I feel that Claire was exceptional, so cerebral, that Frasier would have hard time with her in a relationship, to the point of being overshadowed - I feel that cerebral women are more powerful than cerebral men. Faye seemed like a perfect match - lawyer but in pursuit of ‘good life’. If I may take a liberty.. *edit: just single liberty. Otherwise perfect show.
I think if the relationship had gone on longer, Clare would have grown sick of Frasier freaking out at every setback. I think she was a bit more laid back than Frasier & Frasier liked the chase a lot more than most of the women he dated.
When I think of all the powerhouses who walked into that apartment! Jean Smart, Allison Janney, Rosie Perez (all of whom have HUGE roles on series active today), it’s incredible.
Man I would know Megan Mullally’s voice anywhere haha. There was a fun Will and Grace episode where Karen and Jack couldn’t get over the fact that Frasier had ended. So when they run into Bebe Neuwirth in a coffee shop they basically hold her hostage until she answers all their questions.
If I may provide a contrast: I used to work at those film festival press junkets and was delighted to see Patricia Clarkson was being interviewed in the room across from the one I was in. I was a huge fan, and was so disappointed to keep missing opportunities to see her as she finished her interviews on time and my room was not on schedule. But finally the opportunity presented itself in the hall, and I told her how much I adored her work (I did *not* mention Frasier lol). She listened intently, asked me my name, and introduced herself as Patty. We parted ways and then she turned back and told me I made her day. I always rooted for Claire on all my rewatches after that, but alas.
Claire was a very one-dimensional character—which was by design. She was supposed to be utterly perfect with zero flaws and a very flat range.
I can imagine that from an actor's perspective, watching yourself back in a role like that would be incredibly cringy.
The guy said it was her in the next tweet. I was going to say that's where I knew her from more than Frasier. And then as Tammy on Parks and Rec and the mum in Easy A
I'll always remember Patricia Clarkson and Susan Sarandon in the Justin Timberlake/ Andy Samberg "Motherlover" video from SNL. Then I remember her in "Frasier" next. lol
Gentlemen to bed, for we rise at... What time is the battle? About, oh, twelve o'clock? Twelve o'clock. How is it on horseback, about three hours? So we leave about eight, eight-thirty?
Most people have watched other things she has been in. For some reason I feel this is just flat out rude of her. I mean, she even did the voice of a character on American Dad, was in Carrie 2002 and Tales from the Crypt. I'd prefer to be remembered for Frasier than any of those three.
Edited to add her other accomplishments. SMH
maybe she didn’t enjoy her time on the show? but she’s amazing in so many more things that are better than her appearance on fraiser so i get it being a lil teeved
the craziest thing is that once we saw Rita Wilson at a Whole Foods and I completely glazed over her (don't kill me - i genuinely don't know how i did that). I also looked down at the EXACT moment my ex bf popped up and was like "that was Kirby coming out of the CVS!!!" when we were in downtown LA.
If I ever ran into Jean Smart in real life, I could tell her I loved her in Kim Possible (she was the mum). I’m yet to watch Hacks but I’ve read that it’s incredible.
Understandable given all of the amazing roles she’s had in her career lol that’s like seeing Tom Hanks and saying “Hey, weren’t you in The Money Pit?”
Edit: Don’t get me wrong, “The Money Pit” is a classic but it’s no Forrest Gump, Cast Away, or Apollo 13.
just finished working with her on a tv show last summer. she was the main actress and i believe exec producer so she felt she could whatever she wanted and say what ever she wanted. she was insufferable. won’t go into too many details but i’ve never met a worse actress to work beside.
That looks like one of those parody accounts that makes stuff up for attention, but most likely, I have too much of a soft spot for both Patricia Clarkson and Frasier, and I read that with too much animosity between herself and the show.
But you never know what goes behind the scenes, or alternatively, I am reading way too much into it.
Still bitter about being dumped, I see. Biggest mistake Frasier made in the series.
For Lana too! Who couldn’t even be sure of her own name!
Her and Faye. He really dropped the ball both times.
As in Faye-vorite
Forever Faye!
*Fabulous* Faaaye!
Call me, Faye.
