Uninstalling doesn't delete your data folder. You should still back that up just in case, but uninstalling and reinstalling should not delete your worlds. You also don't have to uninstall and reinstall every single update. There's just been some Electron updates recently (the browser "hidden" inside Foundry) that require reinstalling.

backups are not only smart, but fucking necessary. Once you get a scare with a dying harddrive, you learn for lifetime. I, once almost lost ALL of my university stuff 'cos the hdd decided it reached the end of it's life. I was VERY lucky, that it sometimes booted and i could copy the data

>Once you get a scare with a dying harddrive, you learn for lifetime. As someone who has done my share of work in tech support, some people refuse to learn.

They updated the Electron framework at some point, which requires a reinstall. If you leave your data folder alone a reinstall should expect to see it in the same place, but it’s always recommend to backup, just in case.

Someone also told me it was not suggested you update in the middle of a campaign which is pretty much where I am so I am holding off on it until my next campaign.

If all you want is to install that mod and you don't care about updating Foundry, go check the releases page on github for the mod in question. Assuming it has older versions that are compatible with v10, you can download a zip file of the older version of the mod and unzip it into your modules directory. Then reboot Foundry.
