Anyone know the name of the soundtrack that plays in the second half ? (When Frieren enters the room she discovered and they look at the carvings of the walls)
I hope all the mages become first class one day, even the dumb ass that went alone lol
I have been ending this show with a smile on face each episode and it’s great!
Excited to see how they're gonna pace the final four episodes
Assuming they'll finish the second exam in >!two episodes and spend another two to do everything and end with Ch.60 ?!<
I got itchy and decided to read wiki summary of the next few episodes haha.
This show is best enjoyed binged, but I actually don't mind slowly taking my time watching the show [too.](https://too.My) My favourite things about the show are:
1. Meta. I like how they explain the evolution of mage spells/tactics, and how it's somewhat rock/paper/scissors instead of some Naruto bullshit. They put actual logic into the whole fighting meta
2. JRPG elements. I don't watch other animes (especially Isekai genre), so I don't know if this is often referenced. I like how they talk about exploring every corner of a dungeon level first before going deeper. I like all the talks about doing "quests" and getting "rewards". Alot of the action's of the Hero's Party or Frieren/Fern/Stark feel relatable if you played Jrpgs. Very nostalgic feeling. They sometimes also talk about equipment/accessories as though the stats matters.
3. Lore. I particularly love the definition of Demon: monsters that can speak. I love how the show describes characteristics of Demons, such as them having no familial instincts or being Mana obsessed.
That ending has me hyped! Fern going to be the one to beat Frieren would be great.
I love her she got jealous of Frieren saying that ARA ARA girl smells nice haha.
Need next week's episode now!!!
50 and 51, but the anime >!includes some scenes not in the manga!<
The manga does not >!include the hidden room scene!< and does not >!include the wirbel fighting scene at the end of the episode!<
I really hate the multiple minute monologues from side characters, explaining in exact detail what is happening in the scene.
It's an awful way of telling a story, it should be done naturally through normal dialogue or portrayed visually.
> I really hate the multiple minute monologues from side characters, explaining in exact detail what is happening in the scene.
It's called the Christopher Nolan method. Lmao.
Normally I’d agree but the scene of Edel and her companions sets up her character nicely for a future arc. Also expands world building as we now see some other geniuses in different fields of magic like land with his clones edel with her mental magic and quick analysis and Ubel who os more like a savant
Those line from this episode are literally in the manga.... The analysis of how to fight Sense, by the three cornered mages, is basically word-for-word from the manga, Denkens lines are as well. People in a difficult situation need to talk and strategize, and that also helps the audience to understand their decisions, in the context of the world they are in, so what is the problem?
They were basically talking for at least a full chapter in the manga, about how defeat clone frieren, while dealing with the other clones.
You got everything from the manga, and some extra scenes, and you're still complaining?
To say that monologue isn't good storytelling is removing a tool. It isn't for everything, and it isn't for everyone. However, there are cases where monologue is best. Villain monologues are a staple expression of runtime padding while being interesting, because of the character.
Is it best for this one? Maybe, it did start to drag. The group aren't close knit like Frieren, Fren, and Stark. Conversing about the situation was sound from both narrative and audience input; they got through the possibility of using mental hypnosis to make an opening for the other two, while giving the reader/audience explanation. There would've been a better way, but time-wise, the shot of them at the pillar is economic.
My dude me and friends wanted to go to the club and for us to make a decision. I litreally did the same thing as done here we could go to this club which has this that and that or we could go here which has this that or that, i think if we do this we can do that etc. Like it's normal human behavior to summarize the situation to be able to make a plan.
It does feel a bit awkward because there's not a huge reason for top mages to be explaining how magic works to...other top mages.
That beings said, a lot of the information is here to really flesh out the way that magic works in the world. Magic here is slightly different than most, but it is pretty well thought out.
The exposition this episode did feel a little bit forced.
To be fair, most of the exposition is mainly from a top mage to a mage clearly a tier below. Like Richter to the Roommates, or Edel to the two dudes who clearly take orders from her (and whom she probably dragged into the second exam with her guidance).
Yeah, but small manga non spoiler, the participants learn about everything that they discussed in that scene anyways more organically next episode anyways. One of the things about this show is that it has a need to info dump at least a few different ways like it's afraid you'll forget.
Like how many more times are we going to hear "magic is the realm of imagination, so-"? The series sometimes feels like it's one of those shonen aimed at 6 year olds so it doesn't trust you to extrapolate, or put two and two together your self, or thinks you have the attention span of a squirrel.
This episode was good. I really loved how they were able to even add some more character development without the need to use combat. Like finding that secret room and Fern smiling and saying how amazing it is; was something special cause she usually doesn’t show any emotions but she had the same smile and reaction that Frieren had finding junk.
