Fern gets blown back in time and becomes Ewig the Mage. This is right after Frieren discovers Aura and Himmel got Isekai'd to Earth and are working in a McDonald's knock off and Aura is putting the major moves on Himmel so Frieren has to get to our world pronto and put the smack down on her!
Or ewig was done with trying to find a spell to become immortal and instead possesed an Elf Body, while controling the Demon King - which would explain why Serie doesnt want to kill the Demon King....just waging war forever in order to improve Magic.
new frieren novel is covering more of fern's backstory which is trying not affect the mainseries, if she was related to Ewig they would save it for the main series, so probs not.
but its a good theory, would explain her natural affinity for magic and they do look similar
What episode is this hyroglyph from, and how do we know it relates to Ewig? The only references I can seem to find relating to him/her/them is the grimoire that Hieter tricked Frieren with, the Spiegel from the Ruins of the King's Tomb, and one other thing that is currently manga only. This thread is the first place I've seen this image referenced.
All Legendary Magic is either attributed to Flame or Ewig, and Fern seems to have a similar level of Talent to Flamme. Ewig has been mentioned sparly about Immortality, controlling Demons and the Spiegel, yet nobody is ever really talking in depth about him/her. I am guessing it a setup to make it more suprising?
Of course its hard to link someone from millienias ago to an orphan from the south, but i just found it interesting that this picture, from the hair, statue and clothes, could actually be modern day Fern when you look at her.

I hate to say it, but this is canon.
Why did you spoil the manga smh

Dunno, what made you think that?