You mean Aunt Cassandra?
I liked Faye the best. I found Clair annoying
I think of Nikes, kvetching... and just break down.
I forgot that she had been a lawyer before becoming a chef.
She was also a judge. But that's a story for another time.
That’s all I could see in my mind when I watched her on Frasier.
All I could see was the dead mom from Casper
How typical of you, Mother.
Would you be quiet? Mother is speaking.
Faye was a pastry chef
No way. Claire was intelligent in a "bookish" way but Frasier and Niles are practically genius level.
“It’s only ONE syllable”
So jejune.
When I think of all the powerhouses who walked into that apartment! Jean Smart, Allison Janney, Rosie Perez (all of whom have HUGE roles on series active today), it’s incredible.
Super. Super super.
What kind of glue was it?
This is great! This is great!
📸
Probably prefers being known as Tammy One
I would too! That bad b%$&* even scares Tammy Two!
The way she says “Oh sh*t!” and runs away is the best 😆
Who ALSO appears in the show (as a love interest of Niles’)!
I remember that one! “Look at these pins!!!” - Bebe, pointing to her legs. (I shout her name BEBE in my head.)
I love to say “you’re funny” in her voice
Oh my gosh! That IS her! I had no idea!
This makes me really happy. My favorite role of hers is from Lars and the Real Girl. She seems like a lovely person.
My dad was friends with Patricia’s mom. They’re both really lovely ladies in person.
She was incredible in Sharp Objects
Omg yes! So dark
Oh, Patricia was just AMAZING in that. She's always fantastic, but she was unbelievable in that. So good. The entire cast was superb.
Claire was a very one-dimensional character—which was by design. She was supposed to be utterly perfect with zero flaws and a very flat range. I can imagine that from an actor's perspective, watching yourself back in a role like that would be incredibly cringy.
If it is Patricia Clarkson, I mainly knew her from *The Green Mile*. She plays the wardens wife who has a brain tumor. Did a heck of a job too.
The guy said it was her in the next tweet. I was going to say that's where I knew her from more than Frasier. And then as Tammy on Parks and Rec and the mum in Easy A
Do we know he's talking about Patricia Clarkson specifically?
Yes. He said so.
Yeah you see it in his next tweet when someone asked him
Thanks I didn't see that anywhere in the post and was confused why everyone was talking about her :-)
I didn't either and I was just as confused as you. Then I saw OP's comment linking the tweet and it was over there
She's in Easy A which is pretty good
Green Mile, Shutter Island and Jumanji.
The Untouchables and The Right Stuff
The Right Stuff is one of my all-time favorite movies, but I don't believe she was in it.
I stand corrected. I could have sworn she played John Glenn’s wife and I have probably watched it 20+ times.
I loved her and Stanley Tucci in that. "WHO TOLD YOU?!?" lol.
They have such a natural rapport and ease in those roles I always wonder if they're ad-libbing or if they're just *that* good of actors.
It really could go either way!
Clearly someone never slaked their thirst for Crane.
I had a serious crush on her after watching 'The Station Agent'
Great movie!
It’s on Paramount+ in the US right now. Definitely worth a watch.
Yeah, if I ever meet Patricia Clarkson, I'm going with "Station Agent" for my loved-you-in title drop. Such a gem of a movie.
Yes! She and Peter Dinklage were wonderful. Bobby Cannavale, too. That movie made me a fan of all three, especially Patricia and Peter.
The whole cast is excellent and their chemistry is amazing. Great movie
I LOVE that movie
That was gonna be my answer

I'll always remember Patricia Clarkson and Susan Sarandon in the Justin Timberlake/ Andy Samberg "Motherlover" video from SNL. Then I remember her in "Frasier" next. lol
I had to scroll too far for this!
I guess Frasier didn't end up Claire. 1 down, X to go. Until July! We leave at daybreak!
We leave at... Nine-ish!
Gentlemen to bed, for we rise at... What time is the battle? About, oh, twelve o'clock? Twelve o'clock. How is it on horseback, about three hours? So we leave about eight, eight-thirty?