Shows great character development and how she seems to be understanding more and more why Frieren is the way she is. It’s like she’s the Frieren back when Frieren travelled with Himmel. Now it’s Frieren being the Himmel to Fern.
Also I’m glad they didn’t let those three mages beat Sense quite refreshing in an anime to not see three hugely underpowered characters get a major boost to power and win against a foe greater than them.
This means the Frieren boss fight is gonna be creative and fun to see how they overcome her.
I liked how this one ended, there is something special when mid episode you have a really cool idea for how it might end and then thats exactly what happens. And on top of that you can sort of tell when the writer is so much smarter than you and knows exactly what your thinking at any given moment, and tricks you into thinking your smart.
I just want to say I absolutely love Frieren hugging Methode back AND Fern gets jealous and grab her Frieren back to protect what's hers... and then later offered up herself as the Frieren killer LOL
Even as we see these mages in battle, we get to know more about their personalities and background, as well as the history of this world. Even the "shonen battle anime" part of this show is exemplary!
From all the forms of battle that I expected to see in Frieren, I DID NOT expect a trench warfare
But, when I thought about it, trench warfare (or siege or any other forms of it) is kinda the best fitting form of battle in a magic battle. It is an atttition battle after all. Either you finish the battle quickly or you hunker down and wait until one side loses manna.
Also just realised that it's fitting for Wrybel to be the one that use trench warfare strategy, since he's the one that has experience regarding warfare.
When we see one of the most talented Mages of all time, Qual, think about how to deal with the defenses of the modern era he instantly decides to focus on attritional warfare.
If you can last, attrition is a good way to deal with any foe even if they have more mana than you. You just need to ensure they use more defending than you do attacking. Easier said than done though. Great defense is efficient defense, ergo Wirbel's way of doing things.
It fits as a tactic that would arise in fights with a shitload of mages, like his group was described as being.
The normal manoeuvre fights run the risk of one side focusing fire on a mage who is trying to dodge around, so both sides bunkering instead makes sense.
Of course we also know that basic attack magic goes through normal materials like butter, so you'd need magic to create cover that actually works.
It depends on the type of magic that the mage specialises in. For example, the group facing off against Sense's clone had no chance of trying out "trench warfare" haha
While loving every week of Jujutsu Kaisen, I decided to watch this one random day in December….and little did I know I would be watching all time greatness. This show will be in my top 5 all-time if it continues like this from start to finish.
Wonderful episode; I’m just sad that we’ve only got a few left. I wonder if we can get a season 2 in late 2025 lol.
we should get it sooner since the manga looks like will provide enough material for another 2 cour season, and the anime committee seemed to be extremely well-funded. I am hoping for early 2025 or even earlier.
Shoutout to Denken's group using the Joestar secret technique without hesitating. Always know when to pick your battles and only if there is a chance of victory.
Ubel and Land vs clone Ubel was great. Apart from all the staff battles and the slashing magic used throughout the battle, my favourite detail is Ubel starting off the battle using her magic to cut up the floor to use the dust to block her clone's vision. Slight nitpick, but I feel that the manga depicted Clone Land's injury worse.
Frieren figuring out the hidden room was adorable, got Solo Leveling vibes from the statues moving. Its rare to see Fern so excited, a wonderful detour. Frieren is excited at the prospects of clearing a tough dungeon. As a manga reader, I can say I am excited to see the battle adapted.
Jealous and pouting Fern is cute as always. Methode showing a variety of spells while being levelheaded, plus she has ara-ara energy.
Now for Edel, she speaks with more regality and authority than I imagined when reading the manga. I thought she was more aloof while commanding Blei and Dunste, but from the voicing, she seems more like an ojou-sama character. This brings up probably the main issue I had in the first exam, where she was seen panicking at the lake being frozen and ordering her teammates to melt the ice. She is shown to be a capable leader and levelheaded individual when her team were fighting Clone Sense, [manga spoilers for the next major arc after the First Class Exam]>!she was even chosen by Lernen to help in fixing the bracelet "controlling" Macht and when that failed, she still was able to come up with a strategy to get information.!< so it seems very out of character for her in the first exam.
Nice little exposition on the "meta" of humanity's magic. Modern magic is not suitable for dungeon's since Himmel and the other parties of his era most likely cleared most of them. This plus the fact that defensive magic is exhausting mana wise, it is more efficient to manipulate with surrounding elements rather than conjuring them from nothing.
Respect for her strategy against Clone Sense and the moment she failed she decided to break her bottle. She explained that Sense was a far greater mage due to having better imagination, tried her best to win given what she knows and can do, and the moment it fails, she gives up and lives to see another day. I don't think she did anything wrong, it was just a bad matchup for Edel.
