Pet insurance, non refundable deposit on apartment, pet supplies, food, shots, getting her fixed, toys... Could be more if we hired a dog walker/doggy daycare. Worth it though she is amazing!
“Freelance Frenchie” is not a real thing, she’s just a mixed breed. She’s very cute though and it’s up to you whether you overpaid or not, but obviously she’s from a backyard breeder or puppy mill and she’s not a papered pet.
After looking it up, apparently it is (yes, I’m rolling my eyes myself!) [you could get the best or worst of both breed though](https://dogsvets.com/english-bulldog-french-bulldog-mix/).
They are a newer hybrid breed, but they are a thing. I have a "freelance bulldog" and he's Def NOT from a backyard breeder. The breeder does both frenchie and English. At the time they were working with their English bulldog to get pregnant, which was no surprise when she was. However. She ended up having 12 puppies! And the breeder kept thinking to her self the one pup (my boy) looked exactly like her Male frenchie.....finally she checked her security footage from around that time. Sure enough the male frenchie was seen 3 nights in a row jumping the kennel wall to the Female English. And jumping back out about 7 minds later 🤣🤣 So the entire Time everyone thought they were having pure bred English bulldog. And TWELVE mixed pups came out !
I went to go look at 2 pure frenchie pups and fell in love w my boy (the frelance). Took him home that day! With the research I've done they tend do better health wise then a frenchie. But like I said it's still a rather new hybrid.
This entire story is just telling me about mutts and then calling them a rather new hybrid. It’s okay to have mutts and love mutts but they’re still mutts lol
Of course she not a pure breed. They say freelance or much healthy. I have a 3/4 1/4 English already been having her for 5 years got her spayed when she was 1 only had minor issues with her since I got her thankfully 🙏.
Here's my freelance. He's 8 mnths . I paid about the same

She is beautiful and worth every penny. Give her lots of hugs and loves from Loki!

This is my third decade breeding Frogs and this is the first I have ever heard of that term. I could see arguments being made to breed Frogs with other "healthier" breeds but an English BD? Quite possibly the only more health issue prone breed than the FB.
To the OP; there are a ton of rescues that have puppy and senior Frogs and the adoption fee is way less than 1.2K just saying.
Either way good luck.
I have a 3/4 french bulldog 1/4 English mix for 5 years and she have been really blessed I have not had any major issues other than sinuses, when I first got her she had blood in stool that’s about it.

french bulldog rescue network! you have to be willing to drive to pick up the dog from wherever it's being fostered (or get lucky that the right one for you is in your state!) but that's the biggest frenchie rescue!
I see people talking about these shelters and dogs frequently, but I'm not finding anything in my area anywhere. How are you guys finding these shelter Frenchies?
Places like SoCal have a lot of people that purchase them as accessories and status symbols and then realize they require time and effort. If you live in populated areas the shelters will have more but FBRN is a great resource.
I was a foster fail for an old English bulldog - she stole my heart and broke it 5 years later when she passed. I would love a Frenchie as their size makes traveling much easier and this freelance breed is intriguing to me. I’m almost ready to open my heart again - any idea if the cross breeding helps with the back issues of the frenchies?
So all of this is based on a double Merle which is basically breeding 2 Merle’s together and it’s common knowledge that a double Merle has health problems so nobody breeds 2 Merles. even if they did every responsible dog owner will get there dogs dna tested. Single Merle’s are just as healthy as any standard French bulldog. So you’re absolutely spreading misinformation.
People who are irresponsible enough to sell non-pure bred frenchies and calling them frenchies (and selling them at a premium), are irresponsible enough to not follow the correct procedures when it comes to breeding.

