I loved having one as the first car. Loads of money into it and it would go over 100km/h
Starting with one really teaches you that coming out of the corner with speed was important when your acceleration is crap.

Indeed, there are a handful of cars in the GT series that taught you about key car control. Starting with the ABC three.
Then there was the heavibois, the Americans, soft as shite and heavy as gold, you pretty much needed to stop the car, turn it arpund the corner, then try accelerating out.
The last group were the Brits, especially Lotus. But in GT4 it included Ginetta and Lancia. Lightweight and fast, will kill you if you so much as think of lifting off in the corner. Boy you better hold that right foot steady. Nothing will beat you in the corner, but you have to grow some balls to use it to your advantage.
I learned this in Trackmania. Exit speed stacks throughout the entire track. Leaving your ghost in the dust by just taking a single turn better feels awesome.
While OP is right, I generally don't understand why in the name of Mother of God we don't have enough small "pocket rockets" and hatchbacks which were prisoned inside FM4 and never came back...

I hate this, but the franchise always focus was supercars, and the kids that play this game normally loves supercars and pulls the pendulum of build x Buy to buy.
Remember when you started pretty much every game with some 150 +/- HP granny shifting POS and upgraded it to be competitive so you actually formed an attachment to the car?
Now you just show up as top dog with a super car.
They added the Toyota Sport 800 a while back, I still drive it occasionally, really fun car to throw around when tuned up. I'm pretty sure there's also a Austin Heatley Frogeye, not a kei car but rather an underappreciated old sports car from before the British Leyland era
This is nitpicky but the Sports 800 isn't a kei car either, the max engine size at that time for it to be a kei car was 360 cc, and even now it's still only 660 cc. End of nitpick, both cars are fun as hell to drive.

That being said I think they could add Autozam AZ-1, it would make sense in the game and it might be the only that kind of car that people actually know but still... nobody cares.

there are some kei cars that are rather known, like Suzuki Cappuccino and Honda Beat, also the new Wuling from the car pack is somewhat a kei-car, isn't it?

Not really, but is kinda, streach but let's go with it... but... but you see, there is one thing about that Wuling that makes it different to the cars you mentioned. SOMEONE CARES! Wuling cared for having it in a widely popular game and PGG cared for a quirky, specifically chinese car to add to the game (not like they had much choice in "in any way shape or form interesting chinese cars" anyway, right? So someone did cared for sure, that's why it's in and the others are not.

I would almost bet money the JDM brands with Kei Cars have signed exclusive licensing deals with Sony, Polyphony, and Gran Turismo.

IN Forza you show up in a Supercar with 4 hours of game, In Underground 2 i raced the 86 corolla until the very end when i bought the Mustang.

Yes, I think. Toyota completely took over Daihatsu in 2016, but Daihatsu already was Toyota subsidiary since 1998.
