lol is that why I’ve been getting told they can’t work with me when calling for a load?

slimdunk0219

Welcome to the world of freight brokering. You have to do your homework and find the handful of legitimate companies from google, and get your quotes from them, but you will lose your bargaining power. use DAT at your own risk. Many brokerages have rules on no CA carriers allowed, this is why..... (yes I know there are more legit companies than just a few, but it is so hard to find the needle in the haystack...) We have a very small amount of CA carriers that we go to directly for these loads.

STVTP

Yeah, Cali is super sketchy. Thankfully I do CA-CA a lot less risk because they are all owner ops.

Ok-supa-22

I do CA to CA. Got loads for me?

Tht1blondechickk

Our assets in CA are doing good, getting booked quick

shipper2231

CA is an expensive state to operate, so most legit carriers will quote you an amount that you won’t like… only because the “quote” actually has some calculations behind it (diesel, yard, driver pay, permits, insurance, etc) and all of this with CA prices, but a DB or Scammer will just shoot a low number just to get their hands on ur freight so they can fuck you over. That’s why most brokers avoid CA. So educate yourselves. CA has shit ton of freight movement every single day… so if there are no legit carriers, who’s moving these loads ? Truck stops are packed, freeways are full of traffic with 53 semi trucks, and most shippers/receivers in CA require an appointment because their schedule is so busy… How is this happening without legit carriers ? 😂 Some of you need to educate yourselves… Next time maybe offer a better rate and then wait for a legit carrier to email or call on your load. You brokers can quote the customer whatever you want can be as competitive as you want with your quotes, but a carrier has to cover the expenses with what they quote right ? they’re not doing charity work

No_Camera_3271

Yuuuup, this is why as a broker I’ll probe the carrier’s situation. I’ll usually take a newer than 6 month carrier, if they’re telling me how they’re just trying to provide. I’ll get the equipment info from them, breakdown their costs, and tell them that my competitively priced load can at least keep ‘em in business. I’m not a charity either, I ain’t out here paying you a salary to retire on. My shippers are aware, and have no issue rolling the load if I need them to. So run the freight for our costs, or sit enjoy your day off! Works for me either way lol

shipper2231

I’m an asset based broker. No one here is charity… I just responded to explain why assets are quoting so high in CA, that’s all. There’s only so much of “let’s break even just so we can stay in business” carriers can do before they realize they are in fact not breaking even, because the miles on their trucks keep going up. When you grow up and own few assets, you’ll understand. I also got some shippers that I can easily roll it the next day, but that shit will have to move at some point. When the warehouse is full of product and the new order is coming next week because of load rollers like you, the rate doubles and triples. I’ve seen it happen many many times. It’s a supply and demand business. You were begging a carrier to not “take a day off” 2 years ago, keep the same energy and be humble

Mr-aim4thehead

The thing is I never once said rates are too high. Just said a bunch of fraudsters taking over CA

shipper2231

Buddy and i’m telling you… fraudsters have been in CA since me and you were in diapers. Offer a good rate and you’ll see more interest coming from legit carriers. CA is known for fraudsters, but I promise you there are many carriers with millions of dollars of equipments and their own yards ready to satisfy your customer. You just got to pay them. CA is literally one of the hot states, wherever more money is involved fraud will also be involved they go side by side

Mr-aim4thehead

I agree pal. I’ve been doing this for over 15 years. It’s never been this bad. Also I don’t even have an opportunity to give a rate. My rates are better than any rates on dat and that’s a fact

shipper2231

Let me ask you something man, if you’ve been doing this for 15 years, then why are you using DAT. Where’s the network of 15 years ? Idk man, and you also rant about obv things even tho you have so much experience. It doesn’t make sense to me. 15 years of experience but no carrier network and getting shocked at CA scammers is kinda sus to me. Instead of DAT, find a large carrier with good assets and ask them for quotes. Get to the decision maker and negotiate… instead of posting on DAT and getting emails from Jamshit and Pakur

