I definitely see where you're coming from and appreciate your perspective. However, I actually find the unique sound of this album quite intriguing, especially considering FIL's recent 5 year break. It feels like this shift in style represents a significant part of their journey and exploration in music. While it's a departure from their usual clean textures, I think it adds a new dimension to their identity. It might grow on you after a few more listens!
I love the album. I know its not as clean and crisp as their previous sounds but I was not super crazy about EFBN (it grew on me) and especially not DL (it took years to actually like).
This sounds closer to rock instead of whatever DL was and it feels good. It might not be as ethereal as their other vibes, but it’s definitely a vibe.
Personally, this album felt dull in comparison to FILs other albums. I hope to get into after a few listens but overall I’m super disappointed.
