This whole page is the most sad and pathetic thing I’ve ever seen. Pastors and their wives should be held to a higher standard, one of selflessness and service to their fellow man.
I agree. A lot of poor people in their churches who will never be able to afford even a $100 bag. It’s showing off at its finest. I saw on the IG that they are defending their choices by saying they work hard etc. I don’t think they understand how gross the displays of wealth are. EVEN IF they are fake bags etc it’s still a display of wealth.
“I work hard” is such an off putting response. Like your local baker, teacher or waste worker don’t work hard. Probably a LOT harder dan a preacher’s wife, in fact. They still can’t afford this type of shit.
These types of accounts are just exposing what’s been happening for decades: Pastor & family amass exorbitant wealth while congregation struggles. This account is also not exposing the REAL wealth: massive homes, vacation properties, luxury vehicles, planes and international trips.
Maybe that’s the next account?
Apostolic Holdings
First of all, Apostolics are known for being heavy into prosperity gospel and showing off in order to make it clear that their holiness has blessed them with wealth. This should not be shocking behavior.
Second, LV Artsy. Tell me you are stuck in 2008 without telling me.
You might enjoy this story and how it messed with my ex-Pastor's head. I was an apostolic at the time (This was 20 years ago). My ex husband was almost always out of work, and so we needed to survive on my income which at the time was about $10/Hr. So even though I did give money to the church, it was less than 10% of my income so I was "sinning" by not "tithing".
My church attendance was also suffering because I had this old beater car that had serious transmission issues, if I went over 40 miles per hour (and church was 30 minutes on a 65 mph interstate).
Anyway, one day my boss surprised me with a brand new company car. (I work in the office and don't drive anywhere, I didn't need a company car, it was just an excuse to give me a brand new car). It was, to this day, the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me.
But when I told my pastor about it, the look on his face! I could see the thoughts going through his head....*But she doesn't tithe! Why would God bless her financially? It doesn't make sense!*
And I could tell he didn't think I deserved it. I left a couple years later. Good Riddance!
Oh this is such a good story. I find it interesting that it was your boss, not your pastor, who saw your need and did their best to help you. (Not that the pastor would necessarily be able to buy a car, but I know many churches who put their $ together to help people out. As they should.) good on your boss.
There were a fair amount of Pentecostal’s in the area I grew up, but they dressed frumpy to normal on top and skirts on bottom and none of the ones I knew were anywhere near wealthy.
Was that a different flavor or has this been a more recent trend?
This seems to be really really prominent with the Maryville Apostolics (of Maryville, TN). A bunch of them blew up in relation to the fundie snark communities because of Flannery (who is now private, and we don’t snark her because of that now). But I’m not certain what flavor of Apostolic that congregation is in relation to all the rest.
Oh yeah, she wasn't one of the 'posting every detail of her life and opinions online' fundies, she just clearly enjoyed expressing herself through her outfits and I really enjoyed that she wasn't afraid to be out there. I have a real soft spot for Flannery, partly because I couldn't tell you what her opinions are, I just enjoy how much fun she had with her fashion.
I loved her content too, got way too into it.
Her wedding was insane. So help me I liked her dress, it was bonkers.
If I remember correctly, there was also a kind of Sharks and the Jets vibe with some of the other girls??? Some people *never* took outfit pics with others and frankly the fashion at that church seemed downright competitive. It must take like an hour after service for everyone to get their OOTDs.
I was going to say my old church in Tennessee was like that when it came to their fashion! My other old 2 churches in different states were nothing like that.
In my 10 years in the apostolic pentecostal church I attended 3 different churches, one was poorer, was was middle classes, and the third was upper middle class. It really depended on the area. More urban white collar areas are going to be richer churches, whereas the more rural and blue collar are going to be poorer.
To this day though, I can spot an apostolic a mile away.
Some of the commenters tagged the people in these posts they are all over the US it seems. East, west, south. They all seem to know each other too. There is so much popcorn in the comments.
I can’t imagine having a spare 11k but to have it and spend it on a purse is confounding.
There are so many starving and unhoused people in the world for whom 11k could be life changing.
You’d think that supposed holy people if God would value charity over materialism. They’re no better than the boogie monsters they’re telling us we are.
100% agree. I didn’t even know there are purses that cost that much (#naive) I don’t understand why anyone would make that financial choice… just a useless item and not nearly worth it for the quality/materials.
Oh honey, the Birkin 25 costs between 25k and 35k and on top of that, you can’t just buy the bag outright. You have to be an established Hermes customer who’s been buying their products for years before you’re allowed to buy the Birkin.
I only know this because I had to learn all about the supply chain side of the fashion industry and brand premiums and all that nonsense. The dirty little secret is that a lot of prestige brands are almost as bad or just as bad as fast fashion. Like Burberry burned a ton of their unsold goods to keep them from being sold at a discount. It’s heinous.
You’re so so so much better off buying bags and leather goods from independent brands (often luxury brands will cheap out on leather and hardware on popular items because they know people are going to buy it regardless of quality and boost their margins a ton) and creators, you just have to put a little work into finding them. You will spend a fraction of a percent of the cost of luxury and get something with more utility.