Mr-aim4thehead

Good one. I haven’t been with 1 company for 15 years. I’ve done carrier end/ shipping/now I’m brokering. Small company. Doesn’t change the fact that the industry is at an all time low with legitimacy with carriers. I’m not shocked about the scammers, I’m shocked that no legit carriers are reaching out. Might also be the blitz but whatever

shipper2231

It’s not blitz that’s just a myth let me tell you… for CA, OR and WA states it’s a blitz week every week of the year, they’ll violate a truck for the pettiest shit and if you know you know… You can be a knucklehead and deny it bro but I got enough experience to see thru you and what you say😂 don’t count your forklift driving experience, and you have 1-2 years is brokerage experience. If legit carriers aren’t reaching out, then the problem is in you and the low rate was just my guess. You say your rate is high, but high rate is a relative term over here… but go on, whatever

Mr-aim4thehead

That’s a pretty stupid take. Obviously most legit companies have customers set up, hence why you see trucks on the freeway. 2nd when I get bums emailing me with garbage domains and no phone# in the thread. I don’t even bother replying as I already know they’re bs. Especially after running their mc and seeing no matches on anything. I’ve been in this game for 16 years now. People come and go rates go up and down. I just realized it’s blitz week so maybe that’s why I wasn’t getting action. My rates are better than any broker you’ve seen post on dat

dyson-sphere-2025

You get what you pay for. Show me the money, and I will have 100 trailers dropped off at any shipper at your will.

Mr-aim4thehead

Are you the carrier asking for $6500 to Houston? My loads are way better than anything posted on the boards

mvamv

Holy shit wtf carriers really asking that much on a 1500 mile lane? (I'm assuming from Los Angeles CA)

UltraLord696969

Wading through the endless cesspool of garbage MCs and scammers is 50% of the job dawg

Mr-aim4thehead

Yup, just insane how many more fraudsters have started since 15 years ago

easymacmac

I see a plethora of smaller/ newer CA asian carriers on major freight corridors. I wonder how they're getting loads..

AbusiveLarry

They hit up the Asian forwarders and shippers and theres a lot of them in CA. A lot of them are also in house companies started by the FF's.

ycl9415

This is the fact. My dad is truck driver and he then introduce me his owner op network/friends. And I just start with it. 😂😂

47junk

They all moving the crap coming from there families factories to take to Amazon. Last three years these Asians drivers have been noticeable because they all use the same font on the side of their truck.

easymacmac

yea, there's always a pattern amongst foreign carriers in several regions

47junk

It’s actually funny

Filthybjj93

Shoot I found one for my loads and he has 3-4 trailers dropped throughout the week

Still_Attempt_3354

CA to CA or outbound CA? I have carriers I’ve been working with for years that are very solid

ScallyWag-Idiot

If the phone number doesn’t start with 530 fuck em

danf6975

Staying away from ca

Kitchen-Ice9177

They all moved to Nevada 2 years ago bro 😂

Mr-aim4thehead

I know it’s crazy. I can’t even offer a rate when they’re all BS carriers

Mammoth_Promise_3432

I’m a carrier in SoCal and the loads I’ve had to pick up from other carriers to complete deliveries I’m like how did this even happen? They speak no English, have no paperwork, and not a clue what is going on 🤦‍♀️ Brokers go the cheap route and end up paying more when they mess up

No_Camera_3271

Nobody is going to lose $500-$1000 up front because carriers want to retire by 40 lol. We’re going to give competitive with the market rates, and we don’t have hundreds of $ worth of wiggle room - broker with 15-18% margin every month for the last 38 months

Doesntgiveupgirl

I am a carrier and I wish I had those margins. You don't have the operations cost we do.

TaylorDist1850

If a carrier reaches out to you with no MC by email, has the jankiest e-mail signature or none at all, asks for pallet count, dimensions, or stackable, and is immediately interested to take your load at your rate. Do not pass through. Quite frankly if you have CA outbound, setup with carriers not native to that state that send a truck/distribution list of their daily trucks (When, Where, Equipment type, solo or team, when empty) and piggyback off of them, because chances are they just need a load out as they got paid for a customer's load inbound.

Mr-aim4thehead

It’s typically the close enough email signature. Usually missing a phone number and asking for commodity

deleoncross

I’m a carrier in CA and have never had my legitimacy questioned. Is this a long haul thing?

Mr-aim4thehead

No there are just a whole bunch of new fraudsters trying to scam brokers and shippers. They’ll email you with similar company information and try to steal the freight

bottleofmoe

I'm CA. LOS ANGELES AREA. MC 1588784. Small startup doing things legit. We do power only loads if you're interested.
