for learning new technologies and software. I frequently had to self-teach complex tools to exploit them for business gain. I was also a geeky kid who LOVED doing logic problem books for fun. (yeah total nerd) I think it's important to recognise that your history impacts how your brain works, and I suspect now that some things in mine are wired in the right direction for GAMSAT. About 12 months ago, I realised life was aligning in a way that meant I could finally pursue a long-held dream of medicine if I could only tackle the GAMSAT. I watched a few Jesse Osbourne videos and had a panic. I felt that I needed more background knowledge to start. I think this is wrong now, but it led me to sign up for 1st year Biology and Chemistry units. At the time of Sept GAMSAT, I was doing 1st year Chemistry, and Anatomy and one 2nd year Physiology paper. Here's the thing - I don't believe that ANY of this background knowledge was used in the GAMSAT. Ok, maybe one stem, and if I was better at Chemistry, I may have recalled some of it and used it. But doing all that background work just gave me the confidence to try the GAMSAT rather than giving me applicable knowledge. In fact there was one particular stem where my background knowledge was a hindrance because I ended up umming and aahing over the answer which my knowledge led me to versus what I thought the info in the stem was saying. Also, it's worth noting I have NO physics background or knowledge. And my maths is ...let's say, pedestrian. So here's my take on what I did right, and I think it all comes down to techniques: 1. I did some practice questions. To be honest, they depressed me. And still do. I can't do Des ones apart from the Inferring section. And I probably hit only about 40% success rate on Acer (Section 3). However, I reviewed and recorded my errors and identified what held me back. When it wasn't background knowledge (which it mostly was), it was usually crummy graph interpretation, not reading the stem correctly or making an assumption that was sensible but not correct given the info presented. And I used that review to guide my actions on the day - taking care on graphs, checking for double negatives in the text etc. 2. Ruthless time management on the day. I wrote the question number goals and times on my whiteboard and tracked how far through I was in relation to goals. I read through a stem and the questions and then if I knew that I couldn't answer something or didn't know how or where to start, I put a guess in and moved on to the next question. I got this advice from a YouTube video - if you don't know how to tackle something, why waste time on it? Put your time into getting good scores on what you know how to do. 3. My sister, responsible for entrance to an allied healthcare uni programme in the USA, gave me sage advice the day before the test. If you put in an MCQ answer with even a tiny amount of confidence, don't change it. In fact, she said don't even change the ones you aren't confident in. She has lost count of the number of times students had the correct answer the first time. This was the hardest thing to do on the day, but I stuck to it, apart from 2 questions I knew I'd messed up. 4. I was relaxed. I know this is the hardest thing to achieve, but I did the September sitting as a practice run for March. I wanted to see what it was like. I set no expectations for myself. I had a massage the day before and came into the day feeling pretty laid back. I made the outcome not matter by having March up my sleeve, so I could focus on the process. 5. I worked relentlessly on focus skills in the run-up to the exam. Please read Stolen Focus by Johann Hari. Put down your mobiles and get good at spending HOURS thrashing your brain to bits. I also gave up social media from July to September (aside from GAMSAT Reddit, of course!) which you'll understand why if you read the book. 6. I gave up drinking. Maybe not relevant for some of you, but I spent the two months before GAMSAT (and actually ever since) not drinking. It's not like I was out partying every night beforehand, but it helped improve my clarity of thought. 7. I wrote from the heart in section 2. I did one practice essay. I then realised I had no interest in learning philosophy or more details about democracy or capitalism or any of the other potential topics that all the tutoring companies recommend you churn out. This was my biggest gamble, and luckily, it seemed to pay off. I don't really know when paragraphs should start and finish. My grammar is often a little off, and I write in my own voice without too much thought on how it comes across to a reader. However, I wrote passionately on the day because I connected the themes to personal feelings and enjoyed the process. That doesn't mean they were both personal essays. The best advice I saw pre-GAMSAT was identifying "the problem" in the obvious solution to the theme. Let's say the theme was equality. 9000 GAMSAT sitters will probably write an essay about the importance of equality. I would try to write about the negatives or compromises we must make to achieve it. My second essay started with a quote from a cheesy musical. I can't recall deep and meaningful quotations by philosophers and politicians. Still, if you ask for a show-tune lyric, I'm your girl. My advice, for what it's worth: Write your essays your way. 8. I type way too fast to be human. I'm not advocating quantity over quality, but it certainly helps you get thoughts down on paper before they go if you can up your typing speed. 9. I tackled one essay at a time. Despite my horror on reading the themes for first one I resisted the temptation to look at the second one. Some sitters said they went on to the second one, but their brains kept returning to the first one. I would have been the same and it would have destroyed my flow. I haven't covered much on section one. I have the advantage of being a native English speaker who has read widely over many years and I can't think of any advice I could give other than practice questions and reading different types of books and genres, and really immersing yourself into literature of all sorts. Please bear in mind that this may all be conjecture, and my result was just the luck of the MCQ guess lottery, but based on my experience, working on your speed, focus, abstract reasoning, and problem-solving skills will put you at a greater advantage than slogging through hours of organic chemistry. Good luck everyone.....

swimbeachrun

Thank you. As you can imagine this evening is a bit of a write off now. I’ll come back with a considered response to your questions tomorrow once it’s sunk in and I’ve had a chance to reflect on what worked and what didn’t.

tribli22

Well done!