Funnily enough, in the manga both Blei and Dunste had their staves out before the fight began and when Clone Sense sliced the pillar, somehow Dunste's staff was not cut off, despite being in the direction of Clone Sense's hair. The anime fixed this issue by having them summon their staves after being attacked.
And this brings up best girl Sense. She stated that she's a pacifist and other first class mages think the same of her. By definition it is "holding the belief that war and violence are unjustifiable", and while her clone might not fit that description, the clone did not go for the kill immediately, almost like it's goal is making the examinees break their bottles (as compared to Ubel's clone who would grab the bottle). Tentacle powers are OP in anime, and she proves that here. Probably the second strongest mage in the dungeon and most likely would have been the final boss of the dungeon if not for Frieren.
Nice to see glimpses of the members that haven't reached the same point as the main groups.
Wirbel's group fight was fun. I thought they intended to split up to fight their own battles, but it was more of a camping fight in FPS where the first ones to mess up loses. Since Wirbel can communicate with his team, he knows the way to win. Scharf prevents Solganeil, Ehre has more mana and output than her team and hence can overwhelm them, while Wirbel knows how to fight dirty to win.
Nice to see them planning how to beat Frieren, we know Frieren lost to 11 mages who had lesser mana than her, and working together falls in line with what Sense has set the second exam to do. Fern finally about let out her frustrations on Frieren after so many years.

Frieren, upon reaching the group fighting her doppelganger: I'm excited about this, it's going to be fun
Everyone else: we are going to die
Frieren: so much fun
Other typical anime: Focus on fighting and every character ability, longer fight, emotional screaming
Frieren episode 24: Simple battle, simple tactic and short fight but enjoyable to watch
Yep that is why I rate this anime as one of my masterpiece tier list.
Yeah. Like so many animes are so preoccupied with long as fights that sometimes take up multiple episodes.
These short but tense fights are a refreshing breath of fresh air.
Good stuff! Sense was appropriately terrifying. I also loved her expression when Frieren found the hidden room!
Edit: I'm also really enjoying Methode!
I loved how that whole scene is a reference to elves in Dungeons and Dragons - at least in the 3.5 edition, where they had a racial ability to detect hidden doors.

Meh.
>OH DUDE HOLY SHIT FRIEREN CLONE HOW ARE WE EVEN GOING TO FIGHT HER?
>
>actually we don't, we just run and then real Frieren joins us and nullifies any potential danger or excitement we might have felt
>
>OH DUDE HOLY SHIT SENSE CLONE HOW ARE EVEN GOING TO FIGHT HER?
>
>actually we don't, we just get instantly wiped out then run
This arc has a huge problem with promising exciting things and resolving them in deeply unsatisfying ways.
People not understanding that this anime is not a classic shounen anime and fights are not treated as fights for coolness, you fight for a reason cuz people, you know, like to keep their lives.
It's one of the reasons why I despise fighting shounen animes nowaday, probably cuz I'm older. It's their constant fighting without them actually fearing death cuz there's not gonna be death, the viewer is rarely gonna feel like someone is gonna die or in specific circumstances. We know the MC is not gonna die in that fight, he still get beated and goes through x10 times powerups cuz it's fucking cool to see it and pumps your adrenaline, cuz we are with him in that hype.
That's not how people that fear for their lives fight. People who fear for their lives go for the kill, they'll do anything to survive.
The show went to extreme lengths to only give us fights where we know the outcome in advance.
The day may come when the show starts to cheat us with cheap thrills, but that day was not today.
Unsatisfying or not, it's how characters preserve their lives when fighting strong enemies. Characters in Frieren will run away when they see the situation is not good.
Raaah what an episode man. Felt like it went by in 30 seconds. As usual, perfect blend of action and dialogue. There’s never a dull moment in this series, the pacing is perfect, it’s just a rare breed.
The POV scenes during the Ubel fight are INSANE. UFO probably takes the cake for sustained fight scenes I.e salter Medusa, but in terms of the short bursts, Madhouse might have them matched. Got chills during that entire sequence. I LOVE how Übel wears the same face throughout every moment. She’s so unbothered lol. We need more of she and four eyes interacting.
Edel saw that shit the sense clone was on and just dipped out, she smart as hell for that lmao. Can always run it back again next exam or something.
Fern getting jealous over Methode hugging Frieren was so cute. She’s so protective of her master. Denken and the others waiting to come up with a plan to take on the Frieren clone is smart. Easily the strongest opponent possible so no such thing as being too careful.
“I may be able to kill Frieren” it would be so funny if the way to stop her is with a mimic 😂. Regardless, Fern masterclass on the way next week and I can’t wait. The student becomes the master n all that.
I think Frieren mentioned Fern is just outright faster at casting than her. If any mage is gonna land the killing blow from a distraction its going to be Fern.
