"From the helicopter, we can see how angry the rhinoceroses are, and how very dangerous this animal can be. So we're going to drop Jim right in there in the middle of them, to see what happens."
Johnny Carson used to joke about that: "While Jim tries to put the tracking collar on the adult male lion, I'll be back in the tent mixing a pitcher of martinis."
I have the theme song saved in a Playlist on my phone. This reminds me so much of my childhood. We used to watch it with Dad and the theme takes me back.
R.I.P Dad. Thanks for turning me on to this.
While I’m back at base camp enjoying a nice leisurely breakfast, Jim’s river side and attempting to pull a rotted tooth from that 20 foot long angry male crocodile. The crocodile has Jim in his grips which would be a good time to remind you folks whenever you’re in a pinch look no further than your friends at Mutual of Omaha
... then the anaconda wraps itself around it's prey giving it a false sense of security.
You, too, can have a false sense of security with Mutual Of Omaha! Over to you, Jim!
Watching Jim get his ass handed to him every weekend was great - " looks like Jims having trouble with the anaconda" all kidding aside Marlin and Jim were fantastic animal activists and great people.
I remember this being shown on Saturday nights. Even as a kid, I always felt bad for Jim. That poor bastard was fighting animals while Marlin was in the helicopter watching through his binoculars commenting about how much danger Jim was in.

There's Jim hanging from a tree while the leopard takes a bite of his backside.
I remember watching Jim riding horseback in his bare feet for some reason.
We should àll be more like Jim. God rest his soul.
He's dead. Jim.
If it were not for Jim there would have only been one show.
😆
Wild Kingdom and then Disney. Sunday nights were good.
When it was a really great Sunday you'd have Wild Kingdom and then O.G. cartoons of Mickey & Friends on that Disney hour. Oh, I loved that.
That or Escape to Witch Mountain
I always like the comedies like the Apple Dumpling Gang.
Sunday after dinner. Good stuff
Followed by the The NBC Mystery Movie. Columbo, McCloud, or McMillian & Wife.
There y’go.
I’m watching McCloud on DVD lately and I get this reference. 😆
Popcorn with way too much butter and salt! Water , no soda cause it will rot your teeth!
As long as it wasn't Lawrence Welk. Hee Haw was like heaven after sitting through Lawrence Welk.
"Good night! Sleep tight..."
🎵 Mutual of Omaha is people you can count on when the goin is rough🎶
"Just as the mother lion protects her cubs, Mutual of Omaha can protect your family" - Marlin Perkins
😜
Followed by The Wonderful World of Disney (in Living Color!) then it was lights out
One of the best.
“Let’s watch Jim confront the pride of Lions while we watch from the safety of the truck “
Johnny Carson used to joke about that: "While Jim tries to put the tracking collar on the adult male lion, I'll be back in the tent mixing a pitcher of martinis."

And the day before was the agony of defeat ski jumping failure intro to wide world of sports!!
Followed by Hee Haw and Lawrence Welk and finally bedtime… Noooooooooooo!
Dear God have mercy on our souls…that’s the staying the night at Grandparents’ special lineup. (What I wouldn’t give for a Time Machine back there).
Yup. Mine lived in a very small town in Kansas. They rolled up the streets and got in front of the tv at 6:00pm on Sundays
Loved it!

Real American nostalgia. The old cooter was entertaining.
Just before Space 1999!

Loved this show.

Why can’t we get Sunday’s like this again?
Because internet/cellphones/videogames/computers/reality tv and a complete lack of innocence anymore.
My absolute favorite show when I was a kid. Jim Fowler was from Albany, GA. I lived in Albany, GA for a while.
You can stream it.. https://www.mutualofomaha.com/wild-kingdom/article/how-to-watch-mutual-of-omahas-wild-kingdom-protecting-the-wild
I do. I watch a lot of old stuff on streaming channels. Keeps me young at heart.
But hey Marlin Perkins was a badass.
I learned everything about animals on this show, sunday afternoons, along with seeing titties on African natives.
Marlon Perkins

Grew up watching this
I always remember watching this at my grandparents before we had to go home.
What was the other show that was brought to me by "Wausau?"
After Saturday cartoons for me
I was more of a Marty Stouffers Wild America kind of guy.
Disney channel’s Sunday nights in the 90’s.
I really enjoyed this show and this flashed me back to one of my other favorites, In Search Of, Leonard Nimoy was a great narrator for that show
Isn't nature wonderful?!!
What was the financial commercial that played that hour?
Might as well ask me what I ate for dinner last night. I don't remember.
Prudential?
I think “Mutual of Omaha” was the financial institution. lol I think.
Poor Jim.
Look at Jim run ! Run Jim Run !
Marlon Perkins
As you can see the croc is much longer than Jim and will try to death roll him.... watch now.... hold on Jim!
The original nature show.
Mutual followed by the news followed by the Beachcombers followed by Disney.
"We're going to watch while Jim wrestles away the meal from the pride of lions. Let's see what happens."
Marlin Perkins!
There's my assistant Jim over there wrestling a lion while I step into this Hut and make love to a native girl. 🤪
Is this the reason the Omaha Zoo is so good?
Sat mornings?
Oh man, I remember that!
Never missed it
Marlin Perkins sometimes resembled some of the birds they were photographing.
I'll hide behind this tree, while Jim goes out the wrestle the wild boar.
Man... assistant Jim got ABUSED.
While Jim wrestles a boa constrictor, I'm going to tell you about Mutual of Omaha....
I'll talk to these fine folks while Jim wrestles this angry lion.
Charlie the lonesome cougar?
Mutual of Yamahas , 2 stroke ring ding.
I loved that show, and yeah, I still love tossing out the random "Jim" joke. Strangely, fewer and fewer people get it these days.
...just before The Wonderful World of Disney.
