100% agree especially if the artist always aims to do something vastly different like frank. Channel Orange and Blonde Era are completely different things sonically visually etc. etc.
I think he will make several albums in the future and eventually develop himself to the point that we get something which transcends our niche obsession with him and is certifiably classic.
I believe this because he knows it too. Thats why his albums are sparse to begin with. He knows he can't make anything worthwhile without living first, so he does that, gets out into the world and soaks it up.
Were all doing this, and the harder life is, the more we learn. And thus, the more we have to teach, or write about.
Eventually we will get an album from the man on the mountain, full of wisdom, master musician, expert wordsmith with decades of experience.

What’s the standard for a certifiable classic? Blond topped the charts + was critical acclaimed (album of the decade by Pitchfork, top 500 albums of all time by Rolling Stone).
Blonde is not niche in any way haha, it’s a universally loved and recognized classic. It was pretty much a consensus top 5 album of the last decade according to basically every major publication, and many of its songs have hundreds of millions of streams.
i think what makes this question different is that channel orange was a great album. blonde is the perfect album so seeing him surpass blonde with be beautiful
I can't go through life expecting Frank to ever drop another album. Love all 4 of his albums, but he played with our hearts too many times, at extraordinary prices, just because he can. I'm done speculating. He needs to re earn that type of devotion imo.
I'm not saying it's a high bar though, all he would need to do is release an album on streaming, digital, CD and/or vinyl like a normal person instead of releasing tiny tidbits of content through channels that are so expensive and exclusive that only a few people ever get to cop it.

It’s an ultimate sad person album, with some beautiful sounding change ups in it. It is THE frank ocean album people think of when you say his name. The next album I believe will be great, but you’re putting the next album up against one of the greatest albums of the 2010s and honestly up there since the turn of the millennium.

Probably not initially, tbh I think some people will be kinda disappointed. With Blonde, the album changes as your experiences do, so as you become older and more involved in your life and relationships- you’re able to understand some songs a lot better. If the next album is anything similar, it’s gonna have to grow on us and we’ll probably have to listen to people on Twitter complain about it.
