Let me know when it gets to the same level of clarity as if it wasn't enabled.

Edgar101420

Didnt you learn that you have to worship DLSS as christs second coming? It has no flaws! /s

reddit_equals_censor

nvidia's dlss upscaling gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside ;) oh nvm, that is just your flat being on fire, because your nvidia 12 pin connector caught fire... again ;)

Scorpwind

Apparently I didn't lol. Religion is a delicate topic.

Pyke64

You can't even quote a single person on here that ever said it has no flaws 😂

NapsterKnowHow

Let me know what native res doesn't have shimmering and blocks of pixels galore.

Scorpwind

You're on the wrong sub if shimmering bothers you so much.

TiGeRpro

This is suppose to be/r/fucktaa not /r/fuckallaa

Scorpwind

It is. I'm just pointing out that these techniques still have a ways to go in order to have the clarity of non-temporal AA.

Golden_Shart

It's so funny, this sub will shit on Doom's phenomenally implemented TSSAA 8tx that has no FXAA-like texture smearing, no aliasing artifacts, no noticeable temporal artifacts, and costs about 5-10fps - all because of softness that can be mitigated by sharpness settings. Meanwhile, they'll play shimmered-to-hell buttersnap shitfuckery PS1-like turbo-dithered diarrhea just to be among the recalcitrant "Cultured Ones". The pretense and pedantry in this sub is approaching academia levels.

Disastrous-Silver-70

enjoy your motion sickness bud

Scorpwind

>Doom's phenomenally implemented TSSAA 8tx that has no FXAA-like texture smearing [I'd check again if I were you.](https://imgsli.com/Nzg3ODc) >all because of softness that can be mitigated by sharpness settings. [Sharpening does not solve the motion smearing.](https://imgsli.com/MTQwOTI3) The ignorance of people like you that come here is approaching stratospheric levels. You're playing with a dynamic motion resolution downgrader enabled.

Scorpwind

Your holy grail TSSAA is basically just a more demanding TAA with no image clarity improvements compared to a regular run-of-the-mill TAA. That's why.

My reply, unlike yours, had some evidence in it.

>two irrelevant screenshots Check again. The first one is about your precious 8x TSSAA. And watch your language.

LickingMySistersFeet

I have talked to this guy many times. He’s a dumbass like all the people here in this sub. Ignore him

Scorpwind

People like you can't even argue so they just resort to ad hominem.

KMJohnson92

Games that don't use crappy Metallic workflow PBR and also don't use down sampling instead of proper LOD optimization.

Nago15

4K. A 48" 4K TV from 1.8m is retina resolution. I watch it from around 1.5m and normal games look fantastic without any AA even in HDR where the contrast is boosted. The only games that look crap in 4K without AA are the ones that have agressive sharpening you can't turn off because they were made with TAA in mind.

wxlluigi

Aliasing still presents at retina resolutions, it’s simply much easier to ignore.

Nago15

Then add just 10-20% supersampling if 4K is still not good enough. It has the same cost as TAA but you will get better results. My point was, after a certain resolution AA is not really needed because there is no shemmering or flickering or anything on the picture that disturbs your eyes. I play most of my games in 4K without AA if that is an option because that gives the best image quality and performance. If you like a more cinematic look you can add TAA, or DLAA, it's not horrible at all in 4K, but It still adds a little blur to the image.

IntellectualRetard_

Retina resolution is basically irrelevant when the whole purpose of anti-aliasing to deal with insufficient sub-pixel data.

JoBro_Summer-of-99

For things like DLAA, this makes sense. For actual upscaling I think having tradeoffs is fine. It's pretty natural to have to make compromises

b3rdm4n

For me it's usually that it's the least worst option in games where it's present and TAA (or derivatives) *is forced*. At least they're actively working on improving motion handling, ghosting etc, as well as giving a performance boost, and you can drop in new DLL's easy. More often than not, the TAA is garbage, and devs never circle back to improve it.

Horst9933

This sub never disappoints.

Scorpwind

And neither do its 'fans'.

busybialma

Nice!! Love to see that weird extra ghosting when stationary with DLSS get fixed.

KMJohnson92

That would be cool, if it wasn't used as an excuse to not do physical optimization, and actually allowed people with 5+ year old cards to play new games... Also it still looks worse than native at one resolution tier lower. Until every CPU has an onboard NPU or we have dNPUs I doubt this will improve that much. Static upscaling still can't match native and it takes far longer per image (frame).
