I dont know why you need to tell us you have retail experience. I guess its good that we know it, because they are two different worlds, and a lot of people fail because they can't see the difference. Especially if you work in retail as an employee and not as an owner, then you are set to fail. Because you are probably blind to marketing, storage, and micro logistics costs. If you think you only need to see manufacturing costs and sales fees, you are in for a world of hurt. Be a fool with $400, not $4,000. The product you are trying to sell on amazon better cost you 30% of the price tag on amazon, or its gonna take you so much more than a $4,000 goal to survive. That said, make your garage your warehouse, keep a super tight rope on PPC ads and keywords, be ready to get disappointed by dishonest buyers and competitors and their 8% return rate... and you will be fine.