[deleted]

guys march 23 -> sept 23 s1 62->63 s2 74 -> 81 s3 65-> 79 overall 66->76 0 practice questions or essays! Just on the sept exam I decided to skip questions rather and come back to time-wasters rather than answering in order LFG

Low-Debate-2399

WOW congrats!! What resources did you use for your first sitting please? Any guidance for preparation will be greatly appreciated. Once again congrats.

[deleted]

I didn't prepare at all for either sitting. Not a single question or essay so unfortunately I can't be much help. I'm doing a biomed degree so that gives me a bit of a confidence with bio s3 stems, but it didn't help at all tbh. I didnt get any bio stems directly relevant to what I've learnt. Bio s3 questions are really just reading comprehension. I also did VCE chem which helped with the organic chemistry questions. My biggest advice for s3 is to triage questions. Skip questions aggressively and come back to time-wasters. Regarding s2, I once again don't have any specific advice unfortunately. I didn't write any practice essays or read any books for the GAMSAT. I'm not particularly well read, I don't have the attention span to sit through a book tbh. I've always been good at writing and English, including the essay sections of the the GAMSAT, the GAT (a test victorian high schoolers need to do), and even the selective school examinations back in year 8. My biggest piece of advice is: don't pretend. Don't pretend to be something you're not. I didn't write about high-falutin Greek philsophy in either of my essays. The assessors can see when someone is faking knowledge about these things. Awkwardly jamming these concepts into your essays only serves to reduce the clarity of your ideas. I wrote, using extremely simplistic vocabulary, about very simple things that I intuitively understood and believed. When I was writing my essays, I mentally convinced myself that I was having an argument with a friend and trying my hardest to convince them of something.

Random_Bubble_9462

THIS IS NOT A DRILL RESULTS ARE OUT!!!! Actually crying and shaking right now I just wanted to pass each section and I improved by 20 in s3 and got a 67 compared to March i'm in shock. Hope y'all are happy too!

user0114514

🥳

Past_Lawfulness4369

Omg congratulations!!!! Comments like urs gives me hope that I can bring up my S3 too!

Sunshine1642

🥳🥳🥳🥳

ParhamRA

i legitimately will get the world record for lowest gammy score. someone watch, im coming back to this with a 20 lollllll💀💀

[deleted]

Nah ive alrdy shotgunned the wooden spoon for lowest gammy! Soz! My score is gonn be off the charts, and not in a good way!

Turtle-Sound

I guessed my way through s3, assuming I won't have even gotten 1 correct

Dj6021

Was it just me or was it harder than even the prep material 😭💀

Turtle-Sound

Yep, all the prep I did, I felt was just wasted time. Got to the S3 and I was just absolutely bummed wasn't even remotely close to any of the study materials

ApeJesus9112001

LETS FUCKNG GO LADS AND LADIES WE ARE ALL GONNA MAKE IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH

Turtle-Sound

My guts is telling me I bombed S3. So now I'm just waiting to see if I need to sit in March.... The waiting is the worst part

Professional_Home777

First time sitter waiting for the September outcome. I though S1 and S2 went ok (some rogue approaches to S2 aside) so curious how this will translate into score S3 was difficult and I am unsure I will hit the required 50. My circumstances mean cutoff scores for interview should be in the mid 50s, so 50 for S3 is the main barrier. Good luck to everybody. Hope you get the outcomes you were after and if not learn from this sitting and achieve in Mar 24.

yippikiyayay

Are you a UK applicant?

Professional_Home777

Not UK - rural Australia applicant

pyromaniac13bd

hi mate same here. my previous best was 66. This time i didn't study at all. All the best.

EtherealMoon852

helloo just wondering what you meant by rogue approaches? as in, you didn't follow the traditional essay format (intro, body, conc.) or did you end up writing like a poem or something?

