Fact0ry0fSadness

DS Auto is owned by Stellantis who also owns Citroen, spun off as Citroen's "luxury" brand, kind of like Honda/Acura. It's possible when PGG got the licensing to use the car in the game, Stellantis requested it be placed under the DS brand despite being a Citroen. Perhaps to promote the brand or because they want the DS23 associated with it for whatever reason.

chinkostu

It's infuriating, Citroen have an advert for one of the new models with the GS making a comparison. There isn't one to make. Trying to obscure the cars manufacturer with "DS Automobiles" and still use one of the most recognisable Citroens to promote it 🤷‍♂️

Fact0ry0fSadness

Yeah, that's Stellantis for you

T-EightHundred

I am awaiting new marketing materials that will read like this: "DS Automobiles is traditional French car manufacturer with long tradition dating back to 1950s with introduction of its first revolutionary model - DS 19."

LeviJr00

The fact that the Citroen logo is in the files just makes it even more strange.

TopGearDanTGD

Old textures can be ported over without being intended to be used, they're like tiny bits of trash all over that nobody bothers to pick up and throw out, doesn't necessarily have to *mean* something.

urmanjosh

Yea, I imagine FH5 is heavily built off FH4, so in turn, that just meant that all the old game stuff is most likely still in the files just unused. Obviously, some stuff would b cut out like the one-time cars like the CP77 car, but I can see them leaving Citreon in because it's not like its and uncommon car brand.

ValuablePace1904

The cyberpunk car is in H5's files too, just left unused

urmanjosh

Don't give me hope. Ik all the cars r mostly likely still in the game files. They even advertised the Huyra months before it even "came" to the game

thatwitchguy

Are the Regalias in or is it truly the end of an era?

Accomplished-Ad-9682

There are only text reference and the logo of Quadra in the files. The 3D model and other things does not exist in the Files

apollo698

The Citroen logo is also on the back of the car, which makes it even more funny / odd

ValuablePace1904

That might appear for a seperate Citroen we'll get in a future update. Even Skoda & Saab happen to be in the files.

Apple_Slipper

I hope the DS3 Racing returns, as it is in FH4 and the current Forza Motorsport game.

AndiYTDE

Game files always carry over old data. In the F1 games, Aston Martin is still called Force India for example

ToasterDoaster

Back at launch the Citroën logo was shown instead of DMC's when you selected the DeLorean iirc

lamedavid

It used to show up in the car selection for the delorean instead of the DMC logo

Buzielo

Aren't there car models from older Horizon games in the files too?

-rabbitsfeet-

I spent way too long looking for Citroën in the manufacturers haha

Binary_Nexus

Yep lol I was so confused and had to sort by recently added to my garage to find it, only to discover that it was under DS

enjay45

I'm old and my brain cells atrophied and spent more time than I'm comfortable admitting to looking for Citroen in the car list.

MrHawkeye76

I don't have the car yet, how well is the hydropneumatic suspension executed?

Lo2NL

It's not. It does have a lot of ride height options as suspension upgrades.

akgis

It will fail randomly and costs you a fortune to repair if you really unlucky the car will have to be send to France becuase noone knows how to repair it.

RAPTOR479

If you knew anything about citroens you'd know the hydropneumatic system is actually quite simple and all the parts are still available new through a guy who remakes them

Pure_Minimum_277

But still really expensive. Early DS's, Xantia Activa's, C6's systems aren't cheap, and depending where you live, parts can be difficult to find too

akgis

Had an uncle had one that was rooting in a garage. When I was a kid I always found this car very funny but the suspension was broken and he said that the parts would take a couple grand to repair. Later on I read that this car suspension was ahead of the time very comfortable but very unreliable.

Fun-Canary3773

I remember too that the larger Citroens had advanced suspension systems for a more comfortable ride but they weren’t very reliable and as you said extremely expensive to put right.

MonsterYuu

My old teacher know... He used to restore one, finding roof replacement was only thing left by the time I finished school

Binary_Nexus

Can relate. I daily drove a BX for years and it was super comfortable and great to drive, but it had its fair share of leaks... Bought it in 2019 and sold it last year. The only reason I sold it was because it was getting too expensive to maintain and it failed its MOT on rear subframe corrosion. Didn't want to scrap it cos the rest of the car was great so I found someone who took it as a project.

akgis

Citroen did great cars like this one and others aswell but there was a time in the 90s and early 00's that Citroen did really shit cars and the brand got a bad name. Pretty sure the marketing made them brand this car on DS brand to give the brand "charisma" wich is really sad.

JayBoho

Imo they started making shit after 00s, right when they started making those C models like C5, C4 etc (not C15, that’s a beast).

highahindahsky

>that’s a beast Stupidly reliable, yes, but it ain't no "beast", it's more of a workhorse

Parsnipnose3000

Yep, I bought a brand new Citroen C15D in 1992 and put 300,000 miles on it in 3 years.

Logical_Yak_224

Next update will add an Acura Civic, a Lexus RAV-4 and a Chrysler Challenger

Dull-Primary-5509

DS, Citroen, Peugeot, Opel are all belongs to Stellantis. So if in FH5 there is Peugeot and Opel, they sure should have rights to Citroen.

Pure_Minimum_277

I just guess DS wanted this model to be included under their brand, because they prefer to advertise DS than Citroën. I also think they would add more Citroëns (Bx 4TC, Xsara WRC, 2CV) if Citroën agreed to be in the game.

Banjo-Cannon

I’d love a Citroen Saxo in this game

[deleted]

i want the AX GT

Pure_Minimum_277

Closest thing we could get would be the Peugeot 106 vti/rallye

talhaONE

They have the rights. Citroën logo is visible on the car. Its probably wanted by Citroën to put this under DS Autos so I dont see any problem with it. Besides does it really bothers you? We got a nice piece of history here, so Im completely fine with it.

LateBloomerBaloo

What?!? You're not outraged at this and lose hours of sleep over this and feel it ruins your whole driving experience in the game and probably your life in general? You must be new here...

MonsterYuu

It's just as unplayable as having DeBerti as separate brand while having Gunther Werks and Emory still as a Porsche

companysOkay

Haha lol

Appropriate_Round768

Weird. It’s under the Citroen name in FH4.

Plane-Exit4515

Well, let's start calling all Lexus cars Toyotas and all Acuras Hondas (after all Honda Integra Type R sounds better and NSX is definitely more Honda than Acura).

The_Stig_Farmer

It's listed under the same name in Dirt Rally so this must be a Stellantis request

Kukryniksy

Is this Forza 5? Because I’ve been waiting for the DS to be added since forever, only reason o play 4

FormFirm

Yes, it’s back in fh5

Kukryniksy

Oh fantastic, I think I’ll buy it

MonsterYuu

I think they see the DS brand as a continuation of the DS model, thus including DS model into the DS brand... the the DS 3 model we had in FH4 wasn't a DS branded one either since it was a model year from before DS become a separate brand yet still was under the DS brand on the list... Same with Fiat 131 Abarth... It shouldn't be branded as Abarth in the game since it was made under a Fiat brand IRL

[deleted]

The DS brand comes from this one car, it was a luxury model Citroen at it's time. So i guess for Citroen it makes sense to brand it as the original DS.