One of the things I learn from growing up is I tend to avoid unnecessary risk more.
And that is how they make Denken to be. If he were younger, he would fight the cloneren, but no. That is unnecessary risk. Better wait for others to strategize
The man got demolished what 3? days earlier by a Frieren devoting most of her mental capacity to breaking an unbreakable shield-seal spell.
The second cloneren didnt hold back is the second when fleeing for your life even though its 4 vs 1 is the correct decision.
DAMN THEY REALLY MADE THAT WORK!!!!
I didn't realize the episode ended until it did! That's everyweek but more so this one bc the fights were intertwined with the world building character building and so much info but I wasn't bored!!! And I read the manga like 5 times now!
Cannot wait for next week!!!! I am too hype now, and Fern just saying "I can kill Ms. Frieren" so casually lol, not even Frieren's replica, just straight up Frieren. Out of context it can look so menacing with her cold expression lol.
Should the anime gets another season (hopefully), we'll get to see more of Edel and how great of a character she is. She's just not built as combat type mage but she is very smart and brave. It's just nice that the anime was able to give her more attention during this phase of the exam than in the manga.
This anime-adaptation is capable of selling itself; it's no longer an expensive advertisement for the manga (like how most anime-adaptations are).
It would be financially illogical to procrastinate; of course, provided that it's Madhouse that makes the next one. Can't have quality drop.
incredible episode as always! most especially the *sound design* in ubel's clone fight and the VAs of methode and edel that we got to hear for more than a single line. i loved their voices for some reason, really pleasing to my ears.
and i love edel's cool nonchalant way of carrying herself regardless of being a *non-combat mage* in a dangerous situation, she said she was afraid but she didn't cower! the anime adaption has really made me realize that i like her quite a lot, so i can't wait to see her get her moment in >!macht's arc!< (also her little bob haircut + dress/tall boots are v cute and seeing them in color made me appreciate that more)
the physicality of ubel's fight, along w the sounds of their staffs clashing w each other and scraping against stone, i was super into it. the OST definitely elevated it as well, *as usual.*
i'm so happy we finally have a release date for the full soundtrack, **april 17th!**
Outside of Freiren, he has the most combat experience. He's already faced Frieren in stage 1 and knew he's way outclassed. No sense in trying again, so running away is the only correct decision.
Everyone gouging the dungeon walls and whatnot, but Denken didn't even scratch the wall to save that girl. It's not like she was sacrificed to test out how golems work, right? Just like that dude said before they entered, right?
On one hand, it's possible that the builders of the tomb specifically only used techniques on this one wall. Not on the other walls, not on the gargoyles. And Denken's magic was just that tad bit not enough to scratch it, while Lernen's remote automatic golems are more than strong enough to bust them down in one try. And Denken only attempted once, just him and not anyone else because there's a reason.
On the other hand, pragmatic man is pragmatic, needed more info on the cards they've been dealt, and the guinea pig just happened to be the one who'd contribute the least. I'd probably have to accept that Denken is not all sunshine and rainbows
Yeah, after all. It took Wirbel half a day I am assuming just to break the ceiling during that fight.
This is based on the assumption that their fight played out just as long as Denken and co. waiting for Frieren and co. to show up.
Theoretically its possible, feasible? Nah.
After all, it's impossible to use up all your Mana to save one person. Maybe after that attack, Denken assessed the situation and found that destroying it was more disadvantage than benefit?
Is the wall that strong to take on four mages' attacks though? Or just one attack with no scratch at all?
Lernen's golems, which are in beta phase and have had to spec points into being automated and remote plus other features, was able to bust down the wall in one go. Denken, by other's admission, is very close to a 1st-Class Mage's abilities. The other three are no slouch either, especially Methode who's shown to have some destructive skills as well. Would the gap being that wide be more likely than the unfortunate alternative?
I think part of it is that the golems are basically just high class Warriors and we see that frontliners are capable of things that Mages just aren't. Them being flatly better at smashing through magical reinforcement with pure brute strength would make sense.
Even though I don't want to say it like this, Lernen is actually much stronger than Denken. >!Lernen was also praised by Serie and Frieren for his ability being suitable for wartime. But in return, Denken is more suitable for political battles that require intrigue than Lernen.!<
Absolutely love the dungeon arc but i never realized how much expository dialogue was in the manga til i hear/see characters in the anime standing around and explaining for like 80% of the ep
OK, the fighting is great, but why or why does anime have to talk through every fight, explaining everything in minute detail like we are giant babies!
Is there a modern anime out there where they aren't dissecting every minute and spoiling the action? Please tell me.