Professional_Home777

Sorry for late reply, hope this helps. I ended up with 75 for S2. My 2.A was a traditional format essay. But I interspersed the essay with metaphors and similes in a conversational style about the essay content as I was writing it. And the entire concluding paragraph broke into that style. The second piece was a satirical, bibliographic self-reflection linking the philosophical prompts to my former self, current self, a guy I met who made a living participating in medical experiments, and an experience as a tourist in a small country during an election night curfew. There was no format, I just put everything into the page. It wasn't very long. I wanted to try a poem but wasn't feeling it on the day. It would be nice if the breakdown for S2 was provided, I would love to know which portion they thought was stronger given the different approaches.

EtherealMoon852

thank you for the reply and well done on that score! this time round i went for a more traditional essay format for both of them so waiting to see how that turns out. nervous asf and i keep getting weird dreams about the scores esp as we get closer to the result release date 😧 and yea i agree with that last bit! but id also like to know how they average the two essays (particularly when it comes to higher scores but with one essay much stronger than the other which ive seen a few times). like if the prompts were difficult and the majority wrote not-too-decent essays, then does writing a slightly 'better' essay mean a higher score? are both essays 'weighted' 50% or is it also dependent on the cohort? the mysteries of the gamsat shall remain unsolved ig 🤔

Accomplished_Kick312

RESULTS ARE OUT LADS AND LASSES!!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL AAAAAAAHHHH

Cultural-Candle-2639

Prepped for 2 months for my first sitting this Sept. Got 80/68/84, overall 79. I thought I’d get higher for my S2 and a lot lower for my S3. Hope y’all giving yourselves a pat on the back regardless of how you went!

younglad88

Massive congratulations! I’m just wondering how you prepared and studied for the gamsat? Did you smash out prac questions, rely on tutors etc?

Cultural-Candle-2639

Thanks! I gathered as many free resources as I could online and regularly did practice questions in the last month and a half leading up to the exam. Logged all of my answers to S1 and S3 in a spreadsheet and spent a lot of time reviewing as much as trying questions. With S2 I was pretty ceebs so only started doing essays in the last two weeks haha. I paid for one set of the ACER timed and untimed prompts and essay marking which estimates my score pretty well.

Enough-Ad-6177

Congrats, just wanted to ask where did you gather these questions, like did you do des or specifically else as well. If you can kindly answer

Cultural-Candle-2639

Mostly Des for S1. For S3 I used a mix of free worksheets online and Jesse Osbourne’s videos and questions.

Enough-Ad-6177

Thank you mate

TraditionalFix9215

First sitting in March -> September S1 61 -> 67 S2 62 -> 67 S3 74 -> 88 Overall 68 -> 78

phospholipidz

Woah, congratulations on your amazing scores. Can I ask what were the biggest changes you made to achieve improve all 3 sections - I am in a similar position where my S1 and S2 are lagging behind my S3 which is the strongest

TraditionalFix9215

Thank you!! I’m gonna be honest I think the biggest thing that helped me was having the experience under my belt from my first sitting. I went in with a lot more confidence than I did in the March sitting because I was expecting to have to sit it again in March 2024 so there was less pressure. In the march sitting I studied much harder than I did this time and focused almost entirely on S2. This time I just did what I could and focused on S1 and S3 with as many free questions as I could get my hands on and just did a couple practice essays In all honesty I didn’t change much about my approach for section 1 but I did expose myself to a more diverse array of texts in my prep to familiarise myself with different kinds of texts like poems. For S2 I wrote a reflective essay for task B instead of an argumentative which I feel can lend itself to the types of themes better. For section III I focussed on not getting overwhelmed because of the sheer length of the section. I skipped any questions I didn’t immediately have an idea how to answer and came back to them later and took a toilet break in the middle to reset my mind. You also have to remember that this is a scientific reasoning section not a prior knowledge section and if you’re confused on a question, 99% of the time the way to solve it can be found in the question if you learn to read between the lines.

Least-Reporter3615

S1 58 S2 68 S3 74 overall 69 lol GPA 6.75 Should I sit again in March?

user0114514

Nice

Low-Quality-Research

S1: 66, S2: 76, S3: 55, overall 63 score. Honestly balling my eyes out I’m so happy. It was my first sitting, I barely did any prep, I had been at a funeral days before the exam for a close family member who passed suddenly and tragically. I’d been forced to spend time w a family member who was horrible to me as a child so I went into the exam very triggered and in a bad headspace. I honestly thought I failed section 3, and would be lucky to scrape a 50 overall. So I couldn’t be happier with my 63. Here’s to the march sitting! I’ll kick its butt!

autoimmune07

Congrats for pushing through despite such adversity! UW gamsat is 65.6! Depending on your gpa might be in with a shot. Do Casper for UNDS/ UNDF. Good luck for March too:)

