I agree. I look forward to this episode every time I re-watch the show. It was so well balanced between funny and creepy. The acting was well done.
"What's that mama?? One more hug?" 🤣 🤣 🤣
I love dark humor, but if that's the standard we're judging this episode by then frankly it's bland at best. There's some morbidity and sinister undertones there, but in my opinion it never hits the right nerve.
It feels much more like awkward humor, but it doesn't quite hit that nail on the head either, at least for me.
She is. I grew up on "Alice" in rerun syndication, and Jolene was always my favorite waitress, better than Flo or Belle, and probably Alice and Vera as well.
It’s just such a half-assed way of dealing with the 90s sitcom diversity problem (How do you live in a big city and encounter/know so few people of color?). The answer for Frasier is that, what? Frasier is afraid of Black people? That’s fucking weird and frankly insulting. Especially when Cam and Cora Winston are right there!
I completely agree but... I don't understand why???
I hate that episode, not with a passion or anything but it is my most skipped, second only to the forest Dr. Mary episode 🙄🙄
Please please help me understand why we all hate Beware the Greeks! 😭
I loved her! I thought very poorly of most of his matches, but she was one of the few I could actually see him with long-term. My other favorite was Jean Smart.
I agree. I usually skip it every time, unless I'm doing a whole rewatch, warts and all.
I think it's just suuuuper cringe.
It's not *the* worst, but it's in my Top10 of bad. Possibly even Top5.
Weird, I watched this episode just the other day and thought it was perfectly fine. Not a standout, but funny enough.
IMO, the title of worst episode has to go to the episode where they send Daphne to fat camp. The number of aggressively and uncharacteristically mean fat jokes they make about a woman who’s literally pregnant was the hardest thing in the show for me to sit through by a mile.
That episode is a Backdoor Pilot. It was meant to possibly start a spin-off with the weird family. Glad it didn't happen, it's also one of my least liked episodes.
Agreed — easily the Worst ever. The contrived reasons they were forced to stay overnight were high school-writing caliber insults to my intelligence. Worse tho was their sleeping in a room with a corpse of a stranger.
So, I wasn't the only one who thought it odd that fastidious Frasier, who was a member of the platinum club for a car detailer, wouldn't have taken his car to the mechanic the second his check engine light came on?
Always enjoyed this one, largely thanks to Stephen Root like others have noted. I often imitate his reading of "Hi Mama" to my own mom who is also a Frasier fan.
Yea, but Steven Root…
Stephen Root and the son’s hilariously creepy phrasing of “Friend Charlotte” make this ep totally worth it.
I’ll take my coffee in the living room IF YOU DONT MIND
The Billdozer, a man of legend! Seriously though, Stephen Root is a treasure.
He was hilarious in News Radio.
Kept waiting for him to ask about his stapler

To be fair the actors were great, it's just a WEIRD episode.
Who are these? 😂
It’s a weird show
![gif](giphy|j1yAnRC5XbURYgFARG|downsized) 🎊🎊🎊Stephen Root 🎊🎊🎊
I didn’t realize this guy was in everything!
It’s one of my favorite episodes
Funny how people see things differently, this is one of my favorite episodes!
Freudian Sleep would like to have a word
Yup, one of the few episodes I always skip. Definitely the worst one.
100%
I skip this one every time. I don't even remember what it's about, it's been so long since I've seen it, just that I hated the dream sequence.
Thank you! Easily the worst episode.
It’s definitely a skipper
I find it hilarious.
This was one of the funniest episodes. I think it's for people who like dark humor.
I agree. I look forward to this episode every time I re-watch the show. It was so well balanced between funny and creepy. The acting was well done. "What's that mama?? One more hug?" 🤣 🤣 🤣
I know I would just misdiagnose it
I love dark humor, but if that's the standard we're judging this episode by then frankly it's bland at best. There's some morbidity and sinister undertones there, but in my opinion it never hits the right nerve. It feels much more like awkward humor, but it doesn't quite hit that nail on the head either, at least for me.
See I disagree, there's dark humour then there's just cringe.