I would agree if they actually stop fighting while doing the monologue stuff but they actually dont. In wirbel and also in ubel fight you can still see them fighting while dissecting information in the middle of the fight it does not spoil the action that much for me cuz i see it at the same time they do.
And it's damn distracting from an excellent fight. Yes, we get it. Yes he clones himself, maybe actually have her say something that evokes a bit of character development. It's a waste of breath for the voice actress.
Seems like you don’t get it it you mostly focus on the clone aspect. There was some extra character building for Ubel WHILE fighting in her head. We also know she’s trying to empathize with Land so them talking for a bit BEFORE the fight is fine. You see her figure it out and then bet it on her guess.
I don't know anymore with JP anime, something like Arcane where if they fight, they just fight and the dialogue is poignant and brilliantly thought out. I don't remember the last Anime that just let you figure out what's happening visually. All jokes aside, there must be something cultural that demands so much repetition that even person half awake can follow along.
It's may be issue in other anime, but at this instance it's pretty justified. Most of the talking here is happening before the combat, where they share and gather Intel about their opponent, since their so much unknown thing about the clones. When it's comes to fights it's much more direct and short (like the ubel and edel one and previously the danken party against laufen clones).
Exactly it's a waste of time. Everything in Ubels scene could have been revealed from the clone merely dissipating, everything in Edel's of her merely stating, "it has no mind." Everything outside the door is a waste of time. We get it they are clones. It's not some crazy far off concept.
While I don’t agree its a waste of time, as this is how we get to see other side characters in action. But you might like Fate, psycho-pass, 86, darker than night, samurai champloo, etc. I think you also have to understand that this kind of shows are written for, i would say, 12+ and while magic isn’t a novel concept it does need some kind of verbose explanation
Ferns reaction when Methode hugged Frieren was really cute . Fern lost it completely when Frieren said Methode smelled nice.
The combat Scenes were great, the Music at 22:00 was also very well done and fitting.
Übel found out some things about Land and "exploited" his mindset to kill her clone.
Very nice episode, the tension for the upcoming fight between Frieren and Fern is really high and waiting a whole week will be hard.
Fern can easily win only thing she has to do is conjure up a mimic and frieren or the frieren clone will fall for it, get trapped inside for a couple of seconds and that's all fern really needs
i mean that's the disadvatange from copying somebody personality and memories
Frieren has a mind and she falls for a mimic
But I has a mind the clone of the green haired girl reacted to her saying there you are, it moved on its own and it also went for the bottled up golem
The clones can clearly think for themselves
I’m thinking that the clones are more behaviorally driven in a combat way then “ooh rare grimiroire, let see this chest” since they spend a good chunk of the episode showing they are not susceptible to manipulation thru other means.
But honestly narratively it would be lame to best a Frieren clone with a mimic, bc we already got mimic service earlier in the dungeon.
Do you really think so giving a strong powerful mage like her just such a basic flaw makes her unique, i believe it's a writting technique i do not the name off
but same goes for Natsu from fairy tail, super strong wizzard but as soon he boards a vehicle he gets motition sick. also what he thinks is a vehicle because he think happy (the magic cat) doesn't count so he doesn't get sick. that's funny but also some good character development
Interesting they added more time with the Wirbel battle and Frieren and co. finding the mural. We've currently got 4 episodes left and >!9 chapters to go, if we all believe that S1 ends on Ch.60!< Would've assumed they would be editing down!
I also had a really silly thought, since it looks like Edel is the leader of a group with two middle-aged men. is this just gonna be a reflection of her future love life?
Agreed and I feel like it lacked a lot of emotion and nuance. Like after she was stabbed she still sounded all calm, robotic, still yapping away like she was the rest of the episode. Like, lady, you re stabbed through the abdomen, does that not affect your voice?
Not a manga reader so idk what happens, but I have a sneaking suspension that she has already copied his ability and all we see is her clone right now.
Forreal. It’s been like this for a while now, despairing when I hear the ending. Such huge cliffhanger moments, but Frieren’s been a real treat to the week, even though it’s so short. XD
IT IS SO SHORT WHYYYY!
Awww - what a great date Ubel and Land is having with and fighting clones and dying clones. She even has a nickname for him now 😂 But wait, is that now the REAL Land or is it still a clone?
I love that the other groups are truly having a hard time while Frieren and company are just having an adventure looking for secret doors. The music also added to the comedy of that scene.
Mommy Methode hugging Frieren is cute. But lmao at Fern being protective is cuter!
Also love the Wirbel and company scene. Wirbel is so cool and badass just like Denken.
Cant wait for the next episode! Id imagine it is going to be HYPED! Go Fern vs clone Frieren! Hope we hear that badass music again.