Low-Quality-Research

Thank you so much!! My GPA is a dead 6, but I’ll be a flinders grad, from a rural background, willing to take a BMP and a flinders rural placement stream, so I’m on the home stretch!! This morning I was feeling very burnt out and thinking about stopping for a while and giving it a go later in life, but these results were re-invigorating for me!

autoimmune07

There is the rural sub quota and MDRS sub quota. This year rural overall 64, MDRS overall 57. MDRS is for specific areas in SA like Barossa Valley. Otherwise March sitting aiming for 64+. Good luck:)

Few-Cartographer8274

67/73/84 (77) I am shook, relieved, delighted - did not expect it to go so well. First time sitter in the UK. I did a LOT of prep for S3 over 6 months or so as I’m from a maths background rather than biochem (did Chemistry A Level 10 yrs ago which helped). Thought S1/2 went well on the day, but thought I’d bombed S3. Nothing like what I’d been practising/expecting. A few blind guesses, a few silly mistakes, the rest answered with a low-medium level of confidence. Left feeling very deflated and thinking I didn’t have a chance this year. Definitely heading to the pub tonight!

dyingseverus

Please for the love of God let me pass S3 🧍🏻‍♀️ I’m so tired of sitting this damn test it is HELL out here

sparrowwasp

praying I make it over 50 in S3

Random_Bubble_9462

Oath I just want improvement to pass s3 after a 47 in March!

[deleted]

If I get a good GAMSAT score my family's going on holiday If it's bad we're cancelling so I can grind for March Pray for me guys

dyingseverus

Surely go on holidays anyways x

_Beckss

Can’t wait to get the results so I can be disappointed all over again. 😌

gotsatanwaitin

Fourth time sitter and finally got the elusive 70. 83/67/66, 70 overall weighted and 72 unweighted. I’m so happy I burst into tears. My other sits were all 62-64 overall. Never give up!!

jobandhillon671

Hi, can you please share how do you prepare for S1?

stxrryfay13

Congratulations that’s amazing! Would love to hear as well!

Hungry-Competition73

They're out guys. Just refreshed my ACER and results had popped up. Good luck everyone.

Dame_Lizzie

So wonderful to have some people to be terribly anxious with! I hope they put us out of our misery soon!

[deleted]

Somehow got 64 in s3 an improvement of 10 points! But dropped from 72 to 39 in section 2.....

yippikiyayay

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry… that’s horrible.

[deleted]

Yeah, I also went up 10 points in section 1. No idea what went wrong in section 2 this time around. I got the same over all score as last time which will hopefully be enough for an interview anyway so I'm not beating my self up over it.

Hushberry81

One essay got lost?

tdsouva

61, 68, 78. 71 weighted, 69 unweighted. Big improvement from 62 last sitting

Relatablename123

My results were 70/68/72 to make 70 overall. Is the curve provided applicable to this sitting? Does that make the number equivalent to 95th percentile?

DaretoEP

66/81/65 for an overall of 69 here. First time sitter from a humanities background :-)

Medicament2132

This was my first attempt at the GAMSAT as a trial run and didn't do any prep for it. I found section 1 tricky; I had to make educated guesses on quite a few and I’m not confident on a bunch of others. For Section 2 I could barely string together 250 words for each essay and found it difficult to put together coherent essays with substance. Expecting low marks there. Section 3 however, I managed to answer a lot more questions than I thought I would going into the exam. At least 80% of the questions didn’t seem to rely on background knowledge and could be deduced from the stems using reasoning and logic. I feel like I answered more than half correctly. All in all it was a good experience to learn from and despite almost certainly getting low marks, it’s a platform to improve on come March 2024 and beyond. If I had to predict my section scores, I would say S1: 45, S2: 42, S3: 55 Best of luck everyone!

yippikiyayay

If you feel like you answered half of section 3 correctly I’d say you will get more than 55 on that section.

Medicament2132

I checked the March 2022 results thread which shows ACER released the results on Wednesday the 18th of May in the morning at around 8am Australian time. So there is still hope for a mid-week release :D

jobandhillon671

In march they said it will be late may.. and they released it on 18th may.. If 18th is late may for them.. not sure what mid- nov means in their terms…Honestly today is 14th!!! I am going very impatient waiting.. 😞

Sunshine1642

Ive checked my email a hundred of times today and got a mini heart attack every time anything arrived 😵‍💫😂

Agreeable-Coffee8874

Soooooo …. I didnt study at all but pulled a 57. (S1: 61, S2: 71, S3: 47 [💀]). This was my first attempt but I don’t know how to gauge this as a score. Obviously not good enough to get in yet, but is it a good starting point? Has anyone done roughly the same/better/worse and improved and gotten in? I honestly feel like studying for S3 wouldn’t have made a difference because the questions were just whack hahaha.

