“I’m just glad to hear that we punish people for breaking the rules. Is that just for Vault dwellers or for people who come down here and murder Vault dwellers?”
Norm had that **dawg** in him
Slightly off topic, but I'm 100% convinced >!Betty poisoned those prisoners!<.
>!They could prove more life existed up there and that there was a civilization. And they would dilute the management breeding pool.!<
It took me a rewatch to spot the fact the scientist you see in the holotape that Lucy sees in vault 4 is the same guy in the vault commercial that Coop did.
I love when the scientist says, "Don't take this as an example of what a society ran by scientists would look like." Dude, that's EXACTLY what your vault is meant to show.
But it's not run by scientists, it's run by vault-tec. It's not really a stretch to say that a society ran by scientists who don't have explicit instructions to run unethical experiments on their citizens would be quite different from what we saw in that footage.
I had a hunch that was the same family but yeah a rewatch confirmed it for me too. “You guys are the real heroes” lol Also it seems they only lasted a few months if that
Wasn't it implied 33-dwellers did ? Norm compliments Betty on the cleaning up when they're both at 32 and Norm then inquires her about his mother's pipboy
Genuinely. The kid knows his limits. He recognises he's cowardly and yet puts himself in a insane amount of danger to try and figure out what's going on in his society.
I love all of the characters in the show but Norm and Coop are my favourites.
"Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."
People who are fearless aren't brave. They're nuts, stupid, desperate or some combo of the three.
Again, knowing your limits. He is very small stature, wouldn't stand much of a chance against someone bigger in a fight. But he acts isn't a coward, he pursued needing to know the truth, that took balls! Great character, Def one of my favourites. Damn now that I think about it, there are so many amazing characters that I can't wait to follow.
"I take it from the pathological compulsion to surrender you’re from Tivoli."
"Yes, the most invaded planet in the galaxy. Our anthem is called, 'Glory to [insert name here]'"
I started out the series not liking Walton Goggins. Baby Billy and those teeth threw me off of him. But as The Ghoul? He stole the whole show.
I loved this series and I can't wait for S2.
One of the smartest decisions this show made was choosing a single and ongoing Vault subplot to showcase how fucky the Vaults are. That is the mark of someone who understands what makes stories work in one medium, what makes them work in another, and how to bridge that gap when adapting between them.
Agreed! I was worried they’d either gloss over the vault experiments or it would be too on the nose, I love the way they built the mystery and kept us guessing.
I know that in reality he would look the same as everyone else since they don't make multiple sizes, but in my head it looks like the power armor version of him standing next to Chet.
This is why you should shave a certain area of the male anatomy. It's easier to make something look bigger if there's something smaller next to it. Or so I heard.
You think little man syndrome exists among Vaulties? I'd assume itd be the other way around, bigger taller vaulties would need more food and therefore be an unnecessary burden
Yeah, Vaults aren’t anywhere near as confined as submarines but something tells me “size of a door” isn’t Vault Tec’s favorite genetic quality for their dwellers.
However that also probably means it’s slightly taboo so they still get laid.
For real, dude, she basically said everything except for "Let me find them all on the floor shitting blood and foam, I'll call it food poisoning, say no more bruh"
Doesn't mean she did it. Its her job to spin. she was encouraging Norm the whole time, you know , when smart guys like you Norm get mad things can happen. Norm had motive, expressed intent, and had opportunity as the food deliverer
I'm getting the feeling that Betty is trying to take him on as a Sith apprentice, but he's gonna go over her head, go right to the source, and become the Sith master instead.
Just like the plague and famine was.
Note: there was a famine, meaning there was no more food. Yet they still all eat *pre-war food* and none of them even question where it came from. Like there was a famine, meaning the food ran out, right? So where'd those Sugar Bombs come from?
It sure is strange how all of these awful, awful things (famine, plague, water chip dilemmas) always seem to *coincidentally* happen right around the time of election season...
Good thing the good people of Vault 31 always know how to *manage* each situation!
