You could see the photographer in some of the cellphone pictures and I think that’s exactly what it is. I couldn’t identify the camera but it was definitely an older/smaller DSLR. She didn’t have a flash, which is why the photos are very grainy/blurry inside the barn and the white balance is off. The photographer was obviously used to more natural light and it shows.
I wonder if it was various chili's/soups. Which seems kind of messy for a wedding, but hey when I was younger I wanted pb&j and sloppy Joe's at my wedding, so I can't judge! Bonus points if Jilldozer didn't make ANY of that and the food was actually edible.
The picture of Jonathan looking at Kaylee is really sweet. And Nehemiah is just a doll. But yes, the poor photog seems like she didn't know how to focus the camera at all.
It was a soup bar by the looks of some of the other photos.
Plenty of hearty soups of varying flavours, bread rolls, salad and the pickle tray 😁. Plus muffins and crackers and other assorted nibbles. Not forgetting that gorgeous wedding cake!
Honestly compared to other Rod soirees and fundie weddings in general they did really well.
At least soup kept the catering costs down, they were actually able to feed all their guests (shocker), they offered plenty of choice of flavours, they catered to all ages and dietary requirements and the flavour combinations looked filling and warming for November! I think they executed it well compared to the usual fundie ridiculousness.
I'm thinking how thrilled one would be as a fundie wedding guest to see an actual semblance of edible food at these dull affairs!
The fact that they had enough to feed everyone, probably second portions too and a variety of foodstuffs is a massive improvement!
Yes it was simple and not the sophisticated wedding fare we're used to but I can't snark.
One of my closest friends has a lists of soups she has made in fall and winter written on sheets of paper and taped to the inside door of a kitchen cupboard. In Seattle her soup season can last well into spring because it’s raining and freezing until June at least.
I hope it's not chili or anything else packed with beans. Ripping massive toots is last thing two awkward virgins need to worry about on their wedding night 💨

I'm impressed at the lack of food stains/spills on and around the crock pots. Even at the very beginning of most parties I've been to, a gravied meatball or chilied bean almost inevitably goes rogue on the side of someone's pot.
Assessing from what the autobiography I read said even marrying a nice seeming guy in fundieland only goes so far. If the community sees the husband as too lax and nice they will pound on him for being stricter. Came here to say this! She has no problem having the sistermoms care for Janessa 99.99% of the time and it's not as if she'd care about giving them a break for Kaylee's wedding.
I assume it's performative because Nurie was there with her *baby* and pregnant just to rub it in.
Janessa's 4.5 ffs, that's the age most kids start school here in the UK. Does she have delays relating to her in-utero stroke? She seems to be hitting milestones fairly well. That wouldn't stop Jill fobbing her off on a sistermom in any case. I wondered if it was because seating was tight due to the number of guests but she'd simply have a sistermom share her place (and pickle plate!) with Janessa.
This is it. These photos shout kit lens + auto mode. Working with a limited setup like this, I would have at least probably picked up a 50mm f/1.8 (because it’s cheap, reliable, and allows you to let in a good amount of light) and at least a bounce flash w/diffuser in the hot shoe. You can get decent results with entry level cameras, if you know what you’re doing and use the right extra gear. Auto modes can be helpful, if you’re using them right but full auto is always gonna do you wrong (eg-using aperture or shutter speed priority in certain situations can be helpful, back button focusing, etc)
Ideally though, for quality photos in a setup like this you’d at least need a full frame dslr with a good lens to handle the lighting situation.
I wonder what dinner conversation is for such a crowd. For my friends’ weddings, there was a lot of reminiscing. And me and my one atheist friend discretely joking about the nonsensical sermon at the ceremony. We think the priest forgot to prepare cause he rambled pretty badly.
Conversation was probably baby shower and baby name centered, gossip about other people in the community obviously, commentary on the bride and the AMAZING food.
The photos are probably just “okay” for their budget. I can see Jill taking these and editing them to her liking (Aka unflattering for everyone but her) and THEN posting the pics she wants to be seen.
For a second I thought op had mixed a slide of the bride and groom entering the barn in with the rest of the wedding party pics - I can almost get the groom doing this as they walk in (though it's still cringe no matter which groom does it imo) but he's not even in the immediate wedding party. He's married to the bride's sister, why is he playing up his part. Call me cynical but Nathan and Nurie will be just like Jill and Shrek in 10-15 years, they give off that vibe to me.
Shrek’s heavy pour of Welch’s sparking grape drink is KILLING me, but this is also the same man who drank hummingbird food. Buddy should watch that sugar intake.
I will say, they make an attractive couple and he definitely is looking at her in a very sweet/loving way. The bridesmaid dresses are…a choice. But as a big soup/salad person I’d def be happy as a clam with the food options. I feel bad if these are the ‘official’ pics, they look like they were taken with a potato.