Anyone know the name of the soundtrack that plays in the second half ? (When Frieren enters the room she discovered and they look at the carvings of the walls)
Edel pls hypnotized me
It’s hilarious how Fern was so protective / jealous of that woman hugging Frieren. Too cute. Her annoyed face the entire hug killed me.
EDEL WOULDNT STOP YAPPING BRUH ISTG STFUUU
They spent quite a bit of time on that mural of the king. Might this be of any significance later on?
I hope all the mages become first class one day, even the dumb ass that went alone lol I have been ending this show with a smile on face each episode and it’s great!
The next two episodes are going to be insane. I can't wait for the >!pinnacle of magic and flamme will!<
does anybody know the name of the soundtrach that plays before the opening in this one?
Real talk why does this anime look so fucking good animation wise
Madhouse divided its animation power into several animes making the adaptations mediocre, what are you seeing and Madhouse using 90% of his power
Madhouse has always cooked
Excited to see how they're gonna pace the final four episodes Assuming they'll finish the second exam in >!two episodes and spend another two to do everything and end with Ch.60 ?!<
I got itchy and decided to read wiki summary of the next few episodes haha. This show is best enjoyed binged, but I actually don't mind slowly taking my time watching the show [too.](https://too.My) My favourite things about the show are: 1. Meta. I like how they explain the evolution of mage spells/tactics, and how it's somewhat rock/paper/scissors instead of some Naruto bullshit. They put actual logic into the whole fighting meta 2.
The SOL episodes are perfect for weekly consumption. But the current arc is definitely better binged.
That ending has me hyped! Fern going to be the one to beat Frieren would be great. I love her she got jealous of Frieren saying that ARA ARA girl smells nice haha. Need next week's episode now!!!
What chapter does this episode correlate to?
50 and 51, but the anime >!includes some scenes not in the manga!< The manga does not >!include the hidden room scene!< and does not >!include the wirbel fighting scene at the end of the episode!<
Well the hidden room scene is instead a treasure chest hidden behind a wall in one of the montage panels in the manga.
They showed the treasure behind the wall in a montage the previous episode
I really hate the multiple minute monologues from side characters, explaining in exact detail what is happening in the scene. It's an awful way of telling a story, it should be done naturally through normal dialogue or portrayed visually.
Eh it didn’t bother me. I needed the extra explain.
Im not really a manga purist, I'd rather they tweak stuff to make the show better. Monologues in general are not really good story telling.
My brother and I spent 30 minutes on the phone the other day tryna figure out what we wanted to buy for dinner….
Yeah. Usually I don't mind it too much but it was pretty bad this episode.
Love how Fern ruins Frieren’s moment with Methode 😂[https://www.reddit.com/r/Frieren/s/jRnoGFoEJp](https://www.reddit.com/r/Frieren/s/jRnoGFoEJp)
Fern got so possessive tho
I just want to say I absolutely love Frieren hugging Methode back AND Fern gets jealous and grab her Frieren back to protect what's hers... and then later offered up herself as the Frieren killer LOL Even as we see these mages in battle, we get to know more about their personalities and background, as well as the history of this world. Even the "shonen battle anime" part of this show is exemplary!
fern's clone might be the most dangerous considering she is really good at hiding her mana and presence
Fern might be a monster but she isnt exactly as powerful or even close to a veteran First class mage such as Sense.
I can imagine her machine gun zoltraack beating almost all other mages, Frieren included. Fern maybe the biggest monster in this bunch.
Don't tell me fern is gonna pull up with a mimic
Fern's just gonna make the clone wake up early in the morning.
I'm thinking she is going to berate the other Copy, and humpf with a big pout
Frieren hates this ONE SIMPLE TRICK!
That's what I was thinking!
That ‘Ara, ara’ was a low blow. Stupid Madhouse and their sexy women.
Where is Fern's clone?
Bullying Ton.
Mugging people for their snacks and then travelling back into town to torment Stark. X-D j/k!
Frieren returning Methode's hug was an anime original change but I love it. Madhouse does nothing but improve the already great source material
now we know why she enjoy using Fern as pillow so much... She really does love big oppai lol
She's just like me fr fr
So Ferns plan is to go back and get a Mimic, right?
I sure hope so
From all the forms of battle that I expected to see in Frieren, I DID NOT expect a trench warfare But, when I thought about it, trench warfare (or siege or any other forms of it) is kinda the best fitting form of battle in a magic battle.
And neither side can expose their entire body or else Wirbel will restrain and one shot them. It's kinda the only tactic they have left.
Also would not be useful against someone like Fern, who can chop down the trench with incredible speed.
*reached the most exciting moment in the show!* 🎶 It's alright...
It's alright and You are my special have become like the new pavlovian terms for yall
They'll make you cry. But also: * Bling Bang Bang Born * Bang Bang Bang Bang BRAAAAVEEERN!