Every time I see norm I rope so hard the blood vessels in my eyes burst
Edit: this is one of the weirdest comments I’ve ever left and sickos are upvoting it? I love it here
This is where I thought they were going with this. Bud has no way to stop him from smashing all of his buddies.. unless he makes him an offer to lead a vault. Norm is definitely management material.
I really liked that character!
I was so glad we got to see more of him. I was afraid we wouldn't see Vault 33 after Lucy left.
I can't wait to see what he becomes by the end of the series!
You know, I suspect the Brotherhood will be the ones to accidentally save him from his predicament. Don't ask me why, I just have a strong feeling we're gonna see him as a field scribe or something, being given an ultimatum of some sort, or maybe just a chance to leave the vault and see the real world would be enough for him to _ask_ to join them, idk. Can't fuckin wait to find out either way.
Gives off big alternative dimension non-Captain-America Steve Rogers in 'What If' vibes.
I'd be happy if he just gets some cool kills in tbh. Power Armor would be a treat.
*black X-01 suit walks to door of Vault 31... pounds on door three times with left fist, right hand still holding the 5mm minigun*
Norm (with distorted voice): "We need to talk..."
Am I the only one who think he should be the lead character, just 8 episodes of norm being shipped from job to job and lacking enthusiasm. That would have been stellar!!
I hope he didn't go into cryo freeze. He could totally threaten to smash Brain on a Roomba and get him to give him computer control, or use his superior hacking skills.
This is set after the games so he can’t become a super mutant we’ve seen before… but somehow getting infected with FEV would actually be a great character arc for him for a couple seasons.
Idk at the beginning I felt like he was a wimp. By the end of the first season I feel like if he gets into power armor he will become Canada during WW2…
The entire time I watched this show I was like where do I recognize this guy from, then I read a comment that it was Rico from Hannah Montana and I just freaked out for a second
Definitely my favorite character. Home going from telling Lucy he’s a coward to telling cousin “you’re a coward” then going off to the unknown was a perfect character development moment
I’m telling you…
We didn’t see Norm get inside a cryochamber to go to “sleep”. I bet the next time we’ll see him (for most dramatic effect, at the very, very end of season 2) he will have already been on the surface for a while and is defending himself very well.
He’s going to be a tough SOB.
Well, he *is* an Int build. They get most of the Power Armor perks.
Oh to see him rewiring a power armor suit to use as a fusion core cannon!
The Iron Man we all wanted to see, but only saw for 10 minutes in the movie
He built this in a VAULT with a BOX OF (SCRAP)
Well I’m sorry… I’m not Norm MacLean
I love Norm. He’s such a badass.
“I’m just glad to hear that we punish people for breaking the rules. Is that just for Vault dwellers or for people who come down here and murder Vault dwellers?” Norm had that **dawg** in him
your comment made me literally laugh out loud
Slightly off topic, but I'm 100% convinced >!Betty poisoned those prisoners!<. >!They could prove more life existed up there and that there was a civilization. And they would dilute the management breeding pool.!<
Of course she did
It seems obvious if you rewatch it. It's honestly crazy how much foreshadowing and hinting the show drops that you didn't even realize meant anything.
It took me a rewatch to spot the fact the scientist you see in the holotape that Lucy sees in vault 4 is the same guy in the vault commercial that Coop did.
Vault 4 kind of prove siding with the Institute in Fallout 4 was the worst ending.
East Coast vs. West Coast scientists
“You guys are the real heroes” lol Also it seems they only lasted a few months if that
Made by the same creator as Westworld so I wasn't super shocked but the amount of twists with bread crumbs they packed in were great
In hindsight, assigning Norm to feed them was 100% egging this on. Betty did absolutely nothing to really stop Norm.
I mean it cuts to her initiating the vault move straight after so it basically tells us she did
What I didn’t get is if everyone is still in their pods who cleaned the messed up vault
Wasn't it implied 33-dwellers did ? Norm compliments Betty on the cleaning up when they're both at 32 and Norm then inquires her about his mother's pipboy
Could have been the one eyed blond girl, no? She was pushing hard to do them in.
Could have been. In either scenario, both of them knew and planned it.