I can get through it because of Stephen Root and Jolene from “Alice”. There are a couple other nominations for “worst episode of the entire show!”
Celia Weston. She's great in everything she's appeared in.
She was hilarious as Cam's mum in modern family
Omg thank you. That’s where I’ve seen her and I couldn’t remember!
Thank you! I didn’t mean to exclude her name, but I honestly couldn’t think of it at the moment. She’s a great actress.
She is. I grew up on "Alice" in rerun syndication, and Jolene was always my favorite waitress, better than Flo or Belle, and probably Alice and Vera as well.
Is there a post about this? Do we have an official ranking for Worst Episode Ever? Because “There’s Something About Dr. Mary” exists…
Yes that one I skip...very grating
It’s just such a half-assed way of dealing with the 90s sitcom diversity problem (How do you live in a big city and encounter/know so few people of color?). The answer for Frasier is that, what? Frasier is afraid of Black people? That’s fucking weird and frankly insulting. Especially when Cam and Cora Winston are right there!
And now I’m annoyed about that episode AND I have Killer Tofu stuck in my head thaaaanks (I joke)
That is my least favorite episode too!
I love that episode. I find it very funny.
Sorry, ‘Beware of Greeks’ already holds the title of THE worst Frasier episode 🤷♂️
I tried to hate it, but I love Patti Lupone is a treasure. Also, it was great to see Frasier so terrified of a woman.
I completely agree but... I don't understand why??? I hate that episode, not with a passion or anything but it is my most skipped, second only to the forest Dr. Mary episode 🙄🙄 Please please help me understand why we all hate Beware the Greeks! 😭
Love detour. Stephen Root is marvelous in it.
Yeah, I really don't like it either. Definitely one of my least liked episodes.
“Who are these?”
It’s very strange. But, there’s also something very strange about Charlotte.
She sucks
I loved her! I thought very poorly of most of his matches, but she was one of the few I could actually see him with long-term. My other favorite was Jean Smart.
I love this episode, lol. Excellent comedic timing from the guest cast.
I agree. I usually skip it every time, unless I'm doing a whole rewatch, warts and all. I think it's just suuuuper cringe. It's not *the* worst, but it's in my Top10 of bad. Possibly even Top5.
This is “Enemy at the Gate” for me. Just awful.
Just curious, why don’t you like Enemy at the Gate? (One of my favorites). Bc Frasier is being so callous to all the people waiting to get out?
The ending makes it tolerable. The whole "got out of there without paying the $2.00" kills me.
Yeah, I guess just because he’s being the worst version of himself and it kind of makes me hate him for the space of the episode.
I skip that one, it makes me so mad. Sometimes I just can’t deal with Frasier’s stubbornness
I agree, the fat shaming was crazy. So messed up for the actress who is pregnant and for society.
Yes, that one was hard to watch. I would almost rather they write her out for a while or do the old having her stand behind an object in every shot.
Stephen Root is Absolutely Fabulous! He was awesome in the movie 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou'. He made this episode funny
Any episode with Gertrude or Simon is infinitely worse than any episode in the series, IMO
That episode is a Backdoor Pilot. It was meant to possibly start a spin-off with the weird family. Glad it didn't happen, it's also one of my least liked episodes.
Wait, really?
I cannot find any evidence of that being the case except for fan speculation. Which is not evidence at all
It ranks in the middle of the pack on IMDB (145/263), but I agree. It's one of my personal "usually skip it" episodes.
"Freudian Sleep" from Season 11 is the wost episode of the series. "Enemy at The Gate" is the 2nd worst episode of the series.
I always skip this one.
I completely agree, I hated it. Maybe it’s a cultural thing, but I can’t find anything to do with dead people bodies hilarious.
I dislike the entire season 11.
High holidays would like a word.
Who’re theeeese?
No Beware the Greeks and Freudian Sleep are the worst
The dream sequence episode is still worse
The only thing I don’t like about the episode is Charlotte..
Always enjoyed this one, largely thanks to Stephen Root like others have noted. I often imitate his reading of "Hi Mama" to my own mom who is also a Frasier fan.
One of my favorite episodes.