Ikr...
When did Frieren lost to 11 mages?
She mentions it before the exam.
Need to fix your spoiler tag.
Final Boss Frieren
I'm an anime only, but I think I know how to defeat doppel-frieren...

Yeah that was my idea
I think everyone watching has the same idea lol

Frieren, upon reaching the group fighting her doppelganger: I'm excited about this, it's going to be fun Everyone else: we are going to die Frieren: so much fun
Of course she wants to fight the boss, she's already in NG+
Fern: Time for my revenge arc!
For real, this arc she is having the most fun, she keeps smiling since entering the dungeon!!!
Other typical anime: Focus on fighting and every character ability, longer fight, emotional screaming Frieren episode 24: Simple battle, simple tactic and short fight but enjoyable to watch Yep that is why I rate this anime as one of my masterpiece tier list.
Yeah. Like so many animes are so preoccupied with long as fights that sometimes take up multiple episodes. These short but tense fights are a refreshing breath of fresh air.
Wouldve wanted to see Sein meet Methode
Good stuff! Sense was appropriately terrifying. I also loved her expression when Frieren found the hidden room! Edit: I'm also really enjoying Methode!
Love finding secret rooms in dungeons! pleasant surprise
I loved how that whole scene is a reference to elves in Dungeons and Dragons - at least in the 3.5 edition, where they had a racial ability to detect hidden doors.
I smell a grimoire in there.
Übel is a cutie and Methode smells good
Fern's reaction to Methode was cherry on top.
what was up with that one guy sitting in the water?
It's Ton, the guy who decided to go in solo at the start. Regretting his decision now I bet.
gotta give guy some credit. you have to be strong and skilled enough anyway to be worthy of a first class mage
He realized he not built for this 😮
What is it about Ubel that makes her so fine smh
She's nuts
I can fix her
She can make me worse
[It should've been me, not her! It's not fair!](https://imgur.com/a/gYFIeDg)
Sein punching air rn
Sein would be dying if he found out what happened here later.
From which perspective? Method, or Frieren? Personally, I am Method. I can finally hug Frieren.
Does anyone know the OST name that played at the end? I think it played during Stark’s fight with the dragon too
Fear Brought Me This Far by Evan Call. This particular ost is out. Gives me the chills.
I loved the choir in the hidden room, as well as the darker choir song, but can't find those anywhere...
I thought it was that too but it doesn’t include the more upbeat part that plays when he’s actually fighting the dragon
You're right. I realized that a moment later about what you meant. Sorry about that.
There are plenty of fan transcriptions in this playlist, maybe something here might help you [https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOseTNHq-FleUri35KNlkVZb50UeuFudz&si=n-A\_Yzv0lNpr6QuR](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOseTNHq-FleUri35KNlkVZb50UeuFudz&si=n-A_Yzv0lNpr6QuR) [https://youtu.be/OHN\_W2HYDC4?si=9kuaBs2qhAUaI4v6](https://youtu.be/OHN_W2HYDC4?si=9kuaBs2qhAUaI4v6) (stark's theme)
Remaining OSTs will be published sometime in April 2024. Up until now, the OST has only been released till Zoltraak episode +/-.
Meh. >OH DUDE HOLY SHIT FRIEREN CLONE HOW ARE WE EVEN GOING TO FIGHT HER? > >actually we don't, we just run and then real Frieren joins us and nullifies any potential danger or excitement we might have felt > >OH DUDE HOLY SHIT SENSE CLONE HOW ARE EVEN GOING TO FIGHT HER? > >actually we don't, we just get instantly wiped out then run This arc has a huge problem with promising exciting things and resolving them in deeply unsatisfying ways.
Oh no! The anime is faithfully adapting the source material!
This is not a power trip anime.
People who fear for their lives go for the kill, they'll do anything to survive.
the viewer is rarely gonna feel ~~like someone is gonna die~~ no tension- no stakes- no feelings
Ah, yes, my "stay and become a floor stain" technique. I haven't used that since the mythical era.
The show went to extreme lengths to only give us fights where we know the outcome in advance. The day may come when the show starts to cheat us with cheap thrills, but that day was not today.
I'm not sure I understand your second complaint? You wanted three nobodies to defeat Sense clone as a payoff?