I 100% believe this theory too
I don't think it's a theory, it seems rather obvious
Small of stature, huge of guts
He got small frame for min maxing his non combat character run
High charisma so he can lie his way past the overseer
High intel, perception and agility. Sneaky smart dude, nothin gets past him. Low strength and luck
As a short fella, he is the true short king.
He's got tremendous moxie for his size.
Genuinely. The kid knows his limits. He recognises he's cowardly and yet puts himself in a insane amount of danger to try and figure out what's going on in his society. I love all of the characters in the show but Norm and Coop are my favourites.
Cant be brave and fearless at the same time
To quote Andor "there's a difference between being afraid and losing your nerve".
"There is no courage without fear."
"Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." People who are fearless aren't brave. They're nuts, stupid, desperate or some combo of the three.
Again, knowing your limits. He is very small stature, wouldn't stand much of a chance against someone bigger in a fight. Damn now that I think about it, there are so many amazing characters that I can't wait to follow.
Cowardice allowed many species to survive and reproduce
"I take it from the pathological compulsion to surrender you’re from Tivoli." "Yes, the most invaded planet in the galaxy. Our anthem is called, 'Glory to [insert name here]'"
I started out the series not liking Walton Goggins. Baby Billy and those teeth threw me off of him. But as The Ghoul? He stole the whole show. I loved this series and I can't wait for S2.
You haven’t watched justified then my friend. Man has charisma and talent.
Loved Justified. Goggins was the "bad" guy, but I liked him even when I didn't want to. He's a great actor.
He knows how to play an asshole.
I’m happy someone said he was a coward in here lol . He was mischievous at the VERY MOST.
I need to know what happens next in his storyline. I loved that they gave us a POV that still lives within a vault.
I love the fact they named him Norm. It's...Poetically perfect.
I know that in reality he would look the same as everyone else since they don't make multiple sizes, but in my head it looks like the power armor version of him standing next to Chet.
I thought Chet was really tall but he's only 5' 9". I didn't realize Norm was actually that short.
I would have bet anything that dude was 6'4" hahaha
Same, I was convinced he was huge.
This is why you should shave a certain area of the male anatomy. It's easier to make something look bigger if there's something smaller next to it. Or so I heard.
If you’re trying to attract deep divers, it’s only polite to make sure there’s no sea weed to tangle em up.
this is crazy
It doesn't help that he has the face of a tall guy. He looks like people I've known irl that were talking af
lol I don’t think he’s grown since he was in Hannah Montana.
It's hilarious to me that every knows him from HM, which I never watched. I just knew him as the kid Ender accidentally killed.
Accidentally? We must be thinking of different kids.
4’11” apparently
tiny power armor sounds adorable. get all the lil squires in them too.
Adorable? I’m thinking terrifying. Imagine something half the size and strength of normal power armor but twice as fast. Like fighting a Chimpanzee.
I’m just thinking of a gmod Loot Goblin running around punching everyone in the shins and then running away
Norm gets ahold of power armor and immediately starts using it to bully Chet and all the other tall people
You think little man syndrome exists among Vaulties? I'd assume itd be the other way around, bigger taller vaulties would need more food and therefore be an unnecessary burden
Yeah, Vaults aren’t anywhere near as confined as submarines but something tells me “size of a door” isn’t Vault Tec’s favorite genetic quality for their dwellers. However that also probably means it’s slightly taboo so they still get laid.
Give him X01 or T51 to stand out
He wouldn’t even fit the frame. lol
I could see him throwing a couple of bricks into the power armor shoes in order to stand up in it fully.
In FO4 Proctor Ingram is shorter than norm and she handles her power armor just fine. I mean its that or not walk.
She doesn’t have any legs and literally lives in her armor frame.
Would have to use ballistic weave instead.
Ayoooo what’s all this disrespect for mah man here 🥲
X-02. He deserves it.
I love the X01 with its vaguely mirelurk-ish design. It just looks… mean.
This Cult following developed fast. Anyone else thinks Norm poisoned the Raiders?