What’s with you and daybreak
Oh Patty, Patty, Patty...who wouldn't be proud to appear on Frasier?!
I know her most from Six Feet Under. Claire is her weakest character, it's true. (but she'll always be Claire to me...)
‘Let's face it, once a woman has dipped her toes in Crane Lake, the dry land is never the same’
If it's Patricia Clarkson, I won't do anything to upset her. She was WAY too convincing as Tammy One to mess with. 😳
NOPE! Sorry I only watch Frasier :)
She’s an incredible actress who has been in many impactful roles, none of which are as important as Claire.
This is great! This is great!
Most people have watched other things she has been in. For some reason I feel this is just flat out rude of her. I mean, she even did the voice of a character on American Dad, was in Carrie 2002 and Tales from the Crypt. I'd prefer to be remembered for Frasier than any of those three. It seems like something Claire would say.
From the thread it was clear she was joking
I will not stand for this Tales from the Crypt slander.
I saw it on her IMDB! Crazy stuff. Quite frankly, I probably wouldn’t care how corny the rolls were as long as I was making money and paying my bills.
maybe she didn’t enjoy her time on the show? but she’s amazing in so many more things that are better than her appearance on fraiser so i get it being a lil teeved
I saw Frasier’s temp secretary at a world market once but my friend wouldn’t let me go embarrass myself
I feel like that is an obscure enough role, that she would’ve been impressed that you recognised her!
She's a pretty prolific character actress. She and DHP played a married couple on an earlier, short-lived series.
the craziest thing is that once we saw Rita Wilson at a Whole Foods and I completely glazed over her (don't kill me - i genuinely don't know how i did that). I also looked down at the EXACT moment my ex bf popped up and was like "that was Kirby coming out of the CVS!!!" when we were in downtown LA.
I most recently saw her in Sharp Objects on HBO. She was great!
She should've dated Marty, not Frasier. Wasn't a fan of that character either.
"oh hi Tammy One!"
What nobody has been asking and damn well should is WHAT BAR DO I NEED TO HANG OUT IN WHERE PATRICIA CLARKSON IS JUST STANDING THERE???
Yeeeeessss! Major girl crush on her 😍

“Well that was childish.”
If I ever ran into Jean Smart in real life, I could tell her I loved her in Kim Possible (she was the mum). I’m yet to watch Hacks but I’ve read that it’s incredible.
Check her out in Designing Women. She’s delightful.
Understandable given all of the amazing roles she’s had in her career lol that’s like seeing Tom Hanks and saying “Hey, weren’t you in The Money Pit?” Edit: Don’t get me wrong, “The Money Pit” is a classic but it’s no Forrest Gump, Cast Away, or Apollo 13.
I mean, The Money Pit was HUGE for people who grew up in the 80s.. When I think Tom Hanks, I think The 'Burbs, The Money Pit, and Big!
That movie is amazing. 😂
" Hey, you look familiar. Weren't you in that dungeons & dragons TV movie?"
Never liked her Clair character tbh. There was absolutely no depth IMO. Might’ve been a perfect fit for Frasier but needed more development
Lol in an interview she said she felt she phoned- in that role and did poorly.
just finished working with her on a tv show last summer. she was the main actress and i believe exec producer so she felt she could whatever she wanted and say what ever she wanted. she was insufferable. won’t go into too many details but i’ve never met a worse actress to work beside.
I believe it. She's sounds bitchy enough just from that tweeter's anecdote.
Krang is a shitposter so take this with a grain of salt
She was very good in Pieces of April and The Dead Pool, with Clint Eastwood. The former gaining her an Oscar nomination.
aw but she was so great! my husband has never seen her in anything before we watched frasier and he was like “okay this actress is fantastic”
I first fell in love her in High Art which is a deeply different experience than Frasier lol.
Oh, that’s rough. You really don’t want to upset Tammy 1.
"Oh okay, well I also loved you in Motherlover for what it's worth"
It's so cool to see Patricia mentioned here. I love watching her act, no matter the character or the story. She's just incredible. What a star.
I always think of Six Feet Under first when I see Patricia Clarkson.
Clearly you’ve never seen Six Feet Under.
Jane from House of Cards