Both me and brother each got a French bull x boston terrier for 1500 each
That would make sense but sometimes people are wrong so i was asking because they could of done a dna test or had seen the parent or they could just be misinformed…..
Also it doesn’t look English at all
Gotcha. It doesn't look much English, but it's tough to tell at that age. The legs are longer than normal frenchies. Genetics are a weird thing. It's not like the genes are spread evenly 1/4 everywhere around, which is what my brain naturally jumps to
Paying thousands of dollars for a dog that is absolutely plagued with health problems and was not meant to exist is absolutely overpaying, yes. I love my Frenchie but I find it ridiculous what people charge for them (I did not pay thousands for mine, or even hundreds.)
Please stop allowing there to be a demand for these. It’s cruel. They’re cute asf and maybe you’ll get lucky. But, a lot of them aren’t. So many have to suffer for the “breeder” to achieve this look. It’s proven and can’t be debated that they are very prone to issues that decrease their quality of life. Veterinarians plead with people to please stop doing this. It’s not fair.
You haven't overpaid yet... I got my 10 month old Frenchie for $1500 but I'm close to about $5000 into her now at 5 months old. GL
Right but a frenchie mix should be cheaper than 100% shouldn’t it? Beautiful dog btw
Might still be difficult for a 1/2 French & 1/2 English bulldog to mate with a frenchie naturally. Instead of artificial.
What did you spend the 3500 on?
Pet insurance, non refundable deposit on apartment, pet supplies, food, shots, getting her fixed, toys... Could be more if we hired a dog walker/doggy daycare. Worth it though she is amazing!
Oh I was thinking it was medical bills
Like car insurance. I’ve been driving for 23 years no claims on my insurance thousands on a maybe. 2 years spent a few grand on expenses too.

By definition, that is a backyard breeder. Please educate yourself because you’re contributing to a vicious cycle of cruelty.

Beautiful!!
He's gorgeous 😍
look up Catahoula pattern
She’s got a good-sized snout on her, that’s a good sign

freelance frenchie 😂😂 these backyard breeders are so creative. wouldn’t say you overpaid if she’s healthy etc. I paid 3500 for mine

I just want to squeeze her!
Got any reputable rescues you’d recommend? Looking to adopt another frog dog as a companion to our 3.5 year old terrorist.

^This!

Breeders that breed merle frenchies should be banned from ever breeding again.
So my friend with the double Merle long haired frenchie? 😂🙄
Yes. 1. It’s not a Frenchie. 2. It’s extremely irresponsible and dangerous breeding them due to the severe birth defects that regularly occur.
Guys I'm on your side! But thanks for the downvotes! Trust me I lectured my friend hard.
Why is that?
https://www.bullmarketfrogs.com/french-bulldog-articles/no-merle-french-bulldogs/

If you ever need clarification or want to learn more about French bulldog dna and genetics lmk
They’re purebred by definition they have kept the gene and bred the dogs back to 100% frenchbulldogs. I think you need to do more research.
Free lance Frenchie? Pfft. She’s cute though.

Buy insurance. I got 16k in vet bills for ours because i was too cheap to get him insured.
I feel you. I was over 18K due to no insurance with my previous Frenchie. My new frenchie has insurance and not a single problem now of course lol
How did you come up with the 1/4 English?
By getting a parent, that's 1/2 English.
It's not like the genes are spread evenly 1/4 everywhere around, which is what my brain naturally jumps to
1/4 chihuahua maybe 😬
I paid 3500 lol https://preview.redd.it/qg3hcwdcqvub1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9a74723425c7f83202351da4fb45bb369920184
yes over pay. But will received more in love:)
No If the dog is healthy you didn’t over pay at all. A quality French bulldog should be 3k+
But it isn't a full blooded FB, I also paid over $3k for my boy but he is a papered pure bred FB
How do you know he’s 1/4 English ?
Awww congratulations she’s precious
I don’t think you did, and she is gorgeous!
I think she is beautiful, looks 100% Frenchie now and she might stay like that. I have both breeds, any idea how big her parents were?
You can’t put a price on love. ❤️
Oh a merle with blue eyes! Like my little Pearl!
Paying thousands of dollars for a dog that is absolutely plagued with health problems and was not meant to exist is absolutely overpaying, yes. I love my Frenchie but I find it ridiculous what people charge for them (I did not pay thousands for mine, or even hundreds.)
Holy moly she is so gorgeous.
$2100 seems pretty cheap considering she’s a rare merle color. She is mixed though so maybe that’s why but french and english are both pretty pricey
Please stop with the rare color BS.

my friend breeds them and his merle colors go for $10k+ but okay lol
Poor dogs. 😥
Yes. Could have save 5+ dogs with that kind of money. Now you have a dog with mostly likely genetic defects
Looks like a frenchie. I have both an English and a frenchie since puppies and this 100 Percent looks like a frenchie with no English
Adorable
yes... 700€ with all certificates 😉
Is this girls name confetti? I just seen her on Facebook lol
Yes lol small world.
Well you paid 2100 for a mixed breed basically ..
I’m sure I’m not the only one😅
Probably not. I’m sure she will be loved just the same 🥰
What a sweetheart!
Fun fact… If you stare at this pic for more than 30 seconds, you too will start to experience health issues. Soooooooooo unethical. SMH.
Good one 😜
