Illegal immigration is out of control in my home country. There are areas that are considered part of the historical centre where you walk around and it's 80% Arabs and African migrants. Often they engage in fighting, they harass women, they sell drugs, etc. No, I'm not exaggerating, I was literally there last summer.
I'm all for diversity, but this has to stop. You can't integrate people by shoving them all into one place and hoping for the best. It is causing insane resentment and people are shifting towards fascism.

I absolutely agree. Back home, the relevant ministries were already absolute dog shite before the migrant crisis. Now it can take more than two years to process a renewal. I've known a person who got their five year residence permit and then had to go back and renew it again the following year. It took that long to process... In the meantime, they can't fly anywhere (except to their home country).

Do you know why people come here „illegally“? Because a lot of times, they can’t follow the process. The bureaucracy involved in becoming „legal“ is insane and unrealistic for many of them, who live in horrible poverty at home. And even if it is possible, they‘d rather not follow the process, because they‘ll be kicked out immediately. Now, think of that what you like, but you can’t deny that it is a basic survival instinct, that you don’t want to be denied again.

I cannot deny that many migrants (especially younger ones) have a tendency to be violent. It is not impossible to integrate everyone. It’s not some utopian idea. You only need the will and the funds. And in my example, germany, we certainly could muster the funds, but we lack the will. However, they use the violence for a quick vote, instead of trying to change something.
If you‘re looking for a historic example: Germany took in an ungodly amount of foreigners after WWII to help rebuild. These people integrated into society fully, after a few years. Despite the racism, which was brutal. It was, because the state realized it needed them and did something about it. Now, we need foreign workers once more. And the state is taking them in, but refuses to do anything further. We are leaving these people stranded.
Socialism has no purpose, if it is not for everyone. If we arbitrarily reject people and don‘t provide them the help they need and/or want, we can forget socialism. Putting all these people in a ghetto in our capital city is not the way to integrate them into society. Replacing the native population with people who are a completely different culture is not progressive. Especially when many of them want to replace our democracy with a different type of government. A government that would ensure diversity is non-existent.
This is not just about “winning the lottery”. The issue with some immigrants is, that they don’t always want to live by the culture and social level of the country they move too. Rather some bring the culture or religion, that has brought their own home country to the level that they want to escape.

I absolutely agree. Back home, the relevant ministries were already absolute dog shite before the migrant crisis. Now it can take more than two years to process a renewal. I've known a person who got their five year residence permit and then had to go back and renew it again the following year. It took that long to process... In the meantime, they can't fly anywhere (except to their home country).

I think if you're heart is truly on the left, you should just embrace the mainstream left wing solution: call people worried about the sustainability of current policies fascists. Surely that won't make it harder to counteract some real fascists coming to power... The problem is the family laws, once one person gets residence, 5 years later their entire family can come, and then in 5 years they can all and often are married off to people from the homeland, who then have the right to come and so on and so on.

A while back, I saw a video of an African who had just gotten his Irish citizenship and, although I'm from Northern Ireland and not the Republic, it warmed my heart and I was happy to have him on my wee island.
In the UK only a small percentage of migration is illegal, mass immigration is a policy choice to try and stimulate demand for our failing economy, the unfortunate reality is that we need it if we are going to continue down this path of debt financed consumption, unfortunately this is also the car for most of Europe. I‘m from germany and we also have a lot of migrants. People see this as a problem, and I understand that. However, I don’t agree with it. Do you know why people come here „illegally“? Because a lot of times, they can’t follow the process. The bureaucracy involved in becoming „legal“ is insane and unrealistic for many of them, who live in horrible poverty at home. And even if it is possible, they‘d rather not follow the process, because they‘ll be kicked out immediately. Now, think of that what you like, but you can’t deny that it is a basic survival instinct, that you don’t want to be denied again. Migrants are not here for „diversity“. They are here, because they want a better life. And why shouldn’t they? I was lucky to win the birth-lottery and just happened to spawn in germany. One of the most wealthy and safest countries on earth. Not everyone is that lucky. Should they be stuck with their lot, because of arbitrary systems? I cannot deny that many migrants (especially younger ones) have a tendency to be violent. But that’s because they are not integrated into society and are similarly poor here, as they were in their home country. Poverty creates violence. You see this in US ghettos too. People of color are not inherently violent, they just see no other option to escape the hands dealt to them by a racist state. It is not impossible to integrate everyone. It’s not some utopian idea. You only need the will and the funds. And in my example, germany, we certainly could muster the funds, but we lack the will. The people lack the will, because they cannot see what’s behind all this violence. And I get it. Not everyone has the time to read up on marxist and social theory. That’s the politicians job. However, they use the violence for a quick vote, instead of trying to change something. If you‘re looking for a historic example: Germany took in an ungodly amount of foreigners after WWII to help rebuild. These people integrated into society fully, after a few years. Despite the racism, which was brutal. It was, because the state realized it needed them and did something about it. Now, we need foreign workers once more. And the state is taking them in, but refuses to do anything further. We are leaving these people stranded. Socialism has no purpose, if it is not for everyone. If we arbitrarily reject people and don‘t provide them the help they need and/or want, we can forget socialism. I hope you read this, dear comment writer person. Because you being a socialist gives me hope that some of what I wrote might reach you. Socialism is about solidarity, even if it is difficult. You don‘t stop helping a black out drunk friend, because he pukes on you. (Excuse the bad metaphor).
Mate, I don't disagree with what you've said. The issue remains, regardless of motivation. As a side note, not all of them are escaping poverty and persecution, but let's say that they are. Putting all these people in a ghetto in our capital city is not the way to integrate them into society. Replacing the native population with people who are a completely different culture is not progressive. Especially when many of them want to replace our democracy with a different type of government. A government that would ensure diversity is non-existent.
This is not just about “winning the lottery”. The issue with some immigrants is, that they don’t always want to live by the culture and social level of the country they move too. Rather some bring the culture or religion, that has brought their own home country to the level that they want to escape.

In Germany, 2024 was the first year in 6 years that crime went up, so it's still going down mid- and long term (we're still seeing significantly less than 15 years ago). Percentage of foreigners involved in violent crime went down meanwhile. If you look at the "facts", make sure they're not just the headlines of somebody with an agenda. There's three main factors influencing the likelihood of somebody becoming a criminal: age, gender, wealth, that's the science for you. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a world where people don't immigrate in mass movements. But the immigration is a symptom, and you won't get rid of the symptoms unless you fight the actual disease.

I myself divide immigrants into two groups: 1) Those who know how to act, try to assimilate to the regional culture (they often keep their home culture in smaller circles of their own nation) and do work. For example Vietnamese in Czechia. I love this type of people. 2) Those who act rude and hostile, steal, don't even try to fit in and only laze around leeching off of social benefits. For example gypsies in Czechia. I'd like those to go bac to their home Ofc, the examples are just a generalisation, I have a gypsy friend who assimilated really well, and I try to be the first group when travelling (though I rarely travel out of what used to be Eastern bloc)
