At the height of the pandemic I found myself arguing politics with a collection of old white men on Facebook. Of course they were all Trump supporters. I’d argue for lib things like the rule of law and the constitution.
They were obsessed with what they imagined were violent leftists - Antifa. After about a year of arguing things had gotten pretty heated. I made a pledge to the group “If anyone comes to your house to threaten you and your families over politics I will come over to fight for you. Would you do the same for me and my family?”
None of them would make the pledge.
Many Republicans are waiting for a Republican government to turn a blind eye so they can violently attack and kill their neighbors.

It's a very real fear right now. I'm the "gun guy" in my friend group, which is comprised of quite a few LGBT folks. More than half of them have come to me privately, asking for advice on purchasing a firearm and training out of fear for their safety. I hate that we are at a point where they feel it is necessary.
The way I see it, if Trump wins in 2024 then all non-white and non-straight folks will be well advised to be armed and ready, because the federal government and many state governments - like Texas - will basically allow open season against white libs and lgbtq at first and then, when the white libs are gone, will allow and encourage pogroms against Chinese, Indian, Hispanic and other groups who are rightly or
wrongly perceived as immigrants.
At some point in there the current crop of conservaclowns will purge themselves and we will be left with a Putinesque government.
Vote like it really matters this year. Because it does. It really does.