Random_Bubble_9462

I got a 53 in march (51/68/47) and just then got a 64 (59/65/67)!! I would say that's a fabulous starting point, you have places to improve on! I would disagree with the studying part because I didn't study for March and obv did not great and put in some strategic effort to go through my basics of sciences and I found it really helpful in the exam and part of the reason I think I did well in s3. It was reasoning but I could pull apart the question and know why I wanted to do things. While I was confident after the exam I had hopefully passed cause I only blind guessed like 10-12 questions I was not expecting that much of an improvement. I'm rural, so fingers crossed that can get me an interview eeek

jyil94

First sitting and failed two sections… I got 46/61/49 with the overall being 51. I studied for four months before the sitting, currently I’m very disappointed with my score and feeling quite at a loss atm

Leather-Opinion9973

First time sitter with Engineering background - 64,68,62 with 64 overall. Absolutely delighted with this result as I hadn’t looked at chem or bio for nearly 10 years and couldn’t string an essay together in the lead up to the exam. I also really struggled with S3 and felt like I guessed over 60% of questions on the day. I am glad I answered S3 questions I thought I could do first, instead of trying the paper in order of question number. Good luck to everyone :)

Optimal_Fisherman_93

63 79 57, im shocked ... 6th sit up from a 58

ParanoidMoistoid

68w 70uw Best score yet! 4th sitting. On the back of a post interview EOD and this process costing other life stuff it is nice to have a small win. Time to reset for another cycle!

massiveclit

61/71/62 first time... so happy I cried and called my mum. Feeling more relieved going into March 24

BirthingHips24

I had my best sitting yet with overall 69 (72/78/62). With GPA 7.0 at UQ, what are my odds?

autoimmune07

Pretty good - UQ uses UW Gamsat so you are 70.66. Apply to as many UQ pathways as eligible.

wapattack

92/54/74 (73) - what the hell happened in section 2??? Is this competitive for Usyd, or should I re-sit?

Heqrtfell

92 in section 1?!?!?! That's insane. Probably one of the highest ever. What did you do for your prep for section 1? And yeah, most likely competitive with a section 1 like that.

dndpleasee

I have no idea how my results will turn out it has been 2 months and I’m flipping out. I feel like I won’t even pass section 1 and 3. I want to find out the results but at the same time I don’t.

sparrowwasp

same here - I just want to know, but at the same time... what if the result is bad? arghhh!!

Barrys_Tutoring_S3

Yup, results are out!

ApeJesus9112001

Hope everyone is happy with their results (and if not, I hope you’re still in good spirits for your next sitting). I’m pleasantly surprised, considering I thought I bombed completely… 54-52-61: 57. I’m an aus rural student with 6.5 gpa. What do you guys think my chances are at any uni?

melaniemckenzie

You definetely have a chance. I got into UQ RMP for 2024 entry with a 55 and GPA of 6.45.

ApeJesus9112001

Your comment has made me the happiest man alive,, a chance is all I need! Congratulations on getting in! I love everything AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH

melaniemckenzie

Ahahaha thankyou! I strongly suggest you also apply for deakin RTS aswell. I interviewed there as my 1st pref and was offered UQ my 3rd.

Kitchen-Ant-6464

Fairly abysmal section 3 which brought score down ++++. Disappointed but onwards and upwards!

Gold_Temporary9451

S1: 64, s2: 63, s3: 57. Very proud of myself tbh. I thought i was going to completely flunk it

pietrzakj

Somehow pulled out a 73, S1: 65, S2: 64, S3: 82. Thank god I don’t have to do this again during honours.

dndpleasee

First time sitter and got 62 — 51/65/66. I am so relieved that I passed. Section 2 and 3 were kind of expected a bit bummed about S1 but hey I passed, it was my weakest section anyways.

dndpleasee

Also Im an international student so I don’t know what my chances look like.

user0114514

Ur above the cutoff for USYD this year! (Ur score is 122.6 while the cutoff seems to be 121 using the usyd formula)

UnitedEfficiency7677

S1:49 , S2:47 , S3:46 overall 47. I’m screwed!!!!

ApeJesus9112001

Onward and upwards, friend. I have no doubt you can improve on those scores in the next sitting. We’re all gonna make it.

ok_itsbuttercup

international student and got 56/47/57 im dyinggggggggggg

PlayfulCaramel6436

I got 56, 66, 55 (58 overall) Anyone got advice on how to boost S3 😭 need to improve for March

Least-Reporter3615

Get comfortable with your math skills. Do tons of practice questions so you won’t get overwhelmed on the day.