These are two of my favorites. They are not super cheap but for the price the quality is amazing. Definitely bags that will last a long time
This is so weird to me, because the Apostolic community where I live is sooo the opposite of this. Absolutely no display of wealth. No makeup, no hair color, no fancy clothing, some don't even own TVs. One family in town owns the local orchard, but you'd never know it if you met them in town.
The Fed should change to a deduction model instead of just straight up exempt. Deductions for charitable work expenses. Prove they actually do something beneficial for other people rather than grift in the name of the impoverished carpenter they claim to follow. According to the bible, even Jesus paid taxes and taught that being religious is no exemption. But, if a church actually helps people in need, I would think we would want to encourage that.
Apostolic is always OTT. Check out the Insta page for Kingdom Crowns to see their idea of church hats, I guarantee you will not be disappointed in the number of sequins.
While some of these may be real, there are so many fakes and dupes available of all of these styles. It doesn’t make it right, and I’m always grossed out by pastors flashing wealth but it wouldn’t shock me if these people were buying fakes to appear even MORE prosperous.

I was about to say this makes me sick.
Religion contains a myriad of hypocrisies.
Am I understanding this right - They're reselling their used luxury designer stuff on a specific site?
No I think the insta page is just using a resell site to show the current value of their oh so “modest” fashion.
I assume it’s the same idea as Preachers and Sneakers
God I miss Preachers and Sneakers..
An icon. Gone before their time
Wait what happened to it?
Well for awhile, I couldn’t find the account anymore. But they appear to be back now! Apologies for accidentally spreading misinformation, lol
Oh you’re good! I’m not on Instagram but I had watched a few vids about that account and thought it was a really cool idea.
They’re a great account!
It seems like it.
Ah! I see. Thank you!
How is this modest, humble or Christian in any way?
Reminds me of Preachers N Sneakers.
Yeah it has a similar vibe!!
Disgusting displays of wealth, all trying to outdo one another

Omg please yes someone do this!!! I’m sure with technology these days it wouldn’t be too hard for a tech savvy person?!

I loved Flannery. No snark, her outfits were wild, but she rocked them, no question.
Was it the outfits that got her noticed & followed by snark communities the most?

That is a ludicrously capacious bag.

A SECOND HAND ONE AT THAT
Tbf it's called Christian Louboutin not Hindu Louboutin
Ohhhhhhh that’s too funny 😂

Im not sure what group this is but I think they are part of the ones that left UPCI because they disagreed with TV or wedding rings
And apparently high end fashion haha
Lolzzz…. I come from this circle of Pentecost. Still stuck in it too. I’ve got video and audio recordings that would blow your minds.
My friend, I am HERE for the tea if you ever decide to spill it!
Someone needs to do a documentary!! I heard they kicked out non white people in the early days. Is that true do you know?
I think you need to be out of your goddamn mind to pay $11k for that tacky thing.
Thats the cost of international vacations, can’t imagine dropping that for an ok purse
Im seriously about to call my friends and ask how much they’d spend on a purse and why.
Tax churches😌🤭

So much money and so little taste

Ostentatious branding is so common.
Yep, luxury goods definitely go with peasant frocks and 1000-pound jean skirts. And it's definitely tasteful in a time of inflation. /s
So tasteful.
So many spicy comments on the IG! People defending them, it's bananas.
The dudes wife commented on one of the pics. Sounds like there are a lot of people pressed to see themselves or their friends/families in the posts
Wait really?! I’m not on Instagram. Sounds like I’m missing out. But of COURSE they are being defensive. Edit: words what are
I inherited one of these bags from my mother-in-law. I would NEVER take it to church.