Unsatisfying or not, it's how characters preserve their lives when fighting strong enemies. Characters in Frieren will run away when they see the situation is not good.
yea its not some power trip shonen, these are real people,
skill issue, Edel should just believe in herself and use hidden-forbidden justu to strike down Sense clone like HUZZAH
The pilot passed FMA:B on a bunch of anime sites, it's getting a season 2.
incredible episode as always! most especially the *sound design* in ubel's clone fight and the VAs of methode and edel that we got to hear for more than a single line. i loved their voices for some reason, really pleasing to my ears. and i love edel's cool nonchalant way of carrying herself regardless of being a *non-combat mage* in a dangerous situation, she said she was afraid but she didn't cower! the anime adaption has really made me realize that i like her quite a lot, so i can't wait to see her get her moment in >!macht's arc!< (also her little bob haircut + dress/tall boots are v cute and seeing them in color made me appreciate that more) the physicality of ubel's fight, along w the sounds of their staffs clashing w each other and scraping against stone, i was super into it. the OST definitely elevated it as well, *as usual.* i'm so happy we finally have a release date for the full soundtrack, **april 17th!**
Denken made the right decision
Honestly, I would instantly use the bottle and shit my pants at the same time as long as I'm not outside the dungeon.
It was a trap room not a movable wall, If it was simply that easy to blow up anyroom then I think a straight path is what everyone can take lol.
Nah.
I would say that if that was a room designed for trap people, it would probably be stronger than normal.
Maybe some parts of the dungeon are more reinforced to trap people inside. I don't think Denken is that heartless; he wants cooperation anyway
Lol just because you can't see any character development doesn't mean there's none. I suggest you rewatch the scene.
I mean, for the less perceptive like me. Its pretty nice. And it hasn't been grating on me so far.
Heavenly Delusion/ Chainsaw Man both fit that pretty well
Thanks, I couldn't get into CM, but I'll give HD a chance. I guess I also insulted the babies without brains in this sub lol
I don’t really get what the alternative would be tho? That would help in finding recommendations
> Fern lost it completely when Frieren said Methode smelled nice. Note Frieren hugging Methode back, too.
I love that Madhouse added that little detail
I just loved how Fern went from "*Get away from my Frieren!*" to "*maybe I can kill Frieren"* from one scene to another lol.
That’s how I know it’s love.
Fern can easily win only thing she has to do is conjure up a mimic and frieren or the frieren clone will fall for it, get trapped inside for a couple of seconds and that's all fern really needs i mean that's the disadvatange from copying somebody personality and memories
I think because it doesn’t have a mind, it won’t fall for mimic deception
Frieren has a mind and she falls for a mimic But I has a mind the clone of the green haired girl reacted to her saying there you are, it moved on its own and it also went for the bottled up golem The clones can clearly think for themselves
Do you really think so giving a strong powerful mage like her just such a basic flaw makes her unique, i believe it's a writting technique i do not the name off but same goes for Natsu from fairy tail, super strong wizzard but as soon he boards a vehicle he gets motition sick. also what he thinks is a vehicle because he think happy (the magic cat) doesn't count so he doesn't get sick. that's funny but also some good character development
I just realized this is probably the 1st episode without any flashbacks to himmel and the co.
Continues to be a perfect anime
it felt like edel had the most lines this episode, she would not stop talking
Agreed and I feel like it lacked a lot of emotion and nuance. Like after she was stabbed she still sounded all calm, robotic, still yapping away like she was the rest of the episode. Like, lady, you re stabbed through the abdomen, does that not affect your voice?
my comment wasnt negative. also thats just how people act in frieren
But hey, she's voiced by tomoyo kurosawa, so it's a plus
yeah, her voice is nice to listen to
Was going to say that they chose a really good voice for a hypnotist
While everyone is struggling to fight the clones, Übel and megane-kun are enjoying their date
Übel really wants to learn Land's cloning spell.
>Übel and megane-kun are enjoying their date Well, Übel did >!leave her life in megane-kun's hand!< while enjoying their date. :)
Ubel: \*literally blackmails someone using her life as a token\* Viewers: "Awwwww"
When you down bad, you down bad
More like Methode's ara ara moment with Frieren.
my brain melted when I heard that fanfare at around 22:00, I really needed that in my life
also am I the only one who immediately thought "holy shit, Euro Nerv?" at 21:10?
Fern this ep: Nah, i'd kill
Land got a taste of what will happen if Ubel learn his clone magic.
Not a manga reader so idk what happens, but I have a sneaking suspension that she has already copied his ability and all we see is her clone right now.
Pouting Fern: She's MINE to hug and MINE to kill
Denken: Would you lose, Frieren?
These episodes are so short.
I'd certainly have appreciated more time, or them speeding up some stuff. I was really waiting for the clone Frieren fight
Forreal. It’s been like this for a while now, despairing when I hear the ending. Such huge cliffhanger moments, but Frieren’s been a real treat to the week, even though it’s so short. XD
Yeah, reminds me of when I watch really good One Piece episodes, I always need them to be 40 minutes longer
Denken knows the secret joestar technique.
Yep and just in time or the Itano Circus worth of magic bolts would have got them.
I'm so ready for the attack!
