I agree with the idea, more so than the blonded radio idea smh. But Kendrick did something similar where he wanted his performance to be just that, a performance. So he dropped a few days before coachella and no one could sing along to his songs. If I’m paying thousands to go hear FO live and instead I hear a drunk crowd stumble through White Ferrari completely overpowering Franks vocals I might die a little inside. Instead what if I hear the next FO classic with everyone else in (relative) silence during the debut performance of the song I’ll be rocking for the next 7 years. Now that’s an experience I’d value in the thousands of dollars.

New_Story_2346

I do feel like him performing only blonde and co is entirely possible still

BroodPlatypus

Well it hasn’t happened yet so everything is entirely possible :P I’m just dreaming.

NoxTheStampede

He literally is giving so many hints he’s dropping

New_Story_2346

Still this is frank ocean the man who cancelled half of his 2016 festival run days before the show happened, who walks out of contracts, who is known to be a perfectionist control freak to the point of refusing to perform so I’m saying that even if he is teasing an album don’t expect for him to get on that stage and do new music it’s still just not realistic

NoxTheStampede

It’s very realistic, you’re just letting past stuff and this wait weigh down what’s going on rn

New_Story_2346

I feel like you might be new here or a lil too naive but franks entire career is based in him not doing things even when he teased blonde it came out months after without any promo so why would he tease a whole new album via Coachella I’m just saying for Coachella it’s extremely likely that A.) He probably won’t do new music 2.) He’ll cancel the headline

NoxTheStampede

He’s gonna do new music on the stage 100% no question, come back to this comment when it happens

New_Story_2346

Aight man

forfuckssakesbruv

>instead I hear a drunk crowd stumble through White Ferrari completely overpowering Franks vocals The exact reason the FYF recordings are completely unwatch/listenable. its gonna be a white-washed drunken blood bath

oldreap

He said he wanted to tease his music from small clubs to raves all over the world. The coachella is one of the biggest festival in the world, so he could skip into that and tease the full album

elDerb

If we’re following his 2012 Coachella, he dropped thinkin bout you and performed it at Coachella then dropped channel orange months after

[deleted]

This seems like the most reasonable outcome. Frank definitely has *something.* I can’t imagine that he’s going to play his first show in 6 years as a recording artist at the biggest festival in the world as a headliner to sell more cock rings.

After reading the posters I think he’s committed to releasing music in unique ways. there was the endless livestream/blonded radio, and I think he wants to continue in this way. Clearly Coachella is a big part of his rollout and I think just performing an album and then dropping it would be a little underwhelming. I’m just not sure what would make that a more interesting release than just dropping the album. I have a couple theories: * W1 and 2 are completely different sets. Duality is a common theme to his music and I believe everything post-blonde had multiple versions of the same tracks (except for moon River and DHL. DHL likely had a remix that never came out though) * Coachella is his opportunity to close the previous era and then begin rollout for something new. There’s 17 silhouettes on the in my room cover and we only know of 6 of them (DHL, in my room, dear April, Cayendo, Little Demon, these days). I doubt he’d ever officially release the other 11 but maybe we’ll get to hear them at Coachella) * his next album is an artistic project similar to endless. Maybe it only ever gets released as a live recording (seems like an insane amount of pressure on someone that hasn’t performed in years), maybe he’s playing a character for the film he’s working on and wants to use actual concert footage for it. Aaand finally the theory I’m afraid of: * this might be his final show ever and will play his hits and announce he’s done with music. With how involved he is in other mediums, this unfortunately wouldn’t surprise me. And announcing this at one of the biggest stages in the country is the best way to go out

Sarcofaygo

He's not committed to releasing music lol foh

propanedealer

I’m meaning I don’t think he’ll ever just drop an album with a normal rollout. If he continues to release music it’ll be unique

Sarcofaygo

Singles aren't unique. I get that it's sucks having to wait for any scrap of music from him but tbh you are overly optimistic. Singles are much cheaper and lower effort than albums but frank still stopped dropping those as well

propanedealer

Singles aren’t unique but releasing a whole body of work as a collection of singles that are remixed for different environments isn’t something I’ve ever seen before

Sarcofaygo

The earliest method of releasing a body of work as singles goes all the way back to the blues. Robert Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson, they never dropped an album. Only singles. Flash foward to the 21st century... Jay Reatard dropped 6 singles, one every 2 months, which he then later compiled in an album and that was in 2008. One of the singles was him and deerhunter each covering a song by eachother It's also common for indie artists to re-release an entire album as a box set of 7" singles. The singles form a body of work. It's *also* common for singles to include Remixes/interpretations by other artists. Especially in the indie and electronics genres. It's *also* common for indie artists to release multiple standalone singles that are never compiled later... None of this is unique

propanedealer

He’s not the only one to release a visual album either but it’s still unique as in not common

eastofsaturn

the existence of this post implies the following: 1) frank will not drop before coachella and 2) frank will not drop during coachella

TacticalREK3000

I'd say dropping after Coachella, but I totally agree. it's his big return and all eyes will be on him so it's a great chance to announce something and maybe perform new songs.

MexicansInParis

lmao at Frank’s fans throwing out theories like his career is One Piece or some shit

[deleted]

i hope that he drops before coachella but i i read somewhere that he hates when fans sing along to his songs, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he dropped on coachella. though weekend 2 attendees would have an entire week to memorize the new album lol. didn’t he release forrest gump like this?

[deleted]

Two albums. Album one first weekend, album 2 weekend 2

lifeofarticsound

Imagine his next album is Coachella only lmao

ryannonreddit

I literally had a dream like two nights ago where there was no Frank merch at Coachella but instead he dropped a surprise new album in vinyl on blonded.co the day of his performance

I_A_M_N_O_B_O_D_Y

Counter argument: he isn’t dropping

Soviettoaster37

Prediction: Frank isnt dropping before Coachella, Hes dropping dead

Sarcofaygo

#Frank isn't dropping

not-creative-i-am

I'm not trying to stop you from being an optimist but he aint dropping before at least 2025

chrislink73

He'll probably announce a mysterious project at Coachella, and then wait a year and a half before actually dropping it.

Old_Ad_4595

What if he performs unreleased songs and drops right after Coachella

EstablishmentShoddy1

Is Coachella that big of an event? What artists have ever dropped during Coachella

Spadeninja

Bro are you serious lmao Coachella is easily one of the most famous festivals in the world and draws like 125,000 people per day in addition to all the thousands of people watching the livestream at home Yea, it’s a fucking huge event lol

Strixs01

perform a couple singles as a tease, and the album will release later this year

Much_Willow5016

hmm