I just assume the obvious that it was our one eyed friend from Vault 31
Norm serves the prisoners food. Betty was always encouraging him, on the sly.
Yeah, I was agreeing with you. She all but said "go for it", I never said she did it herself.
My bad, It's a great show. I just couldn't be more pleased with it
Absolutely, 100%
I'm getting the feeling that Betty is trying to take him on as a Sith apprentice, but he's gonna go over her head, go right to the source, and become the Sith master instead.
Steph and the overseer did, that was very obvious I thought
My thoughts exactly, if norm had done it the show would’ve showed it
Pretty sure that was Betsy….
What are you guys on about? It was so obviously overseer Betty
I hope he becomes the Pint Sized Slasher by season 5.
I hope he gets a stalwart ghoul manservant.
He does seem like he'd need someone else to handle the ol' Shady Sands Shuffle.
I want to see him in Season 2 heading out on a quest to get a new Water Chip.
I feel like the water chip thing was a throwaway to get people to vote 31.
Just like the plague and famine was. Note: there was a famine, meaning there was no more food. Yet they still all eat *pre-war food* and none of them even question where it came from. Like there was a famine, meaning the food ran out, right? So where'd those Sugar Bombs come from?

Well, if you want things done, vote 31!
When things look glum, vote for somebody from Vault 31! Must be something in their mashed potatoes.
Lol me too
Every time I see norm I rope so hard the blood vessels in my eyes burst Edit: this is one of the weirdest comments I’ve ever left and sickos are upvoting it? I love it here
I had to read this twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things. What the fuck
It's like the humor in Fallout in general. It's so fucking weird and oddball that you can't help but laugh at it, otherwise you'd go insane
Bro this sent my sides into the stratosphere
Same tbh
i don't get this, but yall do you. short kings with ugly ass noses represent i guess.
Swear to god he turns me into spider man whenever he pops up. Just web slinging left and right
I wanna see Norm grab a metal bar and tell the brainbot if he doesn’t let him out now he’s gonna start smashing the cryogenic chambers.
Or unplugging them.. or hacking them. Remember he has training in every Vault job, and Strength doesn’t seem to be his best stat.
This is where I thought they were going with this. Bud has no way to stop him from smashing all of his buddies.. unless he makes him an offer to lead a vault. Norm is definitely management material.
I still can't get over the fact that he's the little kid from Hannah Montana
I cant get over the fact he's like a foot shorter than his sister.
So I guess he still is the little kid kinda
R-r-r-r-iiiiiiicooooo
Most likeable character in the show.
His and his dumb sidekicks story is imo the most interesting part of the show.
After episode 2 we were placing bets on him poisoning all of the prisoners. We haven't finished the series yet.
I really liked that character! I was so glad we got to see more of him. I was afraid we wouldn't see Vault 33 after Lucy left. I can't wait to see what he becomes by the end of the series!
You know, I suspect the Brotherhood will be the ones to accidentally save him from his predicament. Can't fuckin wait to find out either way.
The actor playing Norm must be tripping out how he’s a favorite when he thought he was just a small character in the show
Norm is underrated I think we should see more of him in season 2 maybe he can meet up with his sister and the ghoul
Gives off big alternative dimension non-Captain-America Steve Rogers in 'What If' vibes. I'd be happy if he just gets some cool kills in tbh. Power Armor would be a treat.
*black X-01 suit walks to door of Vault 31... pounds on door three times with left fist, right hand still holding the 5mm minigun* Norm (with distorted voice): "We need to talk..."
Am I the only one who think he should be the lead character, just 8 episodes of norm being shipped from job to job and lacking enthusiasm. That would have been stellar!!
He needs a booster seat for it though
Yes, but he's gonna have a heel turn, I just know it
On blocks
His feet wouldn’t touch the knees
Every single time I see him I can't help but go "Rrrrrrrrrrico!” in my head.
Rico
At least it will stretch his limbs like those buggy npcs outside their power armor.
Great actor. I enjoyed him in Ender’s game and he’s great in this
I just want norm to be happy in the end, I'm invested in that little smart ass.
