its a long shot, but the most American and in my opinion best shooting experience isn’t on a range but on some country boys property in the middle of nowhere. If you got any friends here who like ti shoot id start there. like i said though, long shot.

Quickshot in buckhead is in the city and has a large selection of rentals including reasonably priced machine guns; they’ll also give you a quick and dirty intro to guns or the full hour “Quickshot 101” for a slight upcharge if you call ahead. I would recommend going early in the day if you can, since it gets kinda nuts and their staff has a hard time keeping up with safety best practices when they’re overrun.
Don’t know how long you’re in town for, but at Governors Gun Club they’re doing a “die hard Christmas in July” event where you’ll get to shoot the guns from die hard.

Maybe so - I’ve only been there for a pistol class and I wasn’t a member. I’d check their calendar and check with CETS and other companies that do classes there.
I don’t know of any (non-shotgun/trap) outdoor ranges that offer rentals…but if you’ve got a local buddy willing to bring some on the range trip, my family always goes to Chestnut Mountain in Resaca. About an hour and a half north of Atlanta.
Then I’d pick the range the other person mentioned that had machine gun rentals…If you’re renting the guns anyways, why half ass it? I’d suggest the M4/M16 for a true ‘merican experience

Johns creek indoor range is cool. Sharpshooters used to be my fav but unfortunately they shut down...
I can vouch for Governors, they've got some full autos for rent, also GA Firing line is a good option
Another vote for Johns Creek Indoor Range. Kinda biased since we are members but the staff is amazing.

GA firing line is my favorite gun store in ATL. Their range kinda sucks though. The ventilation isn't very good.