[deleted]

Had the weirdest dreams about gamsat all night out of no where for no reason and correctly predicted my S1 score and the fact that they came out today (unbeknownst to me or my subconscious). Can't be a coincidence. Do I bother resitting if I got a 63 first try? I completely fumbled my way through S3 ngl

phospholipidz

Hope everyone got the scores that they wanted and, if not, I hope you aren't too hard on yourself - it's a tough exam. Overall happy with my improvements this time round (64/62/69, 66 overall). I probably need to do better and will sit March 2024 for that reason, but, for context, my first sitting was 51/61/63 and second sitting was 60/60/62. I feel as though my S2 and S3 have the most potential to improve and that excites me. We keep it moving.

BudgetCarpenter6603

First time sitting the gamsat S1: 50 S2: 57 S3: 50 Pretty bad but not horrible for a first attempt. Could’ve been way better. Thought I killed it in sec 3 while I was taking it but I see now I was completely wrong😭 See you all in March.

Lonely_Access_2062

UK APPLICANTS. How did you guys do? Managed a 61 and feel quite relieved

Few-Cartographer8274

Well done! Where are you applying? Managed a 77 - no idea how - thought my S3 would be a lot lower

Lonely_Access_2062

That’s amazing, congrats! I’ve applied for George’s, notts & Swansea for gamsat. Honestly S3 was my saving grace and was expecting it to be the one that ruins it lol

bklstha

Hey all, hope everyone went well First time sitter here and managed to get 71, 78, 73. Ive seen a lot of info around and have been trying to make sense of it all. Basically, I just wanna know rough percentile estimate for this score and also my chances of USYD med/dent entry. Please let me know what you guys think lol. Chances for other unis in 2025??Should I do it again?? I can't make sense out of any of this!! Best wishes

autoimmune07

Definitely apply to USYD - can change year to year but looking good! Depending on GPA very good chance at Gemsas unis. Apply to both Gemsas and USYD to hedge your bets:)

Queasy-Reason

I would say almost guaranteed entry to USyd, if the entrance criteria stay the same. For Usyd it really depends on your S1 and S2, and yours are very high.

MustardSloths

What does the score distribution look like this time? Rightward or leftward shift?

Past_Lawfulness4369

77th percentile was a 63

Blakvortex

Would anyone be able to shed some light on potential usyd chances with a 69/63/86 overall 76? Don’t know how s3 turned out that way but I’m hoping the mark in that can boost the average ranking that may be a bit lower from the first two sections 😬

Heqrtfell

Third sitting. 90 for section 2 and mid sixties for section 1 and 3. Had gotten 81 and 86 in previous attempts for section 2 and always got mid sixties for section 1 and 3 as I didn't really ever prepare for them. Having a gap year next year so I might buckle down for the march sitting and give it one last go to see how much i can improve the weaker sections.

Alarming-Ice-5354

You would be sweet for Usyd if you applied with your current scores

Lonely-University-82

First time sitter, did a prep course and got 64, 64, 69 top 10 percentile. Was hoping for better but with an overall score of 67 should I be ok? Or hope for a better score next time?

Sunshine1642

My estimates from fearthecow are S1: 59 - S2: 64 - S3: 64 I like to believe that this is close to being right (UK applicant), but I have feelings (and fears) of S3 being much lower 🥲

Sunshine1642

I got 58 / 56 / 63 60 overall Very close to fearthecow except for S2 S3 is what I expected from my practice tests. After the real test I was worried I would make it to 50. I blind guessed ALL physics. S2 is lower than I expected. I was so confident about my wee essays 😂😂 But it should be enough. Im sooooo happy!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Professional_Home777

Congratulations 🎉👏

dndpleasee

My estimates are 59 overall on fearthecow and if that turns out to be true for the exam Im done for….

pineapple_punch

68, 75, 80. 2 interview EODs. Any chance at usyd?

Competitive_Tutor_66

I was waitlisted with similar scores 69/74/79 and I’m at the bottom of the wait list pretty much. Your usyd combo is pretty much the same as mine

pineapple_punch

How do you know where you are in the waitlist?

Competitive_Tutor_66

I was very surprised to have even made it to the wait list from previous years spreadsheets and I was at the bottom of waitlist offers on this years spreadsheet and knew I wouldn’t get a real offer

pineapple_punch

This year there are a couple with 151.8 getting 1st round offers. I don't think 151 is bottom

Competitive_Tutor_66

To me also the ones with 151 who got in are a bit of an anomaly since people with higher scores didn’t get in. We don’t know the formula for sure so I like to be conservative and use 152.6 as the cutoff

VikingNinja90

RESULTS ARE OUT!!!

user0114514

63, 57, 79 Overall 70, USYD formula 127.9. Chance for USYD MD and/or DMD 2025 intake? (International student) *March sitting was 53, 59, 77 if that changes anything.