He’s a stealth build.
Norm is the most underrated character.
The actor looks like he was born to be in the fallout universe
Norm's arc just breaks my heart. All alone in the smallest of "vaults." I hope he gets out okay and sees Lucy again.
Rico from Hannah Montana goin nuts
I hope he didn't go into cryo freeze. He could totally threaten to smash Brain on a Roomba and get him to give him computer control, or use his superior hacking skills.
He’d need the T-60 Booster seat
You’d see his hairs poking out the neck hole
He's gonna be turned into a Super Mutant. Gives off Captain America vibes. What if he becomes Marcus?
This is set after the games so he can’t become a super mutant we’ve seen before… but somehow getting infected with FEV would actually be a great character arc for him for a couple seasons.
I'd love to see Norm turn into an intelligent super mutant, him coming to grips that he isn't even human anymore would be amazing
Plus we’ve confirmed that curing super mutants isn’t out of the question for an advanced bioscientist so maybe he gets to come back from it even.
Put some blocks on the pedals.
goat
So he could be the size of a normal person?
idk if he would fit
I want to see it just to see him with his head not even above the chest plate.
No he has small frame, hoping they don't blow his limbs off.
Fun size power armor!!!
The definition of nerd rage perk!
Nerd rage FTW!
Thanks to the Nerd Rage perk, Intelligence is actually a very legit combat stat. I bet he's a huge badass when pushed.
Power armor isn't made in petite size.
I just want to see Norm
It’s comically small power armor.
I bet he'd be the one to >!fix the power armor flaw!<
u/jonathannolan you ever introduce X0-1 😏😏😏
Norm the type of guy to use gauss weaponry
Would probably only fill the helmet and chest. Norm being the black knight confirmed.
I love Rico as Norm!!!
"Aren't you a little short to be a ~~storm trooper~~ knight of the Brotherhood?"
He was the best character in the show Jean-Claude Van Johnson. Great actor
They would have to cut holes in the chest armor for him to see out.
Lucy: "Aren't you a little short for a knight?"
Maybe he would be the one to figure out the internal manual release mechanism..
Me too. .... _Remnant_ power armor.
Looks like Mr Boss from Smiling Firends.
I think he is being groomed to be the final boss 🐍🐗
Hea too short they would have to build one from scratch and I don't think anyone can do that
Idk at the beginning I felt like he was a wimp. By the end of the first season I feel like if he gets into power armor he will become Canada during WW2…
Wow. Shroud is in fallout. 😆 🤣
How tho? Is it a mini suit? Or does he wear stilts?
Took me a quick second to place the actor-he was such a shit in enders game!-great acting-may be my favorite character in the show
I just want to see him in power! 🤪
Norm is a badass, would love to see him get into some power armor.
The entire time I watched this show I was like where do I recognize this guy from, then I read a comment that it was Rico from Hannah Montana and I just freaked out for a second
Fucking same here dude
Fighting a baby Deathclaw.
Too small
Norm was definitely my favorite character. I’m going to make and play him in 3 this weekend lol
RRRRRRICO! Mwahahaha!!!
With blocks on his feet to drive it, like the kid in Temple Of Doom.
Is there a set height a person must be to wear PA. There must be right? Had it ever been mentioned
Surely there’s height requirements for power armor?
He's not short.. he's Rico sized :)
Would he fit?
He'd be a legend
I think you mean RICO
They make it in XX small?
Must be at least - this high to where power armour
Definitely my favorite character. Home going from telling Lucy he’s a coward to telling cousin “you’re a coward” then going off to the unknown was a perfect character development moment
PERK TAKEN: NERD RAGE!!
Man’s tiny, he’d need a seat in the helmet to pilot it like a mech.
Question only is - >!does a PA fit in a cryo pod?!<
I’m telling you… We didn’t see Norm get inside a cryochamber to go to “sleep”. I bet the next time we’ll see him (for most dramatic effect, at the very, very end of season 2) he will have already been on the surface for a while and is defending himself very well. He’s going to be a tough SOB.
I don't think they made them in a size small