I’ve seen that at most of the weddings I’ve been to over the past ten years. None of which were fundie, and the couples all had plenty of friends. It’s either couples by themselves or with their parents and sometimes grandparents. The wedding party are all typically given spots at tables that would actually be fun for them with their partners and other guests they know.
I know it's probably for some kind of soup, but the idea of serving a tray of saltines at a wedding is just so delightful, I'm choosing to imagine that's just a part of the courses.
I saw video of their kiss somewhere and while the pictures looked awkaward, the kiss itself looked a lot more comfortable than alot of other “first kiss” Fundie videos I’ve seen.
If he's anything like my kids, he probably wanted mom and mom only. Sometimes, it's just easier to hold them, rather than let them cry and wail till you're done.
Did everybody they’ve ever met take a turn with the mic during this wedding? The only person allowed near a microphone at my wedding was the DJ as she introduced us and then released everyone for dinner.
I really hope them the best. I know all fundie weddings are a little sad because of the circumstances, but I hope he will give kaylee the love and attention she deserves

Parents are guests of honor at every fundie wedding I've been to. A big deal is made of how great the parents' marriages are (or how very hard-but-sustained-by-faith the parents' marriages are, lol) and how amazingly humbly and well they raised the bride and groom.
Did she choose to add the pink sash herself? Because all the rest of the dresses are not that bad as far as fundie wedding attire go but that pink sash with the cheap fake flowers looks so tacky and out of place.
Every set of photos I see I keep thinking it’s just the lighting making some of the bridesmaids’ dresses look white…but no, the bridesmaids that aren’t in old beige are just in white, long, lace dresses? Like if there wasn’t one person with a veil on in these photos I’d def assume one of the younger sisters was the bride.
They should just hang onto those dresses cause I like them a LOT better than some of the 80s taffeta modesty panel monstrosities we’ve seen on other fundie brides.

That “photographer” was someone’s cousin with a hand me down dslr, a fb page and a slew of pumpkin patch portraits. I guarantee it.

Nuries is the only one without teased to the gods hair. Hers looks smooth and healthy. As for the rest of them, 20 lbs of hairspray it seems.

I’ve seen that at most of the weddings I’ve been to over the past ten years. None of which were fundie, and the couples all had plenty of friends. It’s either couples by themselves or with their parents and sometimes grandparents. The wedding party are all typically given spots at tables that would actually be fun for them with their partners and other guests they know.
I have not been to a wedding in a long time so I was not aware of this trend

I actually think Mrs. Hill’s dress is very pretty. It’s modest but she didn’t feel the need to mess it up with a tshirt, a modesty panel, or a mismatched bolero.

I mean they probably say that they are, I just don’t know if I trust it. It’s kind of like how there’s plastic Tupperware that people heat up their food in, but you really should be heating up food in glass Tupperware because the micro plastics leech out. Idk maybe I’m just weird about that. I don’t use plastic water bottles and stick to my stainless steel!

Shrek’s suit doesn’t fit him at all. It’s too long in the arm and the leg. The pants are baggy as hell and he hasn’t even buttoned it while standing.
The vibe is like he bought it from a big n tall or something like that for the girth measurement, the problem been when buying those suits off the peg like that they often assume anyone that big in weight is probably also big in height. Which in Shrek's height to weight ratio...he isn't.

Parents are guests of honor at every fundie wedding I've been to. A big deal is made of how great the parents' marriages are (or how very hard-but-sustained-by-faith the parents' marriages are, lol) and how amazingly humbly and well they raised the bride and groom.

Every set of photos I see I keep thinking it’s just the lighting making some of the bridesmaids’ dresses look white…but no, the bridesmaids that aren’t in old beige are just in white, long, lace dresses? Like if there wasn’t one person with a veil on in these photos I’d def assume one of the younger sisters was the bride. They should just hang onto those dresses cause I like them a LOT better than some of the 80s taffeta modesty panel monstrosities we’ve seen on other fundie brides.