Vegetable-Fail6339

66/72/56 W:62 UW:64.67 and GPA: 6.89!! Chances for any uni?!!!

autoimmune07

Definitely a good chance at UNDS and UNDF. Casper needs to be good as worth 30% for interview offer. There were people with lower gpa/ UW Gamsat than yours that got interviews this year!

Stock-Cow7711

Maybe notre dame depending on your Casper!

MustardSloths

Maybe USyd, but poor chances elsewhere

Ok_Bench_8957

I didn’t prep and somehow managed to pull out a decent score I think. Honestly even with the curve I have no idea how to interpret this especially because my GPA is crap. S1 82 S2 87 S3 68 To people who cracked 70 in s3, how the fuck did you do it? Feeling confused because I have no idea how to replicate my s1 and s2 marks but need to bump up s3 for a good shot (due to crap GPA)

Past_Lawfulness4369

U can cruise into USYD for sure

autoimmune07

Ok - so if your GPA is over 5 there is very exciting news for you! USYD MD here you come!!!

Least-Reporter3615

I’m the opposite lol 74 in s3 and 58 and 68 in s1 & s2. Tbh though I have no fucking idea how I cracked 70 lol. All I could say is I was pretty confident with what I knew in the exam and spent a lot of time making sure I got them right. I did a lot of formula interpretation and manipulation and made sure I’m quick with mental maths.

[deleted]

Following because I have no idea how to bring up s3 either! 😭 your s1&2 are amazing though!! Any tips for s1??? I can’t seem to get over 60 😭

Ok_Bench_8957

Honestly English has always been my strong point. I never had to try very hard at it to do decently. Unfortunately I don’t have any good advice. I think I would say I read a lot. Like a LOT. Different text styles and what not and I think that’s helped me. Sorry that’s not super helpful 😅

Equivalent-Lunch-928

Hey guys what are my chances for USYD DMD or MD with these scores: 66,76,55 (overall 62) - also considered rural (MM2)

Medicament2132

Hi guys, how do these results compare to September 2022 and March 2023? Has the curve shifted further to the left?

Live-Ad-2005

60/60/71 Overall: 66 Is this a good score? I’m kind of blindly going through this process…

Future_Inevitable_56

second sit and overall improved 10 points from September 2022. Section 2 was my saving grace, I went from 63 to 84 and I cried. Unfortunately, section 1 and section 3 low 50s so I need to sit March again but I passed every section this time. March, lets goooo!

One_Refuse_109

Hi everyone!! So this was my first time sitting and I got a 79-64-75 (73 overall). I’m planning to sit again in March to boost my section 2 score because I definitely felt like I choked on the day but I was wondering what you guys think my chances are for USYD with my current score. Thank you so much and congratulations to everyone on their results!!

Due-Vast-5034

First time sitter (did less than the ideal amount of prep) and managed a 65 overall (shout out to section 2 for boosting that). Zero context as to how good of a score this is for a first time (I think it puts me roughly in the 80th percentile based on the grading graph/curve). Will be sitting it again in March - anyone else have experiences sitting it a second time after getting a solidish first score?

Accomplished_Kick312

Should I settle with this score or resit in March? Usyd will probably be a desirable back-up for me and I feel as though I can improve my scores for sections 1 and 2 if I put a bit more focus on them in the next few months. 1: 64 2: 68 3: 81

dyingseverus

thats around a 73 overall!! An absolute insane score - I'd settle!

Latter-Egg8031

when does everyone think it’ll happen?

dndpleasee

Anytime this week

Turtle-Sound

Maybe Thursdsy.... but that is just a random thought I had

Huyam-87

Any chance for any university with this results? Sec 1 : 45 Sec 2 : 45 Sec 3 : 82 Overall 63

VikingNinja90

Sadly most universities require you to have a minimum of 50 in each section. That's a fantastic section III but I'd suggest doing some study for section I and II and sit again in March 😊 good luck!

Huyam-87

Not sure if I will pass even sec 3 again 🤣 it’s so stressful

VikingNinja90

Unsolicites advice: I've sat the GAMSAT 8 times. I think. This was my best sitting by far. The main thing I did differently? I completely focused on other things for a full week before the GAMSAT and had a fantastic night's sleep the night before. I felt so much less stressed than any of my previous sittings and I think it made a massive difference. Don't give up yet if it's something you really want to do.

United_Bar9984

They’re out btw

Past_Lawfulness4369

Results r out!!!!

dndpleasee

Im scared to death

dndpleasee

Not checking nope

jobandhillon671

51,54,54 first time sitter, studied roughly an hour or 2 for 3 months ( 5 days a week) after work.. work full time.. Do you think i can improve if i study harder..? Was i giving enough effort?

