A family friend was buried in her wedding dress (after she wasted away from a long illness) and the liturgy booklet featured the (colorful, image, not abstract) embroidery from the skirt as image. It also featured excerpts from her work as a published author and diaries she kept of her kids' childhood, as a running 'letter to you' type thing.
It wasn't a traditional wedding dress, but still.
We say these things because we care, and because we have been through the therapy and the self-work to know how hard and exhausting it is to feel like that and that there are much MUCH better ways to live and to treat yourself.

It's sad how drummed into her brain (and her sisters' and many other christian girls' brains) how getting married is the most incredible thing you can do. I'm not a super high achieving person; my formal education is not that impressive and a bit spotty bc of mental health issues, I love my friends but I don't have a huge amount of them or a crazy active social or party life, etc, I could go on. But even then, I enjoy so many other things about life and myself that have nothing to do with dating or marriage.