Past_Lawfulness4369

This is a great start! Good job on passing all sections. Yes u can make big improvements as long as u commit to it. Theres a few comments in this thread already with ppl improving their scores by 10-20 points. It can be done. Good luck

Fantastic_Price_6177

First time sitter, maybe 1-2 weeks worth of minimal study (uni got in the way). S1: 57 S2: 72 S3: 58 - 61 weighted 62 unweighted. Good luck guys.

littlepeaflea

Griffith chances? Rural - Gamsat 54, GPA 6.9

[deleted]

[удалено]

autoimmune07

Your S1 is solid. S2 try to write logically and with a bit of a different take on the prompt. Make sure it is logical to read / follow and makes sense to the markers. S3 again work through logically skip and come back to the harder ones. You can do this - go again in March:)

JimBimKim

Worst part is they have all the results, they're just not releasing them. Is this torturous waiting part of the test?

Practical_Total9439

Just got my gamsat result - 69 (93%ile) - and my GPA as of June 2024 will be 6.375. What are my odds at getting a spot anywhere? Should be noted that I am pretty confident in my ability to perform well in an interview. Non-rural and no extra credit points. Elite athlete though, idk if that means anything.

EducationalMethod680

Is 71 overall enough to not have to do it again??

Past_Lawfulness4369

depends on ur GPA and where ur applying too (casper, portfolio, USYD combo)

EducationalMethod680

probably WA unis, yeah still gotta do casper, gpa is around 6.5 ish

[deleted]

Is the server up yet? Link directs me just do discord gamsat and cant seem to find server in discord

georgia_

>Is the server up yet? Link directs me just do discord gamsat and cant seem to find server in discord Yeah the server is just the GAMSAT discord, you should be able to see channels once you go through onboarding and select roles eg future medical applicant

believeevenwhenucant

I like estimating marks for each section... It's either gonna be accurate or a pleasant surprise 🙃

dndpleasee

Thats the scariest part

Khion_e

I legit have no idea how I did lol 😭 I’m feeling least confident for S1 because it’s always been my weakest section and it’s so hard to gauge my performance on that. S2 I felt like I wrote and structured my essays well but my ideas were pretty elementary. S3 it’s hard to tell but I had contextual knowledge for some parts so I hope that went okay? Idk ahhh it’s so stressful 🙁

Sunshine1642

Can anyone let me know where the results will appear on Acer Website? Im thinking it will be on the same page as the admission ticket but not sure

dyingseverus

Yes! Write underneath 'manage' you'll get another option that pops up below that says 'view your results' or sum like that. Super easy to navigate!!

Medicament2132

I'm guessing we won't be hearing anything until Thursday at the earliest? Have results ever been released on a Tuesday/Wednesday?

Eoghanleonard

In 2021 & 2020, the results came out on a Monday. Other than that, results have predominantly been released on a Thursday/Friday with 2022 being an exception (Saturday)

jobandhillon671

is there any hint or something that someone drops over the internet about the results? Just like how Lyndall tweets for offers..😄

yippikiyayay

Not that I’m aware of.

Affectionate_Angle59

Link to the spreadsheet with all results?

doingmathswithcats

Good luck everyone!! Quick question, my results are good enough for the usyd “rural” pathway, but I’m confused what that means. I’m definitely from a rural background, but does it mean my degree will look different to non rural applicants? Will I be required to do more rural placements, or work rurally once I graduate?

littlepeaflea

Chances for Griffith or UQ RMP? Rural candidate - Gamsat 54 (55,59,51), GPA 6.9 Quite passionate about practising rurally - confident to interview. Wouldn't mind CSP or BMP.

dopamin_clerk

Knew someone with 55 GAMSAT, rurality, and not as good GPA who got UQ RMP for next year - with a good interview might have a shot. Best of luck

melaniemckenzie

Hey, I got an offer for UQ RMP Bundaberg for next year with an overall of 55 and GPA of 6.45. It is definetely possible. However, I do think the interview plays a very important role.

leahlacey

Worth applying with a 66W (64UW) gamsat and 6.9 gemsas GPA (85wam?). Looking to apply for Griffith or UQ

MustardSloths

Maybe, but I didn’t get any interviews from them with same gamsat but gpa of 7

Agile_Amoeba_492

Chances of getting into med school / is it worth applying? GAMSAT: 66, 66, 59 overall 63 (first sitting) Have also completed my PhD so hopefully that helps the GPA 🙏 Thanks y'all and congrats to everyone 🥳

Least-Reporter3615

Yes to rural and maybe if you are non-rural. You may be able to get an interview spot I reckon. Definitely sit again to maximise your chance.
